Pros. Garrett's Desert Inn is not a hotel in which you spend most of your time lounging in the rooms, contemplating your trip. The rooms are small, with small bathrooms, few windows, and crt TVs. But, the key feature of the Desert Inn is that it's a one-minute walk from the main downtown area of Santa Fe! The rest of the hotels near this area run $300+, which is ridiculous, since you should be sleeping in your hotel, then immediately leaving and walking around beautiful downtown Santa Fe. And that's exactly what Garrett's provides: Their beds are clean, soft, and comfortable. Get a good night's sleep, then spend the day exploring!
Pros. Location about 3 blocks off the plaza. Nice room, large with fridge and micro. Good beds.
Cons. Only negative was the desk clerk mis-coded the room keys and had to go back and get them re-done.
Pros. location, green chile cheeseburger
Cons. poor wifi, dirty linens, horrible beds, TV from 1992, beat up rooms, stained floors and walls, paper thin walls. not worth the money at all.
Pros. Wonderful location, right by downtown. Easy walk to downtown and tourism sites. Lots of parking (although they charge extra to park). Friendly staff. Room was a bit old-fashioned but clean.
Cons. When you add in the $8/day parking charge and the fact that they don't serve breakfast, it's not quite the deal it may seem at first. Also, the room was quite light at night--there were only blinds, which didn't keep out the lights from the parking area.
