Breakfast.Within 15 minute walk to access train station. Out of the way. 20 minute walk to Espino. Since the hotel Spa and Wellness centre has been upgraded hotel no longer does complimentary mini bus to Espino.
The large outdoor swimming pool was fantastic, great location right on the beach and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Most of the guests were old people... The breakfast's quality was very poor. Rooms were ok but a bit old fashion. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is separated from the city, and has a railway right between the hotel and the beach (there is a tunnel to cross). The beach was very empty and we had red flag the 4 days of our stay (very drafty water) so you were not allowed to get into the water. The swimming-pool has sea (salty) water.
a quiet and relaxing place. not all places welcome active and noisy 2-year olds, but we did feel welcomed. n/a
This hotel is an EXCELLENT choice for those who want to be near, but somewhat removed, from a big city. The food was the best we had in Portugal - especially the grilled sea bass! Hotel staff and all the amenities exceeded our expectations. HIGHLY recommend Hotel Solverde Spa & Wellness Center.
Peace and quite Air-conditiong was a bit loud
Lovely big rooms, clean, nice views Balcony a little small in comparison to the room size.
The hotel was ok, nice swimming pool with beautiful landscaping, I liked the free Wi-Fi service in the rooms, with reasonable speed, very close to sea and to some shops around. The furniture and hotel style is very old, it needs to be completely renewed, there is no beach on the sea, the breakfast was poor, only some cheese and ham with very limited selections, not like any 5 stars hotel I stayed in, I think it is very expensive for what it is.
the spa was fantastic....indoor and outdoor pool the breakfast menu was a bit sneaky...get impression breakfast in room was 5 euro....charged 25 euro ....need to read menu carefully
The hotel was very children friendly, we had a great sea food buffet and the staff was very nice. You have to have a car if you want to go somewhere else, no restaurants or other entertainment in walking distance. The hotel offers shuttles to Espinho and Porto.
The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. Lifts were quiet and smooth and appeared quite quickly. It was good value for money in summer. The bedroom was cold and there was not a chair to sit in to read or watch television. No drawers and no list of hotel facilities eg time of breakfast and use of telephone, in the room. The lounge and dining areas were dark and dreary.
Friendly staff and clean room, I have no complaint what so ever... Close access to expressway... Would stay again. As with many hotels, I wish I had a photocopied route map at the counter to help with arrivals and departures to and from the hotel. Residential roads and rotaries could confuse.
convenience to motorway. Helpfull staff. Very comfortable beds, most important
As we had a hired car we found it easy to reach from the airport and it was important that it had free parking on site. It was also not far to walk to the bus stop where there were frequent and cheap buses to central Porto. Although near motorway it was very quiet due to good double glazing
nice and clean room, quiet public transport connection is weak
We thought the hotel was very clean, extremely good value for money and the staff very helpful. We would definitely stay again as well as recommend it.
room no restaurant in hotel, close to traffic
It's a good, not expensive hotel, where you're able to relax without outside noises even being next to major street. It has great accesses. Just the bathroom could be a little bit larger.
The Park Hotel is comfortable, clean and quiet despite being located on the a1 (double glazed windows). Free parking. Staff speak fluent english and are available to assist 24 hours a day. Close to Porto (5 minute taxi = 5eur) Room was a little hot and our control in room made no difference
Nice breakfast, with a great variety of fresh products. The location, because you are outside Oporto but in fact you just need to cross Arrabida bridge to get in the city. The facilities for young children.
good accesses by car and near for the summer festival "Marés Vivas". very clean, great staff and large double room. great! bed size: for a double room should be a littler larger.
Great position, excellent value for money!
How helpful the staff was especially the desk lady Ana who we met our first day at the hotel. Also we had a great room on the 4th floor overlooking the sea and beautiful sunsets!
Friendly base for exploring Porto Rooms could be bigger or a balcony would have been a big improvement
As previously stated the location of the hotel, at the top of a hill was not what we expected and appeared much further to the centre of Gaia than was stated. Walking back up the hill was a daunting task, even for able bodied visitors.
Nice view through window, pool.
Good location, nice rooms, good facilities
swimming pool and terrace
Good size room, lovely garden and pool, nice restaurant
The hotel is very new, very clean and the rooms are comfortable and well designed. i would stay again. No.
Nice room and bathroom - Helpful staff - Exelent restaurant - NO
hot water turned down between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
service and the room The indoor pool wasn't finished
Courteous staff, well designed room, well serviced Breakfast spread quite good but hot food option limited
Hotel room was very good value for money. Dinner in the restaurant wasn't of the same standard unfortunately.
our stay was a comfortable one. The breakfast was limited and the bacon and egg was always cold. If you came down for breakfast after 8.00am it is not guranteed that you will get bacon and eggs. Often this is requested but slow to arrive. Communication was also a barrier as most of the kitchen staff did not speak English and the guest had great difficulties expressing their neds.
