The staff was great, the place was very nice. The place will be even better after the new building is finished.
Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. Entrance was under construction for a grand open of new hotel building. Location of hotel could not offer a great view.
It was great that really every evening it is possible to meet somebody in the bar having party.
Very quite except from the people that were standing smoking outside. Breakfast was very good I had to wait almost 30 minutes before I was able to check in (time:01.00) only 2 working persons in night in a hotel with 100+ rooms?
very nice relaxed atmosphere, excelllent dinner ----
Nice place and clean room, quiet. Good location near the fjord. Huge breakfast with lot of choice. Jj Bed little bit too small.
Beautiful location, particularly the rooms with a lake view, An excellent place for relaxation and a good night's sleep. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere
Room with view to lake (or is it fjord ?), room with balcony, around peaceful and quiet and in the middle of nature.
Very nice hotel with view over adjacent lake and countryside, with many attractions in the area. Very relaxing.
Great location, the staff was very kind. And the food was just perfect. I will certainly come back again to norway, and perhaps even to Tyriford Hotel.
Very nice location on Tyrifjord, spacious and comfortable, good service. Good restaurant service at reasonable prices, and food available at convenient times. Loved watching the ducks come in in the evening. Very convenient to Krøderbanen which provided a great day's outing. Hotel's website says they charge NOK125 for 24 hours of wi-fi access, but in fact they were able to supply this service free of charge. Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Breakfast was good. Old stinking rooms.
Beautiful location. Rooms were very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Tight spaces driving in but we always found parking.
staff was amazing. the views are amazing. It is far from the airport. Probably have to pay $200 with taxi to get there but worth the money.
It had a good location, handy for shops and transport links at local bus and train stations. The reception staff were very helpful. More variety for cooked breakfast.
Proximity to business district in Sandvika Windows opened to inner atrium of hotel - claustrophobic and airless - much prefer windows to outside of any building. Facilities good but a steam iron in room would be much preferable and more effective than a hot iron - also it was awkward with too short a cord threaded through ironing board. Who ( I ask ) is really going to steal an iron?? The room coffee maker had no operator instructions in English and I had no enjoyable coffee among several attempts - too much technology not enough basic good facility like a kettle and sachets of coffee. This technology glitch extended to the restaurant facility 2 mornings out of 3 when the coffee machine failed and I had to miss coffee again.
The foyer is amazing, very attractive, and the facilities generally are very nice. We found the staff helpful and pleasant. The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the breakfast in the morning. There is a lovely walk from the hotel down around the bay and up into the town. The hotel is also incredibly close to what we were told was, the largest shopping mall in Scandinavia. It was about 10klm from the centre of Oslo and about 80 from Oslo Torp airport. Transport from the airport to the hotel and vice versa was very expensive. There are only 2 computers that are available for access which meant it was often difficult to find one to use, and when you were on you were frequently harrassed by other people.
A person who I was meeting with, was arriving late & I was able to arrange some food to be in his room when he arrived. (Past resteraunt closing time)
First experience is with the receptionist who was very rude insisting I had not paid for both nights. I actually did not stay there, but had a friend from Germany, and this was handled in such a way that is caused much embarrasement for me and my guest. Will not choose Thon hotel in the future when my friend comes next month.
very good breakfast and good location the room was too hot!!!! we hurry out as soon as possible. next time we deffenently want a room with a window........
Everyone was nice and especially the breakfast staff. The hotel is also very quiet and very peacefull for late and lazy mornings.
Very comfortable bed. Spacious room. Friendly helpful staff Poor (temporary) breakfast facilities
there is an amazing island nearby it's in between several noisy motorways.
Being a 200 year old hotel, it was not difficult to see how it was "Grand" in its day. It was a nice and special stay. No complaints. Would certainly recommend it.
Expections where not very high after reading recommendations on Booking. Beds and location OK! Hotel needs a lot of TLC (Tender Love and Care). Don't expect to much and you get it!
Nice old-fasioned hotel, helpful fellow at the reception, breakfast O'K. My mother was very dissapointed by a water stoppage at the bathroom.
Good hotel in that price
Good check-in, ok breakfast, hotel was central in town, close to shops, restaurants, cinema. No shampoo in toilet, on request no shampoo was given. No water glass or plastic cup in toilet. Low lighting in ceiling in toilet. One lamp was broken in toilet. During shower too much water flowed past toilet and all the way to the sink.
Well located in the centre of the town, no noise to disturb you at night.
We liked the location, which split a long train journey. The hotel was fine, though not really a destination hotel. It gave us a chance to see Honefoss, which should not be called "Chicken Falls" around the locals. Staff was extremely helpful. Good breakfast, but avoid the sour yogurt. Pretty basic. Not exactly the cleanest place on earth. Not dirty, but not thoroughly cleaned. Just a bit of a dated place.
