10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had the best time here: super comfy and clean rooms, a lot of good recommendations from Werner and the breakfast Carlos made was to die for. Honestly, I have never had such a good homemade breakfast in any B&B. We stayed for three nights and rented the two bedrooms (4 people) in the main house upstairs. We had our private balcony and downstairs is a big terrace with a nice little pool to cool of after a day of exploring. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to stay there again!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Carlos and Wernher were excellent hosts and enjoy hosting. Breakfasts were indulgent. They organised all our trips and we were able to settle with them at the end. They know what’s good locally. Breakfasts were great - really!
Cons: Many of the attractions were in La Fortuna which is a drive away. However the hotel is well located in Nuevo Arenal overlooking a dense forest with humming birds on your doorstep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fantastic, from the views to the room and location
Cons: No a thing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpfull owner, gives advice and helps with local bookings. Spotless and new property. Tasty breakfast. Many TV channels. Quiet location.
Cons: My junior suite room had no views.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hosts, well equipped room and a surprisingly nice breakfast! At night we had a dinner at the lake with a breathtaking sunset. We can highly recommend a stopover at Werner and Carlos’ place. Or even some more days.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place, super clean, awesome breakfast etc. Nice touches all over.
Cons: The place was excellent. Any complaint is price related, maybe Booking.com's fault. I was offered a Genius discount by Booking.com. End result. I ended up paying more then my brother in law who just walked in and had breakfast included. We lost the breakfast option maybe cause Booking offers a deal. Dunno. And had to pay extra all breakfasts. Lol. Do not use Booking. Call in direct to the hotel. Tel 8610-6279.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Carlos and Werner we extremely conscientious, professional and friendly. The breakfast was outstanding. Nuevo Arenal was a quiet town a distance from touristy La Fortuna.
Cons: There was little not to like. A bit of a drive to some attractions.

Rio Celeste Hideaway is a small resort-style and ecologically-conscious hotel that provides a truly unique experience. Pros: Our room was amazing, so does location and facilities.
Cons: A bit dark at night but I guess it's part of the atmosphere they want to create.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The endless surprises of beauty, magical touches, amazing construction, impeccable cleanliness, exotic landscapes and trails.
Cons: its a small place so menu choices are limited but sufficient. It use to be a difficult drive but the road is now paved. So don’t let any old info about the terrible roads there keep you away. It was a breeze to get there. The road was paved this past year.
9.0 Excellent

Cons: The pool noise due to the location of our toom

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rio Celeste Hideaway was a great place to enjoy our last day in Costa Rica. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Our room was awesome, a little bit dark, beds kind of loud when you move. The food in the restaurant was good. The breakfast was a bit simple, but you can order eggs and pancakes, which were really good. We enjoyed the free night walk with the guide. He shows and knows a lot about frogs, spiders and snakes. All in all, we would come again.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The Cabanas are very nice and spacious. Loved the outdoor shower feel. Real fun seeing the wildlife around the property, especially the resident coaty (Poncho)
Cons: Room was quite cool and heat (I guess in Costa Rica it shouldn't be needed...) didn't work. But it was a specially cool night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast, excellent choice of fresh fruit. Very spacious and nicely decorated room. Very friendly staff, especially in the restaurant. Great pool and jacuzzis.
Cons: Dinner was very expensive and not that great. The rooms are very dark and would profit from adequate lights.

Is is such a picturesque setting in a river bend, we were sitting at the pool and hearing the water flowing by. Plus- it was the cleanest guesthouse we had in C.R. Tasteful decorated rooms, just perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Monica, Rob and Katherine were beautiful people! The property is beautiful and clearly a labor of love! The rooms were tastefully done and clean. Great shower. Great breakfast, the French toast was a home run!! And we watched 30 or so humming bird species at the feeders 5 feet away as we ate!!! Stunning property and sooo romantic! I was with my daughter, must go back with my husband!!
Cons: Don’t take the google maps short cut to this place go through the main town, contact the owners and get the directions, especially if driving a sedan.

