When you stay at Acqua Dive in Zamboanguita, you'll be on the beach and within a 5-minute drive of Malatapay Market. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel is superb. Perfect place to relax and go to Apo island.
Cons: We liked everything.
Pros: Nice staff. Good size confortable modern room. Good location
Cons: As you go diving or snorkeling, a safe box would be appreciated. Food in the restaurant is not always good and often oily. A bed sheet and a towel had to be changed because they were not clean.
Pros: Quiet, beautiful rooms, great and efficient service, lovely garden and sea surrounds, they have their own boat and dive instructor
Cons: It was a little distance from the main town centre which adds to the cost of transfers but it wasn’t a bad thing to be a little away from the business and traffic.
Pros: The food here is amazing
Pros: the environment was comfortable.
Cons: it seems like many rules in this accommodation. felt not like home during the stay
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere in beautiful location within close proximity to Apo Island with friendly staff who cannot do enough for you
Pros: Loved everything about it. Quiet INCREDIBLE muck diving Amazing staff Extremely clean Good western food Amazing value for money Ismael is an incredible dive master/spotter Safe Has a house reef
Pros: Breakfast had good options for healthy and more decadent requests. Yogurt with fruit, the "Baconator" and standard pancakes and such were all on offer. Coffee was instant only, if you're serious about your brew, bring your own. Other meals were consistently great, and in a rarity for the Philippines, EVERYTHING on the menu was available. No "out of stock Po" at Acqua Dive! Dive team was super professional and equipment was solid. Izmail took us on all 6 of our dives and was exceptional at spotting macro life and our favorite critters. The house reef is mind blowing for muck diving, we saw cuttlefish, 4 kinds of eels, scorpionfish, harlequinn shrimp, more cuttlefish, lots of seahorses, ghost pipefish, and lots of frogfish. Truly amazing and you can shore dive it from the resort. The resort dive boat is also large and roomy, much bigger than your standard banka. Prices here are also very competitive. I have also stayed on Apo Island and would recommend Acqua Dive 10/10 times over staying directly on the island. Book here, you won't be sorry!
Cons: The beach wasn't large or beautiful, good for a quick walk, but not a place for lounging. Better to stay near the pool and hammocks.
Pros: Quiet location. Amazing bathroom!
Cons: Far away from City Centre. No more choice for the foods
Pros: Very good diving facilities and staff.
Pros: Great location, the snorkelling off the beach was amazing and all the staff and owners were fantastic. Would have loved to have stayed longer
Pros: I like the ambiance, the serenity of the place the food was awesome, and the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place to go to recharge.
Pros: Very peaceful and lovely beach.
Cons: It was a fairly difficult place to get to from the main towns. But it was worth going the distance.
Pros: We like their food! It might be a bit different with Filipino type dishes, but it's overall good and delicious!
Cons: Nothing but maybe they can add a swimming pool.
Pros: Favourite resort in the whole of the Visayas, absolute gem of a place if you want to escape from everything and chill in peace (surprisingly difficult to find in the Philippines!) Food is excellent Very charming design, full of character The hosts are brilliant
Pros: This is a special hideaway from the hustle and bustle and just what we wanted! It is peaceful, extremely beautiful and has everything you could possibly want from a restful holiday. The food was outstanding and extremely healthy, all homemade and with a great variety, very unusual for the Philippines!
Cons: Nothing asvitcwas perfect!
Pros: The staff were lovely. I had a nice chat with the owner who informed me that the ‘Lonely Planet’ guides have informed readers that there are 1,700 steps down to the property!! This is a MISPRINT as there are only 107 steps, so don’t be put off! Also the food is great!
Cons: That I couldn’t stay longer and I didn’t go diving!
