Pros: My daughter and I had an impromptu girls trip, and picked Shutters on a whim. What a great choice it was! Highly recommend!!!

Pros: The location! Right on the beach, and in the middle of everything else in the OBX.

8.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were good but the staff was fantastic! They were the to help anyway they could and were always willing to go the extra step to make our stay great!
7.0 Good
Cons: Couple flies in the room during stay
5.7 Okay
Pros: Location is perfect. Ample parking. They allow pets.
Cons: The staff just didn’t pay attention to guests. Check in process was slow. Property shows signs of wear and tear which is surprising as we went before the season started. Amenities don’t reflect the price we paid. Beds are uncomfortable as if you’re laying on a bunch of sprints. Linens were smelly. Curtains didn’t work. Blackout curtains didn’t close completely. Access door to the beach didn’t work and there was a warning posted on the inside of the door warning people to not lock themselves out.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was exactly what I wanted it to be - reasonably priced and right on the beach. You know when you're booking a Comfort Inn that it's not going to be a luxury experience, but everything was well-kept and staff were very helpful and accommodating.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location. Breach view. Friendly Staff. Decent Breakfast.
Cons: Many problems with the room. Tub drained poorly. TV didn't work. Went to a new room. AC unit broke. They couldn't fix it. Maid service was substandard. Limited ice machines.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location was near the ocean. I liked the location and the small shaded table on the deck.
Cons: Two elevators to get to my room. When I chose to take the stairwell it smelt of urine, dampness and mold. No exhaust fan in the bathrooms. Outside balcony constantly stayed wet from something dripping from above. Lack of parking on comedy night- would have thought since I was staying and paying for my room that guests coming to see a comedy show would have to park across the street. Staff moped every day in front of the lobby and the cleaning solvent didn't smell good at all. Front staff was very nice. Also getting luggage carts into two elevators that almost appeared to be too small very irritating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: Strange elevator layout; moderate inconvenience but nothing terrible.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We've stayed nearly everywhere on the beach (I grew up on the obx and we come often to visit family). This is one of the cleanest hotels on the beach, and certainly the friendliest staff. It's got its short comings like everywhere else, but it's over all, a great hotel for the (off season/shoulder) price.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: No one at front desk for 20 minutes and they didn't answer their phone. Room stunk like a wet dog. Front desk person named Mardi was unprofessional and gruff.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Affordable price; staff were friendly and kind; rooms had cable TV, microwave, and a fridge; shower gel and soap were in a safe dispenser; walls are thick so one doesn't ever hear the neighbors; parking spot right in front of the room; keypad entry means not having to deal with cards or keys; beachfront is very close; we were able to make it work with two young babies
Cons: Shower water immediately hits the bathroom floor if you don't close the curtain; we saw a spider walking around the bathroom; space is tiny; air conditioner is unpredictable—it either blows too hard or doesn't blow at all

