The location, a short walk from the airport terminal. Very convenient. The room, the quiet. The staff was very helpful. The swimming pool closing at 07.30 PM. also, the hotel was a bit pricey.
Friendly staff, clean room, just next to terminal building (2 min walk), quick check-in and check-out.
Reasonably sized room. Comfortable bed. Clean with one noteable exception. Airport accessible via covered walkway - 2 or 3 minutes at most. Broken glass on bathroom floor. Food and drinks a little pricey. Compulsory service charge for waiter service in main bar area.
Proximity to airport was very useful and check out as well as car collection service were both good The carpet in room and corridor were not as clean as they could have been. Check-in was very slow!
the location as it serves the airport very well. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very helpful. The cost of drinks and meals. I with many others leave the hotel and eat and socialise in the airport. If the food and drink bill was less then people would be more likely to stay and eat on the premises. I even know people who avoid the hotel because of the cost
Spacious room and comfortable bed. Walking distance from the airport.
The minibar was stocked
I had only one night at the Radisson Blu but it was great. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was memorable - unusual, creative dishes. My room was, for me, very spacious and luxurious. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and had a wonderful assortment including fresh fruit salad, which is a rarity indeed. I had time to use the heated swimming pool.and enjoyed it very much. Then a quick but tasty lunch in the bar before departure. All the staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated a late check out as well as a concierge facility that allowed me to leave a large suitcase both at no additional charge. I didn't mind paying for the excellent facilities and service. Well worth it.
Easy access to the airport... Price.
The hotel's position close to the airport terminal. The comfortable room. One of the eating places ('Paella' or the like) was advertised in the room and in the lifts, but was closed "for the season".
The room was great. Mattress was super comfortable. Location was also great as we were staying because of a layover. Breakfast buffet was also the best I have ever had. Food prices at restaurant were a little pricey for what was offered. Room smelled a little of smoke. Suggestion: perhaps offer complimentary water bottles in rooms?
The hotel is new and very clean and has all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. There was no family room and so I had to take two rooms with a connecting door for a family of four.
The room was great, very confortable and tidy. Breakfast could've had more variety.
relative close location to STN n.a.
It was convenient The check-in clerk was surly and offhand, and was ignorant. She also vaguely pointed in the wrong direction for the elevator/lift. A later desk clerk who entered my Priority Club number was very helpful.
Surprised that they did not offer early morning breakfast pack in the room especailly as they are at an airport. Cheaper hotels do. Also what happened to the travel bag hooks at reception?
bar staff - really caring and giving a chocolate bar to our baby girl whihc was a nice gesture the food served in thehotel restaurant - the dinner - the food was cold and a siz e of portion misearble
everything I would like somebody to speak other languages. spanish for exemple
Pretty good value for the price, the hotel is very clean and quiet, the location for connecting flights is perfect, the transfer to the airport is well-organized. The price for the transfer was quite high
The hotel is very near to Stansted airport. There is a hotel shuttle at the airport. After 13 hours of long flight and reached UK at 8pm, it is very convenient to stay at the nearest hotel as it is only 5 minutes from the airport with comfortable and clean room.
nice facilities, room on good condition, staff are very helpful there should be wireless connection available inside the room, so that we dont't have to come down at the lobby for longer period (very cold)
Bed comfortable Room far too warm when i arrived and in order to cool down the airconditioning had to be left on all night and it was noisy therefore could not sleep.
Express check in was easy. Room was very clean, loved the extra pillows and helpful sleeping tips. Perfect for short stay. Also loved the shampoo installed in bathroom so I didn't have to unpack my stuff! Bathroom was a little like a hospital but that's also to say it was very clean, not really a problem. Also dialed down to reception and didn't get an answer, at 1am, but note says 24 hour reception.
Good bed and linnen was probably the best feature of the hotel. The hotel is in need of deep renovation. Especially the bathroom was in a bad condition and only 2 star.
The courteous, efficient, competent staff-- "service- oriented," how refreshing!! Very professional staff. Not a thing! Look forward to my next visit. Best place to stay for London Stansted!
