8.6 Excellent (540 reviews)
5.8 Okay
Pros: - Night staff was super nice - Room was relatively quiet - Patio with a view on the harbor
Cons: - Did not feel very clean (found somebody else's sock on the floor under a drawer; the patio was full of grime and cobwebs) - Breakfast is a joke...basically toast and jam; according to a sign there were supposed to be hard boiled eggs and yogurt, none of which was available - you will sit in the hallway for breakfast (no dedicated room) - no pool, no gym - we paid 200 bucks for one night; the place is worth maybe 120
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The woman at the front desk was lovely. She went out of her way to be kind and helpful. I have never had such wonderful customer service! Also, the hotel itself was clean and much nicer than your average hotel. Fireplace, whirlpool tub, beautiful views-
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was in a peaceful area. Very relaxing.
6.3 Good
Pros: Fine for a Cont. breakfast. Lots of choices.
Cons: The room AC units were very loud, could hear units in other rooms as they started and stop all night. Had to turn ours off to sleep.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location. Comfy bed. Nice shower.
Cons: Breakfast was sparse and there’s nothing else close for food.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great nighttime cookies! Great in-room hot tub and fireplace! Great mattress.
Cons: Lakeview rooms are overpriced. No room for breakfast. Breakfast with family in the hallway disturbs occupants of first floor city-view rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed and pillows. Room was very clean! The outside patio over the lake was a wonderful surprise and fresh cookies at 8 pm.
Cons: No elevator and as an older person, had to lift my full suitcase up the stairs myself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the hot tub and the fireplace in the room!
Cons: No
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room had a lot of character and the view from the deck was excellent!
Cons: The room was slightly small, but that wasn't really a big issue for us. The breakfast was adequate, but not outstanding.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and sweet. They made you feel comfortable.
Cons: The weather. The staff had no power over the weather but it had rained so much until three were sand bags along the road.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, friendly very clean. Came with a continental breakfast which was unexpected. We were only there passing through town and enjoyed our brief stay.
Cons: Could have used extra pillows, but we didn’t ask either.

Cons: No elevator

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and quiet, even for the Fourth of July. Really appreciated the "no fireworks."
Cons: When I arrived, there was no one to check me in and give me keys. A cleaning staff member told me that someone would be there in a half hour. I don't think it's OK to have guests wait 30 minutes to check in. I did find a lady who was doing room inspections, and she handled check in for me. This inconvenience would not be enough to keep me from booking again, but it should be addressed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The sunsets were superb! Listening to Lake Michigan at night was a joy! We played all the games (basketball, horseshoes (with a 6 year old and neither of us knew the rules
Cons: The only thing that was bothersome was the squeaky doors, to the outside, our rooms, and bathroom
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property! Great place for a family reunion or wedding destination.
Cons: Bathroom needs redone! Ants all over probably due to rotten wood. A gut job is needed. Sheets were stained. Took a long time to figure out a/c. A direction sheet would be great.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was perfect for visiting Lake Michigan in Muskegon and visiting Michigan Adventures too.
Cons: Our cabin had a slow, clogging toilet upon check in. Staff was great at rectifying it but was not a welcome we were expecting. Our cabin had no kitchenette as advertised w/pics on booking.com. We shared a cabin wall with another family. It was annoying and had no privacy as far as noise was concerned. Our cabin had a sloping floor into the bathroom and master bedroom which was very noticeable. It made you feel dizzy.
6.8 Good
Cons: Sulphur smelling water, would not rinse mouth with it. No TV Bed too soft
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing beautiful sunsets.
Cons: The pool heater was not on so water was cold but no big deal really.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: So cool being right on Lake Michigan! Felt like we were on a ship since all we saw from our windows was water! The trees surrounding the property were absolutely breathtaking.
Cons: Pillows! They need a variety of thick, thinner, down, polyester, etc. to choose from. Did not like the slippery tub! Needs a rubber bath mat inside the tub or those sticky flowers. We had kids with us so we put a hand towel in the tub for safety.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, family friendly resort.
Cons: No telephone service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lea was very nice and accommodating. The grounds were nice with lots to do. Rooms was clean and comfortable. Views were great.

