Pros: This is a great location -- on the water, within walking distance of restaurants (choose Duke's). Rooms are nice, very clean, have huge TVs, comfy beds, and offer views. I've always been treated well here and only stay elsewhere if they don't have room or if the price is too high. A decent free Breakfast is also served in a great little dining area.
Pros: Don't stay on the south end of the building. Parking lot and train tracks are super loud. You'll get no sleep. The north end of the building is over the water and much quieter.
Pros: The setting was beautiful with view of the water from the room. The room was comfortable.
The breakfast had quality food with a good variety of options.
The parking was excellent.
Pros: The atmosphere was the best. Cool breeze off Pugent Sound,
Jacuzzi tub facing the bay, fireplace to take the chill off when you get out of tub, high quality bedding, spectacular view. Enough said. Hot breakfast was above average, staff helpful and friendly.
If you are the Tacoma area do not miss this hotel. It is well worth it.
Cons: Only wish we could have stayed a second night.

Guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby hiking/biking trails and kayaking, and free perks include WiFi, self parking, and full breakfast daily. Pros: Nice hotel with high end look and feel. Comfortable beds and clean room with friendly and professional staff.
Cons: Cafe in the hotel had very limited breakfast menu, and kitchen was shut down for breakfast when we went there at 10AM. Found a breakfast place about 3 blocks away, but would be nice to have breakfast at the hotel.

Pros: This was our best B&B during our vacation tour over 3 weeks.Friendly homeowners, all what we promised. Thanks to hotel employees.
I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. All of the rooms are lovely with private bathrooms, owners are very cool, good restaurants and grocery store in walking distance, close to downtown, great neighborhood with awesome historic architecture, the B&B has lots of outdoor areas and indoor areas to sit, relax, play games, etc. I will definitely stay here again every time I come to Tacoma. Breakfasts were different each day, and extremely tasty, they will cater to your preferences for dietary restrictions etc. and will serve breakfast at the time of your choosing. Very friendly, clean, comfortable, I felt very at home, it couldn't have been a better experience.
Pros: So glad I stayed there! Owners Toni & Martin were so welcoming and hospitable, home cooked breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and the house itself is gorgeous, historic, and very unique, in an awesome neighborhood with great views from the many patios
Good location in a quiet street
Pros: Breakfast was great. Internet worked very well.
Cons: Shower water pressure was bordeline
Located in the Stadium-Seminary Historic District, the McCormack Mansion, built in the Italian Renaissance Style, was constructed in 1925 for James McCormack, an early Tacoma merchant and owner of the McCormack Brothers Department Store.
Pros: The breakfast was great, and made to order. The neighborhood was quiet and safe.

Pros: Great location and helpful staff.
Pros: Great Breakfast

Pros: Overall it was great. Very safe, nice staff, clean and comfy beds and rooms. Really liked the parking situation.
Cons: Only a couple of downsides: tv channel selection was mediocre. The breakfast was also limited. Slightly overpriced honestly.
Pros: Hotel is very clean staff was very helpful breakfast was awesome
Cons: Location was a little hard to find and the security while feeling safe made you nervous that they needed so much
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the desk people were really sweet. Check in was friendly, check out was perfect. Very polite, professional and happy to help.
Cons: There was hair in the shower, the room smelled like smoke and despite the do not disturb sign on the door, housekeeping entered the room four times in one morning. I had to yell, I am still in here while clutching blankets around my, ahem, birthday pajamas. Also, all but one entrance was gated and chained when I arrived after my event, which no one warned me about. I drove around in a bit of a circle until I found the one open and honestly felt a bit shaken walking from my car into the hotel. Despite the obvious need for strict security, I did feel that my car would be safe, since I could barely figure out how to get to the lot.
Pros: This is one of the best hotels I have ever used. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and eager to make us feel welcome. Everything was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient. No security concerns. I would absolutely stay here again.

