The setting, isolated on a rocky peninsula in extensive grounds and with a lovely pool area. The setting, isolated from the town of St Feliu too far to walk on a poorly lit road up/down a significant hill.Too corporate afeel about the place, dominated by a large conference when we stayed there.
Good location for us. Lovely outlook and gardens. Pools very nice but concrete surrounding a bit "rusty?" in places
the veiw from room was great, food very good, staff were excellant. no transport down to town
We liked the position of the hotel, not too near the town but within walking distance. The hotel had everything we wanted, a lovely outdoor pool, a beautiful spa pool, its own rocky beach. The evening buffet was excellent and very good value. The room with balcony and sea view was beautiful.
Excellent location, staff tried hard, room was exactly average. This could be a stunning boutique hotel but it needs a truck-load of money thrown at it. Everything is looking very tired, but the location could not be faulted
The beautiful setting, views and proximity to the sea. Very good value. The bathroom had an odd layout and the shower flooded the bathroom into the bedroom on each morning use.
Fantastic setting with stunning views, buffet breakfast excellent. Pool and spa areas well designed with lovely views. Room comfortable. The Hotel could be regarded as genteel but slowly decaying. The whole place could uses a facelift. Navigating through the gardens to the pool areas is an unexpected and, for me, unwelcomed adventure. To compete, everything needs to be brought into the 21st century with a shed load of Euros being thrown at it.
Location is a nice cove in an over developed zone of the Costa Brava. Should be closed for a year of renovation. Staff fairly unfriendly, possibly due to high season pressures.
Breakfast was good. Hotel standard was good and more modern then some of the reviews I read. Location was great and very pitoresk up in the mountain in between 2 beaches. Especially receptionists are almost unpleasant and more or less ignore you. No brochure about the hotel available, no information abuot the surroundings and receptionist more or less very unhelpful, although i do speak Spanish. Hence just forget it if you don;t speak the language, even english is no good. Overall, very hard to get comprehensive information quickly about the hotel and surrounding precious villages, beaches , restaurants etc.
everything was good, in general no complains, great SPA area, breakfast, piano bar on saturday (live concert) if you are going to stay on weekend and want to use treatments and massages, make sure you made booking a couple of days before, normally treatments on weekends are fully reserved.
breakfast good wellness center
Very good breakfast, pool and location. No air conditioning, no english language tv channels, very expensive bar, no alcohol or soft drinks in mini-bar.
Clean and quiet The staff spoke very little English
Impressive building, lovely gardens, spacious rooms. Bus stop nearby Noisy plumbing - ear plugs needed. About 800 metres from sea front & restaurants up hill so a challenge for the unfit! Could do with a second toaster - one unable to cope with even a medium rush.
Nice and cosy hostal located in walking distance from the beach (Platja Sant Pol). Beautiful garden.
The garden breakfast could have a richer choice including "jamon iberico". The toaster is too slow.
Much better than I expected. Huge rooms and bathrooms. Very nice building and garden area. It was central to town. It's 3 star, but fine considering price. I thought garden would be much larger and the hotel was out of town. The garden is nice, but just grass around the pool.
Large, lots of beds, friendly staff. Very difficult to check into, on a sketchy street.
Nice building with a pool. 10-minute walk to the city center and the beach. Very friendly and helpful people at the desk. No air conditioning in the room. Low-quality breakfast. Uncomfortable beds.
Hospitality of the reception personal and excellent garden
Very nice garden with pool. Lots of flowers and luxuriant greenery. Parking just sufficient alongside the hotel building. Great value for money.
Lovely pool and plenty deckchair space. Bar staff for pool bar extremely friendly and obliging. Central for exploring some fantastic beaches on the Costa Brava. Breakfast adequate and very pleasant outdoor tables at which to eat it. Hotel exterior pretty. Parking for guests. Located handily off main roundabout on approach to Sant Feliu du G. Bit of a trek down busy street to beach area if you had children and a lot of baggage but as we had car it was very handy not to have to join the beach traffic when leaving/arriving from other nearby nicer beaches.
