Quintessential Countryside Inn with fabulous strolls around a ruined castle across the street and first rate dining fare. The George at Nunney and Hever Castle book-ended a storybook holiday for us from the USA to the UK. There was nothing here not to like.
The room was very very small there was no space for my laptop to go,when in bed you cannot see thge tv as the tv is 2 low no tea and coffee in room there was no soap in the bathroom or bin there was no were to put your toiletries in the bathroom. Who ever designed these newly fitted rooms as obviously not slept in one.
The Hotel had an excellent restaurant and Spa. The room we stayed in was of a very high standard. Very little. It was a pitty the outside pool was closed for refurbishment. Also access to this outside pool looked tricky without crossing the garden.
Food and room excellent. Spa area a bit confusing to navigate. Nice countryside and staff attentive.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting. It is very comfortable and the staff are most helpful. We attended a private dining function and the food, wine and service were all excellent. We both enjoyed the Spa -especially the outdoor pool.We only stayed for one night but would love to visit again. The upgrade to a suite was a great surprise and most enjoyable!!
Good location Nobody on reception as all serving in the pub. I would not class thiss as a hotel and it is by no means a four star. Has to take my children into the pub to get a member of the bar staff to check me in. Very poor and the description you offered does not make this obviously. Would have never booked this hotel if the description of it was accurate
The food was very good and the prices reasonable this was evident in how busy the place was, and very friendly young staff. We thought the beds and pillows were rather uncomfortable, and the fact that there was a party going on on both the nights that we were there insured that we didn't get much sleep! It might be good policy to warn guests about that sort of thing.
Nice Room Location very noisy and very small portions at breakfast
All excellent None
We stopped at this hotel on our trip to longleat which is literally a 5 minute drive away. The facilities were basic but the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was cooked to order which was very good. The only criticism was that I thought it was perhaps a little over priced for the for the facilities available. However this wouldn't put me off stopping at this hotel again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and responded to any of our queries immediately. When we first arrived there was some confusion over our room as we were a family of 4 and had not been booked into a family room as we had requested. This was soon resolved to our satisfaction, but did cause a few moments of anxiety.
The food was outstanding and the staff incredibly welcoming. The setting is beautiful and overall I would definitely recommend the George Inn to friends. None.
Dinner at the pub was the highlight. The home cooked ham melted in your mouth and the beef stew with dumplings was exceptionally good.
Excellent room, very clean and spacious, very nice en suite. Loads of easy parking which was great. Good atmosphere in the pub downstairs. English breakfast was fab. I was a bit chilly overnight (even with the extra blanket) as they turned off all the heating, however I did appear to be the only resident.
Good very pleasant staff Friendly pub Booking lost in compurter failure Matress old had a rubber smell Rooms very noisy from wedding reception
Big comfortable bed and nice country location.
Friendly staff and good food. Nice and peaceful countryside location. I prefer staying in a place with a bit of character, as this 17th century inn had.
We loved the friendly welcome. The attempt to make us comfortable and the general atmosphere. Charming! The only slight niggle, if I am being really "picky" were the dreadful pillows.. They were small, and rather "worn"
stairs up to bedrooms
Food was excellent Room extremely comfortable Staff very friendly None!
The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent Everything was great, the decor of the breakfast room could be improved.
When we arrived the reception was not in use, so we had to wander down the corridor until we found someone! The rooms were situated away from the main building in chalet style wooden buildings. The rooms were freezing; the heating was on time and didnt come on until 5.30pm, although we were told 4.30pm, which on a cold March day you dont want to hear! There was no electricity downstairs in challet where our room was, which made going upstairs in the dark very dangerous. We informed Reception who did not seem worried!! There were no numbers on the doors so you had to try all 3 rooms until you found your one! The pillows on the bed were in desperate need of being relaced. The food was pricy and very badly cooked: either oozing in fat or completely undercooked.
Firstly they were very friendly and welcomed us with our dogs. The evening meals we took were very well done, with plenty on the plate. We felt it was a bit 'tired'. In need of some deep cleaning and decoration, but given it was towards the end of the season maybe that was on the agenda for them to do anyway.
Friendly staff, nice rooms, good atmosphere, interesting place
Comfartable rooms. Friendly staff. Good food.
