Hotel facilities were very nice, location is perfect for going to GW. The staff were very helpful, I had a problem with the reservation, as even though I booked the reservation using getroom.com, it was not found in the hotel's records. I spent an hour on the phone with getaroom and the hotel staff to get it resolved. They recommended that I use Hotels Tonight instead.
One comment, the cleaning staff woke us up at 8AM to ask us what time we wanted the room cleaned. I thought that was a little weird... would generally prefer they just come when we're not there.
Clean, friendly staff
Morning coffee ( that was free!) was horrible
We enjoyed our stay at The Melrose very much. The room was great. The location was perfect, close to Georgetown but also good access to the metro and buses going to the Mall. The wait/bar staff were great -- we had good experiences in the afternoon and evenings. The in-house, homemade limoncello was excellent.
No negatives really. We did have a problem control the air temperature/freshness at night, but that might have been because it was a warm weekend in spring -- maybe the air conditioners weren't on yet?
Stanley, along with anyone else I met within management was just absolutely amazing. Everyone there made me feel like a VIP. I had a bad experience in the past, last August, while staying there on business. Whereas, this time on leisure, the hotel staff redeemed themselves, and I look forward to doing business with the Melrose again in the future!
The bed. Way too uncomfortable. I'm in the mattress business (Sleepy's), if you need new mattresses, let me know!
Easy, comfortable, convenient
Room was a little warm despite the air conditioner on high.
after checking into the hotel I went downstairs to have dinner the food was very good almost blew me away that this was from a hotel. The rooms are very nice beds are very comfortable to sleep in
breakfast service downstairs extremely slow I ordered smoked salmon bagel and cream cheese with C it took over 30 minutes to get it to me the serverwas very flustered I asked for a to go box she just gave me just the box with no wax paper to take away my food.
close to metro-easy to get around
Great room, very clean, and well appointed.
The exorbitant charge for using the in house phone (although I was warned by the concierge
Good value for money for an excellent room
The staff were very helpfull and the hotel was very clea and the location was excellent
Yakkell, the concierge, was friendly and always eager to please, but she was clearly at the mercy of a management staff that would change policy on her day to day.
The housekeeping was so so. The carpets were filthy and the air conditioning didn't work so when the temperature in Washington took a sudden climb the room was sweltering. The dining room had similarly low housekeeping standards. The morning I left I stopped in for breakfast and was seated twice at tables with dirty linens and crumbs.