The reception staff were excellent, the buffet breakfast was to our liking, the pool was a good size in a lovely garden and the rooms were clean and tidied every day. The staff spoke varying degrees of english but the daytime receptionist was exceptional. It is excellent value for money. It is a 10 minute walk from the main San Feliu beach or the beautiful Sant Pol beach. The road outside is quite busy but we were not really aware of it.
The staff were very good, friendly & helpful, especially in helping us with our air carrier who lost our luggage. The noise. It is on a very busy main road, which was being re-paved at the time we stayed there. Ask for a room off the main road.
Room with sea view was spectacular. The hotel is built on a cliff with a golden beach (coarse sand) beneath it. Reception were very helpful and friendly and the room rate was very good indeed. The room was very comfortable and relaxing. Attitude and working approach of the breakfast staff left a lot to be desired. They were noisy, sullen and on the first day when we were late down to breakfast one of them was very hostile. This would not be acceptable in a 2-star hotel and much less in a 4-start resort. In addition, why does the hotel charge for overnight car parking? This may be common in some hotels, but was unexpected for us coming from Ireland.
The wonderful situation of the hotel abit rnu down in the bedrooms section awful coffee for breakfast
The view from the room over the sea, beach, rocks and pine trees is stunning. One of the best breakfasts I've had in Spain; really lovely lounge, bar, terrance and spa. Unlucky they had a wedding party on the Saturday we were there but they stopped the dancing at 11.45pm so very good really.
The staff were caring and helpful. The view of the sea was amazing. Strange smell in the room(not too bad).
Wonderful view from room of beach etc A bit far out from town, staff were not 'cheerful', decor needs some money spent on it, & 7euro per night car parking charge was a disappointing, hidden extra
We stayed at a triple bed room which has fatastic view, we could see sunrise from sea on the bed. Blackfast and dinner was nice with reasonable price, we will stay the hotel again in case of visiting San jose again. highly recommended. Wifi is available only at public area/
Nature, location, room price, breakfast..... drainpipe to sea, internet costs
The hotel is ideally situated about 15 mins walk from the town and commands beautiful views of the beach and cove below. As others have observed, the bedroom corridor needs new carpet which detracts from the otherwise quality feel of the hotel. The restaurant was disappointing but that wasn't really an issue as there is an excellent choice in the town.
Great location, comfortable room. Good breakfast. Restaurant expensive with very small portions. (Not for a hungry golfer). Bar closed at 12pm
The relaxed friendly atmosphere, spending the day in a bathrobe if you felt like it, great breakfast selection and beautiful views of the sea.
Near to Playa D'Aro and fronts directly onto the beach although difficult to access. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff the opposite. Good sized room with terrace and sea views. Luxury fittings throughout and unusually furnished and decorated but all quality. A good four star hotel but not quite a five. Fairly small bathroom for all the fittings provided. Expensive for dinner served in comparatively small restuarants. Hotel not geared for children which suited us. Bedrooms overlook terracing to bar and restuarant areas which could prove noisy in season.
the view of a construction site.

Wonderful breakfast, perfect rooms and service, always a pleasure to be there
The staff ~ friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel ~ Clean, fresh smart but cassual
The hotel was just amazing, 5 stars in every respect. The spa was first class, the views from the pool were so nice, and the private beach cove was also really cool. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Overall, one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in, and it's unquestionably the spot to stay in Platja d'Aro if you're looking for something upscale. So what are you waiting for?!? Only slight negatives were there was some construction that blocked our ocean view from the balcony, and the a/c unit wasn't working properly so the room was hot and dry during the night (which probably would have been fixed if we'd noticed the problem before midnight).
