We only stayed one night, but found the staff and the atmosphere excellent. The carvery meal in the restaurant there was excellent and is thoroughly recommended.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Didn't like the small bath towels.
Great value for money, especially if you are a golfer.
the staff were very helpful and the place was beautiful
friendly helpful staff cleanliness peaceful environment pleasant surroundings No
The spacious and comfortable superior conservatory room with lovely complimentary Cadbury treats. The buffet breakfast was tasty with a decent range to choose from. Prompt and friendly service from all staff throughout.
The whole experience was amazing felt totally relaxed
generally good no issues
I like the surrounding grounds and it has a quintessential appeal about its artichect and surround. the mattress was little too firm for personal taste but I slept well nontheless
Food, Service, staff, quality of facilities Table clothe at breakfast was not clean and the shower head in our bathroom directed the water too close tot eh taps.
The staff were very friendly and happy to help with any requests. The hotel is in beautiful grounds and the room was very comfortable. Great choice of options for breakfast. No
Friendly staff, beautiful location, excellent food No tissues in Bathroom!
All the staff were most welcoming and efficient. The restaurant was first class and again the service was superb. The rooms were delightful.
Given wrong room to start it was a downgrade! Complained and waited half an hour for duty manager to arrive. he couldn't offer the room we booked as all were full. had to settle for downgraded room BUT the hotel paid for dinner as compensation. Staff too young and inexperienced which is a shame as the hotel has a nice ambiance see aboive review
Our stay was great if we ignore the fact that we had a view of a brickwall and not the courtyard. Also I found some sort of pill (not a paracetomol) on one of the chairs in our room, luckily we didn't take our 1 year old daughter with us. When handed in to reception we had no apology whatsoever.. WE got a good price with this website and despite the above we would stay here again. It was very relaxing. Food (breakfast), although on the dear side, was tasty and more filling than it looked.
The beautiful location, friendly helpful staff, beautiful building and luxury room. Food was really outstanding, room service quick and as good a restaurant, well priced too. Very nice breakfast selection, served quickly and tasted freshly cooked. Nice pool and spa. Information in room for facilities etc was being updated during my stay which was disappointing but reception staff were very helpful with queries.
The grounds are beautiful and it was a pleasant surprise to have a separate living room and bedroom in the suite. The reception staff were not as welcoming and friendly as I have experienced in hotels of equal quality.
surrondings thought the bathrooms needed refurbishing
The facilities provided were of a very good standard, the surroundings very relaxing and picturesque. Staff members were very professional.
A great welcome from Maddy, who was very charming and helpful. The room was lovely and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and we were sorry that we could only stay one night. We would definitely stay here again. we werent mad about the colour scheme in the room (greenish) but that was a little detail in the overall stay
The comfortable bed and the cleanliness of the hotel and eating areas.
Everything, food, staff, facilities etc - all were high standard, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
location, cleanliness, fitness club did not cater to families even as far as no 'kids menu' in restaurant. Little for kids to see or do - pool restrictions. No rental movies etc
Rooms were very nice. Although very crowded in dining room, breakfast was very good Pool and spa area too busy to relax in. Also only had one pillow each instead of two
Room clean and tidy and also very quiet.Good buffet breakfast
The use of the suana and pool
It was very refreshing to be treated with courtesy and respect rather than being viewed as a nuisance
The staff were pleasant and courteous, especially the reception. The food was prepared and presented well. The hotel as a whole had a relaxing atmosphere and would definitely choose again if in that part of the country. Only one thing and that was the room was a bit too chilly.
everything we wanted for a break was all on site, even the golf course! the tea, coffee and milk in our room was out of date
Some of the most friendly and helpful staff I have encountered. The spa was fantastic, beautiful and relaxing.
Room was dark and dirty, matted ball of hair on window pane( which faced another room, no natural light) awful room lighting, i asked for more lights and they did nothing to help.shower had no hot water and water poured out from a crack all over the bathroom floor and the t.v did not work unless you fiddled with the exposed wires!! the only reason i stay in this hotel is the location to workplace. This hotel needs a very huge renovation.
