Pros: Wonderful birding lodge. Feeders bring wide variety of birds into view. Dining room has expansive windows for viewing. Knowledgeable staff and spacious cabins.
Cons: Depressing cold and horrible place. The lodge is not welcoming at all. We ordered the Deluxe lodge, but there were nothing luxury about it. There was a hot tub, but not sufficient hot water to fill it. And when we tested it, brown bits came out of the nozzles. Also there were no mosquito netting on the air vents. The lighting was lacking and awful, with strange lamps providing much to little and not at all cosy lighting. The location is also poor, unless you have a car, because it is very isolated and 30 km from the Toucanet Park. This is also something they also take advantage of, with extremely high restaurant prices! I would avoid this place.
Pros: The staff helped us twice in getting us a taxi in this somewhat remote area.
Cons: It was too remote & far from the Interamericana highway for not having a car.
Pros: The lodge is in a beautiful area in the mountains. As it was a rest stop on our way to the beach we did not get a chance to explore their trails. The owners were very warm and friendly. They spoke English so they could be very helpful.
Cons: Our room was a bit tired but the bed was comfortable. Faucet didn't work in the bathroom but the shower was good.
Pros: Beautiful porches and hardwoods
Cons: My husband was a bit disabled and our room did not have a banister to get up the couple of stairs to room
Pros: Nice room with fireplace, and wonderful restaurant.
Cons: Nothing to do.
Pros: Great place to see quetzals Lovely room
Cons: Basic continental breakfast, could have included fresh fruit.. Restaraunt was very expensive. No brochures for any trips or activities
Pros: Nice hosts and nice location in a quiet surrounding. Be aware though that the lodge is not in the cloud forest itself and that the “quetzal tour” which is offered on their website takes place on the premises of the “Paraiso Quetzal Lodge” which is 30min away by car. Complimentary coffee and tea in the restaurant.
Cons: Restaurant rather expensive (we did not eat there). We stayed in a standard bungalow at the end of December. Those standard bungalows do not have a heating and lots of cracks and openings between the door and the frame. So, be prepared for a cold night with lots of bugs. Uncomfortable beds.
Pros: Beautiful surroundings. The management staff was fabulous!! Will definitely stay again

This lodge has 484 square feet (45 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The food was great. The staff were more than hospitable.
Cons: The cabins really do not have heating. It was quite chilly. The sleeping was good with warm covers.
Pros: The food was delicious, tasted all fresh, and was well-flavored. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and had excellent quetzal vision. The quetzal tour was well worth going on, and the self-hike trail was beautiful as well. Gorgeous gardens and comfortable cabins. I definitely would stay again!
Cons: The bed was not the most comfortable and I was pretty cold (didn’t bring my boyfriend), but there were a lot of thick fluffy blankets that helped with that.
Pros: Good, long-distance trail ... well maintained and easy to access.
Cons: Staff failed to pick us up as promised, reneged on promised free Quetzales tour (also making us pay for an advertised free dinner). Hotel lied about issuing receipt. Booking.com failed completely to get any redress, despite lengthy correspondence and assurances they could settle matter. Conclusion = don't trust this hotel, and don't expect help from booking.com
Pros: The breakfast was delicious. There were several choices, and the staff attention was very good. They even helped my parents with special requirements of their medications.
Cons: I think for some people it is best that they provide manual heaters instead of more blankets. The region is quite cold during the night. Also, having some more shelf space in the cabin would be great.
Pros: Beautiful location in the mountains . The cabins were comfortable and clean . The staff friendly and helpful . Food delicious .
Cons: Nothing not to like

Pros: A huge big thank you to Andres & his big smile. He is a great host and will do everything to make you happy. The view is stunning and he will introduce you to his happy donkey & crazy dogy. He is a hard worker as well as an excellent cook as he made perfect pasta. In the morning Andres is welcoming you with a nice breakfast & alway his smile. He is a happy man, and your trip to Costa Rica wouldn't be fulfilled if you don't get to know Andres.
Cons: It was freezing in the room at night despite the 5 blankets. That needs an improvement for futur guest as well as other details that would impact on guest comfort.
Pros: The view! Beautiful sunrise and sunset. I was surrounded by nature and secluded! The hike on the trail was amazing. Words and photos do not reveal the beauty of the Sanctuary. It must be experienced in person.
Cons: It was a great experience overall. Nothing particular that I didn’t like.