helpful staff, spa restaurant didnt have half of dishes and vines mentioned in menu; beach is too small and not kids friendly, we had to walk to other beach
Hi,I spent 17 days in Spain ( 30July-16 Aug) with my wife and son (9). Booked Cala del Pi. We were really upset, becouse this hotel is pretty far from being 5* grade European hotels. There are several reasons: a. sound insulation is the worst I ve ever seen. You can hear everything is going on in rooms around your room, and also how the housekeeper cleans the upper room in 8-30 in the morning. b.
due to a fire the week before the hotel was closed, for a few weeks booking . com should have know. It is a fabulous hotel otherwise the staff were amazing , we had the best ervice and the hotel all for ourselves , but of course no facilities that was the only reason we went to that hotelfor our wedding anniversary , we will be back next year definetly
The position The receptionist didn't ask for any confirmation document until after we had gone to our rooms. Then there was a demand for the number which unfortunately I had left at home. There was a suggestion that we would have to leave despite our names being registered and this caused a lot of stress. In addition because I thought that payment had already been made I was concerned that I would be charged double with the hassle of reclaiming. eventually agreeed that I would try and get in contact with associate. Spent a lot of time trying to get info requested from my e-mail account with no success. In morning we were advised that there would be no problem then when we checked out we were advised that we had to pay the bill because my original credit card had been used only to guarantee booking. There was a language difficulty but if the staff had explained that fact earlier it would have prevented a lot of stress especially to my wife and guests. I still don't undertand the importance of us having the confirmation number as the hotel had all the information from you and they copied our passports.
breakfast was excellent, also the bar and restaurant, and proximity to sea room was rather small
The Hotel S'Agaro is just across the street from the beach, so the location is wonderful! We could see the ocean from our room, and would have had even a better view, except for the beautiful huge trees in the garden and on the grounds that create an exclusive feel to the hotel. The breakfast buffet was the best I'd experienced in Spain. The maid was a sweetheart; so friendly and helpful. Even though she couldn't speak English she went above and beyond to help us out. We had a quaint little balcony, large enough for two chairs and a small table. The bathroom was quite large. There was only one computer available for patrons to use for internet access, and the internet was very, very slow the night I used it. The cost of using the internet was one euro for 10 minutes, which I thought quite high considering the slowness of the internet access there. I wanted to print my boarding pass for my flight home the next day, so there should have been a printer available, but there wasn't. The "standard double room" has only one double bed, and the room was quite tiny.
The location is great. Antique furniture which makes it all very romantic. Clean. The hotel is surrounded bu pine trees, a fontain at the entrance. The room was very modest for a 4 star, but the bathroom was new and clean. TV was vey small. The sunbeds around the pool are worn-out. Breakfast is limited to minimum necessary.
Beautiful setting.Fantastic bathroom with jacuzzi bath and shower.Made our two dogs welcome. .Coffee machine confusing in the restaurant for breakfast and no help from staff.
very pleasant environment
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was lovely with the large gardens, pool and sea views from the terraces. Breakfast buffet was very good. The fact that if you don't have a room with a pool view you are then looking out the back of the hotel to other buildings and a view of the hotel's solar panels, and have to suffer the noise from deliveries into the tradesmen's entrance.
The hotel has lush grounds with views of the sea, a big pool, and good access to the walking path around S'Agaro, which must be one of the most beautiful strolls in the world. They were also kind enough to store our bags and let us enjoy the use of the grounds after check-out time.
The location of the hotel The room was far too small and a bit noisy
The restaurant was on the pricey side and parking a little difficult.
Very peaceful, room always cleaned perfectly, dog friendly, easy for golf courses good selection of restaurants
Large room, good position of hotel in the resort, and good food. Excellent parking.
Staff were very helpful, even after I had left the Hotel for 2 days, to stay at a prearranged Conference at another Hotel, I popped back in after an excellent hike along the coastal path, and they were very kind in booking me a taxi. Congratulations on your excellent staff service. It should have been made clearer on www.booking.com that this Hotel is in Sant Pol and not in Sant Feliu de Guixols. It was a good walk to get from one resort to the other.