Pros: atmosphere and ambiance
Pros: I loved it all! It was the perfect escape. The owners, Nikki and Jamie are lovely, friendly and always willing to help out with any information you need or book transport for any excursions. They are divers so the option to dive while you are there is a bonus. Our kids did an Intro dive and loved it. The snorkelling straight out in front of the resort is great - you need to go out to the marker buoy to really enjoy the coral but it's well worth the swim. There are kayaks to use for free and a great way to explore the surrounding bays. The beach is a small bay so you really feel nice and secluded. When the tide is out, it's not great for swimming but that's when you lie in one of the several hammocks, read or pay cards instead. The bungalow was just like in the pictures - being able to look down onto the beach and the water was so relaxing. The bungalow felt so spacious because of the 'lounge' area with a hammock and it was lovely to hear the ocean at night. The restaurant is a great area to hang out in and the food never disappointed. My biggest concern before going was the food because there isn't the option of just walking next door to another restaurant but the food was always fresh, tasty, good portions, a nice variety and just the standard price you'd pay in most tourist places. It felt nice to have an honesty board for cold drinks. We did a day trip to Apo Island from here to snorkel with the turtles and it was very easy to arrange. Nikki arranged for us to be picked up early in the morning, we were dropped right where you sign up for a boat. It was straight forward getting the boat with all the prices posted on the wall. It cost us 3000 pesos return to rent a boat for the 4 of us and it was a great day out. On return, the driver was there to take us back. Kookoo's Nest was just what we needed.
Cons: For me, there was nothing I didn't like. However, others in the family found sleeping just with the fans a bit hot. The showers are only cold water but not once did anyone say they wished for a hot shower.
Pros: My night stay excided all my expectations . I plan to stay longer next time .
Pros: A beautiful place to make a getaway
Cons: It is hard to get there without a scooter/car
Pros: Exceptional for the Philippines... nice cotton sheets and pillows. Thick towels.
Cons: No drinkable water in the room, we asked and they lend us a container.
Pros: The location is stunning with a beautiful view over the sea: a constant breeze keeps it cool. The bungalows are very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and will arrange for you to be able to cook in the bungalow if you prefer. Very good value for money. There are only 3 bungalows so it is never crowded.
Cons: This place is really remote and can be accessed only by a very steep and windy dirt track. If you want to go anywhere you will need a motorbike or like long walks. The restaurant offers just basic fare: the local food is excellent; their attempts at foreign food less so.
Pros: The location
Cons: Maybe they add tv in the room
Pros: A comfortable large bungalow in a beautiful garden is a relaxing place to spend few nights on your travels. The hosting family is always happy to help with any requests. Food prepared in their restaurant is traditional Filipino and will not disappoint.
Cons: You need to take stairs down the hill and walk about 5 minutes to the beach which is quiet and shared only with local fishermen. Even though the beach is sandy the coast is rather rocky and the access to the water can be cumbersome during low tide.
Pros: Place is quite far from everything, so ideal for a quiet authentic village experience. We rented a scooter straight from the resort, it made things easy. Perfect sea views, great territory and garden, friendly staff, clean bungalows. Also decent wifi (rare thing for the Philippines).
Cons: 1. No transfer from the highway. To get here take a bus from the Ceres bus terminal in Dumaguete to Mayabon (50 pesos). Than catch a motorcycle taxi to the place. Pretty easy, but it'd be better if the resort can do it for their clients. 2. The beach isn't really suitable for comfortable swimming with kids.
Pros: A home away from city lights and noisy streets. The owner and the staff are hospitable. A beautiful view for sunrise and star gazing at night.
Pros: I like the hospitality of the staff. They are very accomodating. A really good Filipino culture. They are willing to provide us anything we requests. I was not able to book for a shuttle service earlier but they were able to made some arrangements for us which i find excellent. But i would suggest that if you need a shuttle service better to book it a day before or much earlier than your arrival to their place.
Cons: There were lots of insects falling from the ceiling. For improvement maybe they can put a net under the ceiling so that when guests sleeps they will not be disturbed by insects falling unto them
Pros: Wonderful place to have relax have a good time and go to apo island. Excellent bungalow i am really recommend 100 % value for money
When you stay at Kav's Beach Resort in Zamboanguita, you'll be on the beach and within a 5-minute drive of Malatapay Market. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Thumbs up! Great food, nice and relaxing resort.
Cons: needs improvement with the road going in..
Pros: The staff were always professional and curtious
Pros: The food was so good and the staf was so nice. We booked for 4 days but extended to 1 week.
Pros: Food is great, room were big
Cons: saw crawling insect on the bathtub coming from the drainage.. my granddaughter shouted seeing it..however the rest meets my expectation
Pros: Great place great food great value
Pros: Quant place and well maintained. The workmanship and layout was excellent. The staff were very good and accomodating. It fit our needs. The beach itself was rocky, we used the pool a lot. We went through the resort to Apo Island tour, highly recommended. We would stay here again
Cons: It’s far to get to other local tours. You would have to be up very early. I would have liked to see standup paddle boards or kayaking available
Pros: feel safe and WI-FI
Cons: breakfast is not so good and only one cook you have to wait 30 minutes. the location is not visible and the road going in is terrible.