Pros: We had a great stay here. The rooms were wonderful. The property was beautiful. The hosts were very kind, welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location in the middle of the tropical forest. Great breakfast in a fantastic nature setting. Great stop during the road trip to Tamarindo area. We felt we were in a paradise!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Area between restaurant/gift shop and B&B is like an arboretum, with a private lake in the middle. Lots of hummingbirds to watch when you dine on the back porch overlooking the lake. Took a short nature walk on the property and ran into a Coatimundi who climbed a small tree to continue his morning feeding. Monika, the owner, showed us a hummingbird nest and explained how they used cobwebs to line and soften the inside of the nest. She also fabricated the very artistic fiberglass "Mushroom" lights along the driveway.
Cons: Didn't like the fact that we only stayed one night, but plan to return on our next trip to Costa Rica.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in beautiful private grounds with lake, coffee shop and gallery. Very comfortable accommodation and excellent hosts. Only stayed one night but loved it!

Pros: Really beautiful premises. The staff were extremely helpful both before and during our stay. Lovely dogs too!
Cons: There were no things in the mini bar and the fridge couldn’t be plugged in as it was wrong plug type. We couldn’t buy water which was frustrating as it’s in quite a remote location. Would definitely recommend hiring a car as taxis work out very expensive!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Bird-watching was superb. We loved it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was simple , home cooked food. Was good
Cons: Wish the rooms were a little sound proof - The noise of the nocturnal animals and the crickets were way too loud and kept us awake

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for one night and received a free upgrade! Amazing views of the lake and Ceiba tree from our room. Would thoroughly recommend
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel was in a beautiful setting and the wildlife and birds that could be seen in the garden were great. Breakfast was very good and beautifully fresh.
Cons: We had not realised that although this hotel was geographically close to a couple of National Parks it was not possible to go easily as the entrances were a long way by road. I would advise only staying here if you have a car. We spent a lot of money on taxis. The amount of tourist information was extremely limited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location, rural, wildlife in abundance, peaceful and relaxing
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: We had a room with a fatastic view on Arenal Lake and the Ceiba Tree. Kind of a long drive (1h) to La Fortuna so once you finish the outside activities; it is difficult to drive out to dine outside for its jet back out there and the roads are curvy. Even the food was good for supper; it could have been less pricy.
Cons: The menu could have been less pricy $19$ for salad and fish or meet. Cheaper price would have been great. The food was delicious.
7.9 Good
Cons: It's a little too far from Fortuna
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large, comfortable room, well equiped bathroom, fantastic garden, lake view location, very friendly staff... unforgottable dinner. .it's really pity we could not stay more Special thanks to Dirk for the excelent guide..

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy check in and arrangements for breakfast, then out the door to see the local natural attractions. A quiet place with pleasant neighbors.
Cons: wifi almost didn't exist - not clear if only my device didn't like it - saw good signal for someone else
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was great! It is located in a beautiful rural area very close to the Rio Celeste Hike. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious with four hammocks on our porch. Breakfast was great and our host was wonderful!
Cons: The only downside was that we could not get WIFI in our room, only in the lobby/restaurant area. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our say.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant and kind host and the place has beautiful garden when you can walk around and relax. The host was kind enough showing around the garden and explained about different trees and plants.
Cons: Poor internet connection from the room.