6.0 Good
Cons: Did not like that I was not able to do a courtesy late checkout.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: 3 trips to the front desk. 2 different remotes. Got moved to another room where the TV got 3 channels. I drove 7 hours before I checked in. check in and moving added another hour to a long day.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival, we were upgraded to an oceanview room since it was offseason. We very much enjoyed that! The beds were very plush and enjoyable. There was a close beach access right across the street that we took advantage of too! The TV access in the room was perfect! The pillows available were in varying degrees of plush, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, it was a very quiet stay with friendly staff.
Cons: There were several mysterious stains around the room- resembling blood? We avoided them. The layout of the room was unusual, with the toilet and bath/shower in one room and the sink and light switches outside the bathroom. That took some getting used to! The fleece blankets on both beds had foreign hairs and stains on them so we ended up taking them off of the beds and just sleeping with the sheets and comforters. I tried to take a bath but the tub plug was broken, which was disappointing because I wanted to take a bath as I was sick one night on our stay. The breakfast was of any standard continental breakfast- the waffles were delicious and the milk was ice cold but it worried me that the yogurt was only in an ice bucket and burned when you ate it, and the breakfast sandwiches were just sitting out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great price and great location!! Really clean rooms and free breakfast!!
Cons: N/A
4.0 Okay
Pros: Close proximity to wright bros memorial.
Cons: The allowance of smokers on a floor where my non smoking room was. Hallway smelled like an ashtray. Breakfast was barely that. For $100/night in the off season i expected more. I will stay somewhere else next time.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The location is great to enjoy the banks. I was able to drive to all my favorite places easily. The nice staff made my stay comfortable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Hotel was clean and renovations (ongoing) are really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our spacious hotel room and playing with Sabrina every day.
Cons: We liked everything.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, hot tub and pool are real nice, staff is outstanding and the rooms are nice!
5.4 Okay
Pros: I liked the ice machine with good proximity to the room. For the most part, the staff were nice. The balcony was a nice touch.
Cons: Let's start with the bird that almost ate my girlfriend's finger. I have pictures. It isn't pretty. Apparently, this bird belongs to the owner (!) and, to be honest, it almost died that day. I almost killed the bird, despite being an active vegan and animal rights supporter. That is how enraged I was. The staff took two minutes to find a spray bottle to de-couple this bird from her hand. The bird, we can only guess, was mad at my girlfriend for allowing the bird to rest on her arm, but she wasn't actively petting the bird. After the incident, the staff snickered and thought it WAS FUNNY. When we asked for some hydrogen peroxide, they responded "we are out". They did provide us with alcohol wipes. This is unacceptable. One could go off about random yellow stains - topical, actual, mustard-like stains on the ceiling of the room, (also have pictures), or the staff scrubbing our appointment before we arrived (via Kayak, NOT Expedia), or the lack of HBO, but I'm gonna stay on the bird-thing. Absolutely not cool. Not only will I never go to any Ramada Inn again, but I am going to make sure everyone I know traveling through the OBX knows about their lobby-piece "Sabrina the biting bird". The fact that staff reacted as if it was "just another biting" and even upon checkout we got the "jeez, so sorry" in that "please go away" tone makes us feel like they get PLEASURE from watching people get injured from this bird. Yelp is my next stop. Take this place off your list of where to stay.
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: Visited for the weekend and woke up Saturday morning to no hot water- apparently the hotel is not well equipped enough to handle multiple guests showering at once. The heat in our room wasn't functioning properly- and all around awful experience.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Location Cleanliness Comfort of bed
4.5 Okay
Pros: Staff were quick to fix problems
Cons: Outdated hotel cost too much for off season
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Ocean-front/ Beach Good location Jacuzzi/ Heating pool Free internet
Cons: First and second floor are not ocean-view, there is small hill in front of the hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was close to everything we had planned for our trip, while we did not have time to enjoy all of their ammenities as our schedule was pretty tight.
Cons: My only complaint was the poor condition of the mattresses. Both beds in our room had the most worn out mattress which provided for a terrible nights sleep. They need to be replaced months ago.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The easy access to the beach.
Cons: Hotel was not clean and I found over priced which I understand the amount I paid for was basically bc it was on the beach. The common areas were very nice, however the rooms could use some updating. We had to move rooms our first night due to water leaking in the bathroom. We were on 2 nd floor and water leaking from ceiling in the bathroom was commode water from the above floors. Customer service was great. We were moved into another room and received a discount. However the second room we located to, the bathroom walls had hair on the walls which I knew was not ours being we hadn't even used the shower yet. The bathroom could use some updating and could be cleaner. For the price paid, sadly I won't be staying here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very welcoming! The rooms were very clean! And the bed was very comfortable!
Cons: Couldn't open the window to be able to listen to the waves crash along the beach while I slept.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, great location right on the beach, friendly staff
Cons: Would be nice to have a continental breakfast like the Comfort Inn next door. They have their own restaurant inside the hotel but it is a bit pricey for breakfast.

