Pros: Very nicely designed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast was prepared by Owner the house at chosen time, so we didn't have to be early birds on holidays. Rooms and bathroom are spotless clean and cosy, furnished in nice style. Hosts were also happy to give us all the information about the activities, restaurants in the neighbourhood. And they went an extra mile being nice, by decorating the room with baloons because one of us had a birthday. Thank you! We had a wonderful stay in Les Lucioles!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a good continental breakfast, different each day but fresh and lovely. The owners were very friendly and hospitable, the house and room exceptionally clean and crisp in terms of its level of decoration. We liked it enough to want to stay again which we'll attempt to do in two years.
Cons: There was only one small criticism which we mentioned to the owners before our departure, and that was the lack of a door separating our toilet and bedroom. I understood that was only a feature of our room and not the other rooms.
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hosts, good breakfast. Spacious room with large bed.
Cons: I would really have appreciated a door or at least a curtain between the room and the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for a B&B, the hosts were extremely friendly. The accommodation itself also has a bit of intriguing story!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a very helpful and pleasant lady. Gives you all the information you need. She could tell us everything about all the possible walking tours. Very goog breakfast. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Cons: No door between bathroom and bedroom. Not much space in shower. Very difficult not to touch the faucet which controls the temperature and water pressure. One big shared breakfast table. We prefer a private table. This is a personal issue though.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hosts who enjoyed communicating with their guests. Beautifully presented breakfast with extensive selection of breads, cheeses, croissants as well as breakfast cereals. Very comfortable and very large bed with attractive bed linens.
Cons: A minor point but I am not keen on shower curtains; I much prefer a glass panel to form the shower enclosure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners gave us a warm welcome and were happy to chat with us about what to do & see when in La Gleize and surroundings. My partner loves war history and so it was lovely to chat about this with our hosts as well! Thank you Christine & Frankie for your welcoming hospitality!
Cons: It didn't matter for us as we only stayed the one night, but I would have liked a wardrobe to hang some of our clothes, if we would have stayed longer. This is being really picky, and just a building criticism.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, wonderful hosts, beautiful and clean room, excellent breakfast and the surroundings were just great to have very nice hikes with my dog. Really enjoyed my stay. ❤️
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to where I needed to be but a very quiet location. Two good restaurants within walking distance. Friendly proprietors and an interesting story of the house and local area. Excellent location for anyone visiting the Ardennes battlefields.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners and very knowledgeable about the local area. Close enough to walk into village to restaurants etc. Great spread at breakfast and -very important- excellent coffee.
Cons: Parking at rear of the property is on gravel which might be a consideration if on a motorcycle, but not a deal breaker by any means.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this place. The location is perfect and the breakfast was supreme. I brought my road bike and had a problem with my front derailleur; luckily one of the owners is a big cycling fan and an ex-mechanic. He fixed my bike and I was able to cycle the next day in this beautiful region. Both owners are very friendly and welcoming. I fully recommend the place and it will be my first option next time I am visiting the region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious, especially the baked goods and the jams. Very interesting history and a very good location for Spa, Malmedy and the museums.
Cons: I had difficulty withdrawing cash at the local bank and supermarket with my USA bank card and credit card so be prepared when you go and make sure you have access to the cash that you need.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The appart was very spacious and nice, clean and we had a lot of privacy. The wifi was working well.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was more of a flat then a room. Very good space. The bathroom were also very nice.
Cons: The bed were too hard. We know that is common outside the nordic countries... but too hard. And we would like one more pillow in bed, more equipment like forks, knifes, glases and so on. The internet were also very slow.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What a lovely place. The room is located on the top floor, but there is plenty of space there, separate room for the telly, a really nice bathroom (great shower!) and a large, comfortable bed. The house itself is located bang in the middle of Stavelot, so everything is just a few minutes away on foot. The host is really nice and really helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place, I stayed here for almost a week and I loved all of it.
Cons: It's an old house, that has recently been refurbished and most of the old beams have been saved - but they are quite low. So be prepared if you are taller than 180cm. I liked staying here so much that I didn't mind it but be prepared.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean room. Good shower and cheap price
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very nice !
