9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cozy ancient hotel surrounded by nature, free private parking. Delicious breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building was historically interesting and well appointed. It was in a very quiet location near a small village. It was chosen as an ideal stopping place on our journey across France from Switzerland. One of the main plus points was the fact that dinner was available, and exceeded our expectations.
Cons: There was nothing which disappointed .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is lovely and the staff charming. Our room was in the main property and not your average square box hotel room. It was full of character but still very comfortable and had a very nice and good sized bathroom. The weather was very good whilst we were there so we used the pool which was a real treat. It is located across the courtyard in the old derelict cement factory on the first floor. Whilst this does not sound that nice it is great. You go up a set of metal stairs to the pool area which is in the open air. There is plenty of seating and loungers, towels are provided and there are nice views. The pool was also a perfect temperature. We would definitely stay at the property again if in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The chateaux was beyond our expectations. Our hosts were very helpful and charming. We had the most amazing meal at the property with other guests and we thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings and pool. A perfect final night of our holiday.

Pros: Beautiful maison in peaceful surroundings.
Cons: Perhaps looking a little ‘tired’ in places with just too many ‘objet d’art’
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Decoration is nice which gives experience great experience for our stay.
Cons: The heater in the bathroom was too hot and I could not adjust it.

7.1 Good
Pros: We went to Chateau Vault de Lugny several years ago and were so impressed with the location, food, facilities & service but when we went back we were disappointed with the current owners. The changes they have made make it far from special. Rooms, room services and cleanliness still nice, beds great.
Cons: Food, menus, breakfasts, food service, chef. Small food; uninspiring meals. We had to sit outside and were attacked by flies for the duration of meals. This could be dealt with by electronic fly killers. It seemed unhygienic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and gardens. Great pool. Friendly staff. They organised us a fantastic wine tour. Very relaxed setting. Lots of places to visit.
Cons: Restaurant had a limited menu and food was a bit heavy for me. Catered well for my husband who is gluten free. I’m not vegetarian but would have liked à vegetarian option to choose from. Service in restaurant was very slow. No flight of wines with tasting menu.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is really no way to rate this Chateau as though it is a normal hotel. It isn't. It is a little piece of magic that seems to exist outside of time and space and to reflect every fairy tale or old movie one could get lost in. From the peacocks and dogs to the 14th-Century tower to the moat and grassy grounds, it is just indescribable. We had stayed at the Chateau 20 years ago, and returned because it stayed in our hearts. The second time around was even more startlingly perfect. Enchanted place, with kind, friendly staff and terrific owners.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing not to like about this incredible place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is an authentic beautiful chateau, run with precision by the owner. The breakfast served in our magnificent bedroom was superb. The bath is deep and huge. The grounds are a delight. The beds are superb. It is quiet and romantic and enchanting. It is truly French and rare.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gated chateau with beautiful grounds. It was quite an experience staying here, we felt like princesses and the staff was super courteous, the bar and dining room incredibly charming. Look forward to being able to return for a romantic getaway with my husband.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is magical. Beautiful and peaceful. It's like Disneyland.
Cons: Need a little adjustment and install water hose at restroom for cleaning. Arab visitors need that.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Really nice staff. The food was excellent. Only criticism would be the price for everything is very high
7.1 Good
Pros: Very elegant Chateau
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is fabulous, the restaurant outstanding. It just received the first Michelin star but it's absolutely deserved. It was better than one with two stars where we dines two nights later.
Cons: The rooms are getting a bit dated but perfectly clean, plus it adds to the charm of the chateau.
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Abbaye de Reigny - Esprit de France in Vermenton, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Plage de Vermenton and Caves of Arcy-sur-Cure. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: only when we called to announce a late arrival did we realise that this was a B&B-place without restaurant. However, as we were cycling and it was late, the residental owners spontaneously offered to prepare some meal for us, which turned out as very nice home-cooking, and much better than we would have expected under those circumstances.
Cons: mistakingly we thought that we could access the site from the forest footpath, but this turned out to be wrong. In fact, not only is there no descending path from the forest, but there is also a river in between. Our mistake, not to be blamed on the guesthouse! Note that breakfast is served around a large communal table in a historic room, so no privatge tables for 2 or 4; not necessarily a problem, though, more a matter of preference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms, we stayed in the coco Chanel suite which was decorated in 30s style We were lucky to join the hosting family for dinner together with other guests which was a great experience Great facilities on site, a pool and even a river A tour around the site by the hostess
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Louis-Marie and Béatrice were the perfect hosts. They provided us with a perfect lunch on arrival and we felt part of the family. They also proposed a lovely restaurant in Accolay and personally provided transport. The Abbaye is in the perfect rural setting. Highly recommended.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great coffee, great bread, juice, plentiful continental breakfast. The host is a visual artist, original sculptures and other fascinating works on display. We had the entire second floor, including a separate meditation room, everything was so artistically done, immaculate and spacious. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, with an ancient water mill. Dinner was delicious
7.1 Good
Cons: Room really small!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The photos that lured us here were so deceptive. Thought the property was going to be quaint, rustic, charming but nothing could be further from the truth. The rooms felt like a college dorm - austere and small. Am unaware if there is another building with charming rooms. Also avoid their own label overpriced red wine - one would think that all Burgundy wines would be delicious but their wine is only suitable for using in a pasta sauce. The town of Vezelay has a lot of charm but Avallon does not have much to offer.