Very friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room. Good price. Convenient for Stansted Airport.
no Sky Sports in room, infrequent transfers
very comfortable bed
Rooms - too small Breakfast - too expensive for the quality
Checked in 2a.m. left 6a.m Very disappointed to get a room with two twin beds. To late in the night to argue. Price for the room was very hig versus accomidation.
The staff was amazing! Very accomidating to our every need!
Near the Airport Had to pay for the shuttle bus to and from the airport, should be free service. Rooms not as nice as other Hilton hotels.
At four stars- you would hope for everything better. The rooms are out of date and unclean. Shabby with wprn down wood, very dusty air vents and bad beds
We only stayed for one night. Left early in the morning! The bed was ok!
The gym, the bar
very english style
Friendly welcome, including a pot of tea! Spotless accomodation, with thoughtfully decorated rooms. Delicious breakfast...just wish I could have tasted more of those home made jams and marmalades!! Would stay again!
Very nice and clean room. Easy to find a place to eat. Located nearby Stansted Airport. No
warm welcome and friendliness of owners. v comfortable lounge and good selection of magazines. Excellent breakfast with range of homemade jams and marmalades. no
Quiet, quaint village for being so close to Stansted airport. Wide range of eating and drinking establishments and shops all within walking distance of this homely and lovely hotel, wish we could have stayed longer than overnight.
A delightful visit hosted by a wonderful couple with an opportunity to explore a small village north of london near Stansted Airport. easy train ride to Estate at Audley End & Cambridge.
Charming, extremely well-kept hotel. Excellent English breakfast, with other choices also. Very fresh fruit salad. The kind and helpful owners use fair trade food sources whenever possible and also organic (bio) foods. Good choice for Stansted Airport stopover. No.
Friendly and helpful owners, warm welcome with some very nice touches (including chocolate biscuits!) The guests lounge was clean and pleasant , but lacked a focus(i.e Tv ,real fire etc). Room rate seemed a little high for a guest house ,,,,albeit a top quality guest house.
loved the oldness of it all and inc village and friendliness of hosts no
Very friendly and comfortable. Home from Home. Excellent location in a typical English village with good pubs and restaurants very close to Stansted airport and the M11 - but very quiet
the driving to the airport was very nice offer.even if the plains were neare, one could not hear them so much.
quiet location, comfortable room, friendly helpful staff the room was not clean. Rubbish from former inhabitant, stains, dust. (room 23)
my room was really big and comfortable the shuttle price is GBP 3,50 so each time you want to leave the hotel you have to use the shuttle as it is a bit far from the airport and any town,in 2 days i spent GBP 14,00 on the shuttle.a bit too expensive
Location, easy accsess to rooms, transport to stanstead airport mould in the kettle, driver not coming to work to pick us from the airport, had to take taxi, beds uncomfortable,tv channels poor,tv too small
Nice Indian food. New-painted. Close to airport. Big room and bathroom. Not long waiting for pick-up in the airport. The waiter seemed impatient when we asked for some advice for food and drink - and we got the wrong menucard - we could not choose from all menues. Nothing to read. Not many TV-stations. No possibility for pastime/shopping. Transfer to airport not free (and when I phoned from the airport, the lady was impatient because it was difficult to understand her in the telephone). Early breakfast very boring - only one sort of marmelade and toast. Too much noice from the area outside the door when people pass.
The staff were freindly and polite.
Carpet in room slightly dirty however the carpet was White so a few marks to be expected
Rooms were large and clean and the staff was great. On site restaruant served a variety of good food.
We stayed as a party of 10 in 4 rooms, cochroaches were found in 2 of the rooms and the hotel smelt and the rooms were dirty. I would not recommend this hotel
standard of rooms, food, car parking and airport transfer. no.
the pick up service from the airport was exellent and v nice owners the hotel was in a pleasant leafy area and the room was comfortable with tv and very hot water and kettle etc. the downside was the terrible aircraft noise & no double glazing - planes every hour all night long and every 15 minutes from 6 am& a very hard bed indeed - rock hard.A strange breakfast affair with all manner of sweet goods still in packets and wrappers in a breakfast room with self service and kettle and crockery
Hotel wrote we must call from airport , and they will close 11pm. I arrived 10pm, I called 4times till 10:40, but never picked up phone even mobile phone number. I had to take taxi because they strictly said they close 11pm. When I arrive hotel, I complain that, he said ' why I didn't notice ringing phone ?? I don't know ,, I don't know ' like that. Hotel fee was included transportation ,but he didn't pay back also asked me normal price.