Pros: The feel, the professionalism of the staff, the beauty of the hotel. I enjoyed the artwork.
Cons: I'd really prefer not to pay for parking, but it wasn't a horribly high rate either.
Pros: Rooms nicely furnished. Nice view. Quiet
Cons: Personal in restaurant could have been a bit more attentive. Waited a long time for second cup of coffee. Busy talking with each other. Not many people in restaurant so they had time to check on us.
Pros: Artwork, amenities, atmosphere, and food
Pros: Clean comfortable and they had bath robes. Pleasant staff.
Cons: Had to pay for parking but only a couple of bucks.
Cons: Thought we were getting a King but was two double beds. And the doubles were the same price as King. You would think for the price you pay it would at least have been two Queens. If we had not prepaid we would have gone to Best Western down the road. At least you would get King or Queen there. The faucet handle was sticky so must not have been cleaned properly and light bulb in lamp was burned out.
Pros: The unique glass art on each floor. We were on the 7th :).
Cons: The elevators.
Pros: Cleanliness of hotel, and the room service food was good, until it upset my stomach, then I did not like it so munch.
Cons: Cheap amenities. I have stayed at lesser hotels that had better beds, pillows, coffee makers, bathrooms and TVs.
This hotel is far too overpriced. I think I paid for all the art work instead of a quality room. I don't mind paying $300 for a room, but it should include good quality bedding at the least.
I will not stay at this hotel in the future.
Pros: The rooms were nice and clean, with nice views of Mt. Rainier.
Cons: The water didn't work either morning, so I was unable to shower.. only a small discount was given for this huge inconvenience. The oysters were served warm, so I had to send them back for fear of food poisoning. The elevators were broken and/or insufficient for a hotel with so many rooms. No one offered to help me with my bags. The refrigerator didn't work. I was surprisingly disappointed!

Pros: The beds were comfy, everything was clean, the staff was friendly, CHEAP, loved it (and I'm picky)
Pros: Liked that breakfast was included. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice quiet location. Seemed like a safe area.
Cons: The cleaning staff came into room at 10:00 am sharp wanting to start cleaning the room while we were still getting ready to leave for day. However we asked them to wait 15 min so we could leave. no problem
Pros: Clean room, plenty of space, very quiet, good continental breakfast, and friendly staff.
Cons: The wireless internet they offer was useless. It couldn't load anything.
Pros: The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I slept better in this hotel than I have in many others.
Cons: The walls are a little thin and the Internet didn't connect for us.
Pros: The facility was very clean both inside and out. Quiet location away from the freeway.
Pros: Staff was very friendly.
Cons: Paid way to much thru Kayak....if I had booked thru the hotels website I would have paid $40 less. When I called kayaks customer service I got the run around about rates changing from day to day. I booked hotel on the same day we checked in, so rates wouldn't have changed. When I pointed this out I was given the same verbatim response. Felt like he was reading it from a card..... Will not use kayak again.
Pros: Clean and quiet.
Cons: Outdated saggy carpet.

Pros: Access to the hotel was very easy. The front counter staff was very nice and the rooms were clean.
Cons: The morning breakfast was a joke. Not stocked at all, even with a staff worker there. No butter for toast, no milk for cereal, no spoons, and the eggs sat empty for 20 minutes with a room full of people.
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet.
Cons: The neighborhood is not the greatest.
Pros: The front desk host help as much as they could for what they had to work with
Cons: The first room I was put in I walked into an the bed was tore apart sheets all messed up on a chair bed up against the wall an box springs on their sides an got moved from a king size.beddroom bed with jetted tube down to a queen double bed room beddroom with no jetted tube