7.9 Good
Pros: Very central with pubs / restaurants a 2 minute walk. Very nice lady with decent English running the place. Comfy & clean. Off street, free, parking in a locked courtyard
Cons: My room had no window & the bathroom window opened into a stairwell with a glass roof so very warm in sunny weather. Probably why the room had 3 fans !

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Top location, spacious room, comfortable beds, great breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, charming, and lively large bathroom
6.3 Good
Cons: I would have liked to be informed about the irregular restaurant closure on Wednesday night as far in advance as possible, not upon arrival. In a small town with few restaurants this is a major change. In the end I drove 17 km to go eat on unfamiliar country roads which I would have liked to avoid at night. The receptionist could have cared less. The room I had was facing the street and close to the entrance. Only ok with closed windows and ear plugs. Never again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A little dated but comfortable hotel.Good sized room.
Cons: Restaurant shut on Monday nights. Also menu was quite limited.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Guy on reception when we arrived very late was a real tonic and cheered us up after a very long journey, I wish I had noted his name he was great. Room was lovely and breakfast was good. Will return for longer stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms/dining room/garden /views/staff. Beautiful suroyndings/tranquil.
Cons: Would have liked proper shower in bathroom.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and view
Cons: Overwhelmed staff during a busy weekend
7.1 Good
Pros: Good value for 4 with a large seperate room for our kids, the space around the house was nice for the kids to run and play after a day in the car. Breakfast was interesting (traditional sweet cheese and home made apple-compote as a start) and plentiful. Vezelay is quite near as well as the Morvan nature parc so location is good. I chose the hotel to have a car parc and that worked well since the hotel has its own large parking.
Cons: The place has suffered the toll of years. Its style is what one once though was luxury, but looks crummy today. The garden is in disrepair, although it could be made to look great. The tone of management was a bit brisk and made you feel you better not try something wrong. The bath is not practical, you can't take showers since it's open and has a huge plant at the back.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very quick check-in and check-out process. The place looks exactly as in the pictures and the sceenery is ideal for a weekend surrounded by nature. Plus the facilities are super clean. If you are around the area I totally recommend it.
Cons: Communication through telephone was a little bit difficult though but we managed to understand each other.

