1
9.4 Excellent (225 reviews)

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, beautiful, spacious Lovely people
Cons: Limited natural environment (1 small beach) The cost of drinks!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent but more variety needed for the kids. The scuba diving and staff was excellent. The snorkelling and other activities were also great. Location was amazing!!
Cons: We stayed in the beach house and the communication between the villa and main resort could have been better. Our phone was not working most of the time so it was difficult to make contact with the hotel to get a boat across to the main resort. The problems were not resolved very quickly. Breakfast served at the villa was amazing but not on time, especially on our last morning when we had to checkout by 9am.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing swimming from beach. Best boutique dresses!
Cons: Sand fleas. Over priced food.
7.9 Good
Pros: Food is good here. Well presented and with variety of choices. Hotel territory is well kept. Snorkeling right off the beach is quite good. Rooms are quite small but comfy. Mango trees and hike over the island.
Cons: Hustle and bustle feel of the hotel. It's VERY busy, even if staying in the Adult only area, using the hotel facilities and activities will remind you of how busy the hotel is. If you stay for just 2-3 nights, be prepared not to be able to book most of the worthy activities (like fishing and manta ray swimming), as they book out a few days in advance. Hotel should really consider contacting the guests prior to arrival with the scheduled activities list to give the opportunity to book something guests might enjoy, instead of leaving you without this option. Alternatively, organize more trips as there's definitely demand. Again, due to the busy nature of resort, staff can't be attentive, we were forgotten to be picked up from another island after the Picnic activity, and had to call the hotel from there (thank god the phone had signal) to remind about us.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was exceptional The outdoor garden shower was a real treat The staff were super friendly and very helpful .
Cons: A small pool for the little kids would be great . As the family pool is deep .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Woooow!!! Super beautiful and chic boutique hotel!! Even when we had 1,5 days of rain the experience was amazing, lovely reception, great staff (Bula Posh!), cool bars, cool pools everywhere, special area only for adults, nice rooms, GORGEOUS SHOWER (I think I have never paid attention to one but this one blown my mind - open air surrounded by stones and plants). Plenty of activities to do, loved to swim with the Manta rays, don't miss it even if there is heavy rain, totally worthy. Great view, great staff!! Good food.. Everything was amazing! Thanks for the warm welcome to the room for our honeymoon.
Cons: We received the charge of the meal plan by surprise in our credit card. Good to announce it in big letters in the description of the hotel during the booking. Luckily food was great and totally worthy but good to notify in advance. Quite some funny friends inside of the room (little lizards). We were very surprised but on our last day, we had to ask several times to the personnel during breakfast and lunch for syrup, food, dessert, etc. Consider the 3 hours by boat to get there, be prepared for that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff: so friendly and helpful. Loved the evening songs by the staff and the farewell tune to say goodbye. The villa in the Cove was lovely. Adult only was a good choice as there were a few small children in the resort. Lovely villas with outside bathrooms. The mandatory meal plan was great. Very good quality food served at your table- no buffet. Sorry to leave. We’ll be back one day......
Cons: Nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice location, very good food.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The snorkeling and diving are first class
Cons: Outdoor dining had a few flies.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it here, the coral reef is absolutely amazing, one of the best in Fiji. The work the island is doing around studying the manta-rays is incredible and they run a great presentation on them every day. Nice beds and good food too.
7.5 Good
Pros: The premium dorms were well maintained and clean, as were the bathrooms and showers. The beds were comfortable, but no AC in any accommodation. This place is perfectly situated. There are three beaches: one where the sun rises, one where it sets, and the other is the manta ray channel. Excellent reefs for snorkeling- by far the best reefs of the seven islands I stayed on in the Yasawas. Skip the diving, it’s a waste of money because the snorkeling is better. Fijian staff were great. They learn your name immediately. They cater drinks to your taste, and are also happy to make you their own concoctions. Food is excellent.
Cons: The bures are old and run down. They don’t have screens on the windows; only the premium dorms have screens on the windows. The bathroom (shower rooms and toilets) for the bures were also old and not kept clean. The bathrooms for the premium dorms were in good condition. The beaches are great but don’t have any beach beds or lounging chairs, which would be a nice addition. The management isn’t very friendly. They dismiss any concerns you have, and then after they receive the paper review they ask you to fill out, they approach you to say it was a “misunderstanding,” to try to improve the reviews you give them. Lastly, at all other resorts, only guests eat in the restaurant and bar. This place is the only exception, however only white staff eat with guests. This sends a strong message of racism, whether international or not.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff
Cons: Food is good, but has better one in other resorts
4.6 Okay
Pros: There is a great reef for snorkelling right off the beach.