I was travelling from Stanstead Airport, however too far for me, however the owner was excellent, great location for the aiarport and good value.
It was ideal for what we wanted, to be near Stansted airport for an early morning flight the next day. We arrived at Stansted airport after having been in London all day and rang the contact number to arrange the free transfer. The man arrived on the hour as stated and took us straight to the Guest house. He was very pleasant and efficient. The room was clean and bright with complimentary tea and coffee. As we were leaving too early for the free transfer back to the airport he arranged a taxi to pick us up the next morning at 4.30 and it arrived 5 mins early!!!!! Fantastic location, room, value for money and service.
Friendly& helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Good facilities and service. Would recommend
it was everything we needed.very quiet.good to leave car there while abroad.excellent transfer to and from airport.very good value.
size of room, convenience of location from airport
Problems to find it during the way from Stanstead airport. Address in the log is wrong.
Nothing close by for meals except for a pub about 20 mins away
Reliable timing of transfer to airport. Room was comfortable, ensuite. Be aware of the 11:00 closing time especially if delayed in traffic!
Airport pickup and drop of service was very helpful Self service breakfast lacked choice and fresh foods e.g fruit
Character of building, and proximity to airport
Some upgrading done and to good standard. Friendly owner with plans for the hotel. Not all rooms, including ours , have yet been upgraded
Staff was nice and helpful
Quaint and peaceful surroundings Could not open the bathroom door fully - the bed partially in the way and the curtains were partially hanging off the curtain rail and no wardrobe in our room.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It is a quaint family hotel. The hotel needs to be updated. The restaurant area is delightful but the rooms need a facelift and new beds.
Nothing The bar and restaurant was closed due to a private function and this hotel is miles from the next restaurant. I was not informed of this in time to change my plan.
The bar was open till very late The price of an irish coffee
nice grade 2 building, wonderfull setting close to river, great food, nice staff - helpfull small rooms, only 3 hooks place clothing no locker etc.
Quaint converted water mill on the river and next to a boat marina in a village location. Nice walks, good views from top rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Were flexible with my booking when I had to change. Good beer in the bar and good homely food served in comfortable surroundings. Value for money within 15 minutes drive of Stansted airport without the aircraft noise. Not like a faceless chain hotel and ideal for families - young children will like the mill gear and the boats. Arrive early and explore. In our triple room the en suite was basically a cupboard - a bit like a toilet and shower in a caravan!
The hotel was in a very charming location. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful n/a
Extremely convenient location as we were visiting family in the area. Very quiet and comfortable accommodation.
family atmosphere no
From the initial email from Paola advising how to get there ,the welcome and advice on where to eat etc.Fantastic breakfast and overall very very pleasant stay!
Good welcome, nice room, nice outlook.
