Pool area Extortionate drinks prices.!
Use of the leisure club is a real bonus No - its a good, comfortable business hotel
We were there for my daughters wedding which went off without a hitch thanks to the organisation of the hotel staff. The rooms, breakfast, leisure facilities added to make it a great time.
Consistent service, comfortable rooms and good variety of food None
On the maps.google.com is reported wrong position of the hotel. On hotel web page is it ok, of course.
the breakfasts, the pool facilities although jazussi out of action when we were there
The quality of the room The reception. One the two occasions l visited (one on arrival), only one person was on the desk and on the phone for a good 5-10 minutes whislst l was waiting to be seen to. What if there was to be more than just l waiting?
Pool, gym & tennis courts Restaurant was closed without prior warning. No refrigerator in room Bed sheets were rough enough to cause skin reddening. Small beds
Comfortable bed. Very helpful and friendly staff
we had a very comfortable overnight stay at the hotel with an excellent breakfast, served by very efficient and polite staff. The arrival at reception was of the same quality. We will use the hotel again when visiting family who live in Chineham.
Good value;good food;friendly staff;comfortable rooms.
Pleasant stay First floor mid corridor needs airing due to cooking smells from kitchen below. Better light blocking curtains/blinds over window (Rm 6) needed. Passing cars light the room up!
Food was excellent, staff were friendly and efficient Rooms were adequate but no hiardryer, bin or glasses in bathroom. Carpet on the stairs was worn in places.
Staff friendly and helpful All areas such as stairwell, corridor, car park etc were scruffy and unkempt. The room whilst adequate was in need of a complete makeover.
Friendly Staff, Good Selection of food No shower in the room and a lack of hot water for the bath, so on 4 out of 7 mornings I had to have a cold bath, bed was slightly uncomfortable, poor tv reception
None Dirty, Nothing worked, could not have a shower, because wall fixing broken. Carpet in bathroom (Who has carpet in bathroom)? Worn and smelly. Cobwebs hanging from light fittings.
Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Comfortable and quiet room. None
Good evening meals
Very friendly staff, rooms are individual and to a very high standard. No bad points.
It was very good value for money. The room was clean, nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'd stay there again. No complaints at all
extremely friendly and warm staff not applicable
Lovely room. Very friendly staff. Excellent service and breakfast We booked very last minute and they didn't seem to be expecting us. Bar menu fairly plain. Evening food ok but not brilliant.
very good food is fab
Excellent stay in a well apponted room. Very good food. Ideal for a quiet relaxing stay.
Smart rural dining pub with food above normal pub standards The rooms are up a narrow twisting stair which is awkward with large/heavy cases.
Staff were over streached on the Friday evening but sill managed to provied a professional service and a smile. Room was clean and well presented.
the location and comfort staff did not have much idea of local facillities
The quiet area in which the hotel is situated. Also local to the function we were attending.
The location was close to Newbury Races and polite and friendly staff. We requested the deluxe package but this was not in our room when we arrived and we had to request it. It also said mens magazines and a newspapers would be provided but we only got female magazines and we did not get the white company products it states we would receive either so not overly impressed! The room was also extremely hot.
room size room needed decorating
decoration and helpful staff very slow room service
rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Hotel was immaculate. exceptional value for money
staff very helfpul and polite very soft pillows
Spacious and immaculate room. The staff could've been a little more forthcoming.
Air conditioning in public areas which were airy and spacious. Hot bedroom. Reservation staff did not allocate room as per booking ie requested quiet twin bedded room and originally were given double but even the twin bedded room was over an evening wedding party.
The weather The appalling staff
The welcome we received from the staff was excellent, our room was clean and comfortable and the food was very good. There weren't any bad points.
clean freindly and good food the walls in the rooms were thin therefore you could hear everything from the next room
The pleasant welcoming staff and the quite extensive menu. Nothing at all.
Quieter than expected, particulalry at night.
Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also good. I would stay again. Noisy walkway to rooms.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed Despite having booking confirmation from the internet the White Hart had not made a reservation for us (luckily they had a spare room available). Shower was dated and could have been cleaner.
convenient location, easy parking, surprisingly quiet although it is on a roundabout, helpful and interested staff
A warm and friendly welcome by the staff and first class service. A lovely location all adds to an excellent stay. Fully recommended.
Beautiful old building full of character. Lovely setting in Stockbridge, would stay there again if ever in that area. Staff helpful and pleasent. the bathroom sink was not cleaned on a daily basis and no cleaning products were available. After 4 days of shaving it was a bit gross. Little choice of beer if you are not a real ale fan and the wine was very over priced. Must be stressed that you book in for a meal if you wish to eat there, food is good and it is a very popular, being a resident doesn't guarentee a table
staff were very obliging. It is like a family get together ! Food was good. outdoor area large. Rooms had charachter and we were very comfortable. We were offered a four poster room at no extra cost!!! It was lovely. Wide variety of visitors and age groups, ie. couples, fishermen, buisinessmen, tourists made the stay interesting. This is our second visit on our way to Dorset. Have recommended it . No extractor fan in bathroom.