Housekeeping did their best given what they had to work with. No internet in rooms-barely functioning in lobby.
I have nothing good to say about the experience except that the restaurant staff were friendly. It took 300 minutes of queuing to get a key and a further three ascents / further quesuing to get into the room as the magnetic strips did not work. Arrived early to be greeted simply with "You can't check in here" - no welcome or greeting. the most appalling service I have ever experienced in a city centre hotel, and for the price entirely unacceptable. Surly reception staff, overwhelmed by long queues and too few computers. Poor rooms small, dark, - wall paper peeling; paint rubbed off in bathroom
the only thing good about this hotel was the guy that night on the reception he was shaking from the stress ,but we got dealy with ,and then the day after we were un happy again as my room had bee re booked to some one esle and i was sent to a yob hostel to put in polite where i had to share a lift with a skin head gross
great location for shopping etc and near station no staff about at breakfast no tables cleared to sit at when one did appear they still did not seem on top of the job. lunchtime in bar was short staffed one person behind bar doing everything not enough seats.
Hotel room was tiny, also walls and carpet were dirty. funny smell in hallsway and lift. Bar staff were very rude.
The hot bath/shower The facilities are old and out of date. It is a Victorian type of hotel but the maintenance to this standard has not been effected at all. The odour and smells coming out of the rooms are horrible. There is a a need to change the beddings and sheets.
Excellent location - closed to all of the city's attractions, bars, clubs and shops No car park
Location, the price I stay here 3 or 4 times a month and there are always niggling complaints; 2 out of my last 3 early morning call requests didn't happen. Heating not turned on in my room until 3rd request; no iron in the ironing room (stolen!) but no offer to pop next door to Debenhams to get one. Location and price, plus a decent breakfast, save the day
Although it is located in the centre of Birmingham the hotelrooms were dirty and uncomfortable (old beds, bathroom below standards) Hotel needs compleet renovation
Location, cleanliness of the rooms and hotel The Reception staff were so bad! When the hotel was practically empty they put me in a room next to where there were going to b discos two nights running when I had mentioned in my booking that I had heard about this problem and wanted a very quiet room. They could so easily have done that! Also they did not have on their computer the correct info about the 4 night package I was doing and so there was a fuss about 'overcharging', luckily I had a copy of my booking form.... Someone was going to help me with my luggage to change rooms, up and down stairs, they did not bother to turn up. This is a hotel that mainly relies on Weddings, and other guests are treated very poorly.
friendly, informative and helpful staff, lovely location, fascinating history.
A genuinely farm-rural location, but along a smooth well-surfaced road past the farm. Only 10 minutes at most from main roads, fulfilling our need for an easy drive to the N.E.C. Birmingham's car park and adjacent Airport (25mins, non-motorway roads). Well furnished and clean, annexe room was spacious and quiet, looking in on courtyard. Restaurant standards at dinner and breakfast (menu, service, food presentation and quality) very good. Outside, and rooms especially SE or SW-facing are easily within the mile-distant M42 traffic, constant traffic noise could be objectionable (but access from same road via J9 is fairly easy!). Presence of marquee indicates events such as wedding receptions could co-incide with your stay. No air-con in annexe room used, nor was a lift to upstairs rooms seen. No other places like shop or pub seen in the vicinity. No major grumbles, to be honest, unless these factors are important to a specific customer. You choose this location because of its rural location, and a good quality stay on-site.
Lovely rural location within easy reach of the NEC.
The room was bright, shower excellent. Public areas were cold, couldn't stay in bar because it was so cold. Restaurant meal was over priced - mine was too big my husband's ridiculously small - served large and small wine in two glasses of equal quantity but different shapes. Breakfast poor, limited.
Location next to a canal. The food was below expectation.