Pros: Cleanses of the room. Very friendly staff and management. Location is good. Will be back again if around here.
Pros: I like everything, from their staff who are very polite and friendly. The swimming pool is small but very clean so my nieces and friends enjoy it a lot and I like the idea that their swimming pool is open from 7am to 10pm. The room and bathroom are both very clean well equipped with toiletries etc. It exceeds without expectations. My family and friends will book this resort again perhaps in our next trip next year. We will definitely recommend this resort. The ocean is just few steps away from the resort.
Pros: Everything at Kavs was excellent including the room where AC blew very cold, the staff went out of their way to accommodate any request to be served on the beach. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent, the food was a little over priced but so were the other nearby resorts.
Cons: The only thing I found to be a little difficult was trying to get a ride in the resort vehicle to the main road which was about 1/2 mile. It was as if I asking to much but it was an offered service and they thought nothing of saying it would be about an hour wait. I simply went to town and rented a motorbike for 400 PPS per day with no problems in four Philippine long stay trips.
With a stay at Thalatta Resort in Zamboanguita, you'll be 2.3 mi (3.6 km) from Malatapay Market and 14.2 mi (22.8 km) from Robinsons Mall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge during limited hours, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: No noise..relaxing
Cons: I it could have been little bigger but its ok
Pros: Very friendly staff. Everything is available - a nice spa, diving, or other organized tours. Pool is good sized for the size of the resort. Great food as well!
Cons: The bathroom had a smell to it and could use some updating.
Pros: Quite place
Cons: Electricity cut off several time every night
Pros: We choose this resort for their diving center and it was amazing, they were so nice and patient with us although we weren’t french :) The equipment is new and in very good condition. We had a great time diving in Apo island and after that they let us stay and chill at their pool even though we checked out. The owner is so kind and helpful. Thank you
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like was the food. It was below average. We were surprised, because the owner is a french.. Since there isn’t anything else around and you need a transportation to go eat elsewere, you have no choice but to eat there. For that reason they should do something about improving the quality of food.
Pros: Everything was absolutely amazing. The friendly staff made our stay unforgettable
Pros: Pool was absolutely fantastic.
Pros: The owner was very friendly and the staff were helpful on arrival. The garden is beautiful as is the pool. The massage I had was truly amazing; I was so relaxed after that. I enjoyed the main courses we ordered at the restaurant.
Cons: The van was too expensive at P950. Transport from Dumaguete should be free due to the out of the way nature of the resort. The room lacked in a lot of amenities; no complimentary water, a badly stocked minibar (no food), no safe, no hair dryer. The bed was uncomfortable due to it being actually two single beds instead of a property double bed like we asked for. It was difficult to find staff at the bar. I didn't like the dessert selection, which was very minimal. The other guests were noisy.
Pros: Everything here is just perfect to us. We went there for three times, for diving and relaxing. They have beautiful pool and joyful food. Staffs can even recognize us while we just went there every two years, that's amazing！
Pros: The pool, the view, facility, staff were perfect
Cons: You can’t bring food inside your room... and the food inside the resort is expensive
Pros: Very kind staff and manager. The food was excellent! We stayed for 2 days, extended for another 2 days. We then went island hopping and came back for the last 4 days of our holiday. I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay, snorkeling and diving activities.

Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely resort, secluded and spacious and away from any hustle and bustle. Lovely pool and the Air conditioned room was perfect.
Cons: Service was at times slow, sometimes had to wait to order as staff shuffled between bar and restaurant.
Pros: the pool ,the breakfast buffet, Monique the girl working in the poolbar !
Cons: i couldn,t read in the room, not a real problem..
Pros: Good food in the restaurant, good cocktails at the bar, very professional and friendly personal. Clean and a nice ambience.
Cons: The hot water in the shower didn't work properly and there was no possibility to store the luggage in the cosy cottages.
Pros: Joker the maintenance guy is going extra mile to send us to an area nearby.
Cons: Mosquitoes in the room. To pay for 3200 a night and be bugged by mosquitoes is something. The pillow is hard and too high. I ended up using the throw pillow from the chair. No hot water in the shower in the evening. There is in the morning but you have to wait for 5 mins while water is dripping off.
