The comfort, breakfast and location.
Although the room we booked ended up being a twin, the management upgraded us to a suite with a king size bed for a small increase in rate. All standard/superior rooms are twin beds.
Extremely good location in relationship to the town centre The hotel was more geared to business travelers tan to tourists
Great location in the heart of the walk platz.
Excellent Hotel in heart of city. Good for shops, restaurants and Roman sites. Breakfast vast and lovely. Spa good. Staff very good and speak different languages. Cark park next door and easy to find with GPS.
Breakfast The bathroom was rather small and not 4*. I wonder what was superior about this room? It wasn't any larger than any others, the bathroom ws tiny!
the lack of internet facilities in the room brings down the standing of the hotel
Very central location!
great service, nice rooms airco wasn't working properly
Very helpful staff booked concert tickets for us, and the restaurant served very good food
Room was very comfortable Room may have been too hot
very nice and efficient traditional city hotel nithing , really
I found the staff very polite and helpful, the premises where very clean and your morning breakfast offered a great varity of fresh and tasty food.
I had asked for on booking, and was given, a quiet room. Because the hotel is on a busy street, I think this is important to specify. Good wi-fi access in my room for a reasonable charge (€2 for the duration of my stay).
Its location, friendly staff and very good food. No
Free parking. Within walking distance to all the sights and museum. The triple room had three single beds which was great for our three sons instead of a double and a single. Reception staff were extremely helpful.
Location, Freindly staff.
The Sauna was a very positive experience. The location is also just a 10 minute walk from the city square. Our room was on the front (road side) of the hotel so it was a little noisey at night due to drunk people on the street in the weekend. (we had the window open) The room was also a bit humid. (no airco in the room) but this would not stop us from visiting again.
good breakfast. Friendly, English-speaking staff all around. Good local parking at hotel. Easy in and out. a 20 minute walk to Porta Nigra, but only 5 minutes to Kaiserthermen; this wasn't entirely clear when booking, but turned out OK.
The view looking onto Porta Nigra.
The view was great and everyone was so friendly and helpful. I loved everything nothing bad to report.
the location is perfect, and we had a real feel at home feeling no remarks
The convenience to the city
location near the city
A very nice hotel located at the historic gate of the ancient city.
The location and view were spectacular! The beds were a little hard. Otherwise, the rooms were perfect!
Cleanliness of the hotel, staff and facilities were good and across the road from the main square.
Good location The all-pervasive smell of smoke: lobby, elevators, restaurant, corridors, room (supposedly non-smoking). Hotel needs to be fumigated.
The location and the fact that the staff were just lovely, in particular when I hurt my foot and they supplies endless ice and support The cost of breakfast but outside of this it was excellent. You could not pick a better spot to enjoy the city, day or night.
This is an excellent and modern hotel in a good location at a most reasonable price.
Great in-town location adjacent to many shopping, dining and sightseeing opportunities. Pool and foosball table in lobby. No air conditioning in the guest rooms made sleeping difficult.
Parking so close by.
The hotel is good, the reception floor being very nicely renovated and decorated. The rooms are quite spacious. The receptionist lady gave us a twin bed room although we booked and wanted a double bed room. We went back to her and she answered us that all the double bed rooms are occupied. Maybe booking.com should clearly make these options more clear at the booking, as it is not the first time when I assume that I will receive a double bed room and the room has twin beds instead of a large one. // We haven't taken the breakfast for 15 euro/pers. and had a very good one in the main square at "Zur Steipe" (10 euro/pers).
Friendly reception, nice room and excellent location, close to city center. Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast
Hotel staff is very friendly. None
Comfortable room with modern decor and large flat screen TV. Very helpful and welcoming reception staff. Secure hotel parking and well located adjacent to the Altstadt. Very good breakfast if a little pricey.
The staff were all very helpful. I found that the whole experiance was better than your guest reviews reflected, We will be returning with a larger party for next years Christmas Market!
It was located right at one end of the Old City which made it very convenient to go out frequently without the hassle of transportation.
Comfortable size of the room and excellent breakfast. Not an easy walking distance from/to main station.
Breakfast was good and provided a gluten free menu items.
being in the town centre but having parking available at reasonable cost. Rooms and whole hotel finished to good quality fittings, beds, bathroom etc. Could possibly be a little noisy at night if you stay in a warm season and want to open the window. Closed in cold weather it was not a problem. Would have liked to be able to get a hot drink in the hotel, but this is not available except at breakfast time.
