Your guide to booking Seoul flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to Seoul, aim to book around 21 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 29% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to Seoul, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to land around $919 round-trip. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a strong deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, time your trip to Seoul around January. Round-trip fares historically average $990 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat-selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to evening to save up to $94 per round-trip. Evening flights to Seoul average $1,201 compared to $1,295 for noon flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class and route. On flights to Seoul, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, AIR PREMIA includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class, Asiana Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class and Korean Air includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in Seoul, a few great places to start are Hongdae Area, Myeongdong Shopping Street and Seoul Station. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • For those wanting a quiet place to pray, ICN offers prayer rooms in both Terminal 1 (on the 3rd floor near Gate 24, on the 4th floor west side, and at the 4th-floor center) and Terminal 2 (on the east side of the basement first floor).
  • Travelers with flights to Seoul will almost certainly land at Incheon International Airport (ICN), Seoul’s major international airport. However, Incheon International is not the only airport in Seoul; Gimpo International Airport also serves the city. Gimpo International was originally the major airport of Seoul, but nowadays it is a secondary and more domestically-focused airport.
  • Looking for a place to relax while at Incheon International Airport? Multiple Relax Zones are located throughout the airport, allowing travelers to find lounge chairs and electronic outlets. There is also a Nap Zone with numerous plush recliners specifically designated for napping.
  • Got a few hours to spare at Incheon International Airport? Check out the CGV Movie Theater in Terminal 1. There’s no better way to kill a few hours than by seeing what is on the silver screen -- after all, a trip to the theater could even be considered a cultural experience, as you could see the latest Korean flick while you are there.
  • Fashion and cosmetics are two of South Korea’s biggest businesses nowadays, and Incheon International Airport certainly does these two industries proud. The selection of premier brands and products is truly expansive in the duty free shopping areas of the airport. Travelers can find a wide selection of both international and homegrown Korean products available for purchase.
  • Many hotels offer complimentary shuttle service to and from Incheon International Airport. For travelers looking to go straight to their hotel after their flight to Seoul, options to consider are Grand Hyatt Incheon, Hotel Hu Incheon Airport and Orakai Songdo Park Hotel. There is even a capsule hotel, Capsule Hotel Darakhyu, located right within the airport.
  • If you need to store some luggage at ICN, lockers are available on the third floor near Check-in B and Check-in N. Storage is available 24h and costs roughly $5 to $9 per day.
  • If you need to smoke, there are a variety of dedicated smoking rooms on the first and third floors of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Passenger terminal: 2 locations in public area 1F; 6 locations in departure area 3F; 1 location at the domestic airline office 2F. Concourse: 2 locations in 2f; 4 locations in 3F.
  • If you want some muscle relaxation after a long flight to ICN, consider checking out the spas for skin care and massage treatments. In Terminal 1, they’re near Gates 25 and 29; in Terminal 2, they’re near gates 231 and 268. Both are open from 7 am to 8 pm.
  • Do you have a long layover schedule in ICN and need a place to relax and rest? They have a spa in T2 East where you can relax during layovers.

The boarding process was efficient and quick. The seats were comfortable. The food was good. The service was excellent. We had a lovely flight from Seattle on Korean air

Flight crew was fantastic. The aircraft was meticulously cleaned at all times. The crew was continuously checking to see if the passengers were ok.

It was good, I liked the self-serve snacks but it was a little difficult to get the alcohol, which is understandable since I wouldn't want kids sneaking it.

Friendly flight attendants and gate agents. Very clean plane and food was good!

I was unable to select decent seats, and so I was stuck in the middle seat because it was selected for me

There was a lot of partial tv shows but not enough to last the flight. The food was incredible! The crew were so helpful and patient. Lots more space than what I usually get on an international flight. Very comfortable!

Stingy on the drinks - 15 hour direct flight and could barely get attention for some water

Not many people, so you can lay down on two seats

The delay in Korea was a pain and set us back a day. I have to give big props to Korean Air for setting up a hotel with dinner and transportation to and from the hotel. I also needed assistance with a wheelchair and they did an outstanding job.

long flights are difficult but the crew and amenities made it a very good experience

Reasonable fair, good service, in sum, I am very happy!

Seating was good in the economy with plenty of leg room. The seat cushions were a little firm though, especially for such a long flight. All meals were Korean as would be expected. The food was typical airline quality. Edible, but not something you would recommend to friends. Inflight entertainment was also all Korean but Korean tv and movies are made well and you can find something to watch. Just be prepared to read subtitles. Overall it was a good flight, especially for the price.

The person in front of me was rude. He may came from some communism countries and don’t care of other people. No common manner and sense between human being.

The staff were very friendly, and the flight was comfortable. That said, there was no option to specify dietary restrictions before the flight, so you may need to bring your own food. Also, there was no wifi available for the flight, though there is an in-flight entertainment console with many Korean-language shows and movies.

The legroom was great for a 5’11” person. The 11 hour direct flight had two meal services included in the ticket price which was less than other airline’s cost without food service (Canada air)from sfo to incheon. The airline is focused towards Korean nationals with the onboard entertainment selection of Korean movies but English subtitles were available. Overall premia air is a great option to fly from the US to Korea.

Plane and service were great. The entertainment is only for Koreans. Wish there were vegetarian options for food. All in all pleasantly surprised. Economy premium was quite good.