Cons: The Price$$$$$
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly. I liked that they allow pets.
Cons: I did not like the fact that they did not have the hot tub working. The pool was very cold and I think they needed to warm up the water a tad bit.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast was way too crowded, after waiting in long line my family had to stand to eat while others just sat at tables, done eating and sipping on coffee
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location very clean and comfortable The room was big. Would definitely go back!
Cons: Maybe a little cheaper would be nice. Lol And wish they had bacon on there breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: breakfast typical motel food, nothing special. location was good.
Cons: rooms cleaner maybe use a vacuum, perhaps getting cobwebs out of the corners. lumpy mattress. could not get a top floor room. so I had to put up with your kids running around up there. sounded like jumping off the bed to the floor till they just collapsed around 11:30pm. it was great. How you put up with the little monsters .. I guess you get a ribbon in "Tune Out". But it was peak vacation time so it was to be expected.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and linens were very nice, comfortable and clean. The entire staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: They allow community membership to the pool, it made it crowded and loud at times. The bathroom across the pool was wet and needed more frequent cleaning. The outdoor patio is nice except it's located near the air conditioner vents so hot air is blown on you! Put a few more picnic tables off the parking lot! It's in a shaded area and worked fine!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing. We live locally but had an extended power outage in our area and it was HOT and so HUMID we just could not stay at home. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. The hot breakfast was PHENOMENAL!
Cons: There really wasn't anything we can complain about!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to Mi Adventure
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff was very friendly and promptly honored our requests. Jacuzzi was nice and relaxing.
Cons: The beds were really hard. The pool was dirty and very cold. The hot tub was down for maintenance on a weekend. The pool room was freezing and the ceiling was dripping on us.
6.3 Good
Pros: Convenient for our needs.
Cons: Wi Fi not accessible from 3 rd floor. Light next to bd burned out. Dirty mirrors bathroom and bedroom. Inaccurate TV listing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the hot tub/pool amenities. breakfast was great.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean room
Cons: Way way overpriced

Cons: Room was very old an dated. No balcony or porch on the room.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: the accomidations was not what we were suppose to receive
Cons: the staff and managers could have been friendlier
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great.
6.8 Good
Pros: Lake view , tennis court, pool, patio dining
Cons: Breakfast was pitiful, landscaping gone downhill - lots of weeds
7.5 Good
Pros: The location very close to the lake was amazing. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The included breakfast was without variation, waffles, yogurt and blueberries everyday, The hotel restaurant food was not good. This was a huge problem since it was difficult to find a good restaurant in the small towns around the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Homey feel. Comfortable and relaxing. Calming.
Cons: Not a very good beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: True old resort that's been updated- Love the old and the new. Love the sun porch to sit and play game. It's important that we don't have to leave the property to eat. The staff is really unusually nice; they go out of their way to be nice and that is unusual anymore frankly. Gift store is very nice and actually has affordable items. Close to the Lighthouse/Pier and beach. Easy to get to town if needed and the towns are really clean and have nice options and antiquing. Food is good. Atmosphere is good. Lake is nice for fishing. This year the breakfast buffet was missing for us, continental with waffles was nice but not quite enough for men or a 13 yr old but staff is hard to come by and we understood. but be sure to warn us on Facebook of changes so we can bring food so we can stay on site and play instead of drive out for breakfast. Nice to be aware and prepared. Still the place is wonderful! We hope to make it a 3rd year.
Cons: No hot breakfast offered this year (waffles were good but only 1 iron). Not a buffet with eggs, bacon, yogurt so there was no protein. Staff was hard to come by so we did understand but.....we needed to know before we came to be prepared. (I would have brought cooked bacon or upgraded our room to the kitchenette). We did not want to leave the grounds to find breakfast, it interrupted our day. Hope next year Buzz will bring it back to keep the true resort aspect of staying on site for convenience.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The view. And that was all. Everything else was awful.
Cons: Don’t do it. When I was there, I couldn’t wait to leave. I actually tried to get a refund. I’d have been better off in a tent. Which I actually enjoy. Trust the bad reviews. I should have. The pictures online do this place so much justice. It’s a shame - they have a great location but everything is literally horrible. The room is overpriced, the portions of food were so small and I swear my meal was cooked hours before I arrived. The staff was so so blah. Just blah. The room was so damp - it hit you like a wall when you walk in. And it’s only in the 70’s today. I mentioned it at the front and was told it’s because the building is so old. The amenities are a broken up shuffleboard and tennis court. If we were in town for more than 1 night - I would leave and go elsewhere. It goes without saying - we will not be back. We are coming out this way two more times this month and there is nothing that would make me come back here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and caring people.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The towels were thick and soft. There were ample towels for our family.
Cons: The carpets were filthy. The bed was uncomfortable. The phone did not work. The mini fridge leaked and soaked the carpeting around it. The coffee maker did not work. The room smelled of Old cigarette smoke. The hotel was practically empty but we were refused a room to move to.
7.0 Good
Cons: The overall building smelled a little funny, but thankfully the room didn't have that same smell. Little run down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was clean, the staff was amazing and loved the outside benches and tables. Pool was a little cool but that was okay. Loved this place
Cons: Nothing
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is perfect!
Cons: It was a typical 2 star hotel - nothing more nothing less.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This property was a perfect location for my family to stay on our trip to Michigan Adventure. We enjoyed the outside pool!
Cons: My room door did not open and close easy. We had to really push hard because it kept getting stuck on the floor. The floors were very dirty, both carpet and bathroom. My socks and bare feet were black.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was the only good thing at this hotel.
Cons: We had booked 3 rooms at this hotel. The first bad experience was the mold spell in the room, the difficulty with the reception desk to change our room, cobwebs on the walls, peeling paint on the walls of the shower, shower curtains on backwards, the inability to accommodate for a handicap room on the ground floor, difficult when ask for more towels for the room, very old carpeting, disgusting. A total lack of concern or enthusiasm to correct billing problems.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location to our destination was excellent.
Cons: Did not like that there was no elevator. Did not like that it had an outdoor pool, but my fault i guess for not researching further.
5.8 Okay

