Seriously, do not stay here
The building is secured from the street. Royal inn is located in The tenderloin, a rough area in San Francisco. You must be buzzed in to enter the building. The room includes a bed and a sink. That is it.
Found this hotel through kayak and it seemed to be a good deal, but should have read more extensively about the Royal Inn. First of all, there are 2 Royal Inns in SF (I was reading the reviews for the other royal inn, which are better than this one). Believe the reviews, do not stay here if you are looking for a convenient spot in the city. There is no parking in this neighborhood, other than $20 lots that don't seem safe. There is no toilet or shower in the rooms, only shared ones in the hallways. The towels we were given were stained brown. The hallways also smell a lot like kitty litter. It is quite unbearable. I was unable to cancel my reservation, so I paid $100 & ended up staying with a friend in the city. I urge Kayak to remove the Royal Inn on Eddy st from their website, or at least better warn customers what they will be getting into.
Bedding hadn't been washed.
Gunshots outside at night and constant yelling and arguing outside. Had to move to a different hotel and just pay the extra money to be in a safer place.
Good location and price, minimal quality
Good downtown location. Economical price. Cordial staff.
Zero facilities. Shabby appearance. Some street people, but no hassles.
Policies vary by room type and provider.
