Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very nice host who suggested good options for getting around Shikoku, as well as things to do in Takamatsu and nearby cities.~ Property was very clean and had lots of amenities.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The whole accomodation was very clean. The host was welcoming and gave many great tips. There is Wifi, a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: it's really kind of the owner to give me lots of advice for my trip!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: First of all, the owner was perfect. He was communicative, informative and fun to talk to. The room was clean, warm, amenities provided was more than expected. Perfect stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful house and an amazing host. Spent an hour taking me through what to do locally and where to go for the remainder of my trip. Very knowledgeable and excellent English. Would recommend for all travellers.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The owner is so amazing that you have to go just to meet him. Wow. And very clean and nice atmosphere
Cons: The pillow wasn't so comfortable and blanket little too short
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was heartwarming to see such a lovely family taking care of the guesthouse together. The owner greeted me by name when I entered, treated me to tea, answered all of my questions, and offered up expert advice on where to go and how to get there. Additionally the amenities were fantastic. They offered both bath towels and face towels and always had an abundance of hot teas available. My top bunk bed even had blackout shades on the sides and TOP of the bunk bed so I wasn't disturbed by the other sleepers in the room. The shower was always clean and came with a swiffer mop and pad so we could keep it clean of hair before using.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Takeshi is the consummate host. He is super welcoming to everyone and offers great local recommendations when he learns of your interests. The guesthouse is spotless and innovative in design.
Cons: A bit of a hike from the nearest train station, but in a very quiet neighborhood, which is welcome.

Excellent 9.2
Pros: Both the public and the private book onsens are great. The view of the waterfall from the outdoor onsen is simply amazing, creating a sense of tranquility. Our “hutte” which is actually a free standing resort suite is tastefully decorated with a huge patio looking out into the trees and the river. Pity it’s January when we stayed there. I can imagine how beautiful and wonderful it must be during the fall with colorful autumn leaves.
Cons: The heat in the room is simply too hot since we already have electric mat and very warm down blanket to keep us snug and warm.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The location was beautiful and quiet; very nice hot spring bathing facility; great view from our room. The mostly young staff attended us very well.
Cons: The house unit where we stayed was more suited for young and active due to the steep access route. A guest with walking difficulties better avoid staying at a hute. The meals were plenty in volume but of average quality.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We love the public onsen, private spa and the amazing view of our room. The complimentary coffee machine and milk was a value added to the whole room package.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Asan Kotonami is pretty new Ryokan, not traditional ryokan. * Every staffs are professional, speak English well. * Room condition is good. I stayed room with private onsen. Onsen has beautiful mounatain view. I highly recommend roomd with private bath. * Public bath is really fantastic. has many outdoor onsen and can enjoy nature. there is artificial waterfall so can enjoy beautiful nature sound in public onsen. Public bath may change everyday(Male and Female bath). * Amenities are good. * Kaiseki & Breakfast is good. * There is billiards and karaoke room, fire place, mini supermarket, massage & spa shop. * Pathway is beautiful.
Cons: * Nothing. but It is hard to arrive at Ryokan without rental car.
Okay 5.6
Meals are disappointing and it’s definitely not worth the money we paid for. It’s the worst meals we had in Japan. Even the convenience/quick meals at Lawson or Family Mart tastes better than that we had at Asan Kotonami. Food doesn’t taste like Japanese cusine at all. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and there’s no visible meat (pork, chicken or beef) dish served for dinners. At best, some minced meat or 2-3 tiny cubes found in appetisers.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was amazing. It had a private outside onsen with lovely views of the forest. The room itself was very nicely furnished with very comfortable beds and no shortage of electric power outlets. Dinner was kaiseki style with a lot of different dishes, not particularly our thing but we could tell the quality was there and the service was great. All in all a great stay and we would have liked to stay an extra night.
Cons: Nothing really.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The meals were very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would go back again if i pass by! The marshmallows were a nice touch.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Fantastic room and dinner. The onsen was great. Service was good and they had free marshmallows after dinner
Cons: Nothing

