Top quality and spotless accommodation in a large room with very comfortable beds. Good coffee and tea making facilities, with open access resident’s fridge with fresh milk and fruit juices. Spotless large very well-equipped bathroom. Wonderful breakfast prepared by Zoe and Keith. You won’t need another meal for 24 hours! I had full English which was perfect with high quality ingredients perfectly cooked. Surprising selection of fresh fruits (raspberries, strawberries, melon, pineapple, blueberries etc etc!!), locally produced yoghurt, fruit juices, cereals, toast, jams.... and a large croissant each. Pros: Everything was first class.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The Railway was a treasure trove of a find. The owners had obviously put a huge amount of thought/effort in refurbing the building to a very high standard indeed. The bedrooms & "open" areas had such great touches which made them each individual in character; I especially liked the non standard furniture, including the bureau in my bedroom, which was so much better than staying in a homogenous chain hotel. The people were very friendly/knowledgeable & the music in the bar was just my sort of scene. Drink was excellent & the breakfast that I had freshly cooked to order. If I had been staying longer, I would definitely have taken dinner in their restaurant, as the menu looked excellent & well considered. I intend to go back to Skipton again & will stay at the Railway again, without a doubt.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The landlady was the sweetest and really made us feel at home! There was nothing that was too much trouble to ask for and we can't wait to stay again. The Maypole was in the perfect spot for trains to other places to visit and the pub and room were just so welcoming at the end of a long day hiking. The Whernside room was absolutely spotless and cosy; the pictures really don't do it justice! The food was completely on another level, especially at the reasonable prices. The cooked breakfast wasn't greasy in any way at all, the coffee was topped up regularly and there were plenty of cold options to go alongside. The meals we had from the menu in the evening were stunning. Beautifully cooked beef, fantastic home made pie, roasties and yorkshire puds; literally not a single thing to complain about! Very much looking forward to our next stay!
Cons: Genuinely can't think of a single thing we didn't like!!

Pros: Everything

7.5 Good
Pros: Location good, room spacious and clean.
Cons: Strangely, we had to choose our breakfast on arrival, after a long journey. Extra coffee requested never materialised even though we were the only people at breakfast so staff not rushed off their feet.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location and evening meal. Bedroom spacious and immaculately furnished with plenty of coffee, tea, biscuits etc.
Cons: Provision of shower caps. Breakfast unimaginative and some confusion over orders - also delay when only 6 persons dining. Would prefer self service tea and coffee at breakfast.

Pros: Excellent in every sense. Amazing host. Angela was very helpful and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a delicious breakfast each morning of the stay. The place was spotlessly clean and a lot of attention to detail which made all the difference

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of the staff was amazing, and the location was perfect!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff and good restaurant. Gorgeous location.
Cons: Room quite hot. But it was a warm day. Location quite far from grassington but fine if you have a car or are walking the dales way (30 min off trail).
7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel was lovely with nice breakfast and beautiful location.
Cons: However the new owners completely let it down. We had booked this hotel for my fiance, his dad and his brother to stay in the night before our wedding which was taking place 2 miles away. The day they arrived the owner let him know that they had now taken over the lovely previous owners. She was rude and said that they hadn't received payment so we had to pay the full £160 again, I then had to call my bank to confirm that payment had in fact been made, so she had to refund the money we had just paid. Then that evening she said that my fiance would have to leave by 11am, even though we had booked a late 12pm checkout as he wasn't getting picked up in the wedding car until 12pm. She refused to allow this to happen, bearing in mind this is the night before our wedding and I was dealing with it from our wedding venue down the road. And even though she had messed up on the money side, she made resolving this as difficult as possible. She charged us an extra £20 for 1 hour. She was a rude, nasty women who only caused myself and my fiance problems the night before our wedding. When the videographers arrived, she was again difficult asking them to sign stupid non legal forms. No idea on how to deal with customers. She was a nightmare and we had a number of character witnesses who said the same thing. Never will we stay there again, due to this new owner who made the night before our wedding difficult.
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely location. Dog friendly
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food is simply spectacular, the location stunning, our room and especially the bathroom superb. Personally I found the whole stay was faultless
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was leaving
7.1 Good
Pros: Towels; dinner; staff extremely good;
Cons: Very Limited toiletries; roll top bath with claw feet slippery and difficult to get in and out and no curtain for handheld shower; uncomfortable seating in bedroom; our friend could not turn on shower over bath; continental breakfast variety limited
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location, staff very pleasant. Food was good until 20% added. Think they should make this clearer so people are aware of additional cost.
Cons: We were charged 20% tax on top of our meal and drinks on the menu prices. The food prices were good until the extra 20% was added. Told manager radiator in room not working and room was cold, it wasn't fixed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super-friendly. The quality, presentation and taste of the food was excellent. (However, the size of the portions was a little too large and we didn't have room to sample dessert).
Cons: Our only criticism was that despite pulling the shower curtain around the roll-top bath, a significant amount of water leaked from the back of the bath when we turned the shower on.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, welcoming staff and very good food.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Home made gin
Cons: Nothing friendly staff there to help with any problems which we had none felt very much at home thanks to the warm welcoming and friendliness of the staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good food
Cons: Breakfast could be a bit earlier. But this is always a problem when staying in pubs, as they have to stay open late the previous night.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff friendly, food very good.
Cons: Rooms need refurb
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff very pleasant one helpful, breakfast enjoyable.
Cons: Property very dated and in need of revamp. Bedroom extremely small. Carpet on stairway extremely worn.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely. Would stay there again.
Cons: Evening meals: Slow cooked shoulder of lamb was too dried out/rare steak was cooked medium (not charged for). The area around the bin in the dining room smells and has food splashed up the wall.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good as was the service of the staff, very attentive, friendly and catered for all we asked for.
Cons: A long trek to the top floor as there are no lifts. The decor on the staircases (especially the carpets) were very old, worn and stained which gave off a not too pleasant smell, if this was put right it would massively make a big difference. The tea & coffee making facilities were good but where they were situated on the window sill did not have a plug for the kettle.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing the Foresters Arms is the dirtiest place we have ever stayed and should not be on any booking site. If any where else had any vacancies we would have left. Extremely loud entertainment going on until midnight.
Cons: As already stated the place was filthy, dirty stained carpets, rickety old furniture in the bedroom. I can't describe how bad it is, and would definitely NOT recommend staying there to any one.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location, friendliness of staff, comfortable bed
Cons: Really run down and not very clean, room extremely small and dirtyl, one socket in room near door and on a wooden board! Carpets in room and stairs filthy and worn