Featured amenities include a computer station, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Property, staff, food
Cons: I've slept on pool tables that were more comfortable than the bed in our cabin.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mystica is as much an experience as it is a hotel stay. You feel as if you've slipped into your own private aura. This is a lovely place, peaceful, beautiful, cared for by incredibly thoughtful and positive hosts. We arrived here, slightly sunburned after 6 days at the beach. This was the perfect closer. The cool mountain air soothed our skin, the quiet atmosphere circled with hammocks and loungers rested our bones. It was everything we needed, before our flight out. It's worth a note as well, the food is wonderful across the board. Highly recommended. Thank you for having us.
Cons: Not a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view of the lake from this hilltop property. The grounds include a river, a yoga area with classes offered 4 x a week, a dipping pool and a labyrinth if so inclined. The furnishings and decor in the reception, restaurant and rooms is colorful and high quality. The beds have a cozy comforter for the cooler evenings. There is a short hike from the hotel to a very old and magnificent Ceiba tree, that offers wonderful views and wildlife. We saw howler monkeys and lots of birds. I highly recommend Mystica.
Cons: The beds were a bit hard, but to others they may be just right.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was amazing. The food was all so fresh. The fireplace was a nice relaxing place to sit and have a great drink and relax. The hammock outside the room provided an amazing place to rest with a view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food, Yoga platform, friendly staff and owner, animals and flowers... Just everything!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The food is nice, middle of nowhere relaxing/ disconnecting from the world kind of place
6.7 Good
Pros: People: nice, welcoming, and helpful Property: well kept and nice gardens; basically a bit of an esoteric yoga retreat. Breakfast: nicely prepared and fresh; breakfast room has a nice view of the Lake.
Cons: Location: the Western Lake Arenal wind farms are right behind the property. This is a big drawback—turbine masts are visible and also audible (including at night). Rooms: too basic for the price—no TV, no air conditioning, no plates/utensils, beds are futon style (hard), no WiFi in rooms. Standard rooms have a view of Lake Arenal; Bungalows face the jungle and the wind turbines (and are fairly damp). All rooms have some cute design features but they don’t make up for what is lacking.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything Room super clean, nice bathroom Good bed and beautiful garden Nice place to rest
Cons: The pool a bit cold to have a swim Breakfast could have more choice And prices a bit high for dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Very nice staff. Beautiful rooms. Good food. Lovely atmosphere. Peaceful.
Cons: Wish there were maybe more vegan options on menu!
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Some of the infrastructure such as light fixtures and the yoga platform needed some overhaul work. The pillows were a little harder than I would have liked and no AC.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely landlord and amazingly beautiful place
Cons: Beds were a bit U-shaped
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful location set on top of a hill overlooking Lake Arenal. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from the mini cabinas and hammocks. I brought my iSUP and had a short walk to the launch down the street ... NICE BAY FOR PADDLING! Very quiet even though its a 5min walk to main town. The host here went soo far beyond to get to know me and make sure I had everything I needed. I am going back on my way back through Arenal.
Cons: Wanted to stay longer!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host is very very kind! She is giving you the space you need but also checks up on you every now and then. I felt like I could always ask her about anything! The location is beautiful! The view, the silence and the little town (10 minutes walking) gives you everything you need!
Cons: It could have been a little cleaner.
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Basic accommodation but with amazing lake view, fruit trees galore, so many animals, and super friendly host that understands her guests’ needs
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This truly is a ‘little paradise’ - it’s peaceful, the views are AMAZING and you could not find a better host in all of Costa Rica! Alexandra is so helpful and friendly - she will do anything for you and you can contact her any time night or day if you have any questions. You can hire kayaks to take out on the lake and bikes if you want to explore. Or just relax with a good book in a hammock. Walk into town is about 15 mins and food at ‘Moya’s Place’ is fab. Cannot recommend this place or Alexandra enough!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view of the lake and volcano! Very nice & helpful staff!
Cons: If you don’t have a car it’s hard to reach

Pros: Friendly welcoming atmosphere!
Cons: Not applicable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We found the hosts very knowledgeable and accommodating to our needs. The location is very convenient and only few minutes away from the town of Nuevo Arenal and about an hour from the Arenal volcano. The property grounds are beautiful and create very peaceful atmosphere. The room was comfortable and has everything you need with a separate bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: Nothing in particular. Just be aware that the owners have 3 Great Dane dogs that are very friendly but not a place for someone who is afraid of dogs. Was not a problem for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely B&B, with gracious and knowledgeable hosts, Cathy and John. Picture watching honeycreepers, an oropendula and a toucan munch on bananas in the morning, with a magnificent view of Lake Arenal behind. And the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast excellent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were kind and nice to talk to. We love their dogs. Lots of wild birds to see and the view was amazing.