Useful location for my work in North and East Birmingham Restaurant meal was well presented but rather bland in taste on my first night. In contrast my room service meal the following night was excellent. Restaurant staff need to learn to leave the customer while they study the menu rather than 'hovering around' waiting for the order.
every thing about the stay at the hotel was first class everything
The hotel was reasonably priced and the staff very helpful and attentive at all times. Room quality was also good. Quality of evening meal was poor and did not represent particularly good value for money. Quality has dropped significantly since our last visit. Head of restaurant was patronising and disinterested (not the waitresses - they were excellent) which is odd considering the number of complaints we overheard him receiving! Also prices of drinks at the bar were, in some cases, extortionate.
Large well-appointed rooms with no unnecessary frills; on-site restaurant with good value pub style food; pleasant business-like staff None really
The two members of staff on the reception desk when I arrived and left were excellent; friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the evening meal, which we thought was good value. Our room was clean. The heating was on despite the weather being warm; a minor problem, as we were also given a fan. The cooker was not working in the kitchen, so were were not able to have a cooked breakfast; also a minor problem. The main problem was that there was a fly crawling over the food that was out for the continental buffet breakfast. Not being able to have a cooked breakfast I decided to have muesli, but the fly was crawling over the uncovered bowls of food, which put me off. Luckily there were some croissants in sealed bags. I pointed out (to the member of staff overseeing breakfast) that there was a fly, but she said that it was not possible for them to do anything. I asked if at least the food could be covered, but she said that there was the danger of cross contamination, so could not cover the breakfast buffet. I have always thought of Whitbread as providing a high standard of cleanliness, so thought that this let down your product reputation. The bathroom taps looked stylish, but were impractical; they could not be turned on and off by someone with poor grip or arthritis.
Staff were very friendly and helpful by providing taxi numbers and local things to do of interest Other people (guests) were very noising but then we were staying by the main door!
The manager was rude and should be replaced her attitude at breakfast was very poor pity as the rest of the staff were very welcomming
Clean and tidy hotel and staff in restaurant were friendly Check in member of staff was particularly rude to a member of the party who wished to pay by cash but had no photographic identity. Thought this was a silly rule anyway and not consistant as when she stayed at another of your hotels this was not asked for. But the staff member said if she did not have another form of payment she could not stay at the hotel!!!
Gym Food cost greatly outweighed the quality
Meals, leisure facilities, friendly and helpful hotel staff Only on my last eveing at the hotel did the TV and associated services become available in my as a result of the television being upgraded to a plasma screen with separate ethernet point.Perhaps an upgrade was being planned but there was no communication on this matter. Perhaps my business clashing with the SpringFair at the NEC in early February means that the hotels don't have to try too hard for business?
I stayed at the hotel because a family wedding was there, so it was very handy for this. I would not pick this to stay at because the rooms are all over the place and it was a long walk from reception to our room. At breakfast if it was busy, they staff could not keep up with the demand. We had to wait to be seated & then we had to wait for fresh breakfast to be put out on thre buffet. They even had to send uostairs for more bread.
Quiet location - confortable hotel, large car park and sports centre Menu restricted - service very slow many rooms in annex quite a walk from hotel itself
Food good, location good Room dirty and dark/ dingy. Poorly maintained and not cleaned properly.
I found the hotel and its staff to be pleasant enough. The breakfast was definitely worth the £10 as they catered to everyone, however the bar menu was certainly overpriced. The only thing i was really disappointed with was that the pool was out of order and the kids were looking forward to using in during our stay!
Being with my husband Very very expensive - signs not very good - like a maze
staff were very friendly and the food was lovely not a dislike the price f meals were vey expensive
Enjoyable walk around the lake. Shame there wasn't more access to the surrounding areas and it could have been developed more for visitors to enjoy
Check in/out was very efficient The lifts!! Have a mind if there own but when your in the 14th floor you have no choice but the use them it can take you up & down a few times before getting the floor you require Oh & breakfast is chaos not enough tables to cater for guests
location was easy to find wifi was only in the lobby and I had to pay to use their parking deck
The view, bed and the shower Chaotic buffet breakfast.
Very accomodating staff Dusty and the food was the same every day!
The hotel was in a great location as we were visiting Birmingham for the Christmas markets and shopping at the Bullring. Nothing at all.
The location, comfort and cleanliness of the hotel.
Great, location, good food, and comfortable quiet room!