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What a great place just steps from the abbey! The guest room turned out to be an appartment with lots of privacy, a great bed, a superb shower, nice views of the valley and a nice breakfast on our floor for a few extra Euros. The owners were friendly and very easy-going.
7.0 Good
Pros: room was like a little appartment on the second floor, wirh a steep wooden stair …. Not for older people or people with medical problems
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old building, with suite of rooms on 2nd floor. All oak beams and white plaster. Very comfortable, with excellent breakfast. The owner is very helpful and pleasant, and speaks excellent English. Restaurants just a short walk away.
Cons: Parking was a bit of a lottery, but the town was built before cars were invented, so not bad really.

9.3 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff Nicely designed rooms and restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the rooms and the roof top terrace.
Cons: Definitely could do with air conditioning on the ground floor - only because we were reluctant to leave the door open and we happened to be staying during the heatwave of 2019. No big thing however as I am sure it’s normally the perfect temperature! Still a 10/10 from me as no one can predict the weather!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and more than helpful. The restaurant menu is fantastic, very well prepared and served. Meals can be had in the beautiful appointed dining room or on the terrace overlooking a well designed and metculate maintained garden. Also excellent breakfast with a wide choice of local products.
Cons: We stayed during the hottest June days. There was no airco in the room, so we had to leave the windows open. Our sleep was then disturbed by the lumber trucks roaring past. During our stay the garden had its main maintenance. A lot of loud gardentools around.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was very big and comfortable. Staff was excellent, very polite and consumer oriented. Facilities were great, the sauna and hamman were great. Restaurant is amazing with an extra touch of local food and great ambient.
Cons: Our bathroom was very spacious but it could have a better shower structure as in the spa area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the restaurant and the staff, who tried to make our stay the best one possible. The facilities were very good in the residence we stayed. A small hammam and sauna are available for the guests. The location is good for walks in the area. Plus they allow dogs both in the residence and in the restaurant, which we very much welcomed.
Cons: There were no tea and coffee available in the room, which is a nice treat after long walks.

Pros: We were stuck with our car when we arrived on friday evening. At first the host said "not my problem, you fix it". But on saturday morning he did try to help us get it out of the mud. (We didn't manage to do it, but I called the leasing company to get the car out.) The hostess was very lovely, also the breakfast was yummy! We had dinner and lunch in Le Vert de Pommier and it was very cosy there! We also did a walk of 9km starting from there: great walk!
Cons: We asked for a double bed but we got 2 single beds and 2 single duvets. The host told us the TV should be turned off after 23:00, that was a bit weird.
9.5 Excellent

Cons: Na
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Tolle Front Desk Personal. Housekeeping was very good. Room are functional and modern but rather very dark.
Cons: The restaurant is not so good. Breakfast has not fresh coffee, instead a funny machine. Not much variety considering the price of staying, it does not match. Restaurant has never been good, and the prices are not in relation of the food (sometimes meat comes raw...) If you want to ask something to room service, it takes ages and is very disappointing. Again, considering the prices of the staying, is not good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: As I was visiting to take part in a track day at Spa, the hotel couldn't be better positioned. The room was excellent, though I couldn't find a bottle opener to take advantage of the 4 x free drinks in the mini-bar. Only 1 cup of tea was possible also, and no biscuits. The bed was huge, 7ft across, and very comfortable. The bathroom was also huge and spotlessly clean. The scrambled eggs were really nice at breakfast.
Cons: Lack of bottle-opener for free drinks in mini-bar. Only 1 cup of English tea possible. Breakfast still not quite English standard as the sausages weren't the best and the potato (grits?) weren't cooked well enough as they were crunchy. The scrambled eggs were really nice though.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Top quality hotel in a great location very close to the Spa circuit. Room, bathroom, reception, bar, restaurant, grounds etc all lovely and clean with quality fixtures and fittings. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at Sol Magnus. We wanted to go away on a weekend retreat for the New Year to celebrate in a quiet location and enjoy the fresh air of the Ardennes. We were a party of three (a couple and one other family member) and the apartment was perfect for our needs. There are two separate, large bedrooms, a convenient bathroom with separate toilet and a great shower and also a small seating area with a TV / refrigerator that we could make use of. Anything we could wish for really! Breakfast was provided downstairs and shared with the very kind hosts. Everything was plentiful, fresh bread and a selection of qualify meats, fish, cheese and sweet products. On New Years Day we even had a slice of apple pie, delicious! They really cater to everything you need and even provided a cup of tea and fruit for my sister who was not feeling well and was not able to attend the second breakfast. Our French is not good but it was still very well possible to communicate in English / Dutch and a French mixture. Location is great for walks and dinners and the hosts were very communicative as well - we highly recommend this B&B!

