The Gleneagles Guesthouse offers 4-star rooms with free high speed Wi-Fi and panoramic sea views. The guest house overlooks the Cliff Gardens, and is only a 5-minute walk from Southend Pier. The bright and spacious bedrooms each have a TV and an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer. All rooms feature tea/coffee facilities and some have wonderful sea views. Guests can enjoy a hearty full English breakfast with produce from local butchers and bakers, while lighter options are also available. In season there is a coffee shop which serves light lunches and indulgent cakes from a large garden terrace overlooking the sea. Gleneagles Guest House is a Grade II listed building within Southend’s tranquil conservation area and until 2001 it operated as a hotel. There is free public parking outside the property and on adjacent roads. The High Street, seafront and Adventure Island are just a 5-minute walk away.
The central heating didn't work. I was welcomed by a confused say 15 year old boy. there was a birthday party of the 13 year old daughter in the residents lounge. I didn;t get the seaview room I boooked. they didn;t eeven have my on line booking. In fact there was not on redeeming facot.
I did not like the size of the room it was far to small is my knees were touching the shower when sat on the loo. The drains needed sorted as this caused my room to smell and it was far to cold.
friendly staff. was made welcome.
The historic significance and the hotel's representation of all that is good and traditional about English "superior guest-house" hospitality.
I seriously cannot think of any.
friendly helpful, clean and tidy value for money
Polite staff and good breakfast.
The room was comfy, spacious and lovely decor, view of sea was lovely to wake up to
Nothing at all
slept as i was working localy
The room was a sea view room and very large, bedroom and bathroom very clean, very very close to southend pier and amusements and to the town centre itself
bed was hard but that is a personal prefernce and not one that should be held accountable towards the hotel, the noise from the floorboards from the room above was rather loud both in the night and in the morning so not one for the light sleeper