Breakfast Room was cold. Staff unable to get fixed so put up with it rather than repack and move.
Excellent location, high standard of room, comfortable bed, excellent en suite with bath and shower. Breakfast was not very hot and we had to wait until we had nearly finished before coffee was served, but the choice was good. The plates should have been warmed.
The breakfast was excellent Excessive car charges £24 sterling for one night was excessive, I presume rooms are going to be updated ...
the breakfast was fantastic.
Staff very helpful, nice location. Room was in need of decorative updating, bathroom was scruffy and tired, heater did not work well
Large comfortable rooms, well heated and great bed
very close to town centre
Staff really friendly without fail.
helpful porters at the entrance and the pool.
Wonderful Room Wonderful View Wonderful Spa!
Luxury and modern styling, lovely lobby, restaurant and classy bar, clean and felt quality, professional and smart staff The drunk young italian thug at the bar....... The lack of free satellite tv channels...... Plus the parking that had to be in the NCP around the corner was closed at 11pm when I got back to the hotel!
Easy walk to NIA. Staff always polite & friendly. Nothing
Excellent facilities Comfortable bed overal good We presumed breakfast and car parking was included in the price as it was the previouse year and cheaper then.
Dining room staff excellent all staff very helpful Telephoned to change from one room to two. This had not happened on checking in. However we were accommodated a room each and next to each other which was great
Excellent service Nothing
Late check out at 12.00, which means you can have a lovely lie in Unfortunately the temperature was minus 4 degrees and the hotel is not built for cold weather. The rooms were just at a reasonable temperature for someone that doesn't feel the cold too much. The restaurant and lounge area were very cold and whilst the food was excellent, we left as soon as we had finished eating as it was uncomfortable to sit and enjoy.
Well appointed and central location However you look at it £170 can get you overnight anywhere
Good staff Want to charge you for water bottles in room No batteries in remote control Cheap toilet paper For the price you pay you would think the hotel would get all these little points right!
very helpful staff nothing outstanding stood out but it was a very pleasant stay with no problems. too much chlorine in the pool and jacuzzi
Location despite being far from the railway station What we were charged had nothing to do with both your prices on the internet and nothing to do with the numbers of breakfasts we had. we had to intervene to both. this is the first time we are facing this after hundreds of hotels we visited. we had our room left for the hole day as we woke up one day
Proximaty to centre
Convenient location. Ideal for a night out in the centre of Birmingham. Rooms were pretty basic, but sound enough for what we needed them for.
hotel room was lovely - good value for money and the breakfast was good.
the pizza. screaming kids running about in the corridor.
the size of our room was excellent
Location; bar. 1. Staff ignoring people who were smoking in the non-smoking/eating sections of the hotel. 2. Newspapers having to be collected from reception - I wanted to read in bed. 3. The shower leaks all over the bathroom floor because the shower door doesn't fit properly
My visit was good and enjoyed my stay as the location is near the clubs and restaurants and the German Market The fact that the cleaners woke me up three times between 8.30am and 9.30am by entereing my room while I was sleeping
double beds in thetwin rooms and being allowed to have a smoking room
Jurys have really up the mark in this Hotel,We have stayed before and it gets better every year.
Hotel as expected, staff very helpful, drinks and meals expensive but only to be expected on an airport site. Didn't have hotel breakfast as too expensive when you can get two good breakfasts at Frankie & Benny's in the airport for the same price as one in the hotel. Access to NEC and Birmingham centre.
quality of breakfast not as high as the last time I stayed with you three years ago. Sorry.
I loved how convenient is was to get to the NEC and airport from the hotel. It was stress free and swift.
The staff very helpful
Convenient to Birmingham Airport! Great for early morning flight. They even gave us our b'fast in a bag the night before since our plane left before the breakfast opened. We have traveled a bit, but never in a place where we needed to insert our card into a slot to turn on the lights. Guess that is well known, however was not by us. Helpful housekeeper showed us. Very convenient to have USB charger for electronics.
The location was excellent for the airport along with the quick tram link to the NEC and train station. The rooms were freezing!
