The host was very friendly and helpful. Location was superb.
The room was not too clean and was tiny. The breakfast is just bread and eggs which you have to make yourself. It was expensive for what we got.
Excellent location and close to most of the popular tourist attractions. Quite cheap compared to other hotels in the area.
Bunk bed was very uncomfortable. Staff not around to if you need help with anything. Our room was right next to a building site, no sleep after 8am
Everything is good and location is in the centre
Friendly staff and good to have a private bathroom. Also near a famous place to visit in seoul.
Water isn’t that strong in the shower and the room is a bit small. Aint that spacious but will do for those who aren’t that too tall.
I’ve been travelling solo in Asia for a few months, usually in hostels, and I wanted to book a private room and give myself some quality sleep and more privacy when visiting Seoul for 5 nights. That’s why I booked Hotel Sulla based on the food reviews. What a disappointment. Basically if you just need a clean bed and you don’t care about noise or quality breakfast, give it a shot for the good location. If you need more comfort you might wanna look elsewhere. Pros: - the location of the hotel is great. Walking distance to the two main palaces, Bukchon hanok village, trendy neighborhoods of ikseon-dong/insadong, gwangjang market, etc and pretty close to a subway stations (10 min walk) - Free laundry (but no dryer, you hang your stuff on the roof top) - Rooms are very clean at check-in. The cleaning team do a great job.
Cons: - not professionally organized at all. You enter in the hotel through the kitchen/cafeteria area, and find the front desk in a little hallway past the cafeteria. If your lucky somebody will be at front desk. - The hotel team doesn’t seem to care much about the guests or the hotel but more about their video games. Most of the day nobody was present at front desk. I had to send a message to the hotel via booking.com to tell them they ran out of bread and butter and coffee so that I could not have breakfast (at 8.30am) - Front door is open 24/7 even though no one is at front desk. - No information provided at checkin (don’t expect maps of the city or any piece of advice) - Breakfast is self-served. Don’t expect them to give you more explanation. Help yourself of whatever is in the fridge (usually butter, jam, milk, eggs) and whatever is on the counter (toasts, cereals). - Don’t expect much from the roof top is not well-maintained and in my opinion is not attractive - Rooms have heated floor. Temperature is set centrally for the whole building but some room get warmer than others. Mine was like a sauna at night, but fortunately the manager reacted to my request and turned it lower for the rest of my stay. - My double bed was the worst I’ve had in the last 3 months in terms of comfort. - Towels are the size of a hand towel. Not so convenient to use after a shower. - Pretty weak and variable water pressure in the shower - The rooms are not soundproof. You can hear the echo of whatever is happening in the cafeteria, hallways or in the other rooms (couples having sex etc) - I stayed 5 nights and my room has not been cleaned or towels changed during my stay.
A stay at Hotel Sulla places you in the heart of Seoul, within a 15-minute drive of Deoksugung Palace and Gyeongbok Palace. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