Pros: The place was fairly close to Tacoma Dome, that we were able to walk to the hotel after the concert.
Cons: The staff are really nice. I did have a horrible stay, it smelled like sewer in our room. At first, maybe it's just the famous "Aroma of Tacoma" and it'll dissipate once we turn the AC on. We were not in the room that long since we were heading out to watch Lady Gaga's concert. When we got back, as I opened to door, the smell was so strong that it just made me gag! Had a hard time sleeping because of the smell. Had to toughen it out since we were just there for the night. When we got up, we decided to just leave as soon as we could.
Pros: Jazmine, at the front desk was so helpful. I had booked a different hotel and it was unsafe and dirty. Jazmine greeted me with a smile and hello and made me feel welcome. I was very frustrated but she was able to claim me and gave me my room. She even booked my next stay in Tacoma.
A high five to Jazmine for her incredible customer service
Cons: No comment
Pros: You can tell someone tried to make it nice at one point. Wifi wasn't bad
Cons: First off I want to point out this is my first review of a hotel ever and I stay in one every week for work. First thing as you get outside of the hotel the air smells terrible. Did every day for our entire stay, which ruins the pool also. Even though it had been updated, it was incredibly dirty. They must not own a single vacuum cleaner because the entire hotel floor was covered dirt, debris, etc. From a distance it looks nice but as soon as you get close its nasty. Once we checked in our bed had a lot of long black hair in it. Obviously not cleaned. He switched our room and of course the hall on the new floor was also disgusting, so at this point I had no confidence in cleanliness of anything which takes all comfort away. We tried going down to the bar and the beer was flat and warm. I couldn't bring myself to try the food after everything else I saw that week. Homeless people hang out in front and in the parking lot. Terrible part of Tacoma, definitely not a safe place to be out.
Pros: It was close to the dome. That's it.
Cons: The front desk staff looked like they were straight out of prison. They were rude and not accommodating. We asked for an extra pillow and they made us wait until 11pm to get one. The soap was open in our room. Not a huge deal. Overall I'd say this hotel needs major upgrades. It should have been a $75 stay at the most. Not over $100. It served our purpose. But would not stay here again.
Pros: NOTHING! THEY WERE NICE ABOUT TRYING TO GIVE US ANOTHER ROOM BUT THEY WERE JUST AS BAD AS THE ONE WE HAD.
Cons: I WILL NEVER GO BACK NOR EVER RECOMMEND IT. WE GOT A 10$ DISCOUNT FOR OUR ROOM AND WE PAID WAY TO MUCH. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE SCREENS ON THE WINDOWS.
Pros: Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Very quiet even next to the freeway. Staff was very helpful, especially in the restaurant.
Cons: Hotel is a bit dated, shows some wear, ventilation system was noisy.
Pros: A place to sleep
Cons: Smelled like smoke bad, set off my sons allergies. night desk agent not friendly or helpful
Cons: Lounge was closed a little to early
Cons: The walls are thin. Loud noise at night.
Pros: Clean comfortable bed
Pros: The free breakfast was decent, the hotel seemed clean and for the most part accommodating...For the price in the area it was inexpensive but still nice enough.
Cons: It seemed outdated, paint and tile were chipped in the bathroom. The staff ignored me when I can to check in and instead took a phone call of someone else asking really stupid questions. In their defense there was only one person and the desk and she did say it was her first time at that particular property.

Cons: There were some questionable individuals walking around the parking lot a couple of nights, but security/police were on the property at those times so it felt safe.
Pros: Indoor pool
Pros: Great room 106 - room was in the back corner of building away from traffic street. View of a pond was nice! Room was very clean and everything in the room I needed. the staff desk person - She was very helpful! I would stay here again.
Cons: The room was extremely ugly and poorly set up. It was so bad that I never wanted to be in my room. The breakfast was below average. The entire hotel needs to be updated. Looking out the hotel window I saw a man PEEING in the public area behind the hotel!
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Pros: Location was fine, room was clean and well laid out, breakfast was very good and plentiful, price was right, staff (for the most part) was helpful, parking was free.
Cons: Special offer on door tag was not honored until I pointed out discrepancy to higher staff. I was told door tag was not correct but they would give me the points anyway. Seems very unprofessional to not work out offer before putting it on door tag.
Pros: The staff was kind, greeted us with a smile and was helpful.
Cons: This hotel is in shady part of Tacoma, the parking lot is shared with pawn shop, check cashing and other businesses that attract loitering of desperate people. I felt scared in fear of leaving ANYTHING in my car, coming back late or being alone outside.
Pros: Hotel Employee at the front desk was amazing! What a compliment to the staff at Holiday Inn Express. The room was wonderful, the bed was comfortable and everything was up to expectations. Definitely stay there again.
Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast choices, and convenient location.
Cons: the room keys didn't work very well. Had to swipe them many times to get the door open.
Pros: Great location just a short drive from the Puget Sound and downtown.
Pros: Room was quiet, comfortable, and clean.
Cons: Location was very sketchy. Pool area had no towels and was not too clean.
Pros: The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We love staying where we can get breakfast included.

