The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very good. The best part was the beach area and the manmade cove to swim in. The views from the back of the hotel are fab and the grounds are very well kept. The car parking is charged at €12 per night and the beach chairs are charged at €14 per charge per day..... this was only explined to us when we were checking out and received a much larger bill than expected.
Great location and great views across the bay. Bedroom was small and the hotel charged extra for sunbed and changing huts at €18 per day and we only found when we paid the bill at the end! In addition they charge a further €12 per day for a parking space!
friendliness and cleanliness
Location and ease of use
The location and the staff(and food) Rooms a little small and in need of refurbishment
Terrible bed very hard poor quality mattress and pillows. Was told I could move rooms so packed all luggage up and told next day we would have to pay another 50 euros. So we kept the same room. Also very noisy doors slamming in morning.Very old cutlery and run down fixtures. Very expensive I have stayed in better 2 and 3 star hotels in Santa Margherita before
The panorama is wonderful. Breakfast was good. Parking service - good. Reception desk - fair. Everything else - less then poor. Rooms (we had 3) old and small. Service of staff - lazy and slow. Price much too high for what we got. Dinner at the hotel restaurant - simple but costly. Service at the restaurant - terrible (an hour waiting for first dish, served almost cold).
the grounds and view of the area the beds are as hard a wood.
Beautiful grounds, view from the balconies, and proximity to downtown area.
A Hotel with magnificant water views close to town beautiful gardens . "Just superb" Would stay there again
The hotel was centrally located and the staff was amazingly helpful and polite If you get a family room the beds are not very comfortable also the spa is really non-existent and you have to book the sauna an hour in advance
The hotel is well located. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable Parking was a little expensive
great location automated breakfast area was not that great would prefer fresh juice and cappucino not from a mchine dispenser
The view from the room was amazing. It had a very nice feel about it. the dining area for breakfast could be updated.
The location was the best in front of the marina and within a short stroll to the centre of santa margherita. The room view was stunning looking at the marina and the bay. The room was spacious with basic furniture. The hotel staff was very helpful.
The attitude of the staff no
Pretty much everything was excellent, except for the closed swimming pool... The personell is extremely nice and helpful... Nothing.
The sea view of my room
i thought the staff were articularly good and friendly and professional and very helpful, plus i had a very nice room for a very reasonable amount
location excellation , close to everything , walk everywhere, great staff nothing a problem .. would stay thier again
We were delighted that the many poor reviews that we had read about this hotel proved completely untrue. Staff were helpful and not surly, rooms were spacious, clean and fresh and the facilities all worked without problem. Like everywhere in Santa Margherita it is very expensive when compared with similar hotels in other countries.
I think the price for the room was good and it was not too far from the center. The Hotel staff - at the receprion , the waiters, and esp.the barkeepers- was unfriendly.
Service was brilliant, everyone was so helpful. Food was really excellent. Really enjoyable. The only downside was the road noise, but that can be forgiven given all the plusses.
very nice place good hotel
Poor air conditioning and no place to sit in room or lobby to read.
nice room food was not so good.
The best hotel we have ever stayed at. It is quite expensive but well worth the cost. We hope to return another year. Summarising - fabulous Only having to leave in order to visit Venice.
There was no internet access in the rooms - not good for a 5-star hotel
good staff wonderful food great view super bedroom but with frequent bad sewage smell fortunately able to leave balcony doors open
The location was both good and bad. Good due to the nice view of the bay of Santa Margarita and its proximity to town....walking distance. The road just below the hotel causes some noice as well as fume/exhaust issues..... See above...
location we stayed at this hotel purely because it advertised a swimming pool . Only to discover that you have to pay 36 euro to have access to the pool , per person per 24 hours . A complete rip off . Have never experienced this in any hotel world wide . The service is Not 5* , Front desk staff answer the telephone whilst attending to a customer, anyone in the service industry would know that this is a definate No No ?? for the price of this hotel for one night you should be able to get 2 nights at an equally nice hotel . If you want 5 star service and facilitys forget Italy , Go to Dubai ...