Pros: I loved the price and location. I needed a place to stay for the Outer Banks Marathon and this was right in the middle of the start and finish line.
Cons: There is no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor (top floor) so make sure to pack accordingly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Gooey chocolate chip cookies greeted us in the lobby when we checked in. The room was clean and well lit. Excellent proximity to Kittyhawk, which we were there to visit. Breakfast was simple, but toaster waffles did the trick for me. The pool looked inviting, but it was too early in the season to be open. I'd come again, if I were in the area,
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location and proxikity to the beach and restaurants.
6.2 Good
Pros: Very lose to the beach but what isn't in that area. One person at the desk but she was very helpful and nice. No elevator so keep that in mind but also only 3 stories. If you need a place to sleep near some civilization then this will do it and then some. Will give you what you need for each visit.
Cons: I felt like the price was high for what you get.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly (besides one person) the hotel is within walking distance of the beach and stores! The hotel was clean an very well taken care of. Great place!!!

Pros: Upon check in, I was upgraded to a small suite just a few steps from the oceanfront! The staff and the suite were exemplary for what I was seeking, peace and quiet! I have stayed here on many occasions and even without the upgrade, this remains my favorite spot to unwind!
8.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice view of the dunes and ocean from upper deck backside. Service at front desk was friendly and proffesional.the room was clean and comfortable.
6.8 Good
Pros: - front desk staff was very friendly and helpful - cleaning staff kept room neat and tidy - room was essentially clean and comfortable for the most part - even though my room was on the roadside there was no appreciable outside noise to interrupt sleep - the breakfast was present for early risers like myself and contained a variety of items including eggs and sausage
Cons: - the room had a very small bathroom with the wash basin actually in the main room - the bathroom door did not close well when there was a bathroom mat on the floor - there was an overpowering odor most probably from using too much cleaning solution the first night's stay - there was no listing of the TV stations - no dirty laundry bags were supplied - the room was adequate for my one person occupancy but could stand upgrading and expansion to accommodate more than one person even though there were two double beds. -
8.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything except
Cons: Flies
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We travel regularly to obx, wanted a quick weekend get away but was cautious on planning due to weather, booked it on Thursday for Saturday due to our normal hotels not having ocean view available. For the price it wasn't bad at all, pool was nice and clean, rooms were on par for the price, breakfast buffet was regular items but clean and tasteful. Parking was awesome as well.
Cons: Lack of elevators
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is right on the water and the staff was very nice. The free breakfast had a good variety.
Cons: The parking spots are pretty tiny for the most part, and the rooms are older and not very luxurious in appearance. It was a serviceable room though, and the great staff would make me feel alright about staying here again.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was uncomfortable, Kept on waking up throughout the night. The room was fairly clean. Next trip to OBX i will be spending a bit more on sleeping arrangements.
7.7 Good
Pros: Location, include breakfast, beds were better then expected
Cons: Nothing serious

6.0 Good
Pros: The ocean front balcony
Cons: The hot water didn't work and the wi fi. Was worthless anywhere but the lobby. The pool was poorly upkept and for the price you really only paid for location because the hotel was at best a $60 a night place. However the staff was very nice and helpfully.
4.8 Okay
Pros: The proximity to the beach is nice, and the staff was fairly friendly.
Cons: The hotel is fairly run down. There were extension cords running across the floor in the dining area. The toilet in my room was falling off the wall. The doors to the hotel rooms are very hard to open/close. The room looked nothing like what was pictured online. Plus, for the extra $40/night I paid for a pet fee, I could've actually gone and stayed in a nice hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was excellent
Cons: Their breakfast was poor and the beverage dispenser was out of order for juices at breakfast. The air conditioner was broken on the outside of the room and also was not working properly. The bathroom door was rotted and was very hard to close and open.