The hotel had a lot of character
Good breakfast. Free Wi-Fi internet, which I need necessarily to my work, did not work at all. I was very upset.
Being able to bring the dog and having hot chocolate in the room. Able to take dog into bar whilst having evening meal but nowhere to take him whilst having breakfast.Bar very small and not conducive to sitting and chatting.
Really nice hotel, clean easy to find and excellent garden area No 24 hour reception,
poached eggs were brilliant the bed was awful
The hotel,Staff and food very good The room was only just adequate and would not liked to stay in the accomodation more than one night Very basic. However it was inexpensive
Friendly Staff - excellent food and beer - easy check in and check out
It was comfortable with a good full english breakfast.
Very warm and friendly staff. Excellent food
good freindly staff, good good
Friendly welcome and comfortable room.
Could not get drink after 11pm as being residents we thought that this would have been avaible. Disappointed at the bar service as we were in a private room for about 50 guest and the bar in the room was not in operation
The adjoining pub/restaurant served a great breakfast and evening meals were good. Service was excellent ! Some road noise and door banging late at night. Double bed was comfy but the single beds were not.
very slow service in restaurant & booking in
Room clean, plenty of hot water and tea making facilities. Room very noisy from traffic outside, couldn't open a window when the room because of the traffic noise. Should be a choice of duvet or blankets because some people don't like duvets.
It was acceptably clean and the room was a nice size for a family room. Yes, they had closed the restaurant for refurbishment, and pne of the main reasons we booked this particular hotel was because it had a restaurant next door where we could have dinner and breakfast as we were arriving late and leaving early.
The Hotel was ok, room was nice and big. There was a large tear in the Curtains, a minor point but you did ask!!!!
breakfast cushions on the bed didnt look clean
coffee & tea in your room for your use great as we arrived at 1am.
Your Hotel was very friendly, clean and your staff were very attentive. Bar was very busy at times, felt the staffing level at these times were a bit down, causing embarrasment to your staff who were doing their best to support your guests and keep the beer flowing
comfortable room, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast, convenient location for town our booking had not registered on their system despite my e-mailed confirmation, however it was dealt with efficiently on our arrival;disappointed with the swimming pool which was more akin to a child's paddling pool for one
Inability to deal with two complaints about the room adequately or to compensate for these
Friendly staff. Good food and excellent facilities.
The staff were excellent. The food was very good, beautifully presented with a high level of cleanliness and comfort. I could not fault it.
Very good staff. Central location. Car Park
The reception staff were excellent. The drinks were expensive at the bar - £10 for 3 tea's and a coffee.
The day staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. A lovely modern feel to the hotel and room facilaties were excellent. A very comfortable stay at a good discounted rate. Not enough car parking spaces. Night reception not available to answer for room service, physically went to reception no-one at the desk. Resturant - Not a lot of room in the buffet area.
it was a very pleasant surprise to find such a lovely setting - the hotel is also a golf and country club
The setting and the surroundings were stunning and the property itself had interesting period features The room didnt have any information abuot the hotel or restaurant, lack personal touches, the room was very bare, could have done with some flowers/decoration as it lacked charm- the room could be more beautiful. The hotel also looked a bit worn, it was the little touches that need looking over such as door handles and paint. It seems that more attention is paid to golfers than hotel residents
Good value. Great facilities. Room was extremely hot. Because of that one failing I wouldn't stay here again. Really a shame.
There was none well maybe the grounds were good The whole experience was grotty and my parents did not spend the night having requested disabled access I know this could not be promised but to put someone requesting disabled access on the 5th floor with no lift is a bit off. They made it to the room which was unkempt,
Character building in lovely setting close to M40 Needed handyman to repair minor items eg difficult to flush the toilet
We used the hotel for an overnight stay. We went to the Watermill Theatre and enjoyed awalk around the grounds of the hotel.
Food was first class Toilet very poor
the room was very warm and large not enough lighting down the drive and not even on at all two nights out of three. a morning newspaper to order would be nice
the location was lovely - although difficult to find Was surprised that the bar and restaurent were not furnished in a way that reflected the rest of the hotel .
Very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom with great water pressure in the shower Had only booked to stay for 2 nights and would have liked to have stayed longer.
The staff were attentive but unobtrusive
Room service food was great, their kitchen is first class.