Very gorgeous hotel -- perfectly appointed. the height of luxury and very nice staff.great breakfast bufffet. loved the health spa and pool area. lovely clean rooms -- just perfect in every wat. My dinner of a very small amount of pasta (without meat) was very very expensive for what I got -- amounted to about $30. U.S. for a tiny bowl of pasta and no vegies or anything else with it.
Fantastic location and facilities. Only disappointment was the Lord Byron Restaurant. Food disappointing and given the cost very poor value.
A wonderful hotel in every respect Very minor---At breakfast each day, the eggs, and bacon were cold even though I was there quite early (between 7 and 8).
perfect location...perfect views ...most luxourios in portofino coast but rooms to be renovated and there must be coffee an tea facilieties in the room but over all a very pleasent stay in great portofino..
We enjoyed the luxury in the hotel, and the great view from our room, the beautiful swimming pool and the friendly staff. Rapallo is a lovely town with a harbour and some nice restaurants. Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligurie are around the corner, so great hotel to stay if you are visiting Portofino and surroundings.
Location and lovely view from hotel room window. We were there a very short time so did not get to use all the hotel facilities. We were very disappointed with the meal we had in the Lord Byron restaurant - not value for money. The courses were very expensive but the food we had was very mediocre. Breakfast was good however.
Everything was Perfect!!!!
A really beautiful hotel with charm and courtesy. The staff were very well mannered and attentive. The views from the dinning were stunning and the food excellent.
We felt very welcome and enjoyed every moment. The view and the friendly staff were just wonderful.
Staffs are nice, the food is good. View from our room is fantastic. The mattress is too soft
Nice private beach, close to town, rooftop pool, and beautiful views. We rented a boat from the close by marina and had a wonderful time crusing the coast including stops at Portofino. Santa Margarita is a wonderful town and has something for everyone on the Italian Riviera. Beds were very firm. We arrived by car, if you arrive by train with lot's of luggage a taxi would be a good idea.
it was great to have an ocean view room with a balcony for this price in this area various choice of food for breakfast convenient to have a busstop right in front of the hotel the room is cosy and very clean but decoration is a bit serious / business like for a resort hotel
location professionalism and courtesy of the staff facility- beautiful and very comfortable food I liked everything about the hotel.
The access to the roof-top swimming pool. General location. The mattress and pillows were very hard. Decor in our room was dated.
Seaview rooms_Whirpool/pool area_Dining
The view The rooftop terrace was closed and the amenities listed were not all available. The air conditioning was too hot and we could not turn it down, hence we had to sleep with the terrace door open which was noisy, and the hotel staff told us the next morning that they can turn off the heating at the desk. The menu was too restricted.
The hotel is well positionned The room was very small. The bed was old and the deco was old-faashioned
The location is fantastic--right across the road from the Med Sea. It is a little expensive, but so is that whole area.
We had a beautiful view of the harbor from our room. Complimentary breakfast very good. Convenient location. Internet available on site. Nothing
We absolutely loved our stay here....hearing the waves at night in bed, view of the ocean from the balcony, choice of hot and cold breakfast, lunch by the beach and the staff!! We could not have asked for a more enjoyable venue! Nothing to not like! Everything was done with care and a friendly smile!
Great breakfast, oceanview, friendly staff Pricey dinners. Internet access is expensive relative to other Italian hotels.
Hotel is very nice, location excellent, staff was helpful. And I can recommend room 181, two balconies, 1 of them quite big, and the scenwery was great.