Friendly welcome even though it was late night arrival. Nice family feeling as the rooms are almost attached to a family home.breakfast was impressive, (continental only) No DVD player as advertised
The hotel is located close to Stansted airport BUT... DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL or DeSalis. I have given fair (good) reviews to most of the hotels where I have stayed in the past. My reviews can be seen in Agoda, Booking, Kayak and I am a Platinum member with Marriott hotels. What did I not like about this hotel? I encountered the rudest and most disrespectful staff I've ever dealt with. As soon as I walked in the guy at the front desk yelled at my girlfriend and I for leaving the car parked (momentarily) in the only area available (we did this to confirm that we had a room before unloading our suitcases) If you're driving, bear in mind that the hotel has two decent parking spots, otherwise you'll end up leaving your car in the back of the building which seems dark and unsafe. The guy then said that he didn't see our reservation and sent us to a DIFFERENT HOTEL without even apologizing for the ordeal. The new hotel was called DeSalis and it was OK at first sight but we were given a nasty and old room in the back of the building. The room smelled like and old and humid warehouse. The bed was uncomfortable and you had to hold the shower with one hand as it wasn't attached to the wall. Further, we were told the restaurant closed at 11pm but we showed up at 10.35pm and they said that the kitchen was closed. Bear in mind that the closest restaurant is 15 minutes away from DeSalis. Outcome? We ate chips and drank cheap wine at 11.30pm in our nasty and uncomfortable room after driving 4 hours from Manchester. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had not with one but two hotels. I am sure other people have enjoyed their stays but I hope you guys keep in mind my comments if you want to avoid being THAT couple that doesn't their last night in such a lovely country! I want to leave on a good note so I will once again mention that both hotels are less than 8 minutes away from the aiport.
Proximity to Stansted Airport. Nothing. It's basically a comfortable room for a night.
Setting of hotel, cleanliness, impressive entrance of hotel, has a smart chic style Shower curtains bit tacky and cheap looking compared to rest of hotel, slightly grubby
it was close to the airport we have been charged for the shuttle, and nothing was advertise about it normally the shuttle comes free. on top of that the driver was late in the morning
In expensive, clean room etc. Did not get a wake up call as requested and did not get a separate taxi booked as expected which meant I was nearly late for mt meeting.
early breakfast, transport to airport very prompt Even though on the main road, directions to hotel very limited
Convenient for airport, comfortable and clean.
Staff was very kind and helpful. The park in the back looked awful and needed care.
The staff were very nice. The hotel is very basic which is not a criticism just a fact and this is reflected in the budget price.
Excellent that it had parking included and a shuttle service in the early hours of the morning. Much less hassle than waiting for a taxi. The room was clean and was more than adequate for our overnight stay. The fact that self-service breakfast was waiting from 4am meant we could have a quick bite to eat before leaving for the airport at 5am. No real bad points. Some hooks and a towel rail in the en-suite bathroom would have been nice as there was no-where to hang a towel or night clothes. No shelves either for toiletries. A hair dryer in the room would have been an advantage, but not essential.
Nothing special. A bit dirty. Had to have the window open because it was so hot, but when i got there the window was already open. I would consider staying again.
Great, cheap and located near the airport !
Very nice hotel for some one stay overnight in Stansted Airport area and want to have a sniff of the English Landlord era.A walk through the hotel and garden is already relaxing before having a drink in the comfortable bar. Helpfull staff . Taxi from Stansted 21 gbp
Grounds and building are beautiful, very peaceful. The perfect weekend retreat. Some of the furnishings looked a little worn
The very relaxed atmosphere and the good service Bar prices are over priced even by central London standards where I live
The staff is very friendly, the food and accomodation is excellent and the surroundings are beautiful.
Too far away from anything
Good location for Stansted and still quiet at night.
We liked the history of the hotel and the extreme confort of the hotel, it was a wonderful break feeling like we were in our own bubble for the weekend. We thought the wedding exhibition on in the morning made things a little hectic and the wedding guests in the restuarant also detracted from our relaxed morning.
The bed in the room was of a very high class. It enabled us to sleep soundly for a refreshing start to the following day. Downs Hall is a period hotel with some astounding features. Visitors still require modern bathroom/shower facilities in their rooms. Downs Hall was lacking in this department.
Comfortable room and dinner was good There is no lift to the 2nd floor (or certainly not that I was told about or directed to); the stair carpet between floors 1 and 2 is v worn; it was rather warm/stuffy in corridors; there is no quick route to car park, guests must walk out of the front and round the Hall to the back for the car park.
Very professional, courteous staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, room service was very good. Wonderful location. There was no lift to our room - but on a positive note the staff were happy to carry our bags up and down the stairs.
The attention to detail was impeccable. A lot of thought had gone into providing the "little things" that make a big difference.