Pros: Beautiful, staff where very helpful, lovely place to staff, the food was amazing, little touches really made the stay
Cons: No WiFi in rooms and the rooms need better lightening
Pros: Cleanliness! The boutique resort is spick and span including the kitchen. The beach is nice as well as the lagoon, not deep and swimmable, water is clean. Food is very good, must try their wood fired pizza oven. Also they make their own bread and even their own bacon! Also serve generous portion. We stayed when the resort just reopened after renovation so the property was almost all to ourselves. The bamboo huts is nicely designed, i love the floors and the banig walls. Bed was comfy and has hot showers. The amenities and facilities are like that of staying at a 5star resort. Highly recommended and will definitely come back when in Dumaguete. I will try to dive with them next visit. Apo island is nearby but maybe better to join a group as too much additional to pay apart from renting a private boat.
Pros: This was the second time we have stayed in this establishment but this time we were in the relax bungalows. They are more than worth the little bit extra from the bamboo huts. Comfortable memory foam mattress in a large double bed, Cable TV, WiFi, safe, minibar, all the extras you would expect. Price is more than reasonable and the staff are a joy. The location is extremely picturesque and the beach is powdery sand and clear water. The resteraunt serves a good menu and the pool is lovely. All in all
Cons: The bar closes way to early for a night bird like myself. And the showers have no hot water at all.
Cons: Important details needed to be consider before booking your stay are not well specified. Resort rules are not very customer-friendly.
Pros: The rental motorbike on site
Cons: No restaurant
Pros: Nice resort...but i am not a resort girl...i would prefer to stay on a homestay or backpack because we feel that they are kind because they want not because they have to...they speak like robot they give you a big explaination is there to every tiny winy problem...the resort is cute, spraw are in paper not plastic good eco! the swimming pool is big enought to share with children, the beach is close and black sand (no snorkle), 10 minutes 100 pesos to go to the pier for apo, nice breakfast, cheap for a resort...
Cons: My room do not have internet (only on pool area), no fresh juice but cans for a resort on an island it is disappointing, no mint for mojiti neither^^ Little insects and mosquitos on pool area where the wifi works grrrr...

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and limited parking is available onsite.
Pros: - Great staff - Really nice, calm and remote place with great view from top rooms - Great dinner menu - Quite stable (but slow) internet connection
Cons: - Extremely expensive transport with no easy alternatives around - No direct trips to Apo Island - No power generator in case of lack of electricity - Not enough fruits in breakfast menu - Prohibited outside food/drink - No cellular signal
Pros: The beach.
Cons: Service overpriced. Wifi unstable.
Pros: Good place if you need to get away from a busy city life.
Cons: No phone signal, no internet during day time.
Pros: The minute we arrived at airport the mini bus and guy was waiting for us, once we arrived at the resort and shown around it was out of this world. The Staff where great, everything about this resort was great. Thanks to the owners and staff
Cons: Leaving the resort
Pros: I liked the ambience snd privacy.
Pros: Like the wide beach frontage. Fine sand. Clean waters.
Cons: Overpriced room rate. Bed not comfortable at all. Food too pricey for the quality.
Pros: We love this resort so much, it is very peaceful and the room have a very nice view overlooking to the sea, staff are very friendly and helpful, super management very co operative. Clean sandy beach. Wifi is fast and i didn’t expect this in this remote area. At the Reception they just installed cignal and it works fine. We liked our vacation in this place and will come back in December for three weeks stay!
Cons: That we have not so much time to stay.
Pros: Staff was very helpfull and friendly, smiling and professional. very beautil cove. Nice pool, good food, quiet area if you just want peace and tranquillyty, beautilful settings and amazing sunsets. Didn't use the diving but the other guests seemed to enjoy it. A bit far from shops, towns, jeepnees ect but easy to get privat transport .
Cons: I would be nice if the bins in the rest room got cleaned every day, and also clean cups and glasses in the room. A small chair or sunbed near the pool would be even more perfect for parents waching their children.
Pros: Good and yummy food. Excellent beach. Very quiet and cosy. Managed by a German.
Cons: We had the beachfront room. The airconditioning is too noisy, not possible to sleep with airconditioning.
Pros: It rained the entire time,, the facilities were pretty much shut down,, the steps to the third floor room were unsafe, but the people were exceptional. toilet didnt work, and construction workers and work outside of the room.