I liked the location of the hotel and the cleanliness. I also enjoyed the breakfast. Having been to Italy many times and having been to Rome and Florence prior to arriving at Santa Margherita, I was a little disappointed by the unfriendliness of the front desk staff. They were efficient but there was a lack of friendliness or desire to help. Never a good morning or goodnight unless addressed first by me.Upon leaving, we needed assistance to get the train which is only 5 minutesaway. The day we left it was about 40 C and it would havebeen difficult to walk the 5 minute walk uphill to the station with the motor cycles flying by. A taxi cost us 15 euros , a big ripoff and this something I feel the hotel should have helped the guest with even a small fee being charged. ( why not have shuttlegiven it is a5min. drive/
The hotel is, in general, good to excellent. Our problem was with our dog. They say that pets are accepted - but "tolerated" would be a better word. They did provide an evening meal for the dog (meat scraps + rice) - for a cost of an extra EUR 12 per night - but the problem is that dogs are not allowed in their splendid gardens nor on their (tiny) beach,In short, if you have a dog, go elsewhere.
The hotel is located right on the waterfront, with wonderful views along the coast. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Very friendly staff. Good location. Nice gardens and beach area where our 4 year old could play safely (sunny though October!)
Peacefull and relaxing atmosphere. Close to the shops and restaurants. Nice lunch restaurant overlooking beutifull bay. Nice staff. It was not annoying fir us but the average age was about 80! We made jokes about staying in a retirement home...
friendly cozy comfy reasonable quiet location need facelift getting on...
I loved the view out of my room. I had Mediterranean at my feet, literally 5 meters away. It was unbelievable. Breakfast could be better. They might think of adding fresh juices to the menu and more cold cuts.
I liked the park, staff was friendly, breakfast was ok Old furniture, noise from the street
We were offered an upgrade for a supplement which gave us a junior suite. This room was on the top floor of the main hotel building with 2 balconies looking out towards bay and sea respectively. The balcony was a wonderful place to take in a leisurely breakfast. The hotel has an excellent position and is within easy walking distance of the town. The rooms are certainly not what one might consider as 4 star and the downstairs area is certainly rather sparse. That being said this seems to be the norm in most of the 4 star hotels including those much more expensive than the Metropole.
Location- fantastic. junior suite or above is a must- again fantastic.( but all rooms are V. comfortable) Views-fantastic. Staff lovely and helpful, restaurant good, American bar bright and cool, secure garage for your car. A great place for young or old, couples or singles. We will return next year with our new baby! Make sure you iron evrything before you go, as they dont provide irons (against IT law) and the ironing service is expensive (e25 for 6 items). Breakfast was a bit disappointing, ie quality & range of continental breakfast poorish. ( asked for a tomato and was told it would cost e1 extra !!) Saying all that, it will not put us off from staying again.
Location of the hotel and view of the harbor is perfect. Staff was friendly and helpfull. The hotel is outdated and needs renovation. There is no safe in the room. The meal for breakfast (particularly sausage) was not fresh. Very high price for parking.
The easy location. The interior decoration of the hotel, while redone and clean, is not at all in line with the elegance of the exterior and with the rating. The room did not live up to the "deluxe suite" appellation, did not correspond to the photographs when I made the booking, and was decorated in solid but fairly tasteless "holiday apartment" style. Plus, the interior corridors feel oddly institutional. Also, the coffee at breakfast was scorched filter coffee in pots ona burner - not very Italian!
The location was perfect. It was convenient to the train station and other attractions in the area. The staff was also very helpful. The room decor was dated and basic.
Location was excellent. Very basic, old fashioned hotel. Stuck in the 70's decor. We were charged £4 for ice and an ice bucket. Very poor value for money, would not recommend it.
Having a junior suite at good price. No kettle + tea bags+ coffee in the room
My worst experience in 16 years visitiing italy Over priced for a 4 star hotel, it should be a 3 star ratred, one of the noisest hotels that I have stayed in
We loved our suite at the Lido Palace Hotel. It was roomy and the view was so beautiful. The included breakfast buffet was wonderful and the staff were very accomodating and friendly.
I twas so convenient with beautiful views. The staff was wonderful and very informative. No
We are a family of 3, and there was ample room in our 2 room suite for all of us, with my husband and me in a bedroom, and our 16 year old son on a very comfortable pull-out couch in the living room. The view was fantastic - we looked out over the sea and the beautiful surrounding scenery. The hotel was conveniently located and the staff was helpful and very pleasant to work with. Nothing.
