All staff besides the owner. I have, thankfully, never worked with an owner that is like that. And yes, you should take that personal and give your staff a big summer bonus this year, they've earned it.
Check in took some time, mainly I think because the owner was yapping on his mobile behind the reception desk while the receptionist tried to check me in. I reserved with a cc, but payed with a debitcard, this caused some confusion, after which the receptionist checked with her boss, still on his mobile, who then briefly turned to me and said; show me your card. Excuse me? If you wish to speak to me, then take the time to adress me in a normal way. Anyway, I also decided to upgrade myself from a bunkbed to a single room, available from 35 euro. I got a suite for 55, no offer of the cheaper normal rooms. Also the suites were on offer for 50 euro on booking.com even after I checked in. Now I do work in hospitality myself, but rather for a more pricy type of hotel then this one. And the hotels I worked at have suites, this hotel has not. Offering a slightly bigger room as a suite does not make it a suite. A suite has a minimum of two rooms, besides the bedroom there should be a sittingroom or diningroom or office space. Most notably a suite does not have plastic covers on both the mattresses and the pillows. Yes, you want to protect your brand new hotel, but I also presume you want your guests to sleep without a sweaty butcrack. Btw for my original bunkbed, I informed through booking if I needed my own bedding, never had a reply. Thankfully my Portuguese colleague could call.
Really good hostel, comfortable and clean. The beds are great. The localization is perfect, just in the middle of the city.
Just in the middle of the city, very clean, modern and comfortable. Staff very helpful. The beds are really good.
The staff is really nice and helpful, the localization is perfect, just in the middle of the town, the beds are very comfortable, the breakfast is good, and it’s a very clean, beautiful and modern place
I arrived rather wet and chilled after a day of bike touring in heavy winter rain. It was so great to be able to first have my bike stored in the hostel's secure underground garage before hitting a nice hot shower. Then I got to enjoy a great 4 course meal at the hostel that evening with a lovely German couple who were doing the Camino Portuguese. It was prepared by the very kind and helpful hostel manager and cost just 10€ (including sangria!). As you can guess, I highly recommend staying at N1 whether as a pilgrim or just as a tourist visiting Santarém. Thank you!