Pros: It's our third time back. Perfect location, you must have a mean of transportation other than walking though (so a car, bike, motorcycle, horse, etc...). Great to visit the grandprix tracks, also the city of Spa and surroundings.
Cons: Restaurant missed more vegetarian options, just a suggestion!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is super cosy, spotlessly clean and has a great design, being located in the old stables, which obviously went through excellent renovation. The breakfast was superb, great choice, very nice staff, stylish breakfast room. We really enjoyed our weekend stay! and the location is really convenient to get to Spa or go for a hike.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: great location good breakfast large room clean
Cons: not a great curtain - a lot of light in the room mattress needs replacement

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good. The connected restaurant was very nice with a good menu and a lively feel to it. The pool, buildings and grounds were very pretty.
Cons: Pillows were a bit flat.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with plenty to choose from and the restaurant was good.
6.8 Good
Pros: Modern and clean apartment. The apartment itself is really comfortable, with a great kitchen, shower/bath and beds. The breakfast is great too!
Cons: Although the apartment has everything you need, it’s right above the restaurant which results in a very noisy apartment. The kitchen closes at 21:00, but on 1 night it was not before midnight before all the guest left. In the morning, at 08:00 the cleaning of the restaurant starts and during the morning the music goes on again. Because the apartment is situated right on the corner of the road that goes into the village, it’s rarely quiet and relaxing. To us the swimming pool looked murky (like it had been standing still for a while) and dirty; although the hotel told us there was nothing wrong with the pool, it just looked not very appealing to swim in. The next day, the pool was closed. Although the hotel offered to open the pool, we were not feeling comfortable enough to swim in it. We booked this apartment for the swimming pool, so that was a bit of a disappointment.. It’s such a pity, because the apartment itself is perfect, the breakfast is great, but the swimming pool and the sound disturbance outweighed the whole score.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice restaurant. Close to the racetrack. Interesting remains from WW II at nearby museum.
Cons: Room a little bit small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartment is equipped with everything you need for your stay. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was a plus, all fresh and delicious. Staff was very friendly.

Pros: The room was very nice and comfortable. We had plenty of space. The bathroom downstairs is strange at first, but you get used to it and it's no problem at all. Very close to spa and the circuit ofcourse. The lady was very friendly and she gave us some great advice about what we could visit next. The view in the morning was also incredible.
Cons: The breakfast was perfectly fine, but personally, we missed some fruit and yoghurt. Not a compaint, just a tip.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, fridge in room, complimentary hot bewerages available all time. It is possible to walk to circuit.
Cons: A noise from street might be bothersome in morning.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very convenient for Spa Francochamps Circuit over the F1 GP weekend. We parked the car at the B&B and cycled the last few miles. Owners very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I am embarrassed by how much I paid. I don’t think I have ever paid €400 per night for even a 5 star hotel. While we had exclusive use of a bathroom, it was not en-suite and I hadn’t realised this when we booked. I assume that at other times the rates will be far more reasonable and if I was going back for another non-F1 weekend I would stay there again as it is so convenient for the Stavelot entrance.
Overview Reviews
Located in a historic train station hotel, B&B-Restaurant Porte de la Lienne dates back to 1880 and offers an authentic atmosphere in this beautiful valley. There is a restaurant with a large and small menu card where guests can eat with a reservation. The Porte De La Lienne echoes its location, at the point where the River Lienne flows into the River Amblève. This B&B provides you with romantic guest rooms, classic elegance and a wonderful setting. Weather permitting, the garden is a great place to sit out and enjoy the fresh air. On cold days, the wood-burning stove offers warmth and a nice ambience for having a drink inside. Pros: Great people in a nice atmosphere. Very old and genuine building. Dinner and breakfast were amazing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were super helpful. It was a lovely place to stay and the food was great too. Our room was really lovely with plenty of space.