We both found the staff extremely helpful and very considerate. everything we asked to be done was carried-out with aplomb. The double-glazing and double door to the hall-way were good for sound insulation but a ventilator in the inner wall allowed all the hall noise to filtrate into the room each morning.
That we received complimentary drinks on arrival and were upgraded to a room with a sea view. The breakfast was also pretty good They allow dogs in the room and our bathroom smelt like a wet dog. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have wanted. The hotel seemed dated. There was no gym to use. I believe that the price was over valued
Great clasical style hotel which was recently remodeled. Valet parking. Saltwater pool. Excellent view. Centrally located. There were no niggers present at this hotel. The clientele was exclusively human. They charge €20 for the valet parking, but do not inform you of it ahead of time. The breakfast was only average.
i like the friendly staff, the free use of computer terminal, the dinning room, the location (except a bit noisy at night), and the view. The noise from cars at night, the distance to the train station, and lack of a large lounge for sitting around. it will be ideal to have a free shuttle to the train station on request and advance booking.
Very efficient friendly staff and excellent breakfast with great view over the bay. shower leaks all over floor in bath room due to curtain over bath. Bad design. common fault but was damaging bathroom door and woodwork. small point , pity.
The location and the beach are by far the best in Santa Margherita. The facilities are gorgeous and the views are heaven. The rooms are pretty old and basic. The bed was also very uncomfortable.
The bed was great, the view of the garden incredible, the staff friendly and helpful and location is incredible. No
As a solo traveller I felt very comfortable here. The staff were professional, helpful and friendly and I hope to return one day. Altogether a very relaxing experience. I have no complaints. Everything was done to make my stay very enjoyable.
lovely old style hotel with great outlook and (from sea view room) nice view and balcony, good breakfast, staff very efficient.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Lovely sea-view room. Staff highly knowledgeable and friendly.
The sea view only! The hotel was not 4 stars at all it messes many things very poor and old hotel no air conditioning in the lobby..Very poor restaurant breakfeast..
Convenient clean hotel good location plenty of scuba diving activity A bit outdated and not very charming
Swimming pool and breakfast area were very good indeed what was described as a garden view was in fact a dustbin view but did not detract from our stay. Bathroom was very dated and needed upgrading
Please write at least 15 words. The pool, the rooms, the staff, the location. The very small showers. Lack of tourist information for things to do.
There is a heated salt water pool which is a bonus since the sea in Santa Margheritia is not veryinviting. The set dinner is good value for money and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is badly in need of renovation and the room are very basic. The breakfast is very unimaginitive - even for Italy!
The desk staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The views from the roo were spectacular. The food in the restaurant was the worst I ate in Italy. The rooms need updating.
Nice location Its misleading that one must pay more money for housekeeping to come and clean the room..I Have never heard of this before. Was not happy that parking was not included in the price of the hotel also
Only the view from the balcony (6th floor). The bay view of Santa Margherita Ligure was breathtaking. The rooms and furniture are very old. The bathrooms have been designed for dwarves (very small). Two elevators large like a postage stamp. This hotel is not worth to carry 4 stars.
good location and hotel with pool nearby the beach Very old hotel with minimum confort (the wooden floor was broken in bedrooms and very dangerous : does not value 4 stars hotel at all (a 2 stars would be enough !!!)
Beautiful location, stunning views, private beach. The restaurant by the beach was very good. Room was tiny. Service patchy (especially at breakfast). Not great value for money overall - didn't feel special enough to justify the room rate.
The view at the sea, the servis of bar. The english language of the staff (few personnes speaked english)
The whole stay was made pleasant by friendly staff working in a wonderful setting serving quality all the way.
Location and views, amazing! Recommend eating in.
Location, pool, reasonable size room. No
Attentive staff. Fantastic location and views of the view and town There is one road sign that sends you the wrong way. Its a little expensive
Everything was good. restaurants on the high italian level
Spectacular location, friendly staff, breakfast room with sea view, reasonable prices in bar, Hermes shampoo ;-) some details hair dryer, some furniture is a little outdated but the location and service make up for this.
