The hotel was clearly a bit run down. Lights in the room were on long, jury-rigged extension cords to allow a TV, microwave, and fridge in the room. The wall safe was non-functional. Positives: Decent (if limited) complimentary breakfast and a courteous staff. The view of Charlotte Amalie is also excellent. Negative: $20/day 'resort fee' tacked on to the bill for no reason except it seems to make them appear cheaper when they advertise online. Also, far from many places so except to pay a bit for a taxi if you choose not to rent a car.
Pros. View was beautiful
Cons. Hotel was outdated and not clean
Pros. Really lovely people running this hotel. I sat at the bar one night - obscenely beautiful view, with Downtown Charlotte Amelie and its lights. Staff is friendly and helpful, calling cabs and making menu item suggestions. Definitely eat at least one meal in the fantastic dining room - the scenery unparalleled.
Pros. All the employees where extremely attentive, the room was very comfortable, beautiful views, the pool area was great, the restaurant served delicious food.
Cons. Location, although you get to enjoy beautiful views in order to move around is best to rent a motorcycle or car.
Pros. The view and sea breeze were wonderful and service and accommodation was great
Pros. The restaurant was excellent. View of the harbor from every seat of this open air place. Even at the bar: the bartender's area was sunken to allow for better views. We were there at dusk, and watched as the daylight view of sailboats and a cruise ship turned into a sea of twinkling lights. Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the best Sunday brunches I've ever had. Easy taxi ride from airport and to ferry.
Cons. Since it is on a mountainside, there are a lot of stone steps to negotiate. No elevators, which makes it difficult if you have a lot of luggage, as we did. We only stayed one night, but I would have rented a car if we were staying longer, as it is too far to walk to town. Bedroom was small but comfortable. I would have preferred one with a view. Pool was small, and in view from the bar.