Room very basic and poorly decorated, no air con or fully opening windows
Spacious room for organizing repacking to travel. Sufficient places to sit at dinner for a single person. Excellent personnel response in replacing burnt out light bulb. Location wrt airport and railroad. Value based on my particular reservation was good. I was paying out of personal pocket. But I would return for the same price. No bright LEDs to disturb my sleep Nice breakfast. Nothing bad No sign if water in fridge is free (many hotels charge for this) I would like decaf earl grey for room to help sleep Burger at dinner. Glad that this was well-done. But the bun was very dry. Needed a nice sauce to make it all more moist and flavorful. Restaurant did not seem to know if a British beer: ale was available. Yes I liked the ale provided but the server did not know about it. It would be good if there are real British ales on tap instead of the usual corporate beers. Is it possible to get United miles for staying at Novotel? This Would influence my decisions. John Taylot
staff was very helpful and friendly
Proximity to Terminals and comfort of rooms. Check in and out times were excellent too.
Great location for airport and NEC events. Restaurant on site and bar open 24hours. Good for business, leisure or family stays. Staff friendly. Very accommodating and would definitely stay again. No noise heard from the airport. Our allocated room smelled of smoke and they changed our room immediately and apologised.
room was lovely Checking out was long winded as only one receptionist on, we were checking out at 07.15am (not a busy time!) to be at an appt for 07.30 but receptionist was back & forward as couldn't find a receipt for customer in front of us and never once asked for someone to serve,so we were late for our appt by few minutes....poor
The room was comfortable. The check-in experience was very amateur for a hotel of your calibre. Also I found that the carpet in the room was quite stained.
The availability of an iron and ironing board in my room. When I went down to breakfast I was seated and then ignored for about 25 minutes. I had to ask one of the staff if I could order as I had a tight schedule.
massage chairs in the spa were a big plus
The service in the bar was appalling and the hotel is starting to look shabby and neglected.
The comfort of the rooms and big bathrooms along with the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area. gorgeous breakfasts with very good attention to detail with what was on offer. The shower was a bit low in both pressure and height and the room a bit cool.
Stylish decor the very poor service!!! both reception and in the restaurant!!!
This is the second time here and we had another wonderful time! We especially love the position as its very close to the canal network and various bars and restaurants - plus very near to the City Centre. Lovely atmosphere too as, although its an incredibly comfortable hotel it also has a 'warm and inviting' feel. Your staff are 'second to none' - well done! Hope this assists - thanks.
Close to Birmingham New Street rail station
The location of the hotel is a short walk from the staion and from the bull ring The rooms are basic beds not comfortable air con very load for a new hotel only a shower with basic soap travel lodge style food in restraunt poor rough area laminated floors in bedroom would not recormend this as a buiness hotel
The Hotel was spot on staff very helpfull walking into city centre was about 15 minutes through not very nice side streets. ( not recomended returning from NIA at night )
The room was very clean and well presented and very quiet. Coffee & Tea available. I did not like the Hotel policy of requiring a deposit if you were going to use any of the facilities. For example we had dinner in the restaurant but I was not allowed to charge it to my room because I had not paid a deposit when I booked in. I paid cash. It is a minor irritation but a silly policy.
Nice and friendly receptionists I choose the hotel because Internet should be available. That turned out to be the case only in the first floor, not in my room.
the breakfast was delicious, hotel is quite near to the new street railway station and the shopping centre bullring although the hotel should be 4*, some services and facilities, which should be in 4* hotel are missing - minibar, safebox, bathroom amenities + the price 15 GBP also for TV (bbc, cnn...) is too high! (standard TV channels should be for free)
the heating,as it was very cold in birmingham city that day we was their no where to park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the price, I would have expected more. It was clean and basic.
On a cold winters night it was very very close to the bar we were going to that evening and it was close to local shops and supermarket! Staff were extremely unwelcoming and not usefull in the slightest
The hotel had a pretty good location, fairly central to the city and shops. I was literally a few minutes from where I needed to be. The room was very cold in the morning however it did snow over night and the beds were not partically spacious
The whole package, from the staff to the great accommodation. Just one very small thing, at breakfast, the plates weren't warmed so breakfast was cold before it got to the table.
location charging additional for breakfast. small rations for in room coffe making.