Great airline, but there was no English entertainment (movies or shows)

One of our luggage items was damaged during our flight to Newark from Incheon. Although our email communication was not responded to, when discussing the matter with the staff at the Newark checkin before our return flight to Incheon, we were provided with a free replacement luggage item. This customer service was, overall, very satisfactory.

Some favorite food ran out of service and I have to eat what was left available. Also I had to drink cold red wind! Why could not have been kept in room temperature?

Plan was very clean and very comfortable seat Very smooth flight without any engine noises.

Waited a long time at JFK to board with no information being readily available.Left about 45 minutes late and it was 2:45 AM in JFK.Nothing todo. Second deck of the Airbus is more comfortable or seems that way because there is less people. Food was OK. The food on secondleg was better as we had ordered it before hand. We thought we had did that on the long first leg but we were told we did not. Cabin crew was generally nice. There are people who lean back when eating as they wait for food to be delivered and know no one will check -- drag. TV selection was awful movies OK. Comfortable all in all.

Not enough seat cushion. Butt was hurting especially on long flight. Not enough movie selection. Entertainment was outdated. Coffee served was cold. Other than that flight was good.

Humm, I should have known that the seat I peaked on my flight from Inchon to Manila was designed for a toddler or very small person.

The staff hold my luggage to steel and exchange my stub, i was very disappointed.

Kayak along with airfare assay are attempting to steal my money. Charges are being pressed.

Customer service and attention to details. The food was good.

I’d have rated Asiana good except an unfortunate incident in which I felt one of your employee didn’t really help us. During the first leg of the trip, the flight from LAX to ICN, I left my backpack on the plane. When I realized, I reported to one of your employee who promised me that it’d be taken care of, that my backpack will be there at HCM city. When we arrived there, HCM people had no idea and my backpack was still at Incheon airport who denied any knowledge whatsoever. I was left in the cold and felt helpless. I was very disappointed. I’d like someone to look into this and let me know.

It was my first time flying Asiana but i was very pleased with how professional and understanding the flight crew is with little kids. One flight attendant held my 3 year old daughter’s hand guiding her to the exit after landing while i had my hands full with luggage and my infant. She was very helpful.

My luggage didn’t arrive with my flight. Flight was delayed by nearly 2 hours while we sat on the plane and I almost missed my connecting flight and subsequently missed the last train from the airport so it took me another 2 hours to get to my destination after arriving, Crew skipped me several times when offering beverages, and I couldn’t get their attention at times because they wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. They didn’t give me a form for disembarking so I had to go to the back of the line after waiting an eternity for immigration. Paid for on flight wi- fi that didn’t work for most of the flight.

Love flying Asiana. Been using it for over a decade now.

They announced a mechanical issue prior to boarding Said it was fixed, we boarded Waited Then learned it was not fixed Had to deplane and go to new gate Bought wifi on plane and it never worked

The plane was a rather tired 737-800, with old style small luggage bins. Poor air flow. USB charger in the infotainment system was not functioning. The flight was 2 hours late due to crew rest requirements (not their fault). On arrival in Seattle, waited on the tarmac for 30 minutes with very few updates from the crew.

Flight was delayed and we were on the runway after landing for 30 mins

The plane is old. There was water dripping fown from the air cooling system. The toilets were mot that clean

We were delayed so pilots can rest and had no WiFi the whole trip. First class seats are small compared to other planes

The experience was bad. Flight was delayed to handle maintenance (understandable) but still there was some dew forming and dropping as droplets on few seats. Internet at best was allowing some browsing but at a snail pace.

I was given middle seat on this flight and prior Boston to Seoul flight That is a problem for long flights, Kayak system did not give me a change to select my seats and assigned me middle seats regardless of my elevated status in Delta. This needs immediate attention.

A 12 hour flight during the day with one real meal service - are you kidding? Also the breakfast was one of the worst and not what was listed

The flight attendant on Korean airline was a super nice. it’s one of the best over-sea airline I flew so far.

All in all it was a long flight in economy class. There’s only so much comfort one can expect on a plane. The seats felt exceptionally hard and as an over 6’ individual I’ll seldom feel great about legroom. The food was good and the flight crew was great. The headphones provided for the movies were terrible, though

The flight was excellent. Their was no service as we boarded, the flight attendants spent about 30 minutes just taking and not really caring that the cabin was about 80 degrees and did not offered any beverage to first class passengers or any passenger. The flight from DEN to ONT is not long but not under an hour, we received one drink and bag of chips if you were lucky. I was in first class…. I did leave my hat on the plane and it only took less than five minutes for a United rep to locate and bring it to me.

Flight did not have wifi service. It was experiencing technical difficulties. Definitely and old plane that needs updating.

Very Poor. Significant delays getting to Chicago and then very poor communication on delays in Chicago to Cleveland. We could have rented a car and driven there faster than the delays ended up being.

A little more friendliness from that crew of the day.

The app logs you out right when you are boarding requiring all passwords and reservation number for the flight. Super annoying

The pre-order only approach for fresh food is really challenging

This flight has a history of leaving late, however, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not delayed this day. The flight went smooth, except I was in a window seat and the wall and my feet were freezing. I found it difficult to sleep due to being so cold, I also was using 2 provided UAL blankets and could not get my feet warm. This was annoying, but I still made it there on time and safe.

Staff didn't seem confident about the ingredients in my lactose intolerance meal

the seat has a problem. the back had a hole.

United Airline crews were very friendly and very attentive. 12 hours flight was gone like in a shorter one.