7.9 Good
Pros: They have great breakfast options, from the typical Costa Rican breakfast, to more American/European options. Very quiet place with wonderful breezes, trees and flowers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and well-kept property. Beautiful views of the Arenal lake. Friendly staff. Very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.
7.1 Good
Pros: We used this as a stop between La Fortuna and MonteVerde. This ended up being a perfect in between BUT the pictures of the lovely pool is not really where you are staying or using. The cabins are in the backside of the property and do not have a view. The room is spacious and if your visiting for a week it would be great. They have kitchenettes stocked with everything you need (except food). Our host was great, Kees. He really does want to make sure you enjoy your stay.
Cons: My sister and I both agreed these were the hardest, most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept in; and the pillows sucked too. I honestly didn't think I would ever fall asleep.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
7.9 Good
Pros: Owner is extremely outgoing and concerned that you have a great stay. His breakfasts exceeded our expectations.
Cons: Although view was excellent, the driveway is very steep and parking very tight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff The Room The View The Facility The breakfast The pool The calm and peaceful environment If feels local and not commercial or touristic The restaurants are further but their prices are fair and the food incredible
Cons: Nothing !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing and the location unbelievably beautiful. It is as stunning as in the photos and perhaps even more so. The owner runs his cabins with pride and works to make a good visit for everyone. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed exploring the area. If you like a cabin a bit remote then this is great. If you want a super lux experience then stay someplace else. Plan to arrive in the daytime! Rough roads and it is hard to find your way in the dark. Google offline maps are the only way to get there.
Cons: A few minor issues: 1) more lighting needed in kitchen 2) shower needs a shower curtain 3) shower head makes a wide and defuse spray On our first day the owner's young dog was too excitable and was nipping at us and biting our bags. This is after we had checked in so I would have expected a dog to realize the owner has indicated we were OK. It was getting a bit scary and we yelled to get the owner to pull away the dog. Finally, I had to put my car alarm on to distract the dog and the owner came out. After that the dog was on a leash and not a problem but it was an unpleasant experience and I would not have expected a dog to behave like this in an inn where people will be coming and going all the time.
7.9 Good
Pros: Getting away from tourists and cooling off. The temperature is definately 10 degrees cooler and lots of wind
Cons: Its off the usual tourist path a bit but you experience true costa rican culture. Prices on everything is better than in tourist areas so stock up on beer and other necessities before heading to the beach resorts. La fortuna is a nice drive but road repairs are ongoing so plan your drive allowing an extra hour. It wouldn't be advisable to drive on the dark. Kees the host and his wife are very hospitable. And the dogs are very friendly. Breakfast was great!

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Cows mooing next to Room throughout the night. No bathroom amenities. WiFi didn’t work. Old room - poor drainage in shower, no AC, no refrigerator, no tv, nothing pleasant about the room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were helpful and courteous.
Cons: The beds were very small and uncomfortable. The rooms were small and on the third floor without an elevator. The bathroom was not adequately supplied with toiletries and the sink faucet was broken.
7.1 Good
Pros: For Swiss it has a "home away from home" atmosphere.
Cons: The tourist train, the revolving restaurant and the cowshed give a wrong impression of Swiss standards.
7.5 Good
Pros: The atmosphere is fine, surroundings beautiful, food is good, well we liked it.
Cons: It needs an injection of life.
7.9 Good
Pros: I liked the hotel design, the train attraction, the lake view, the staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: New, clean, comfortable beds, you can see the Rio Celeste river at the back of the property, breakfast was very good.
Cons: Only suggestion I have would be brighter lights in the bathroom.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel are just a few meters from an access to Rio Celeste. I didn't imagine it could be so close, but could spend the day in the farm of the property (another plus) and of course around the river. The park and waterfalls are 20 minutes by car. Breakfast was amazing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were friendly and proud of their beautiful land and working farm. The swimming spot and picnic area are lovely.
Cons: It was more like a motel than a hotel in the layout. Practical, but not very charming.
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean and nice room.
Cons: We arrived late and took us like 1hr to get someone up in reception in order to check in. When I called they said the check in service was 24hrs. There was no guard in the entrance no one we could ask for help. The restaurant doesn't have natural drinks nor orange juice.