Cons: Unfortunately the place is pretty run down and way overpriced. I had a private bure, the bamboo walls were slowly falling appart, all metal parts where rusty, there where no mosquito nets on the windows, the fan was shaking heavily when turned on, there was no possibility to lock your door when you left the hut and the matrasses where terrible - you could feel every single spring in it. Also the shared bathrooms have defenitely seen better days. The restaurant area is pretty dark and not very comfortable or inviting. The prices are way to high for what you get compared to all 5 resorts I stayed during my time in fiji. Overall I was pretty disappointed given the good reviews I have read!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a brilliant stay at Barefoot Manta. Beautiful location, and great for snorkeling off the beach. We also saw Mantas one morning which was amazing! The staff were so friendly and the rooms were very comfy and looked over the beach. Toilet and showers blocks very clean. Also great communication once booked to help book transport to the island.
Cons: We stayed for 4 days and the food was slightly repetitive but still amazing and what you get for being on a remote island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location with 3 beaches, snorkeling off the beach and Manta snorkeling! Rooms very comfortable and clean toilets and showers. Good for families and travelers - community spirit. Staff great communication beforehand to travel to the island We had 2 bookings due to availability when we booked but the staff were great at organising for us when we were there.
Cons: Food a bit repetitive after a few days but expected when on an island.

Pros: We felt as in paradise. Very lovely staff, very good food and awesome location.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice beachfront location and pool. Friendly helpful staff. Food was particularly good.
Cons: Beach wasn't very good for swimming due to rocks and waves. Reef was disappointing, in very poor condition, apparently due to damage by cyclone. Price was high for the standard of accommodation we had.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, great staff, super comfortable beds, great activities - thank you Moses for taking us on an epic hike! Definitely paradise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were absolutely incredible! It is by far the best resort I've ever stayed in. Planning to come back next year! Only change would be to stay longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing! I’m in love with this resort
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is quiet and beautiful! There are lots of options for activities or you can just do you own thing. The food was delicious ☺️
Cons: They were hard to get in contact with prior to arrival but once there all the staff were lovely and always willing to help
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A piece of paradise! This resort has everything you need for a total disconnection. Beautiful water, the staff is very friendly, the pool is great and it has plenty of chairs and lounge areas so you don't have to fight for a spot. The bed and room were nice and comfortable and the shared bathroom has plenty of space. Breakfast and dinner options were great! And I loved that they had soy milk and gluten-free options available.
Cons: Not all the activities advertised on the daily calendar happened, probably due to a lack of guests. The meal plan should include an appetizer or a dessert, as it feels overpriced for just a main at lunchtime.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort, friendly staff, lovely pool areas. The dorm was great, like a tent with 6 single beds - beautiful bathroom to share :)
Cons: Hot shower ran out quite quickly so never really got a hot shower, but not that big of a deal
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, both the shark dive and shark snorkel were very well organised. Restaurant and pool area have a friendly and relaxed vibe. Wifi is good in the eating area.
Cons: The food was great but became slightly repetitive after a few days - understandable being on an island!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is cheap for late checkout in a dorm(40 fidjis dollars)
Cons: Checkout 9am
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barefoot Kuata was a great experience. the staff were lovely and friendly, the place was beautiful and food was great. Our bure was comfortable with amazing views.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, what a brilliant location with fantastic staff. My experience here was unforgettable for all the right reasons.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning place and stunning people :) We felt at home straight ahead! Lovely grounds, great snorkelling, fantastic vibe, and super friendly staff - a true Fijian experience. The moment we left, we started thinking of coming back.
Cons: I sadly don't appreciate it being obligatory to buy full board, as I usually do not take advantage of it as I hardy eat 3 meals a day at a set time, which is kind of forced upon there. Food was OK, but not outstanding, and I would be more happy to simply choose food a la carte, even if the choices would have to be limited.
Mantaray Island Resort - Nanuya Balavu Island - Building
5
8.4 Excellent (479 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Nanuya Balavu Island, Mantaray Island Resort is by the ocean, minutes from Manta Ray Beach, and close to Sunrise Beach. Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort and amazing food. The staff were so incredibly nice. Full on tropical paradise.
Cons: It‘s of course expensive and limited access to hot water. But it is what it is on a tropical island and not really a bad thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic on every level. The food was unbelievably good and the range of activities was amazing. A life changing experience. Stunning location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Go to this place. If you’re on the fence, go. You won’t regret it.
Cons: How short the stay was
7.5 Good
Pros: Mantaray was a great location with mostly lovely people, but one of the staff members (male) was drunk and rude to a couple we were with. For what you pay, I found this disgraceful. The cabanas and dorms were lovely and very comfortable and they run a great dive shop!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff went above and beyond in all cases. Good snorkeling. Nice spa!