Central place in the city
Very nice hotel staff, hotel is located in the city center, elevator, underground parking, a beautiful dining room, a varied breakfast with a large selection, hotel highly recommended.
the quietness of the hotel itself, its immaculateness and clean architectural lines (it was a pleasure to ride in the modern glass lift, the corridors were simply and tastefully designed, the showers -- as a previous hotel guest said -- were superb). The staff were friendly and helpful. i had to keep my window shut at night (not my usual habit) to keep out the occasional noise of loud passersby on Fleischstrasse throughout the night. I understand that rooms facing the inner courtyard would not have this problem -- but they are all double (and i booked a single)
Very good location for site see of Trier. Great parking in the city. Very friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Will recommend and would stay again. Our room as right next to the receiption desk and was a little noisy from people checking in and out. When I opened my door people in the lobby could look into my room and see the bed and anyone in it.
Central location - parking facilities - staff very efficient - very modern room
Excellent location, easy cheap parking, very clean and comfortable, great breakfast Nothing, it was lovely
This place was clean, somewhat new, and the staff was professional and courteous. The breakfast was very nice too. Good value for the money.
In the ttown centre. Public car park approx 200 yds away approx 10 euros per 24 hrs. Arrived on the Thursday as planned and booked last November 2007, the hotel , was not aware of our Booking !!! We were allocated a room for two nights and moved for the third .
The location was pretty good. The staff was friendly and told us a few restaurants that the locals go to. Breakfast was good. The area that the parking is in (about half a block behind the hotel and across the street) looked a little sketchy to walk through at night. The parking is enclosed with gate access only so nothing happened to our car.
Very laid back. Twin hotel across even nicer. Most staff very helpful Car park is 250 yards away in gated area. Need to unload luggage at hotel and then drive into car park. Leaving hotel involves opposite problem. When we arrvied lift wasn't working for at least three hours so luggae stayed in lobby until 7.00pm.
Beautiful! We stayed here with our four kids and had two triple rooms. They were clean, spacious and newly renovated in a beautiful old building. The location was great, a minute walk from the Black Gate.
Nothing Staff were very rude and very unfriendly!
absolutely central location, friendly staff, styish atmosphere, free parking lot.
Noysy in the breakfastroom, and not så cleen tables
Great location Uncomfortable beds and kind of noisy,(street noise and thin walls).
Location and staff could here people in next room over.
The nice shape of the room. I think we had the nicest room in the hotel. The breakfast was nice and cosy. The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpfull. The only thing I didn't like was the (very) long time we had to wait before we got our drinks in the cafe-part, while all other people in the restaurant were served immediatly. (By the way: I think that everything you don't like is a complaint; so how can you say what you don't like whitout complaining???)
The room was clean, but a bit small. We slept very well. The breakfast was good, but I suggest you eat before 8:30 in the morning. If you come afterwards it can take some time for them to replenish the food. Otherwise than that, it was great, they even serve champagne for breakfast! The parking is also well taken care of, you park for free which is also an added bonus. There is also free WIFI all through the hotel, but we didn't make use of it. We had our dog with us and they also didn't charge us for her. The staff was extremely friendly, polite and helpful.
You can't beat the location, free wifi and included breakfast for the price. The best value in all my European tour.
A small, simple and good place to stay. It is close to the old part of the city.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was very convenient to the historic sites, shopping and restaurants in Trier. It was also close to the train station.
Location of hotel to Trier city landmarks, friendliness of staff, quiet room, cleanliness, breakfast and overall experience No complaints!
Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Wireless available. Breakfast adequate. Overall excellent experience. Highly recommended. Cannot think of anything.
good location (very near to Casa Chiara), good breakfast, nice garage breakfast room was too small and easy, as well as everything in hotel for the price
Everything! Clean, Modern, Great Location, Comfortable, Good Breakfast, Helpful Staff. Parking garage was unlit at night...very, very dark! But, hey they had parking and it was right at the hotel.
Great welcome from the owner. After a long drive, help with our luggage was much appreciated. Staff were very pleasant and courteous throughout our stay.
The nature of the Eiffel and the city of Trier Nothing
The hotel was very comfortable and centrally located. Paula and Sudhir, the owners, were very hospitable and made our stay very pleasant. The breakfast was also very good.
Very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast and great to be welcomed with a glass of beer. Couldn't do too much for the customer. Nothing
The staff is putting in every effort to make you feel at home. The breakfast is just amazing. Service, friendliness, helpfullness is the only thing that you'll encounter in The Astoria. I will go back there at any time and will recommend this hotel to everyone I know. I have no complaints at all.
