Cons:
I drove from Minnesota to California which included very smoky areas near fires in Oregon and California. I wanted to make sure I had a good spare tire before I left. There wasn't a spare tire. The attendant said the rental cars don't have spares. He gave me a number to call if I needed assistance. The problem is there was no cell service in many areas. Getting a flat tire in the fire ravaged areas would have been very dangerous possibly deadly to my health. Spare tires should be in each vehicle!!6.0 Good

Pros:
Pick up was simple. Counters were understaffed but our flight was delayed so we were over an hour late. So not their fault. Drop off was very easy.Cons:
Better communication as to where to pick up the car. We went to the other side of the airport only to find we had to go to the other terminal. After a long flight last thing my 9 year old and I wanted was to walk to the rental counter area to find it was closed with signage we had to go all the way to the other side of the airport to pick up our rental.10.0 Excellent

Cons:
I got a letter 3 weeks after the return that claimed I smoked in the car and there was excessive smoke smell. I did not smoke, never have smoked in my life. They are charging me $450 and I have petitioned their customer service multiple times. They keep escalating it to another bureaucratic level of the business to hand off the problem to the next customer service representative. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and I will be filing a consumer fraud report to the Attorney General's Office of Illinois. This company has absolutely committed fraud and is trying to find a way to book extra revenue. I will never do business with the Avis Budget group (the company that owns Payless) ever again.8.0 Excellent

At pick-up they switched to a different vehicle which was an "upgrade" to a mid-sized SUV for the same price. Appreciated that, but once I left MSP I realized that the vehicle had not been washed or re-filled with gas, and so the Fuel light went on almost immediately (36 miles left). So I had to immediately gas up. The net of this was that I returned the vehicle with 150 miles left, and therefore bought more gas than I actually used. I documented the issue on the day of pickup and took a photo of my gas purchase...so at least I didn't get hit with a fuel surcharge. But it would have been better for things to have been done right from the start.9.2 Excellent

Pick up and drop off were AWFUL. Told they would bring the car to us. 10 people standing around waiting. Took over 30 minutes to get the car. Return just as bad. Numerous people just walked away leaving their cars as there was NO ONE there to check them back in.Cons:

The pick-up and drop off was very convenient. There was less of a line than other vendors, and only a short wait for the car to be made available. Location of pick-up and drop off very convenient at the airport.Cons:
They didn't specify drop off details, we just assumed it was the same location as pick-up. With the construction it's a maze to get in and out of rental location with the car.7.8

Yes, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I think that the wait in line was longer than it needed to be. But overall the experience was pleasant given that I wasn't in a hurry.Cons:
I think that the pricing should be more upfront and transparent. And after all of the fees nearly $400 was a little steep for only two days with the car. Finally, the pick up area was a valet and it wasn't well marked where I should wait. Given that the temperature was in the teens, that was an important point.5.2 Okay

When I got there they didn't have the cat I reserved. They ended up getting me something that could work but it was $250 more. Also if you're coming to the airport to rent a car but you didnt fly in it's a nightmare to get there.8.8 Excellent

I was charged an extra $107.00 for something. I still have no idea what it was for and the receipt, which was emailed to me, does not disclose the reason for the charge. I will have to contact Hertz for an explanation. It might have been done in error but it did not apply to any extra that I agreed to pay. I am very disappointed and was quite surprised to see the amount on the emailed receipt.4.8 Okay