Pros: Very nice lodges spread out throughout the garden. Each has a patio with big compfy chairs and hammocks. Lovely pool (bit cold water due to rain season I guess). Nice and filling breakfast and smiley friendly staff.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful property, right on the edge of forest which was lovely. Lots of sounds of surrounding wildnerness. Has a nice pool as well, and the bungalows are nice private spaces. Enjoyed the flexibility of the outdoor and the jetted tub. Stylish space and nice, comfortable bed. Very clean.
Cons: My one major complaint was that the only coverage for the windows directly next to the bed to the public pathway are curtains that usually don't cover the window, especially if you have a fan on. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable like I might be exposed to someone walking by if I'm in bed. Also I am sensitive to light, and there was a very bright light for the path just outside our bedroom window, and with the fan on especially, the curtains came back and the light kept me awake. Would appreciate if they turned this light off at night! Also, the restaurant was not open (besides breakfast) which would be helpful to know ahead of time; my guess is that it's because it is the low season now
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was a beautiful location and property and we loved our experience!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property is just amazing... The gardens are beautiful and attract a lot of birds! Room was simple but clean. Breakfast was good and staff was nice!
Cons: Wifi didn't really work in the room, and shower water was cold.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Nice quiet retreat in the middle of the forest and animals come right into your backyard sometimes.
Cons: Hot water in the shower was hit and miss, but it was better than anywhere else I’ve stayed in Costa rica so far
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Privacy in the bungalows, it is very close to the Rio Celeste waterfall
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet, right in the jungle, close to the park, very helpful staff. Pool was great, a bit on the cool side but very refreshing
Cons: AC in only one of our two rooms.

7.9 Good
Pros: The owner was very personable and an excellent chef, we didn't have one meal that wasn't fantastic. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and they all worked well together. This hotel is well positioned just to the east of Nuevo Arenal with easy access to most tourist activities in the area.
Cons: We stayed in one of the two bungalows on the property that had an open shower with mosquito netting over the top, which was fine. Unfortunately there was a lot of rain during our two night stay and we found that everything in the room had a damp feel to it, especially the bedding.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was outstanding! The lady who cook was very nice as well as the owner. Decoration was very pretty!
Cons: No Tv. Bed was too tall. A/C produced a lot of noise
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location to explore Arenal and then get back to MonteVerde.
Cons: I have had better shower facilities but all very clean
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great dinner and very entertaining host! Breakfast with other guests outside was fabulous! We had a really good time at this stop.
Cons: TV in the room?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eyal was an amazing host and chef..we had the best experience ever and came back for an extra dining experience before moving on with our Costa Rican travels. Thank you Eyal..you are the most entertaining individual and the best cook ever!.. Would definitely recommend!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great visit! Staff was wonderful, Eyal was a riot, and the food was top notch. The whole visit was an “experience”, and that is something you just don’t find many places. Thanks again!
Cons: What’s not to like?
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Probably the best restaurant you could find in Costa Rica. The staff are very attentive to your every need as is the Chef/Owner. Can’t find a more fun place to eat at.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Alexandra was a wonderful hostess! She answered all questions and helped us to solve all of our business matters. Great restaurant on the property with a family that aims to please!
6.3 Good
Pros: Big room and clean. Very kind staff allowed us to use their kithcen
Cons: A little bit isolated
7.9 Good
Pros: Perhaps, because it was just before busy season and we booked the night before, but they had no idea we were coming. A bit of chaos when we got there, but after that, everything was great. The rooms are setup on their land and overlook the lake. They are farmers and so the place has a ranch vibe to it. Unfortunately, we were on the go, but we would have liked to have tried some of the food as many things come from their farm.
7.1 Good
Pros: Owners super nice and doing a fantastic job with mentally disabled children via horse therapy
Cons: The photos show a huge pool and it’s just a tiny portable plastic tank type
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food very cheap, local and good, staff very nice and welcoming , very well located
7.1 Good
Pros: The owner, Alejandra was very friendly.
Cons: Very basic. Walls are paper thin, you hear the family who lives right behind you. The pictures suggest a view on the lake, but that´s not the case (unless you walk up the hill to an open area).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good place to visit Arenal and with a little earlier morning Monteverde as well.
Cons: Our bathroom had broken shower head so we had to use another bathroom. Staff was trying to solve the situation and we were offered another room. The breakfast wasn't as good in comparison with other places we have visited.