Pros: The hotel was easy to find and Eric the proprietor was very friendly. The accommodation and facilities were great and we all said we would stay at Les Capucins Hotel again.
Cons: The egg boiling machine was not hot enough at took ages to half cook an egg. But that's all I can find to moan about.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a beautiful old building located near the center of Avallon and the rooms are well appointed. Loved the dining room‘s set up and the lovely paintings on the walls. Breakfast was also sumptuous.
Cons: No smiling faces to welcome us, or serve breakfast or processing our check out
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome. Easy to find in Avalon and not far from the motorway. Town centre location. Good breakfast. Typical french hotel and not a chain hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice city hotel in the beautiful region of burgundy. The place was comfortable, the breakfast was great and we enjoyed our stay.
Cons: The room at floor level lacks a bit of privacy as it was directly on the restaurant terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great and convenient. The location was perfect...close to the city center and train! The staff was perfect, especially Patrice, Emily and Leo. The young ladies who cleaned our room worked very hard and my sister and I appreciate it.

Pros: The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The room, with its little balcony looking over the vineyards was cozy and comfortable. The breakfast in the lovely terrace view room was tasty and had several options and great coffee. The dinner at the restaurant next door, The Black Horse, was absolutely fabulous- great food, excellent staff, beautiful room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: It is definitely a funky hotel. The toilet seat was not bolted to the bowl, we got tissues instead of toilet paper, the internet was spotty
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stayed for one night to visit the Abbaye and Cathedral. The location was excellent - at the base of the hill of the old town - a short walk (or drive) to the top. There was convenient free parking in front of the hotel. The room was good and comfortable, could use some updating, but adequate for our stay. The breakfast was good and substantial and worth the additional price.
Cons: As mentioned, the rooms could use some updating, but the price we paid was fair.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property is on the edge of this major tourist destination but within about 15 minutes' walk of the famous Basilica. We were warmly welcomed and were invited to leave our cycles in a downstairs corridor. There was a good breakfast.
Cons: The price, for a prime tourist destination, was very reasonable and I would not therefore want to suggest that anything should have been better than it was.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was a comfortable queen size bed with comfy pillows. Excellent shower with plenty of hot water. Had a door that opened to an outdoor garden where you could sit to enjoy your afternoon drinks.
Cons: Parking was available at front of hotel but staff did not inform you that you had to pay at a parking machine down the road. Also it would not accept our credit cards or euro bills. Hotel could not exchange bills for coins. However they took care of our ticket that we received.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was fabulous. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Room was small. Bathroom needed A little bit of tile work—bit shabby. But for a short stay this is good value and I would return.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, Convenient first floor room, Breakfast room on main floor has lovely view.
Cons: I received a confirmation of double room with twin beds for an agreed upon fee. On arrival, was told that that was no longer available but could be accommodated in another room. I told the concierge that I was told nothing about this. He provided the original room for the original fee. A few hours later I received the email telling me that the room that had originally been confirmed was no longer available but another room at the same cost would be provided. Just created awkwardness at check-in.

Cons: It was a little dated in decor
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I travelled with two children, around the Moulin there is a beautiful forest, the location is really pretty. the family room was confortable and wide enough. Beautiful bathroom. the location was very quiet and the view from the rooms pretty with the mill and the forest. The fact that there is a restaurant is handy because the Moulin is a bit off track (one needs a car to go eat somewhere else). Breakfast nice and varied.
Cons: I am not totally happy with the dinner. Wine was very nice and the soup delicious but the meat in main courses (mine and the children's) was a little overcooked and hard. it is a shame because the restaurant is very pretty and the personnel super kind !
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, down at the creek. Excellent for wandering
Cons: The room was clearly advertised with a bath tub, we got a room with a small bathroom with only a shower
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, quiet location, lots of charm, nice restaurant, good service and food, helpful reception. Nice to have tea kettle in room.
Cons: annoying background music in restaurant.
8.8 Excellent

Cons: Refurbishment shall goes on (bathroom, terrace floor) Dinner food was fair (excepot wine and cheese just fantastic...), but value for money was poor Breakfast room was a bit sad, but I trust could easily be improved

7.1 Good
Pros: We went to Chateau Vault de Lugny several years ago and were so impressed with the location, food, facilities & service but when we went back we were disappointed with the current owners.