Cons: This is a difficult question as it was very good. It would have been great if we could have had a TV in the room. We also found the bed a little uncomfortable but that may have been because it was a double bed and we usually sleep in a superking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The wonderful home cooked food and cozy feel of the place. Also a little known history shared by Frank the proprietor on how Joachim Peiper's panzer column was stopped in a battle only a couple hundred yards away. Bullet holes are still visible in the masonry!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, great food and Frank & Mary are the two most welcoming hosts you could ever meet, great weekend and I would love to stay there again next year!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Only the pillows
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very modern, urban feel. Very ensign lead. Lovely breakfast
Cons: Bigger towels, more pillows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality and lovely breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and nice new bathroom
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is mid city center. The entrance of the hotel looks a bit strange but it is arty. You enter via the restaurant area. The owner/chef loves to cook. His dinner is fine although the total price quickly adds up. The breakfast is authentic. Arty atmosphere and decoration this hotel, only the resto area and toilets, the rooms are a bit disappointing in design and cosyness. Helas. Public toilets have very peculiar designs :) be aware because you could get excited, or not, anyway you experience it.
Cons: For this price the luxury and comfort could be better. The room is quite ordinary and the facilities are fine. A large staircase, no elevator if people require this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good, yummy jams. Bathroom spacious and modern. Bed was comfy. The owner was really pleasant. Stavelot is a pretty villiage.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly comfortable small hotel with colourful decor, large bright top-floor room/suite with a view, over quaint half-timbered houses in a quiet cobbled street, to the green hills beyond. Tasty continental breakfast served at your table, great croissants, delicious local ham and cheese, and a boiled egg if you want one. Stavelot is a very pretty little town full of flowers, cobbled squares and historic buildings, and surprisingly well equipped - with a fabulous outdoor public pool (50m, heated, not busy!) and an immaculately renovated cinema showing a variety of films in FR and original language.
Cons: Nothing really! I'm glad I brought earplugs (I always do) as while the street isn't busy, cobbles always magnify any traffic noise, there were a few weekend revellers, and the hotel's heavy fire doors and wooden stairs might make the hallways a bit noisy. The top floor room was much roomier than the lower floor one I was initially offered. I was late arriving and also a bit late for breakfast which I felt a bit guilty about - this is not a 24h chain hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had room on top, floor which had lots of light from windows and good size. Evening meal and breakfast was fine. Very courteous owner... Carried my bags down all the stairs in morning! Town is well worth a night stop over. Safe place for our bikes overnight and very courteous about an earlier check in.
Cons: All was good!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice small hotel, friendly owner, comfortable beds and good shower. Breakfast also perfect!

Cons: . Middle of nowhere . No shop open at night .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good and varied. Tea or coffee, fresh orange juice and they even had home-made marmelade. Staff did their best to speak Dutch which was nice. They also gave us some good recommendations for hiking and dining.
Cons: We had tea and coffee on the first day and did not get it restocked for the other two days. Also no new towels or making the bed, but it's not a hotel it is a B&B so maybe they don't enter the rooms during your stay.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Very good food, delicious cheese and teas, lovely presentation of all. Very cozy place and amazing landscape in the surroundings.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfortable, food and service 5*. Nice garden. They catered for my vegetarian and special needs so well!
Cons: The room had little decoration. All that was there was of good quality and good taste, but it felt a bit barren. Also, after breakfast the living areas are closed off and unless you sit in your room there's no place to relax.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: fantastic breakfast very kind and nice staff
Cons: singular blankets in the double bed and too soft pillows (but this is something very frequent in North of Europe). The combination of the bath in the bedroom and the shower and the toilet together in the bathroom was not pragmatic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully renovated old mansion with gorgeous bathrooms and a knockout large garden!!! All the staff were incredibly friendly and professional with a special shout out for Lourence who made our stay even more special! Fantastic breakfast and well worth staying in for the evening dinner and wine arrangement. First class!!