Pros: Very welcoming hosts. Bedrooms clean, well equipped and exceedingly comfortable beds!! Good menu choice for a tasty breakfast and comfortable friendly atmosphere. Liked it so much we have booked another stay!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Richard was very welcoming, and was happen to show me the room and Sky Movies etc. etc. - i.e. an excellent host. Clean, tidy, good breakfast and just what you need for a night stop over.
Cons: The pressure in the shower was not that strong.
6.0 Good
Pros: Could not fault Richard and the team - the friendliest service I've ever had from a B&B! The breakfast was excellent - a good variety of cooked options as well as the standard cereal, yoghurt and fruit, plus a good selection of teas. I had the single room which faces the back for the B&B - it was very clean and I certainly got a good night's sleep. Very close to the centre of town and right opposite the bus station, with the train station less than a 10 minute walk. Perfectly situated and well priced for what it is.
Cons: It is hard to ascertain just how small the single room is prior to arriving - the only pictures available are those from previous guests and information from reviews is limited. It is in need of a bit of TLC as some of the wallpaper is peeling. If I came back I would not book the single room as I prefer a larger room to move in - that said it did what it said on the tin and I still got a good night's sleep. The common areas, particularly the stairwells, need some attention where the walls and fixtures have been knocked by lugging suitcases up and down the stairs but this is minor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for the town. Lovely friendly welcome. Good breakfast
Cons: Everything was fine. No dislikes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff very friendly clean and cosy hotel plus great value for money
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I am a solo female traveller and I always love visiting The Unicorn as I feel very safe there. In addition, the breakfasts are excellent with a wide selection of food and drinks available; the rooms are wonderfully comfortable and have everything that I could possibly need and the staff are all friendly, efficient and helpful. The Unicorn is situated just over the road from the bus station and literally just around the corner from the High Street with its shops, a street market on four days of the week, numerous cafes, restaurants & bars and at the top a Castle. It is also just a short walk away from the canal where there are boat trips available. The Unicorn is a real gem and I'm so glad that I found it!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful management, good breakfast, easy parking.
Cons: Stairs are hard work, manouvering through fire doors with luggage, though they offer help
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Aged but sturdy and full of character. Service was generous, welcoming & efficient.
Cons: Local late venue playing music, which goes with the territory, but that drummer really wasn’t as good as he thought he was.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The Unicorn Hotel was very welcoming and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. We liked the relaxed atmosphere of the place. The location was superb, only a few minutes from town with easy but safe access to the building at night. The freshly cooked breakfast was lovely. Richard even forwarded on my daughters teddy which we had left in the room.
Cons: The room itself could do with a bit of redecoration.

Pros: Everything was so nice, everyone was friendly
Cons: Nothing
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Excellent location. Good TV. Nice tray with drinks and biscuits.
Cons: Room 8. Very small. Lots of noise from pub downstairs until 1 am on a Saturday night. The whole corridor stunk of oil from a deep fat fryer at meal times. Door to shower opened so little that I could only get into the shower sideways. I'm a size 18. Anyone bigger than me might not get in at all. It's both humiliating and dangerous. Why not just have a shower curtain? Breakfast OK, but please make a decent pot of coffee or tea for your customers.

Pros: In middle of Town
Cons: Nothing