Great hotel, new and clean, decent breakfast, free wi-fi, about 10km from the Europarque.
Parking is for free. Old fashion hotel.Lights at the room are sensibly poor, but.... tropical climate, not to say Sahara climate is for sure in the room, no way to cool down.
Excellent rooms and very friendly staff. I travel a lot and this is probably the best hotel in Europe that I have stayed in.
IT is a nice hotel with good rooms and kind staff
Friendliness of staff and cleanliness of room.
food was good car park too small
Very nice food in the Grill restaurant, Grill chef speak perfect English.
Convenient for beach and town Looking a little dated compared with when we last stayed there 36 years ago
Private parking close to entrance. Excellent service by the porter. Close to the beach and Casino. Good offer as to breakfast. Room view not very interesting!Maybe view as per price.
Break fast was very varied and catered for everyones taste. We were up graded to a sea front room it was very good for the money. The mini bar did not have a very good choice if you chose to stay in your room.
Position No outdoor pool and poor lighting in the rooms
The hotel has a good location and it is easy to go from this place to visit Porto. The location is excellent, directly at the beach at the Atlantic ocean. Breakfast buffet is good. The hotel really needs some renovation, everything looks a little too heavy used. Carpets look dirty.
Loved the 70s decor, beautifully maintained (or restored?). It's a real period piece. The staff on check in were very friendly though not so much so the next day. Not enough pillows on the bed to comfortably sit up!
Staff were excellent and very helpful
The staff was excellent and helpfull. Prime location on the city center and beach front. Many restaurants and shops nearby. The room was very dusty and the air conditioner over-dried the air. Bad insulating windows caused too much cold air in the room.
received upgrade without asking, very good buffet breakfast, very central situation. nothing
Excellent location infront of the beach, very good facilities for swimming and sauna. The personnel was very polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast is perfect, several fruits and local bread. Too many rules in the swimming pool
A friendly and helpful staff. The room were really clean. breakfast not included € 7.00 each person
We have stayed at this hotel before. The staff are very helpful and courteous. The location is excellent as it is right opposite the beach.
My wife and I were welcomed very eefficiently by the English speaking staff and our room was comfortable and well serviced. The location was very close to the beach but we were disappointed that the sea view requested was seen only from a balcony.obliquely. The lighting was very dim and inadequate for reading.
The appartment was nice and big with a good view on the ocean. It was very close to the beach. Every evening there was a concert next to our hotel which was very noisy. Luckily it always stopped at midnight, The elevators were very slow.
Staff,Accomodations,Beach. I extended my stay from 3 days to 10.When I checked in early on 26jul09, I had driven from Guarda after having a medical procedure done the day before and was very uncomfortable. The two ladies who checked me in were absolutely delightful, picked up my spirits right a way. They were also very knowledgable about the area for many miles around. The accomadations were much more than I expected It was a fully stocked, large apartment, not a studio as advertized.A Very pleasant surprise.Housekeeping noticed that the door to the balcony did not open properly and staff was up the following day fixing it, I had not mentioned it to anyone. The beach is superb. It was perfect for what I needed
Many things right in this hotel. Excellent reception staff, courteous helpful and knowledgeable. Spacious apartment. Excellent for beach and rail travel. Reliable housekeeping each day. Additional cost for seaview was very worthwhile -would not have wanted any other aspect. Lots of storage space and large reception hall to apartment, which we used as our child's bedroom rather than using the living room in this one bedroomed apartment. Nice new smeg fridge in our apartment. Settled into a relaxed routine very easily. Rooms tired to my view and give a 70s feel from colours to carpets and tiles; other than that fine. Rooms missing a radio, which is not that costly to provide. An iron in the room would have been nice, but they were available through housekeeping. No sense of catering for those that like traditional tea! Used jug as the pot and kettle needed to be a cooking jug for the electric stove.
We like the kindness of all hotel staff and closeness of beach, restaurants ,shops and train station. We like that the entry in hotel was able to all 24 hour.
Very helpful staff and apartment very clean with fresh towels every day. There was no hairdryer in the apartment. It had to be borrowed from reception - if available.
The view is amazing, the apartment is really spacious. Loved staying here, it is a lot better than the reviews led me to believe. Firm beds, but this is a portugal thing I think.
Great location, five minutes from the station, and one minute from the beach. Espinho is about 30 mins from Porto and 2hrs30 from Lisbon (direct). We were travelling with two small children (8 months and 2yrs) so the apartment was ideal - good size kitchen with Smeg appliances, although a microwave would have been handy for sterilising baby bottles. There's a casino next door and a night club somewhere in or near the hotel but we couldn't hear anything from the 12th floor. We were there for the last three days of the Festa de Espinho with concerts and fireworks directly outside the hotel, from our balcony we had the best views in town! Good location and facilities make this an ideal place to stay for families with young children. A small table and chairs on the balcony would have been nice but not really a negative.