Good 7.0
Pros: The breakfast was delicious! And the space is very cool!
Cons: There was confusion over guests and small things like leaving our bags there. Think it would of helped if they had someone who could speak a little more english.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: I loved the atmosphere of the Cafe and how the dorm was minimal and had all the necessities one would need. The staff were accommodating, friendly and informative. I felt safe and secure in this cute space.
Cons: Only thing I would like to see if a common area closer to the dorm so one could eat and drink what they made in the kitchenette.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Standard capsule hotel-like place, but with a lot of space and good amenities. Large common area downstairs to sit in, and the snacks and drinks for sale as well as breakfast are all very good. Good cake too.
Cons: A little further from central Takamatsu than many other hotels, but still only a 10 minute walk and the surrounding area is quieter as well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Overall a perfect hostel with integrated cafe. The staff was so nice and stayed longer for me so I could check-in.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Junko san was fantastic! Really kind, she helped me to organise a Udon school class at Konpirasan. The staff was very friendly and helpful at the guest house!
Cons: The beds were too hard for me.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything especially the helpful staff.
Cons: I have difficulty using the wifi at the hostel with my computer but it works elsewhere. The wifi works with my phone though. Perhaps it is just my computer.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Good location! Newly renovated inside and fit with current requirements.
Cons: Staff is not really committed but just as employees. I could not find out owners of the facilities.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: the breakfast is nice, and the shower is clean, enough for back packers. also has simple kitchen with refrigerator.
Cons: the place is really nice but a but need to take bus to Takamatsu station, so if you plan to go to setouchi triennale, might a bit inconvenient.
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Lack of comfortable couches & arm chairs in which to relax
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced. The bunks are the best design I have seen. They are separated and positioned for noise control. They have a channel for air to circulate, lockers at the base for luggage and the beds are large. They also have a clever fold out mini table and two shelves to organize your things. Bathrooms are modern and spotless. The reception and cafe on the main floor are well designed and there is a great library with many awesome art, design and photography books. Lastly the staff are fantastic! I met some very friendly people with a good command of English.
Cons: In the bathroom there are 3 showers in total for 20 guests, so at full occupancy it will be a wait foe a shower some mornings. The location of Kinco is not as convenient as other hostels in the downtown, but it’s still walkable.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Hotel is a bit dated but still ok. Environment is nice and beautiful. Onsen is good. Choice for breakfast not much, dinner is very good though.
Good 7.0
Pros: The place is based in a calm environment providing great view from the bedroom. The room is big and comes with a comfortable bed. The bathroom is small but clean and pleasant. The staff is great and tries to be really helpful to you for any of your requests. The Shiryama station is 3 minutes on foot which connects the city in less than 30 minutes.
Cons: The place is slightly secluded and doesn't offer many restaurants and stores around. The restaurant onsite closed at 9pm and it was a struggle to find something for dinner after.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Spacious onsen, impressive dinner & nice staff! All is beyond my expectation!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: I like how accommodating the staffs were. The shuttle service is very convenient as well. The location is perfect for those who need to catch an early flight in the morning but there’s nothing around it so you might wanna buy food etc before going
Good 7.6
Everything is fine except the lighting. I don’t know why is that so dark.
Good 6.0
Pros: Very little, the pictures when you book the hotel are very different from the real hotel room.
Cons: The key, the bathroom, the hallway, the sauna and the onsen are prohibited for those who have tattoos. The staff can’t speak English and they were not so friendly, too serious and they didn’t game me much information, the key stuck in the lock several times and the hallway was old and dirty.
Good 7.0
Pros: There’s onsen and sauna which is nice. Comfy beds but couldn’t say the same on the pillows.
Cons: Soundproofing is not ideal, we got waken up by a loud family at 6:30am. Strong smell cigarette smoke despite the fact that it’s a nonsmoking room.
Good 7.0
Pros: Friendly staff, clean room, good price.
Cons: Location was quite remote.

Mediocre 2.0
When we make a booking, we had requested late check in. We had not received any objection. So, we had arrived at hotel at 0030. However, the door had been locked. We waited outside more than 'one hour' and we got freeze as the temperature was around 6 degree. We tried any method to contact the hotel. Finally, there was one man, who wore the dress like pajamas, come out. He was so obvious that he was just wake up. As he didn't say anything, we didn't know he was a staff or customer. Shockingly, this guy walk back to his 'Staff sleeping Room'. In this moment, we knew that he was a 'Staff'. He didn't offer any help and even didn't ask if we needed help. When we told him that we want to check in. He just keep us waiting for long. During the whole process. He didn't show empathy to what we had been experienced. How can treat the customer like that? On 22nd morning, hotel manager apologize to us. He concerned what we experienced late night. At least, it could make us feel better.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The service is quite good, the environment is quiet and nice
Good 7.9
Pros: Spacious room! Twin beds, PLUS Japanese-style sitting/eating area PLUS small balcony. Comfortable. V good breakfast. Pretty lake outside, hills. Loved the rather wild rural drive from Miyoshi. Slow, windy and v pretty.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A perfect place for a family to relax for a couple of days. The people were all super friendly and extremely helpful, especially the hotel manager. Our highlights: great breakfast buffet, a mix of Japanese and Western style breakfast, nice onsen, swimming pool, karaoke studios, cocktail bar. A clear recommendation.