Pros: - cleanliness
- large tv
- comfortable desk chair
- non-sheer curtains that covered the entire window
Cons: - pillows were difficult to adjust to keep my neck aligned properly
- snack vending machines only took credit/debit cards
- parking difficult to find (sign made it unclear whether you turned before or after it for the correct level)
Cons: The breakfast food didn't cut it for me:(
Pros: Friendly desk staff. Good room.
Cons: Only a thin blanket on the bed and I don't think any extras were in the closet, which is not ideal if you like to sleep in a colder room with heavier blankets.
Pros: Good Location, quiet, comfortable bed and room, pretty good meal.
Cons: The room I had was pretty run down - large cigarette burn on rug and ripped shower curtain made it look pretty tacky.
Cons: i requested the double queen beds and unfortunately one of the beds were caving and it was very uncomfortable. i was pretty upset with myself first and foremost because i forgot to call the front desk about it. but i feel like the hotel staff should've been aware of this in the first place before checking guests in that room. the room i stayed in was in room 538. anyway, hopefully they'll have that bed replaced!
Pros: The room was very clean, staff was very friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was great, filling and the ladies working it were wonderful.
Cons: The tub was very slow draining. When running the water to prepare for shower tub was filling so you're standing in dirty water and can't truly rinse your ankles and feet. The toilet was also slow in draining after flushing it. The water would rise almost to
Pros: The hotel was very clean, check in and check out were so simple. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was amazing!
Pros: It was a pleasant stay, everyone was very nice hotel was good nice view of downtown Tacoma reminded me of downtown Portland.
Pros: clean room friendly and informative staff quiet room which I requested even the iron and ironing board were clean and worked well
Cons: not much to complain about maybe better water pressure in shower and of course could have been cheaper rate but that is always the case
Cons: The bartender had a very very poor attitude. threw menus and napkins down. seemed very annoyed that we wanted to order food.
Pros: The room was nice! Would definitely stay again!
Cons: Would have liked a restaurant on site....or more food options, rather than having to leave the hotel!!
Pros: Facility was clean and the staff was friendly.
Cons: AC system was not functioning well and the public areas and hallways were hot and stuffy. The elevators are exposed and the afternoon sun would heat them up like a sauna. Rooms were also a bit on the small size-- especially when travelling with a family.

Pros: For an overnight stay that you're trying to do on a budget, this place is awesome. There aren't too many frills or fancy things about the hotel. Most of the rooms are pretty dated, but if that doesn't bother you, than this place is great. It's clean and everything, just not modern.
Cons: Check in was a little slow but it wasn't that bad.
Pros: The rooms were nice and the hotel was clean.
Cons: Could have had a way better breakfast.
Pros: 24 hour pool access
Pros: Wonderful breakfast
Friendly, supportive staff
clean and comfortable
Pros: Everything was great. My son loved the chocolate chip cookie pancakes.
Cons: Vending machines were practically empty
Pros: What should have been a two night stay for our attendance at the U.S. Open in Tacoma, WA, turned into a seven night stay as my husband unexpectedly went into septic shock, and had to be moved by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment and subsequent emergency surgery. As expected, there were no rooms available anywhere due to the golf tournament. However, Sandra and her staff at the Tacoma Shilo Inn not only made sure I had a room for the entire week of my necessary stay, but every single day, they made sure to especially inquire as to my comfort and needs. I cannot thank them enough. Everything about my stay was just wonderful and supportive, and took a huge burden off of me as to housing so far from our home in Oregon.
When you stay at Shilo Inn & Suites - Tacoma, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Museum of Glass and Tacoma Dome. The indoor pool is a great spot for a morning swim, and guests can get a workout in at the fitness center. A sauna and a steam room are offered, and rooms have conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: Loved both hosts. House was clean and accommodations were appropriate. Breakfast was served at 8 am. The house is only a 2 mile walk to the water.
Cons: Share bathroom, but it was advertised as such, so I knew this going in.
Pros: The place is great and our hosts were incredibly nice and friendly - not to mention, Patty is an excellent cook and makes a spectacular breakfast. This is a perfect bed & breakfast in a nice area of Tacoma. Highly recommended.
At Secret Garden Bed & Breakfast, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Museum of Glass and Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Free perks include continental breakfast, WiFi, and self parking. Other highlights include a garden, and rooms offer DVD players and bathrobes.
Pros: Bed wasn't lumpy, frig was clean and cold. When I called the front desk about needing an iron, they were prompt in giving me one. There was lots of parking. Room was spacious.
Cons: Huge gap under door, floor was sticky,, curtain wasn't wide enough to cover window, controls were broken on heater, toilet wobbled when you sat on it, iron was missing, and the air deodorizer were so strong when we first entered the room, our noses burned. The room next door had a kid who woke up 3 times during the night crying and screaming. It would have been nice if the parents could have calmed the child sooner than 15 min.of crying. Wifi was broken and not working. No vending machines available.
Pros: Okay room.
Cons: The front desk service. Asked to call us back about our watch only an hour after we checked out, and it was around 4am when we checked out. We remember exactly where we left the watch. We were just in a rush to airport and exhausted since it was 4am. They did not call me to update me at all. I called every hour to find out if they found it. They said housekeeper has not cleaned the room yet. Later night, I called again. They asked me to call in the morning around 8am next day. when I did, they didnt answer. I called every 30min for at least two hours, still no answer. I called finally around 1:39pm. Sherry, front desk, put me on hold for ten to 15 minutes. They said they did not find it. We are 100 percent sure that the watch was set next to coffee maker on a napkin. I wonder... what happened...????? If you want a good service with trust worthy hotel, maybe this is not the right one for you.
Pros: Clean and pleasant.
Pros: It's a new hotel. Housekeeping did an excellent job.
Cons: Even though I had prepaid for my stay one week in advance for a better rate, the management charged my credit card again after we checked in. They denied it every day. Choice Hotels did not try to intervene because the hotels are individually owned. A Mastercard representative helped me though. DON'T TRUST THIS HOTEL!!!! THEY WILL LIE TO YOU!!!
Pros: Nothing is good as our reservation was not honored at all. They charged our money and transferred us to Econo Lodge.
Cons: They (a young manager) refused our Kayak reservation. She said that we are not supposed to be able to stay in Quality Inn for this price. So, she transferred to Econo Lodge which seems to be a same management.
We did have Kayak reservation for Quality Inn then she refused the reservation. As I did not make a drama in front of my wife and 2 year old daughter with this manager who did not want to listen our side of story at all, we stayed in Econo Lodge.
We will never forget about this unethical business conduct.