I stayed during a business trip having got a £99 rate from Booking.com (versus the usual £309 rack rate). The hotel isn't really a business hotel - WiFi is extra and cellphone reception on at least O2 and Orange vitually non-existent. Breakfast is £15 extra (or £20 if you want a hot dish). Dinner is not within a low business budget - however ... Its a great hotel! The spa is especially relaxing (though the pool is not designed for laps - being circular). Food is fantastic. Rooms are very large and comfortable.
The hotel and its facilities were excellent, yes dining was expensive but for a special occasion it would be difficult to beat. Thought the cooked breakfast was very overpriced
Ambiance and quality of this hotel
We stayed in one of the Suites. It was very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. However this is exactly what one expects for the price and was well up to our expectations.
A top class hotel with very good facilities
High thread-count bedsheets, great food and service. Plenty of art & sculpture about the place. Superb wine list. More attention should be paid to the quality of espresso coffee. Room decor could perhaps be more adventurous.
The staff were very friendly and it was a definate 5* hotel
The whole experience of staying in this hotel was fantastic. In particular the restaurant was well worth the visit and a great experience for food lovers!
Hotel staff and manager very friendly and helpful. Menu could be changed daily.
Friendly staff, well laid out hotel and very good facilities. Excellent breakfast. lack of choice at the bar in terms of draught drinks , no cider on tap and only one ale. Not a major issue but would of been nice to have a choice instead of tiny bottles of cider at big bottle prices!
The beds are very comfortable The bar is extreme;y expensive . It cost over £10 for two drinks
Great location and refreshingly different Although excellent the restaurant is a little pricey.
The breakfast was very nice and the decor of the bar area was modern and fitting. There is no gym, you cannot call an exercise bike and some weights at the side of the swimming pool a gym. The treadmillls were not working and looked like they had not been for a while. Also the golf is not at The hotel, this is very misleading. It's a 10 min drive away at a private golf course, which closed at 5pm. We tried to use the driving range but they would not switch the lights on so had to take the clubs back. Overall a very dissapointing stay at Marwell !!!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor and cleanliness of the room was acceptable but not exceptional. The standard of food was good but expensive. In summary I would say that we enjoyed our stay but would have expected more for our money
Very helpfull staff, and excellent evening dinner, also liked the unusual design if the hotel and rooms.
The comfort of a good hotel with good staff who were efficient, friendly and made me feel at ease - I do not normally use hotels but it was the venue for my daughter's wedding reception No
The hotel is novel with it's jungle theme, proximity to Marwell Zoo and the surrounding woodland and chalet style accommodation. The room was large and comfortable. The decor was a little tired and the bathroom well-worn. But it was clean.
It was very different, close to Winchester but in the country, much nicer than a Holiday Inn and cheaper. Excellent breakfast, snack menu not so good Room was too hot for comfort
Nothing good to say about this Hotel it was not a memorable experience. I am going to write a letter of complaint. Hotel staff rude, and not welcoming apart from hotel manager. B/f service was poor and tables dirty. Room had no coffee or tea making facilites forcing you to order a drink from the bar. Room was shabby, ie bedroom curtains and shower curtains were falling down. Shower head was full of limescale and had not been maintained for sometime. Bed spreads and blankets were stained.......yuk!. Hair dryer broken. Meals available were poor and standard of food was poor for a resturant of three stars. Room service availability was poor ie phone was not answered. The Hotel was of a shabby standard all round and was extremely difficult to find in terms of Car Parking. Difficult to get answer from Hotel for directions as postcode on Website wrong.
The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for me as I was visiting a sick friend in Basingstoke and they 'lifted my spirits' the atmosphere in general was good. The hotel was exceptionally handy to the railway station and the bus station and of course the shopping centre. The double glazed window was not sealed and the noise from people outside was a bit irritating, my room was over the front entrance. Traffic noise was also noticeable. The room was therefore a bit on the chilly side due to the window not closing properly and the heating did not appear to work. In general the hotel would need to be re-decorated, a lick of paint, just to take that 'worn' look off it. Though the rooms I must say were spotless.
The location was excellent as was the breakfast. Reception staff and bar staff very friendly Having upgraded the room, I was dissapointed that it was a lower standard than I would have expected, fairly basic, nothing special.
Convenience to Basingstoke town centre
Staff very friendly. very convenient for shops and theatre The breakfast. not enough food coming out only appeared in dribs & drabs so had to keep getting up. The scrambled egg was not only cold it tasted like powdered egg.
bedding old fashioned
All the staff we met, on reception, bar/restaurant and cleaning staff were all friendly and polite. Also, we came for the weekend to do all our Christmas shopping, so the location, right opposite the Festival Centre, was excellent for our purposes. If there was any criticism it would only be that the bathroom was a bit dated and the grout and fittings etc looked a bit shabby and old. It was very clean though.
The attitude of the staff
convenient to all amenities in the town, reception staff friendly we stayed for 3 nights and the room was only cleaned once
Staff responses to problems.