Okay 5.8
Pros: It’s a cheap choice.
Cons: 1. It’s too far from the station( Walk about 20min walk to the nearest train station). 2. It can not use cash. ( The staff told us they can use the cash but only when we get there to find that their credit card machine has some problems. ) 3. A little insecure. ( The room does’t have key, when you go back you have to call them to open the door. ) 4. The staff can’t say English at all, It’s quite hard to communicate.
Good 7.1
Cons: No reception, you have to figure out by yourself that you have to pickup a room by yourself. After entering the room you have to call the reception to tell them you booked on booking.com. An automatic email explaining everything would be appreciated!
Good 6.3
Pros: Good size of room. High privacy.
Cons: I found a used condom under my, this was really discussing!
Good 6.7
Pros: Cheap on Saturday night, in compared with other love hotels. View was nice, in front of the river. Space is quite enough, separate bathroom and toilet. TV screen is very good, 60”.
Cons: The route to get to the hotel is not easy. No WiFi, breakfast has to pay extra fee, bed mat size was very small, so they made a wide frame to enlarge it. But since it costs cheap, you get what you paid for. Fare enough.
Okay 5.4
Pros: The room is big, nice jacuzzi
Cons: It is an old fashioned love hotel. Lacks of privacy. You can not keep the room keys Very old furniture.

Good 7.0
Pros: I love the old ambiance. It has a sort of mysterious vibe to it which is heightened by the shabbiness and spiderwebs hanging around every corner. It's hard to wrap your mind around just exactly what this place is. Like a strange dream. I enjoyed the onsen-- nice silky water.
Cons: The front desk staff was not very friendly or helpful. They did immediately come to our room to offer to help set up the futons-- though this was strange because we were all eating and drinking around the table, and they did not hesitate to say they need to put away the table to do this. So of course I told them we would set them up ourselves. This may be standard, but it felt quite intrusive and strange to me. There was no shower head, which I think may have something to do with the bath being connected to the hot springs water... though I don't really understand why that means no shower head. The restaurant could not serve us without us having booked a meal in advance. Whether that is because they were too busy or it's just a policy, I wasn't sure. It may also be due to capacity issues resulting from social distancing measures, so I don't fault them too much for this. FYI: You may be tempted to check out the snack bar down the street called "Gigolo"-- you will likely be turned away if it's still corona times. We so wanted to hang out there given the name. Too bad.
Good 7.5
Pros: Traditional Japanese ryokan style hotel. Nice rotenburo.
Cons: The hotel is a bit far from everything, you need to either book dinner or eat before arriving.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: I enjoy onsen in Shin Kabakawa Kanko hotel
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Service. Quiet. Very traditional breakfast. In the room, private bathtub and the same onsen water was nice. There during a typhoon so the view from the big picture windows was fun. Slept like a log.
Cons: Restaurant food wasn't the best at dinner time. Very traditional breakfast though and I think that is their specialty.

Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Free Parking, Next to big park. And affordable Price. The owner at the hotel was kind.
Cons: Overall this hotel was simply disorganized, more than I expected.
Good 6.3
Pros: Spacious room
Cons: Lobby and hallway are dirty and full of stuff. Train almost drives through the room
Good 7.9
Pros: Convenient location and affordable price. Room was very spacious.
Cons: It’s an older hotel so it’s not the most up-to-date but is comfortable for the price.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The building is old and not super clean like the Japanese standard of cleanliness. However, the room was clean, bedding was comfortable. Bathroom was clean with basic stuff. The owner was helpful. We enjoyed our stay. We stayed for one night, as breaking journey between Takamatsu(Shikoku) to Kyoto. Free parking and it is right next to Ritsurin Garden.