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice three course menu in the evening, breakfast also very good! Nice location in quite environment
Cons: Opportunity to purchase drinks outside restaurant hours should be better, price for drinks from the central fridge is not acceptable compared to the overal rest
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice room and bathroom good breakfast very calm
Cons: Nobody there for check in or during the night Stuffed dead fox as a first impression?
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room was amazing. Two floors with bedroom below and Bathroom above with nice bath and separate shower. Location was nice for being in the middle of nowhere. Bed super comfy and quiet all around, so had an amazing night sleep both nights (when we managed to get in the property - see below). Staff was very nice (when they were there).
Cons: At the time of arrival there was nobody there to greet us (even though it was specified from 4 - 8pm, we arrived at 7 and all doors were locked. After figuring out for a good 15 minutes one of the doors was not locked, with our keys lying there on their own in an envelope with some message in French that neither of us understood (some greeting we assumed). Nobody from the staff speaks other language than French, so all our communication was with signs and body language. Breakfast was good and plenty, even though served a little bit early from our point of view. 9:30 was just a tad early for us, so had to wake up early just for it (we just were very tired from the day before and wanted to stay in bed a bit longer, lazy us, I know). Bedroom: - There was a clear lack of cleaning in there. You could see a good amount of dust, specially under the bed. Dead flies everywhere, first day in the room sofa, second day there was like 5-6 by the window. Didn't bother us, but can do to some people. - Towels smelled very very very bad. As if they have been used too many times and just smelled very unpleasant, a mix between old, smelly and not washed properly. We didn't have a chance to change them, as discussed above, there was nobody there from the staff to turn to when we arrived in the evening. -No privacy in the shower. I was ok being a man, but the window in the shower lacking on any curtain or sort of protection from being seen outside was a bit annoying for my girlfriend having to shower and keep an eye on always looking away from the window. ------ - We arrive after our first day out, again, all doors locked, nobody is inside, no staff visible, nowhere to get in. The only phone number you have available from either the lettering outside the hotel or booking.com was just a voicemail, after a good 20 minutes looking around and talking to neighbours, it started to rain, so we got into our car and called booking.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. The chef brought his own eggs from home from his free range chickens and they were delicious! there was fresh baked bread and local cheeses and meats. The atmosphere was great and the house is beatiful and rooms are decorated in style. Perfect for a romantic getaway.
7.5 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room we had was a good size. There was a large choice at breakfast including champagne.
Cons: Very poor communication. We had booked dinner for the Friday night arrival and were not told until we checked in that the chef had decided to cancel dinner that night and book us into the following night!! We had just travelled for 12 hours and that meant we were forced to drive to the nearest town to find food. If we had been told before we arrived we could have stopped en route!
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was very nice. Quiet and peaceful (except for the 1st night when outside neighbours were noisy). The golden faucet and details in the bathroom were stunning and the shower was very nice. The highlight was the breakfast which had all types of teas, breads, spreads (cheese, meats), pies and a nice variety of things to eat. Nice coffee and very lovely breakfast sitting area which overlooks the garden.
Cons: There was no airconditioning or a fan. Luckily it got a bit colder in the evening because the hotel is in the hills. But a fan woul have been nice at least or a small refrigerator so we could have cold water with the smouldering hot weather during our stay. There were some stains on the sofas that were covered with a blanket, which seemed like a quick fix. Stains on one side of the wall could have been cleaned or painted over. There was a lamp hanging above the bed but there was no switch for it. The toilet had a loose hanging part which looked sloppy. They could have changed the towels when I left it on the bathroom floor. But instead they hung it back up. I had to email the owner to replace it the 2nd night. Which they manage to do after. There were also holes in our bed sheets. Upon arrival there was only coffee available for the in room waterboiler (no tea). And there was dust and spiderwebs hanging all over the lights and some of the corners of the room and under the beds. For a €110 per night you would expect to get at least clean towels and a proper clean room. It is in the details that a hotel as this one should aim for but lacked. If the hotel could spent some more time on cleaning the place better, providing proper towels/sheets and making sure light facilites were working, I would definitely recommend this place much more.
