We were greeted with a very friendly owner (I think) who offered us a drink to fill in a survey. From there on out, it was nothing but great experiences from the facilities to interacting with staff. Loved the place, will definitely return next time!
The flooring was all concrete, hard on your feet if you've been out all day or if you're going barefoot for a shower. Minor issue honestly, just wear your shoes indoors.
The hostel is very close to the train station - there's a direct line from Narita that stops here - Look for JR-Sobu Line. We can see the A1 exit from our room. :) There are also other train lines within the vicinity that gives you flexibility on the which line is more convenient. We're always waiting for the day to cool down so we spent half of our day inside our room and we noticed that the staff cleans the rooms, toilets, shower rooms and trash bins every day. AS IN EVERY DAY - which says a lot about cleanliness. They are also very polite when you're still using those areas that they need to clean. They won't get in your way, they will wait for you to finish. You can also get new towels every day for free. If you want to use slippers, you have to pay 50 JPY. We also utilized their shared kitchen -which is well-equipped if you want to buy your own food for breakfast or dinner. The shower area is also very efficient - you get to have a free dry space in the bathroom where you can put on your clothes and dry yourself - this is the first time I get to see this(other than at the gym) - which is very thoughtful. Thanks Obi Hostel for being awesome. We'll be back :)
I think future occupants should be informed about garbage segregration. It's just sad that the staff had to segregate the trash again because the occupants are not able to do so.
I was surprised how clean and well maintained the facility was. Lot of amenities and friendly staff.
The only thing I was unhappy was the lack of a dedicated lounge area. The cafe served well as one, but it was unavailable during lunch times.
Great hostel. Very clean. Nice located - not loud, but also not too far away from citycenter. Walking distance to Asakusa snd Akihabara. Lovely guest snd amazing staff. The foodparties by Gaku were just the wipecream on top. Stayed 2 weeks in Tokyo just because of this hostel and the awesome people. ^^
The bathroom is clean
Quite hot in the night