Cons: -The room stank! Smelled like mildew!
-There was a lot of smoke in the next room and in the hallways.

Pros: I liked the location and the fact that hooters was next door and it was convenient to be close to the locations I was visiting.
Cons: There was blood stains on the sheets. Bath had high water pressure & sink had low water pressure.

Pros: You get what you paid for - i appreciated that they were going to charge me more than the rate i booked, and the girl upfront was so kind to accommodate my planned rate instead. But, my hopes of comfort were quelled when i got to my room with only the very most basic amenities. It was fine, except that the wooden nightstand was just so greasy all over that it was really disappointing. I mean somebody had really lubed that thing up, and it was not pine sol!

Pros: Rooms were updated with clean comfortable beds and bedding. Staff was friendly and rooms was quiet. Conveniently located to freeway and Downtown Tacoma.

I am familiar with Tacoma and Fife so I wasn't surprised by the location but for travelers the are is a little questionable and there are no places close by to walk to .
Cons: It's in a very rough part of town.
Pros: Raven the front desk person was wonderful
Cons: The manager was horrible. TV didn't have remote and didn't work properly. Dirty. Cheap flea bag hotel
Cons: Room felt dirty and old
A/C was confusing to use
For the price we paid ($100ish) we felt we could've got a better hotel with better value.
Pros: Pretty nice room and nice accommodations.
Cons: Location is on the outskirts of Tacoma near the hood. Pretty sure hookers and tweeters live there. Have fun explain to your children what they were listening to at 2am in the room upstairs, pretty sure someone was earning a buck or two.
Pros: Bed very comfortable, The counter lady very very nice.
Cons: The room had a strong airfreshner smell. The refreshments were not full. And the continental breakfast was not very impressive. The coffee was bad.
Pros: Location was good. Room was reasonably clean despite being horribly run down.
Cons: Everything was in a poor state of repair. Refrigerator's compressor clunked all night, toilet barely flushed, tub had big chips, TV picture was barely tolerable. There was so much wrong that I didn't bother complaining as it was clearly a case of the entire property not being properly maintained. Front desk clerk was OK although not terribly engaging, maid was impatient at checkout time, despite my being nearly ready to leave (within 5 minutes at the most) -- no "thank you", no "how was your stay", just a general lack of civility and interest in customer service. Perhaps their staff is as worn down as their rooms due to management that just doesn't seem to care.
Cons: All the freaking prostitutes
Pros: Price. Friendly staff. Convenient location to Tacoma Dome.
Cons: Room did not smell fresh. Curtains didn't close properly. The walls/trim need to be cleaned (especially to front door and bathroom). Room missing clothing iron.

Pros: Ice bucket and love to see roll away bed and lil cribs and ice buckets and more important comfortable bed and shampoo and conditioner with ice buckets
Cons: It was loud. The people that stay there didn't have respect what time it was. The bed was super uncomfortable to even sleep on. They didn't have roll away bed or even cribs for young babies. No ice buckets or small sample of shampoo or conditioner. Bathroom smell disgusting
Pros: Lots of hookers and druggies.
Cons: Heroin needle was right outside my door.
Prostitution was clearly going on in the room next to mine.
