breakfast described as "continental" however it was hearty and included eggs, meat, hot oatmeal, and potatoes as well as the usual fruit, danish, & yogurt. room was quiet and comfortable, bed excellent. individual climate control in room. pre-dinner wine hour in comfortable library, plus cookies, water, coffee, tea, apples always available and assorted sundries available for purchase. free bikes to borrow if you are so inclined! location perfect for Smithsonian museums, Library of Congress, Folger Library, and the delightful Capitol Hill & Eastern Market neighborhoods. staff friendly and helpful. mini-kitchen in room with microwave, coffee/tea maker, a small supply of silverware & a corkscrew (a thoughtful touch). L'Occitane toiletries in the bathroom, terrycloth robes ready in closet.
the breakfast room was a little warm, but it was indeed a warm morning and the breakfast room was full of guests.
Great location, low key
Nice Hotel in DC
They had an excellent gym. The staff was helpful and friendly.
I love the location, free breakfast and most importantly the service.
Great Homebase for Visitors!
The hotel is located just steps from the Capitol and Library of Congress, and the Capitol South Metro stop. It was a great location, with a good selection of restaurants and cafes within a couple blocks. The hotel provides a great breakfast spread in a building adjacent to the main building, so be aware that you may have to walk a bit to get to breakfast in the morning if you are staying in the main building. Food included: oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage, bread/bagels/muffins, fruit (apples/bananas), coffee, tea, and a selection of juices. While I never took part, the hotel also offers a wine hour from 5-6pm in the main building. They also provide free 24-hour tea/coffee/hot chocolate and a selection of sundries in the main building.
The bathroom in the Junior Suite was rather small and did not have a window that opened, so it did get a bit stuffy after a hot shower. The television generally worked, but some of the channels would go out every now and then. Wifi required you to log in multiple times a day, which was frustrating.
Bathroom was a little small
Large room, comfy bed, friendly and accomodating staff-they let us check out late, valet parking until 6 pm the next day even if you check out that day, breakfast was good though the room is crowded so get there early or be prepared to grab something quick
Capitol hill hotel is a great place to stay if you are touring DC. Very close to a metro stop, and only about a 20 minute walk to the mall. Great food on Pennsylvania Ave just minutes away also. Well maintained, the staff were helpful and professional.
The only inconvenience I had while staying is there was only one ice machine on the ground floor. Other than that, it was great.
Breakfast, gym, and location
We liked the clean decor and the layout of the room. Breakfast was outstanding.
I can't think of anything that we didn't like.
Location was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Very Clean. Nice breakfast included.
Rooms didn't have adequate plugs. Bathrooms cramped and door didn't close, so no privacy if traveling with anyone.
Perfect spot for Capitol Hill Business
I first chose the Capitol Hill Hotel for its location. I was one block from not only the metro station, but also the Capitol Legislative Office Buildings. This hotel more than met my expectations. The staff was very friendly and accomidating. My room did not feel like a standard hotel room. It was set up as a small studio apartment which made me feel much more at home. Everything was modern and beautiful. I will definitly be staying here for all of my business trips to Capitol Hill.
Spectacular rooms for the price! I will forever stay here when visiting D.C.
Not child safe and the view...not much to see looking out the windows.
primitive staff. I asked for two beds and they forced me to pay for the second. If this was not possible to have the second bed for free there should be information sent to me on this. It was late to tell me about this when I already got there.
Location, location! Close to Capitol hill and the Metro. The staff helped me recover important documents and money left in an open safe.
The increase in price for our third night.
you can go on foot to all the musea
in the morning the light was coming through ...
I don't think that the sheets on my bed had been changed between the last guests and my arrival. I don't require that they be changed frequently during my own stay, but the should be changed between guests. Also, the place had a general "aging" atmosphere about it.
location is great in terms of access to metro, restaurant and cafes; Area feels safe; reasonably priced
it is pretty run down and for a stay longer than a couple of nights this may be a bit annoying.
The location of the hotel and ease of getting around the city using the METRO that was a block from the hotel.
The general atmosphere is agreeable and the employees are competent. The woman in charge of the breakfast room is especially pleasant and helpful.
Great location. Very spacious room, loved the walk-in wardrobe, good option for anyone staying more than a couple of nights
Bathroom needing refurbishment (I believe that this is about to happen as part of an upgrade). Pillows quite small - more like cushions - not especially comfortable