It's a block away from the tram that takes you into town - great location. The ir own internet terminals are free and very fast. The WiFi is useless. Really really slow.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was cool and comfortable. Credit card machine didn't work at checkout and had to pay cash. Shower head would only point straight down.
Good location and a great room. The bathroom looked old compared to the room that was very modern.
excellent price for a 4 stars hotel. Kind and helpful staff, speaking every language. Lovely and comfortable room. Beautiful view of the city and river
Ambience and comfort of hotel Location is wholly unsuitable without a car. It is not possible either to walk across the bridge or get down to the riverbank without crossing a six lane motorway and its approach roads. No metro. Local bus stop not currently in use either.
Our room overlooked a busy road but we did not experience any noise from inside or outside the hotel. Very peaceful and relaxing environment.
staff were friendlyand helpfuland location was good. However would be godd if they had family rooms
Mecure Porto Gaia was one of the best location that we have stayed in. Close to the quay and the Porto action. Very accomodating staff. Limited use of fridge space because of hotel items not being able to be removed.
Very accomodating staff. Good location between city centre and beaches. Hotel is not clearly signposted when coming via the motorway.
Accommodation was good and clean, good facilities at the hotel and convenient for the adjacent shopping centre, restaurants and Porto centre
Good room space, interesting decoration of de hotel . nothing
rooms at the privilege floor are excellent
liked the staff did not like the expensive breakfast, but it was good, just too eexpensive
Very big room. Good views. Excellent decor. Very smart hotel. Parking extra and signs not clear when I got there (signs changed later made it clearer). Breakfast extra. Failry long walk to the historic centre and all up hill on the way back!
Excellent service Rooms could i little more stylish
very nice staff, very reasonable price no free wifi. actually it is very expensive to use wifi. but there are free computer terminals.
Friendly staff, great city view heating wasn't working
We got upgraded to a duplex suite
extremely helpful reception staff - best encountered..Junior suite very roomy...great location if you have transport ..great design
The rooms are huge! The suite looks like a flat. The views over the city of Porto/ocean/river and surroundings are breathtaking. The spa is good, special when you are alone with your love one. The romantic program included dinner at candle light in room. Recommended, the food where delicious. Congratulations to the chef. When arrived, they put us in a normal room when we reserve the special romantic program. After 20 min or so they call us to apologise and switch us to the suite. After that they phone us three times to apologise :-) Very friendly in spite of the mistake.
I stayed in a junior suite which was really spacious and comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. The staff was really helpfull and spoke perfect English. Breakfasts were excellent and so was meals in the other restaurants. Quite it a bit away from the main historic attractions in Porto: one could not just quickly slip out for a stroll/visit somewhere. Also quite a distance to the restaurants on the river front.
The view of the sea from the bedroom balcony and the breakfast room was wonderful. Our hotel room was large, attractive and had very comfortable beds. For a four star hotel the breakfast was no more than adequate. The buffet was kept well stocked but lacked imagination. The worst feature of the buffet was the lack of heat under what should have been hot food.
The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was spotlessly clean everyday. I really enjoyed the breakfast. Fantastic location to the beautiful beach. Liked the swimming pool and jacquzi. The staff in the spa were miserable and rude at times!
Clean, friendly, sea view, Distance to beach and steep incline from hotel
Excellent location on beach, right near bus stop, with bus access to city centre, mall, and metro. Staff were friendly. Room was large with nice view.
Staff was nice Where to begin... the place is old and run down, not clean. Room was musty smelling. Room 201 is next to elevator and noisy. Street traffic is noisy. No way is this 4 star, more like 2 star.
the staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful at all times. no
the room was next to the lift, which was very nosy
the sea views they call it the golf hotel but the nearest course I could get a game over the weekend was 50km away. I would not have stayed in this hotel had I not been misled by the name
The sopt is really nice and meals service is really good. The bell boy was very educate and help full and so the lady who whas working on Friday and Monday at the recepetion during the day Overall staff trainning is very poor, I had the feeling that as the wedding I was going to it was in there they knew we had no option despite the hotel got crowded of international guests who were going to the same wedding party in the hotel that I did. We rented some scooters on Saturday morning and they told us will be ready at 09h30 and they were not until 11h00. The locking door system of my room didn't work properly from Friday til Sunday afternoon and the reception people never wanted to come and check as they thought I was not capable to use a magnetic card until I shouted like hell and they came with me and they realized that the system was not working properly due to low battery..
Location. Balcony with sea side view. Very good restaurant near - A Margem. Very soft beds.