Very quiet room, very comfortable bed & seating. Tea & coffee facilities well stocked. Check-in was very poor, slow - with a queue from desk to entrance. Staff approach seemed rather too casual. Bedroom was quite clean but had to remove some litter from floor.
the easyness it was to get to the NIA and broad street. it was quite hot in the room and found it difficult to turn the heating down.
Nice spacious rooms, excelent location, check staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was cold, poor choice and very expensive, the staff at breakfast were either hungover or on mogodam,go weatherspoons.
everything!was a great stay
The room was tastefully decorated and the location was awesome
Didn't stay at Mint Hotel - stayed at City Inn, birmingham Bed really uncomfortable
huge window was a nice touch no bath
The room was very clean and very well equipped. The location of the Hotel was also very central and convenient for the city centre.
Excellent hotel, with everything you need near by. The pubs clubs and restaurants were only 3 min walk away. A superb hotel to stay in.
Breakfast Loud music until midnight
breakfast, very poor
Excellent refurbishment, first room ever stayed in that allows you to watch tv in comfort from bed. The fact that no evening meal service was available, Could be that it was Sunday may be reason !!!!!
We were attending a wedding and the hotel was ideally placed midway between the church and reception venue. The night was excetionally hot and there was no air conditioning or fan. Only one of the 2 windows could be opened wide. People leaving the live music event at 3.00AM spilled out into the street and were extremely noisy; the live music itself was not a problem.
Location away from the plastic hotels of Birminham Noise fron traffic outside.
Staff very polite and helpful food very good nice comfortable clean hotel ideally situated close to shops etc
Local to where I was going each day
breakfast the young lady who tended to us was very polite and helpfull the room was very tired and quite expensive for what it was
nothing - this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed! everything. filthy, poor facilities, stank of smoke
The bar area had been updated and the location was good and central to town The rooms were very shabby and in desperate need of renovation, it was noisy as right next to the road with the bar not closing until 3am and the walls were paper thin. Was kept up until 6am with some mad drunk irish man screaming at his wife for an hour
Everything was very nice, the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was only about 10 min walk from the nec. The meals were a bit to expensive.
We booked the hotel because hotel had a multi-million pound update. Unfortunately we were put in one of old rooms not refurbished. The hotel accommodated us when we explained we booked the hotel on-line because of the refurbishment and we were moved to a more suitable room
Room service was excellent!
the menu choice and the food and service in the restaurant was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable as well. When I was arriving to find the hotel (however it was in the darkness) I felt that there could be better directional signage for the hotel on the surrounding roads.
Location - Near NEC and Birmingham Airport Rooms tiny with single bed up against wall. No Aircon and advised not to open windows as the Mosquitos will come in. Restaurant expensive for extremely average food.
Our room was booked from 3pm, but there was no twin room ready when we checked in at 4pm, yet they wouldnt allow us a late checkout either, that was unreasonable. Also, food was a v basic bar menu, or a la carte expensive fine dining or the middle option was a buffet which costs £33 per head and was a total rip off. A glass of wine ws £7.95. Do not recommend eating here. Although breakfast was included in our rate, we couldnt pay the £3.50 tray service to have it delivered to our room, we would also have to pay an additional £20 for the breakfast!! I think the website should inform you of this and I think it is unfair.
All staff I came into contact with, the checking- in staff and particularly the concierge staff were excellent, pleasant and extremely helpful. Obviously, as it is near the NEC it was quite crowded and noisy in parts/
swimming pool the room was a bit shabby -bathroom the guy next door smoked hanging out side the window and there were tab ends all over the flat roof outside It was not as nice as the other 2 stays
the late bar and the variety of the restaurents the cost of the restaurent and the fact that a service charge was put on the bill automatically.....even though it was a self service meal??
leisure facilities, close to nec
Heating did not work very good, only cold air and it was -6 outside.
