The hotel was reasonably priced and the staff very helpful and attentive at all times. Room quality was also good.
Quality of evening meal was poor and did not represent particularly good value for money. Quality has dropped significantly since our last visit. Head of restaurant was patronising and disinterested (not the waitresses - they were excellent) which is odd considering the number of complaints we overheard him receiving! Also prices of drinks at the bar were, in some cases, extortionate.
The room was bright, shower excellent.
Public areas were cold, couldn't stay in bar because it was so cold. Restaurant meal was over priced - mine was too big my husband's ridiculously small - served large and small wine in two glasses of equal quantity but different shapes. Breakfast poor, limited.
every thing about the stay at the hotel was first class
Lovely rural location within easy reach of the NEC.
A genuinely farm-rural location, but along a smooth well-surfaced road past the farm. Only 10 minutes at most from main roads, fulfilling our need for an easy drive to the N.E.C. Birmingham's car park and adjacent Airport (25mins, non-motorway roads). Well furnished and clean, annexe room was spacious and quiet, looking in on courtyard. Restaurant standards at dinner and breakfast (menu, service, food presentation and quality) very good.
Outside, and rooms especially SE or SW-facing are easily within the mile-distant M42 traffic, constant traffic noise could be objectionable (but access from same road via J9 is fairly easy!). Presence of marquee indicates events such as wedding receptions could co-incide with your stay. No air-con in annexe room used, nor was a lift to upstairs rooms seen. No other places like shop or pub seen in the vicinity. No major grumbles, to be honest, unless these factors are important to a specific customer. You choose this location because of its rural location, and a good quality stay on-site.
Location, cleanliness of the rooms and hotel
The Reception staff were so bad! When the hotel was practically empty they put me in a room next to where there were going to b discos two nights running when I had mentioned in my booking that I had heard about this problem and wanted a very quiet room. They could so easily have done that! Also they did not have on their computer the correct info about the 4 night package I was doing and so there was a fuss about 'overcharging', luckily I had a copy of my booking form.... Someone was going to help me with my luggage to change rooms, up and down stairs, they did not bother to turn up. This is a hotel that mainly relies on Weddings, and other guests are treated very poorly.
Useful location for my work in North and East Birmingham
Restaurant meal was well presented but rather bland in taste on my first night. In contrast my room service meal the following night was excellent. Restaurant staff need to learn to leave the customer while they study the menu rather than 'hovering around' waiting for the order.
friendly, informative and helpful staff, lovely location, fascinating history.
Location next to a canal.
The food was below expectation.