The location and acces fascility , spacious room , very clean No negative points
a very nice hotel with good facilities and situated close to the beach. perhaps a suggestion is to extend the number of dishes on the menu. although we enjoined what was offered.
Location friendly staff, good food Only one English speaking TV station
Relaxed friendly and cooperative staff (with only one dining room exception). Very helpful receptionists. 1.Think seven euros a day parking in hotel grounds (not under cover) was excessive given relatively high room price of 116 euros for a three star hotel 2. Swimming pool was more for show than serious use as it was located directly adjacent to a dining area with no splash barrier.
Everything was exellent--I really do mean everything !--The food was like a 5 Star Hotel Cant think of anything
Breakfast and the restaurant. Also the bar and the staff were all very good.
The location of hotel plus the quality of room and balcony Matresses on twin beds were soft. Food in restaurant in evening minimal portions so bad value.
excellent location, 2 mins walk from the beach. Hotel room very clean, soft towels, minibar and nice balcony overlooking the market square.
A small, friendly hotel, close to the beach and restaurants, and overlooking the market square. Clean comfy rooms with lovely soft towels which were changed each day. I had continental breakfast in my room each day, sitting on the balcony overlooking the market square where there was always something to watch going on. The roof terrace was ideal for sunbathing. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a 2 minute walk to the fabulous beach. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel it does have its own restaurant, the Bahia, about 100 yards away on the promenade, which is excellent. The hotel is situated overlooking the market square and it was very noisy on the Sunday morning from an early hour as the market was being set up. The next morning the street cleaning truck was out early and was very noisy, and kept coming back around the square for well over an hour (this was around 7 a.m). The hotel is opposite the town hall and very close to the church, both of which had clocks which chimed every hour. Unfortunately they didn't chime at the same time, so at midnight there was a total of 24 chimes. This went on all night so made sleeping very difficult.
Comfortable room and good shower Noisy at night and first thing in the morning (overlooks the market place)
Excellent buffet breakfast. Lovely pool and view of nice beach. Off seasonso nice and quiet. Beautiful coastal paths. Very friendly staff despite negative comments we read on internet!! Sorry it closed for the winter months as we would have looked forward to going there for another off season break.
The night receptionist was super helpful when we needed to print out a boarding pass and were having trouble with the internet connection. The seaview from our room was beautiful, but the hotel is very basic otherwise. We came in mid-October and it's probably a much nicer stay during beach season. Free parking along the street jut outside the hotel. The afternoon receptionist was friendly did not seem to know the area well to make any recommendations about what to see and where to eat in the area. We came in mid-October and the hotel was deserted. The hallways, staircase, and lobby were unlit and made us feel very uncomfortable walking through the hotel in the spooky dark main areas. There is no gym and internet is only available in the reception lobby. The area is a beach town and felt like an abandoned ghost town when we visited.
The magnificant views from the rooms Hotel buffet dinner was particularly poor. Food was cold, quality of meat was poor and generally very bad value for money. Breakfast was good but tea and coffee poor.
Good hotel in a great position - all areas modern, clean and airy - sea view rooms worth paying for. We stayed at the end of the season so only few restaurants were open in S'Agaro. Lovely coastal path walks. Very disappointed with the food in the hotel. Breakfast was fair. Had one evening meal and thought choice and quality was poor - we ate at the beginning of the buffet time and the food was not hot - did not eat at the hotel again.
Reception staff very professional and efficient and an under rather than over-designed simple clean modern interior space with a main building that does not dominate the location..... plus trees around it. Bar staff could be more efficient
Not a lot! Food was poor, cold, poor presentation, selection for breakfast same each day, poor bar service, SKY News was not available
The location of the hotel was great, and so was the possibility to enjoy breakfast and dinner outside. The room was a bit dark and untidy.