6.0 Good
Pros: Location was great. Right on the beach and super close to everything. The beach directly in front of the hotel was never crowded.
Cons: The room was always damp and had this weird moldy smell. We ordered an ocean view room. We were placed in the new building with a view of a blue house directly above their pool. You can't see this house in the photo above (that's how incredibly close it is). When sitting on our balcony we were only about 20 feet away from them. It felt like we were just staring at them so we didn't even use the balcony. There was what appeared to be a rotting dead bird in the grass in front of our building the entire week. It was adequate at best, but I think next time I would definitely spend a little more to stay somewhere else.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good and staff friendly
Cons: Most disguistig hotel ever stayed in. Carpets filthy and vomit on door and walls in bathroom. May report to board of health.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location. It's an oceanfront hotel. However not all the rooms are overlooking the beach. Has BBQ/picnic area. Outdoor pool.
Cons: We booked a room with a queen bed & we were given a full size bed in a handicap accessible room. The bed itself was complete mush, we didn't sleep very well & our backs were killing us. The staff was rude & mostly barely English speaking foreigners. (What's the point of that!) The room was horribly dirty, we saw a roach & they wouldn't move us to another room. I could look past every other issue except roachs!!! The property overall is very un-kept and it's falling apart & the few coats of paint for appearances just aren't working anymore. Costumer service is very lacking. The full-time employees, aside from those who are there on some summer foregin exchange work visa program (who are useless) look miserable. Not a single smile on anyone's face. It's sad. Thankfully, the property is on the beach! If you choose to stay here you must upgrade/request a room directly on the beach. I was able to peek into one of those rooms during cleaning hours & wow those rooms are in much better condition! However, I only peeked in for a sec., beware of the awful beds & room dwelling roaches.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Upon arrival the outdated look isn't bad, but then the young brunette chick with an accent gives you attitude, dirty looks and tells you she "isn't sure" when your room will be ready after it is PAST already off to a bad start! Then they fail to call you when your room finally is ready—when they tell you to your face they will call you the moment your room is cleaned—and you're put in the WRONG room: a smoking, pet-friendly room; neither of which was mentioned on the website or requested and they wanted to try to charge EXTRA for those "special rooms"..... Allergy attack immediately upon entering the pet friendly/smoking room we hadn't reserved and major attitude to get the room we had reserved. More dirty looks from young brunette girl with accent. Also asked if I could find a restroom or changing room to change into a swimsuit so we could hang on the beach until our room was ready and young brunette with accent said "not possible" but I could "go to bar across street" towel change in parking lot then come to see a changing room and shower room.
Cons: Almost everything besides the location
4.2 Okay
Pros: Staff friendly and helpful Great location
Cons: Rundown hotel
6.8 Good
Pros: It was on the beach
Cons: Room needs updating, It had a smell. Room was not cleaned. Had to call they desk brought fresh towels. Breakfast was limited, hard bagels.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Overall it was great for the money! I can't say enough about the helpful stage! They were great! For an older beachfront facility it was clean and ok shape. Unfortunately the weather was very cold and rainy while we were there so we couldn't enjoy as much of the facilities as we would like. I would go again!

Pros: oceanfront
Cons: check in staff was somewhere between unpleasant and hostile. she simply glared at me when I arrived at the desk. we arrived at noon and asked if there was a chance the room might be ready, and perhaps we could check in early - she said "no early check in, it costs $50 if you want to check in before 2pm" subsequent interactions w/ her were no better. this is basically a stripped down old motel. lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. My family got stranded due to car trouble, and they managed to find us a room quickly with a 10% discount. The free breakfast was very nice. Right next to the beach. Excellent location. Very close to Jockey's Ridge and the Wright Brothers Memorial. Would definitely stay here again.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: It was the most disgusting "hotel" I've ever stayed at. Holes on the walls it smelled outdated overpriced.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location.
Cons: Couldn't get the condo cool enough and the bed was very uncomfortable. We slept in the bunk beds, but my in-laws said the other bed was comfy. Also, beware there is no elevator.