The staff were very welcoming. very clean and beautiful scenery. Felt very relaxed.
very comfortable, owners friendly and helpful. Family of 5 able to fit in one room which is very rare. Excellent idea for self service buffet breakfast especially when you have early flight. No except hard to find in the dark.
Friendly welcome and the rich serve-your-self breakfast
Very comfortable, wonderful landlady, will certainly use again.
Cleanliness and location Cold water supply seemed to be supplied by outdoor tank, the temprature being subject to whatever the weather at the time, as it was 30c the nice cool shower I was looking forward to after a very hot day was a little disapointing.
Melvyn greeted me and spent time showing me around - it is fantastic!. We loved the 'diner' based on Ace Cafe - loved the details, great that we could help ourselves to breakfast - loved the flexibility - the fact we could bring our own food and cook. We loved looking around the cars. We will be back to try out another room and hire a car for the day. It was perfect! There is nothing we didn't like about our stay - we had the place to ourselves (which was perfect) but wondered how it might have worked out if it had been full.
Splendid! Splendid! Splendid! This is the most fascinating place to stay at! If you love beautiful surroundings, comfort, extraordinary attention to detail in everything and fabulous cars then this is the place for you! Would my husband and I stay here again? Like a shot we would! Thank you Pit-Stop! Absolutely no complaints!
Very quirky hotel, loved the kitchen/diner, my husband and 11 year old grandson loved the sportscars, None
We liked everything at the Pit Stop. Good, off street parking. Very good hosts. Excellent accommodation and very good Breakfast food. The Pit Stop deserves to be included in anyone's holiday itinerary. It is more than a B&B and it is of a very high standard. The American DIner is wonderful and don't let the self service breakfast put you off from staying here Melvyn and Sindy have everything you need in their diner to feed hungry guests. Not only do you get to stay in luxury accommodation for a reasonable cost you also get to look around the beautiful cars stored there. The Pit Stop B&B is near enough London and next to Standsted Airport. Car enthusiasts should make sure to stay here and even if you do not have a passion for cars, like my w
The generous size of the room. The theme/decor was fantastic. The justly proud, friendly and casual yet reassuring style of the management was welcoming. The self help, excellent choice and well presented food/style for breakfast was above expectations. The diner, (as well as our room), is stunning.
Quirky ! Extremely well done! Lack of Digital TV (Free View) and Wireless broadband
Very warm welcome from Melvin, fantastic design in the rooms ans the kitchen. If you go in the vicinity, don't miss it! Be aware the Stansted airport is nearby. If you're looking for the perfect silence, it might be a problem
Nothing the bed location room
Good and relaxed. Room size ideal. Facilities adequate. comfortable The shower pressure was low. The view through the window was not ideal.
Very close at the airport Should be nice to have a smile
Room was very clean. Free transport to Stansted Airport. Walls were a little thin. Could hear our next-door neighbor.
the bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to keep me warm due to the cold weather. The shower's hot water did not last long enough and there was no pressure. The heating did not work too well but good thing there were blankets
nothing It's a poorly done B&B. It's a cheap extension of the owner house. It was very cold, awful beddings, the outside way to the room not practical at all, nothing around the B&B (the only and closest pub is at 10min walking from it on a pitch dark main road!), the owner not friendly at all, squiky beds, the self catering section only included 3 tea bags! and the mugs were all stained.
Cheap room, close to the airport. Very easy to get there by cab. Simply arrange your transport at the airport. Extra fee of EUR 10 for CreditCard payment.
Shower never worked and having to get an early flight that and a bed was the most importatnt.???
Very Comfortable bed and warm! Would have liked access to (free) phone in the orning before leaving
The dog and the cat are friendly. No free transfer if you don't request it 24 h before the date you arrive. The day before is no good, then 10 gbp taxi from the airport and 10 gbp back. If for some reason you arrive before 17:00 you will stand in the cold outside, even if they are inside and see you waiting. The birds sounded like large airplanes to me. Insane fees for anything (2 gbp for one egg, 3 gbp for wifi...). For dinner the boss tells you to walk to the nearest pub on that insanely dangerous no lights no sidewalks country road with some night traffic. Those people don't belong in the hostelry business.