The owners were very welcoming and very helpful, they knew the city well and highlighted the places to visit
Well situated for the main attractions. Lovely champagne breakfast . Personal friendly service. Decorated throughout very pleasantly. It was a pity that the bar was not available in the evenings during our particular visit in May.
The owners of Astoria Hotel were very friendly and professional. The interior in the old house was beautiful and obviously recently renovated. All the details were chosen with love and care to fit to the mixed European-Indian style, which was charming and different from "ordinary" hotels. The breakfast room was airy and beautiful with freshly ironed, hand-stitched table clothes. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, with lots of choices, and served personally to our table. The beds were new and comfortable, with bed sheets and blankets of nice quality and in colors matching the interior. We enjoyed the spotless clean room and bathroom, with enough warm water. The room temperature was adjustable with thermostat; we slept well. Absolutely nothing to complain!
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Double room was small but certainly comfortable enough for an overnight stay. Breakfast was good and attractively served.
The staff was very pleasant... being a pivate hotel, the owners made our stay as enjoyable as possible. They didn't offer "standard services", but rather personalised ones with care and attention. No.
friendly english-speaking reception. family- run. super breakfast. good room, small but OK for a budget hotel. Good location near town centre.
The owner paula and her husband run an excellent hotel and helps visitors enjoy their stay in Trier. Astoria is pretty and the perfect place to stay, comfortable, and beautiful establishment. There is nothing to improve on this beautiful hotel.
I can honestly say that there wasnt a single thing that I liked about this hotel... I paid 72 euros a night for a shoe box sized room and couldnt even sleep because of the noise and heat in the room! rooms are TINY and not accurately reflected on the website, they are hot and even with the windows open its still impossible to sleep...you can literally hear every sound possible in the hotel, from doors closing to the clanging of the dishes from the kitchen starting from early morning and lasting all day. My friends had a streetside room and the noise was just as horrible because of the added street noise. This hotel is horrible and not worth the money what so ever!
The exceptional location, cleanliness, staff professionalism, relevant facilities, comfort, parking facilities. Everything was good therefore no negative comments.
It was a nice hotel with a great location. no
Sentral situation. Ok. and clean rooms. Nice breakfast. The staff was, with one exeption, very non-service minded, and un-welcoming.
Great location for Porta Nigra and the pedestrian area. Easy, close parking. We stayed in a triple room and it was plenty large enough for an extra baby cot. The room and hotel was just fine for what we needed. Street noise made it difficult to sleep. The hotel in general and our room was a little dated.
We have stayed her 3 times before, and once at the sister hotel Romischer Kaiser (sorry about spelling) across the road. Always excellent friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, totally ideal for the Xmas Market. Nothing, everything was great.
The location of the hotel, it is right beside the Porta Nigra, which is beside the tourist info office and the main shopping street. Breakfast was a buffet, fruit, cereals, eggs, cold meats and breads. Perfect.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful making the stay very enjoyable even though it was very short.
The loction in the altstadt of Trier. The rest was ok, but only what you can expect for a city or business trip.
The Altstadt-Hotel was awesome! The room had ten foot ceilings, a nice view from the large windows(which had flower boxes outside of them), comfortable bed, and what appeared to be maple flooring. The room was quiet as long as the window remained closed(but the weather was so nice it was open most of the time). The rest of the hotel was updated and very clean as well. It had an up class look and feel while the price was in the budget range(for europe). This might seem trivial but my favorite part was the FREE parking and breakfast buffet which bordered on extravagant! We will definitely stay there again. Nick Colbert
A really excellent breakfast, unlimited good coffee and orange juice, freshly prepared fried eggs or omelette. The window coverings in the bedroom were just very sheer drapes, no curtains or blinds. No full length mirror.
Comfortable basic room, very clean and satisfactory. The proprietress could not have been more friendly or helpful. The food was very good and at a reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone not requiring 5* facilities
The innkeeper staff was very nice and cordial. The innkeeper did not speak English, and my parents (who stayed there with me) spoke no German, but the innkeeper was able to get her points across and provided an excellent stay there.
The hotel was very clean and the room, while small, looked like it had been recently renovated - it was quite nice. While the hotel did not have free parking as a rule, the owner was very nice and allowed me to park in the back area of the hotel overnight. Like most affordable European hotels, the room was quite small. However, as I was on my own, this was not a real problem.