Location, actually on the beach, good sea view, free internet and excellent breakfast choice The pool was freezing would be nice if heated during cooler months but beach was excellent so swam there instead
Breakfast buffet is excellent with wide selection of food. Nice sea-view from the room. Silent becuse the hotel is upon the beach not just in front of the beach. Price is perhapse a little bit too high compared with other same level hotels because hotel is quite old anyway.
Lovely setting, good pool, excellent food & spacious room. Very good breakfast. The directions to the hotel were poor. Airconditioning not working efficiently.Out of season only open on Friday & Saturday.
Very friendly . Nice and clean
Service was excellent but the location is absolutely wonderful. Great views, very relaxed environment, lots of room to sit and relax outside - coffee/bar, pergola, poolside loungers, room balcony. Car require to get around (£105 for 6 days 'Economy Hire'). Beach 10 mins drive, supermarket 6 mins. Mas Tapiolas restaurant is good but expensive (gourmet style).
Our second stay. Difficult to find faults - lovely room, pool, restaurant & setting. Helpful & friendly staff. Some exciting dishes, but unfortunately appears to be more straight grilled meats than last time. Very interesting seasonal mushroon menu - including mushroom ice cream. Unfortunately out of season only open on Friday & Saturday nights. Not must to do in the locality away from the hotel without taking the car.
Interesting countryside peaceful hotel, good value for money. However, it's not so easy to find. Only if you have a car.
Everything! The view from the balcony was beautiful and relaxing, the staff was friendly, the breakfast offered a big variety, and the hotel restaurant offered some excellent dishes (try one of the ice creams). The air conditioning was a little loud.
the location is stunning, beautiful views and decent well trained staff and they kept the restaurant open for lunch when we arrived at 2.45. nicely decorated and well maintained. the cleaners are good, they spent an hour cleaning the surroundings of the indoor pool.
Wonderful hotel in a unique setting with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, close to some of the best natural beaches in Spain (calas), nice large rooms with all the comforts, excellent service (especially Aziz, Carles, Alex, Sofia and Isabel), lovely pool with comfortable sunbeds, good restaurant and breakfast buffet. We expect to return some day! Some of the waiters could have been a little bit more pro-active, too often we had to call them to be served, the minibar was practically empty and didn't cool the drinks we bought. Some of the bathroom towels need to be replaced as they are too old.
Location and overall quality Nothing
Mas Tapiolas was a beautifully restored Masia. Very peaceful and in lovely grounds. Sometimes nie to have an alternative to the sea. Like most of these type of hotels, impossible to 'walk out' to another restaurant - but we knew that when we booked.
the hotel is beautiful with a lovely surroundings, the breakfast was good and we really loved the hotel. it has a wonderfull swimming pool and spa.
The hotel is lovely, situated right next to the beach on the Costa Brava in a charming small town. The staff are phenomonally helpful and friendly, and directed us to not only some very good local restaurants and bars, but also to locations along the coast that we very much enjoyed. Our room was beautiful, and oversaw a beautiful stretch of the Med. We would absolutely stay here again.
Fabulous in all respects - we stayed 2 days and it felt like a week Nothing
The pool and spa were excellent and its situation overlooking the sea and beach were just brilliant. We stayed in a suite which had no balcony and for the astronomical price we paid I would have expected one. The shower was over the bath and once again I would have expected a separate shower in a suite.
The place is enchanting. The appointments are exquisite. The location is fantastic! Great place for couples, honeymooners, romance....The surrounding area and beaches are phenomenal! The only disappointment was that the candlelight restaurant which they are famous for was not open yet. Considering that it was the beginning of July and the weather was fabulous, I do not understand why they had not opened it yet. The hotel staff was very nice and attentive, however, they were mostly new and inexperienced.
The position of La Gavina is stunning with the swimming pool overlooking the bay of S'agarro. We love the old-school luxury mixed with genuine caring and friendliness from the staff. Considering they are struggling to get guests this season you would have thought they might drop their prices a bit - it's very pricey!
