Location (views and proximity to other services) and staff were great. Small issue; There was no 'do not disturb' sign in room.
We are 2 couples who did select an overnight stay at this property mid August, (since we could not get into Tofino). The (adjoining) rooms arespacious and tastefully furnished . The view of the rugget pacific ocean is amazing. We even spotted whales, a very pleasant surprise! The bathroom amenities with deep modern tubs and seperate shower are a' treat'! Our dinner at the inhouse dining room matched the general high qualitty of the amenities with good food and an innovative menu. We were impressed with the overall efficiency and pleasant service of the staff. ( not often found in a brand new hotel) Unfortunately our schedule did not permit to stay longer, but we will definitely be back again and can highly recommend Black Rock to anyone enjoying a bit of refined luxury and pampering.
I loved the way that this resort 'fits' into its rocky beach location.... the natural materials used in construction, the relaxing/natural color schemes, access to the Wild Pacific Trail. The staff was always available and always helpful. The restaurant was top-notch with an unrivaled view. Despite the wedding parties in residence, we heard absolutely no noise after bedtime. The bathrooms are gorgeous. If you visit, be sure to book the Archepelago boat tour - it was incredible!
We really were looking for a place to enjoy the ocean and sunsets. This is our second time at Blackrock since January and we have not only found this to be a fantastic place to enjoy nature, but also great hospitality, dining and a starting point for exploring the incredible surrounding area. You really must try the Wild Pacific Trail! Whatever the weather, Blackrock gives you amazing views and lots of room to sit outside or by the fireplace on those rainy days. There's an amazing view and lots of room to kick back and relax inside. We stayed in a studio in one of the cottages and found we had plenty of room to cook when we wanted to (there's even a dishwasher!), sit by the fire or enjoy our own patio. We also watched a couple of movies on the huge flat screen - so consider bringing those dvds you haven't had a chance to watch yet if you end up staying inside or when recovering from a hike! The rates were incredilbly good and the staff took the time to make sure our stay was top notch. The resort is brand new so the spa wasn't open this time around but it sure looks like it will be worth it to come back in a couple of weeks for the spa opening. We've stayed at Long Beach Lodge and the Wickinnish in Tofino but prefer Blackrock - it is definitely worth your while to give it a try.