Cons: Meal service sometimes slow. Loving furniture and hammocks uncomfortable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is as pretty as you'd expect for the price (of the meal plan, mainly). Staff are friendly and always give a smile. Food is mostly very good, with lots of options. Off-beach snorkeling (only at high tide) is absolutely amazing, especially further out! The guided snorkel trip to another area is also well worth it. The “treehouse“ second row bungalows are small, basic but nice, the 40 person dorm has AC and sections of two double bunks each, and for whatever reason was absolutely quiet both nights I slept there.
Cons: No Manta rays anymore early/mid October... Obviously, that's the rays' choice, just be aware when they say the season is until October, that can mean very early October, or not October at all. The resort combines fairly low accommodation rates with an expensive compulsory meal plan that's not as clearly advertised as it could be; some people I met were taken by surprise. To be fair though, combined, it's fine for what you get.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked that it was NOT a super luxurious, high-end resort. I don't like those places--they feel cold, generic, overly manicured and impersonal. Mantaray Island resort was more relaxed and informal, family-friendly and fun. And because it's so relaxed, we easily ended up making friends with another couple we met on the island. The best part was the awesome staff, especially in the restaurant. Everyone there is warm and welcoming. They make an effort to learn your name, and we learn theirs, and soon we feel like friends. We especially loved the night they sang and showed us some dancing. The food was always tasty, presented to look beautiful, and there was plenty to eat. The location was lovely, with good snorkeling right at the beach (we saw reef sharks, a very large eel, and so many different kinds of fish--unfortunately never did find the octopus though!). Snorkeling with manta rays was a new experience for us and truly thrilling. We booked kind of late and got the only room still available, a very small "jungle" room. It really was small--no room to even leave the suitcases out and open. But it was okay, because honestly, we didn't spend much time in the room unless we were sleeping. If I had planned it earlier, I would have preferred an ocean-facing room and preferably one with its own bathroom. Still, I will say that the shared bathroom and showers were kept very clean. I felt the price was fair and the resort offered good value for the money. I saw in some reviews people complained about having to pay for some add-ons (drinks, snorkeling or scuba trips with the boat, etc.) but we felt those prices were reasonable as well.
Cons: I found the information about how to get there (via ferry) a bit confusing, though I did figure it out in the end. I think the info on the website could be highlighted in a way to make it clearer. At first I thought there were multiple ways to get there and/or multiple ferries. It would be great to say right up at the top that there is only one ferry per day each way and that is essentially the only option for transportation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the activities- particularly the Manta Ray snorkel and dive shop.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful, made us feel like familiy from the beginning to the very end. The place is very nice and the island an interesting place to walk and rest, The beach is not the best in the island but seems fine enough and thre are plenty of activities. The bures are simple but clean and enjoyable. The after dinner with Kava was memorable!
Cons: Food, being good enough could be more Fijian but this is just to put a con in so meny pros! Don't expect luxuries, expect a real family and simple pleasures like home out of home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great local breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. An experience of Fijian village life ad the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. We didn’t want to leave
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing, Kava ceremony all nights for free, free snorkelling, the village and school tour is amazing!!! Nice rooms and lovely ambience . The food is really good!!!
Cons: Is not the best spot of yasawa islands , but it is really worth it!!!
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly and very welcoming
Cons: The position of the resort - in the afternoon it wasn't possible to sunbathe after 3.30. They didn't have electricity from 2pm until 6pm. WIFI not available, but it's not a must.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so wonderful they really make you feel like family from the start. The meal Times were right on time, and very delicious. The communication was great. I would definitely return here.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Truly unique experience staying on lodge run by large Fijian family! We were there for Fiji Day which was very exciting. Didn’t quite get vegan diet right first time but very accommodating and made me special meals on request. Stunning location.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff is amazing ! They consider you as a member of their family. They call you by your name, sing for you, and shared with you their traditions such as kava ceremony. Diving with sharks is a wonderful experience. Food is good and home made. Awesome experience for few days. If you want to discover Fiji culture, I highly recommend it!
Cons: They took us for a picnic in an unpleasant beach with lots of rubbish and we had to stay all the day there... We met dozen of cockroaches at our balcony in the evening. The Fuji time is quite confusing: sometimes lunch time is 30 minutes earlier, sometimes later. No flexibility for the meals time (breakfast from 7 am to 8 pm only and dinner from 7 to 8 pm). Finally I would recommend to stay just few days (2 to 3 nights max) but not too long as there are not many things to do.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Could not have asked for a better stay at Naqalia Lodge. The staff are incredibly friendly and truly welcomed us in to the family. The paid activities are all very reasonably priced and the free snorkelling trips take you to some good reefs. The accommodation is basic but comfortable. We slept very well, maybe because of the cava. Vinaka vakalevu