Grand hotel....room, facilities, and staff were excellent. no
the room, light & airey',and very clean airconditioning, plenty sun loungers, no etertainment,. bar to small.
beach, city, space around hotel and pool, food ... disproportion number of people and services/facilities, time cleaning rooms and incomplete change equipments in bathroom
It was quiet enough as I stayed here due to business. Communication was a problem as I don't speak spanish and staff engish was very limited. Food repetative, but if you were prepared to wait and queue for the duty chef to cook fresh it was good but still repetative.
we got moved here from another hotel that had decided to close for the winter, good food and nice staff. don,t think I would come in hight of season. a very small pool area for amount of rooms, could be busy..we will use again though as we have a house in france and like to visit spain for a few nights off season would have liked wifi in roms as well as public areas
Location right on the beach and close to main street of resort area Chaotic at meal times; not enough staff to clear tables. Also, terraced area outside restaurant should have been washed daily due to spillages.
We toured around the coast and eat out We would not recomond the breakfeast , we went across to the local bakery for ours.
Views from room were fantastic and location very good. Female bar staff were rude, very expensive for drinks.
The location was very good and the hotel was a good price for what it is.
Rooms fairly clean and comfortable. Food hot and varied. lots of French, Spanish Dutch & German guests so problems with noise. Packed lunches very poor. Floors in busy areas washed at busy morning period (dangerous). Car park charge extortionate and unneccesary.
There was one lovely man at the check in desk... Spent two days in summer without aircon. Reported to the staff four times without any result. The stench of breakfast made it inedible. The dining room was like a herd of cattle at feeding time. The pool was so crowded with screaming children we did our best to avoid it all times. Beach was overrun with package tourists. Have travelled through Europe for ten years and have never experienced anything like it. We were promised a reduced rate due to the aircon problem....but on check out noone seemed to be able to provide this....
24 h service, friendly front desk staff
the hotel wasn't ready to welcomed guests and it lacks manteinance
The room I was moved to was far better than that originally allocated When I complained about the room I was first put in [windows covered with bird muck, and unopenable], staff said that I was allocated that room because I had booked on the internet and
The ease of having teenage boys be able to run around safely. The bar right when we walked into the lobby. The buffet eating (even though it wasn't very good). The food was not very good. My pillows smelled bad. Room key issues the whole stay. Every day we had to get all new keys because they stopped working. Some front desk personal very unhelpful. Hot water issues in showers some of the stay.
Reception staff were excellent and the location is good. The bar service was pathetic.
de sfeer erg gezellig de luxe van het all inclusive goede variatie in eten soms wat lauw maar smaak prima iedere avond entertainment geen klachten de familie kamer beetje klein maar om te slapen prima erg schoon
Everything. the staff was very polite and helpfull, the room and the food was good.
Just value for money... Very basic. Even if it fits the 4 star hotel requirements unfortunately you do not fell like staying in a 4 start hotel.
Not a 4 star hotel.rooms are 2 star, rest of hotel is 3 star
Very little, thanks to a change of Management and in particular a steep decline in food and drink standards. The Hotel has gone "all inclusive"....a major mistake. Restaurant facilities severely declined and no waiter service or decent wines available. Food vey poor.
Very good pool area, with sensible regulations and lifeguards offering security and hindering sunbed reservations. Very good standard and cleaning on the room. Very nice design both rooms and area. Very high maintenance The that is served in the outdoor restaurant was of a low quality and very poorly prepared. A restaurant that ou only will eat at once.
The landscape was fantastic, very clean paths and a lot of pine trees. Swimming pool and hydro-massage are very nice. Send beach is not faraway from the hotel. Location of the hotel is fine. Kitchen facilities should be replaced with the new one. Four star hotel should be able to provide fresh towels each day, rather then every third day. Managers should consider some change for the garage entrance, presently it is not easy to get card reader from the car.