Location gr8. Little things like service numbers on phone to call wd b better. Got accused by ohotel kulm that we didn't cxl booking and asked to pay. V rude reception lady!! This was cxld thru booking.com b4 leaving 4 trip and rebooked cen de d, so bkng.com didn't communicate to hotel of cxl and rebooking. Not professional. Also was booked in2 room overlooking carpark which I specifically asked booking.com not do. Hotel accommodated thankfully so booking.com needs 2 communicate w hotel more!!!!
Beautifull location, very well presented room. Staff very knowledgable and most helpful. The promenade at Camogli has some excellent cafes and restaurants. No
staff, location to super village was very good too, especially if you want to work those calf muscles! no internet facilities in rooms, also tv control was faulty, room was fairly compact, 47 stairs to room.
The building was unusual and the entrance hall enormous. The staff were pleasant and the view from the roof top solarium splendid. The room was o.k. and the bathroom adequate, but large clean white towels and good hot water. The access to the hotel was horrendous, on a corner of a main road. Getting up the driveway at night was hazardous and the parking very limited.
lokalisation of the hotel brakfast, kaffe
It's a great hotel for the money! clean, nice rooms with shouwer and toilet. The location is central! The hotel is hard to find, as is everythin in Venice!
Nice location The railways path is a real pain, Train are passing with a frequency of 20 mins, and keep going u to late at night and strat early in the morning
It is quiet, the staff are friendly, it is a lovely building and the views are great. Breakfast is dull, the coffee is not too good.
Very impressive building, nice clean rooms, great breakfast, nice wiev Parking somewhat difficult understandably
I was very impressed by hotel appearance from outside. Real small castle, with very green territory, lots of flowers around, very beautiful and romantic. Inside its not a luxury hotel, but very cosy and nicely decorated. Staff was good, room always clean, breakfast nice as well. View from the roof of the building is stunning, u can see all Santa Margarita underneath you. Location is good as well, uphill, but that what gives you this great view. 7 min walking to the sea. I absolutely loved this hotel.
This hotel is somewhat like an old castle perched on a hill overlooking Sta Margherita town and the sea. We chose this hotel because it really looked nice, had parking and was of great value. We really liked our stay here and found the hotel's decor and ambiance quite fitting. We had a nice corner room with a beautiful sea view and a spacious bathroom (room 26). It is very convenient for people with cars as there is parking (parking is quite an experience as you have to manage a steep zigzag driveway, if you have trouble, someone will assist you). It is a 10 minute walk downhill to town. Breakfast was pleasant.
We arrived by train and were advised to take a taxi as the hotel is on a hill. It is and quite a steep one. Very friendly staff to greet us. Beautiful decor and our room was perfect. Large room, big comfortable bed, large modern bathroom, a wonderful view of town and sea, clean, clean, clean. The breakfast included was very good with lots to choose from. This was our last stay before returning home and we could not have asked for better. It is on a hill and is a bit of a walk from town. Only about 5-10 minutes from the centre of Santa Margarita and for us not a problem but for someone with mobility issues it could be. Parking seemed to be an issue for the parking area was small(we were not driving so were not affected) however the staff was very accomplished at organizing the cars.
Lovely family owned and operated Inn. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Room was comfortable and efficient use of space. Nice location, easy to the waterfront. Food in the restaurant is first class.
very nice small hotel, very warm and profesionnal staff.Clean, comfortable and design rooms.
the staff was especially helpful and concerned and helped solve a difficult problem
The service was excellent.
Wonderful friendly staff in a superb italian city near Porto Fino and the Cinque Terra, this is the place to stay for a great vacation destination.
The central location of the hotel only a few minutes walk from the town center, the rooms were modern and clean and the staff very obliging with any information that would help us during our stay. The breakfast had a great selection and was excellent. We will stay again at this hotel on our next trip to Italy.
frendly people brekfast
Very nice (small) hotel with nice service. Located in sidestreet in center of St. Margarita. Location is good but rather difficult to find (the first time). Located in same street as Tourist Information.
Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Rooms were very clean and the bathroom was amazing!
The location is excellent as it is situated right on a small beach between Santa Margherita and Portofino. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to a schedule but was happy to run us into either place when we wanted. There was also a bus that stops outside the door. It has been recently renovated and is ultra modern and very chic. The bathrooms are spacious and beds comfortable.with beautiful linen and towels. The restaurant is located on the beach front with doors that open to enjoy the view. The restaurant during the evening was too formal and very expensive. The breakfast was a little disappointing with a very limited choice for the continental breakfast, everything else was an expensive extra. The sea view is probably not worth booking as the windows facing the sea are high and do not provide a good view.
Own Beach and nice restaurant Hotel rooms are not worth of money
Cleanliness was perfect Bathroom was out of human dimensions. It was not possible to have a shower because it was too small.
The hotel renovation has been completed to an excellent standard and the building and rooms look beautiful. Although aesthetically pleasing the room size was incredibly small with not enough adequate storage space. There is no bath tub and no safe for personal belongings. Even as guests of the hotel you have to pay €25 per person per day to use the hotel's private beach.
Hotel felt like a family home. Service was excellent for the room and the restaurant exquisite. Very modern facilities and within walking distance to beautiful Santa Margherita downtown area. None!
room was large and comfortable; larger than I would expect for the price; breakfast was as good as a four star hotel. shower/tub and bathroom floor slippery when wet.
The price was good. The night check in staff was quite surly and the room/bathroom was quite small and made smaller by too much furniture. Elevator was tiny (fit one person and one bag), but luckily we were only on the second floor.
We were given a superior room which was a good size and very nicely decorated though the whole hotel is newly decorated and very pleasant
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and conversant with English. Bathroom was a pleasant surprise compared to other European hotels in this price range. Breakfast was a quite adequate buffet. The hotel is very centrally located to shops, waterfront and access to ferries and train station. Had a very nice public lounge for relaxing in.
This hotel is in a great location in Santa Margherita, near the train station. Great morning buffet included. Staff was so nice to us. the street noise on the front street was disturbing. Ask for a room in the back.
the lobby was very comfortable. The free use of bicycles was a nice bonus. good location very close to train station Bedrooms very small and poor selection for breakfast
convenient location, 3 minutes from the action. Friendly, extremely helpful staff, Rooms rather old-fashoined, but comfortable and very clean. Just the traffic noise, but OK if not on the front. Some free car parking, staff will park and once in, your car stays there until you leave...but other carparking in SML very limited.
The Hotel was easy to find 5 mins walk from station and beach also very close to very good restuarants, bars. I think the rooms need a revamp ie carpets.
Friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Good breakfast buffet included. Great site near the centre of town. Particularly enjoyed the use of bicycles provided by the hotel at no extra charge. Rooms are small; however, this wasn't a major problem as we used hotel simply to sleep, shower and change.
Everyone was very helpful. Parking was no problem. Close to the train station for the ride to Cinque Terre.
We loved the view and town of Rapallo. Expected less as the surrounding area is very well revered. Rapallo, however, is within one hour or less of all the important areas on the Ligurian coast.
Very nice hotel. The coffee was the best served during our 10 days traveling Italy.
Very good location in centre of town - nice rooms - good view. Raphello is a beautiful place. Service was fine.
great service, gave good recommendations for dining and touring, great location
Very good location and very good cleanliness of our room. Spacious room recently renovated wooden floor. espresso and cappuccino were no very good something happened to espresso coffee machine
Perfect location, comfortable rooms, helpfull staff, reasonable price (with seasonal discount). Once we asked for the possible extension of our stay we got a free upgrade to Superior Double Room. Staff was wery helpfool with planning of our trips to Portofino and beatyfull Cinque Terra villages
location standard of the hotel
Excellent hotel - Elizabetha at front desk very friendly. great English - really great location, across the street from the sea, shopping right there outside the door. Plenty of restuarants within 5 minute walk. Parking across the street is 10 Euro for over-night, but very accessible. Be warned that the parking lot is used for market day on Thursdays and you are not allowed to park in that lot on Thursdays - don't know where you would park that day - maybe a daytrip added to your shedule so you don't have to deal with that. We only stayed one night - but wish we had stayed 3 days - it was a really great place.