Nothing It was dirty. Mold in the first room. Second room also dirty. Hotel requires an overall improvement. It lets down the Hilton name. Other's staying at the hotel were on rates much, much better than that offered by Booking.com. I shall not be using Bokking .com service again.
Its a hilton its a hilton
Extremely convenient for dining at the nearbyand superb "Crab at Chieveley" and for going on to Blenheim Palace the following morning.
Check in was slow
Location. Airco in the bedrooms.I Would stay in this hotel again only if I could get a good rate from booking.com Restaurant closed with no advance notice. Choice of bar snack or barbecue. Breakfast very expensive. Bathroom shoiung signing of water damage from bathroom above.
It was convenient for our journey. Quick check in and out. Good value for money
Ease of use Paying for the car parking
Me and my husband stayed at the Hilton North for 2 nights for the Newbury racing. I could not fault anything. The staff were so friendly and so helpful. I would definitely come back and recommend to others. The price of food on the menu was rather expensive. So unfortunatley we did not eat there.
Proximity to Newbury and motorway an advantage The fact that you have to pay for car parking despite price of rooms. The shower was not what you would expect at a Hilton hotel - either boiling hot suddenly or freezing cold.
The room I booked on booking.com was not available on arrival at the hotel. Needless to say I was not impressed. It cost me an extra £20 as the only other available room was a deluxe.
It's a very short walk to the town centre Bed was to small and my baby bump doesn't quite fit in a single bed anymore however this is what my company booked so it is not the fault of the Fernbank.
The Hotel and room were warm clean and tidy. The welcome was excellent. The Hotel is convenient to the town and is very easy to find using sat nav. There was no breakfast, and although we were aware that it wasn't included we thought this would mean it would cost extra. Not that it wouldn't be there at all. One of the breakfast cups in the room had a huge mouth-shaped lipstick mark on it. Obviously someone had had a cup of tea or coffee after puttng on their make-up and this had survivied the washing up (the inside of the cup was clean).
Check in was quick aand efficient, staff are friendly and helpfull, my room was very clean, I liked the closeness of the town center, shops, restaurants, no problem with wi fi , in a quite area .
Great place ,clean frendly ,great breakfast hot and fresh, nice room comfy bed what more can you ask for ?
The shower was good. Small room, small bathroom, difficult parking, tiny television, noisy during the night. Its more like a B&B than a hotel.
Friendly and helpfull staff. Good basic breakfast. This is more of a B&B than a hotel, the tarriff does not reflect the standard of rooms or facilities.
Had a great weekend at this hotel with the views of the countryside. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool could be bigger as its shape is difficult to swim in.
comfort and facilities.not far from our final destinastion southamptom everything fine .have stayed here before on a few occations
The room Shortage of staff due to a wedding
The location Lack of dining facilities for residents when functions are taking place. The terrible noise from the event disco under our room especially as we had paid for an executive upgrade.
freindly helpful staff poor choice on room service menu, room service not value for money
Free Internet Access
Its location in the countryside with excellent walks
The staff were helpful Tv facilities did not work, as I was traveling by myself this was important to relieve boredom
The food was very good The room was a little small and shabby
Cleanliness, good thick curtains, kept out the early A.M. sun Bathroom a bit 1980s
Everything, really: beautiful location, great hosts, good breakfast, huge bathroom, large and comfy room. Nothing. If pressed, I could mention that the fact that the mirror in the bathroom was not located over the sink didn't help my shaving, but that's about it.
Located in charming village with thatched roofs and scenic countryside.
helpful and friendly staff nothing
I liked teh friendly staff whow ere always willing to help plus particularly the on site parking which saved significant amount of parking. The lounge area was exteremly hot and stuffy in the early evening which made it an unpleasant place to sit.
Good location Quite basic rooms
location difficulty parking
Its location for exploring Winchester is perfect. It is not the easiest place to find, we got it on the second time round the one way circuit! The place is warm and welcoming. There was a hint of shabiness about the place; the counterpaine was stained, the wallpaper in our room peeling in one corner, the shower hose only partially secured to the wall, basin hot tap dripping...
Central location Car parking
central location to explore Winchester nice layout and friendly Room was a bit chilly Car park was crazy
Room was reasonable size and had ok views. Restaurant nice and breakfast ok. Poor treatment by reception when we found we had left some clothing behind. Difficulty in extracting car from over-crowded car park. Room, particularly bathroom, in need of revamp.
Free parking even though the car park was fairly small so there could be a problem at night.. The breakfast was fresh for a cooked buffet although limited to only one choice of eggs - fried. No nibblies (olives/peanuts etc) at the bar to accompany our wine although the bar girl did offer to go and ask the chef. The corridors were very creaky so we could hear all late night and early morning people.
The garden was lovely, the room very comfortable and the staff very friendly. n/a