The location was very good, being located on the shoreline and close to the market area . The staff were extremely helpful knowledgable and friendly and spoke English very well. The breakfast buffet was very large and full of fresh products. Our room was a good size and quiet.
It was a excellent value for the price but certainly not among the better appointed hotels we stayed in during our trip. The location right on the road was dramatic and the access to a beach an unusual plus for Portofino. The staff was helpful but probably not that experienced in the hospitality business. It has tiny almost ship-like bathrooms. The front door is literally on the street which is narrow and treacherous and the parking is cramped and dangerous but space in this little hamlet is limited. The staff, although helpful, seemed inexperienced in the ways of the hospitality business and the bell man (if that is what he was) smelled heavily of alcohol. Breakfast was primitive and not very good (we decided to eat in town after tasting the acrid juice). This hotel probably needs more professional leadership and a facelift, but it was certainly relatively inexpensive.
We were upgraded to a room with a view over the water - it was fantastic. When we checked in they kept our passports whilst we were shown to our room, I would have preferred to be given our passports back straight away.
Excellent location, although older style the rooms were large and comfortable - ours had a great balcony, lovely swimming beach, friendly staff - perfect for families or couples.
great location and beautiful scenery. the only complaint we had is we were in room 204 and we could hear the sound of water pumps kicking in and out all night. the staff offered to move us but we had already settled in for the night. otherwise would highly recomend it see above
Very nice room and facility, with additional grounds in small cove area. Great setting and simple walk to Portofino harbor. Staff was quite competent and efficient, but seemed personally aloof.
Our small dog was welcome and we got a room with a balcony. Modern and very spacious rooms. Old hotel nicely renovated. Wonderful location. 10min walk along car-less small pedestrian walk to Port of Portofino. -
staff was very accomodating , helpfull and plesant. excellent location and we like the beach too. the pathway to portofino was a great advantage. the rooms were little dated , could do with a makeover.
Location; view; staff was very helpful and professional. It was a bit noisy, but it was located right on a roadway so it was to be expected. It could have had darker shades because it was very bright in the a.m. The place was a little tired and rundown.
The room was a good size for an Italian hotel, and the terrace overlooking the bay was ideal. The breakfast needs to be improved. Packaged cookies / muffins and no fresh juice are sub-standard for a 4 star hotel. If the breakfast were to be improved I would have only great things to say about Piccolo.
This was an excellent hotel with excellent staff. We were met at the car park and nothing was too much touble. The breakfasts were very good and the room was also first class with a wonderful view. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and location.
all OK all OK
Well situated short walk from city center and sea, free parking and baby bed.
Great location, and the fact it is a very old hotel that has been brought up to modern standards while still maintaining the old charm.
personel was veery well prepared for guests. I just want to heat up food for our son and when lift stoped on 0 porter have seen me with bottles. he ask somebody, no question to me before, to come and help me. thew manager, probably, ran to me, took all my things and ask: how long in oven? I said 30 sec. he said I am back in 50 sec. excelent. thanks. poor breakfast without any idea, unfortunately.
I liked everything about this Hotel. It is elegant, friendly, perfectly situated, lovely staff, lovely tranquil garden and a superb restaurant , Il Trattato, which serves imaginative food of a very high standard ( obviously a talented chef is at work here ! ). The wine list is a most comprehensive selection of Italian wines from all over Italy - big and small names - and was a joy to peruse. On leaving I said to the receptionist that all that was needed was a swimming pool ( an unusual asset in hotels in this area which are beside the sea and in the town ), wherewith she took out a booklet detailing that a swimming pool would be built this winter in the lovely garden. I shall return next summer to see and enjoy it and meet my friends there