Cons: I reserved a deluxe queen and they put me in a regular but I still paid the extra money, would like difference put back on my card
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was not palatable. Had coffee.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and cheery .
Cons: No .
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly and pleasant. We forgot something in the room after we checked out and they called us to tell us! Which was great because it was a picture from our trip that meant a lot to us!
Cons: The room we stayed in was an old jacuzzi room. It was kind of rundown but we managed. We thought there was laundry facilities for guests but when we needed it, we were told it was OUT OF ORDER :(
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Courtesy of staff
Cons: I could not get a bottle of water because both machines were out of water.
Lake Land Inn - Whitehall - Building
5.4 Okay (16 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Lake Land Inn in Whitehall, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Michigan's Adventure and Huron-Manistee National Forest. Free self parking is available onsite.
4.0 Okay
Pros: I wanted a room where my vehicle was right outside my door. This model satisfied that need.
Cons: When I tried to check in the office was locked. I tried back later and same result. I called and manager stated she is cleaning room 5 so either look for her there or in office. Checked both and still nobody there. As I got in my car, manager came out of office stating she was on phone. I checked in. Temp in room was 60 degrees. Heater not working. I went to office. It was locked again. I am walking away and manager calls after me that she is on phone again. She says she'll look at heater. She comes later and starts it up. Later that night room is cold again. Heater not warming up. I'm not gonna deal with this. I left at 4 am and slept in my car st city park.
6.3 Good
Pros: Not much.
Cons: It was very outdated. I don’t think we would stay there again.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cons: The rooms were old and dirty. They are in desperate need of some renovations. I would suggest, at minimum, new flooring (including new carpet pad and probably sub flooring) and a fresh coat of paint with Killz underneath for every unit immediately. It was very smelly- a mix of urine and smoke. They moved me to a different room which was a tad better and only smelled like smoke, but I still bought my own pillow and sheets. I would normally say "you get what you pay for," but at $130/night, I paid for much more. I travel a lot for work and I can stay in a brand new Hyatt with free (actual) breakfast and a lobby bar for $150/night.
4.3 Okay
Cons: A real dump. Would never stay there again. Did not clean room. No fresh towels. Did not make bed.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: Everything
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: Manager didn't seem to know I was coming. Had to call the owner after I told him I booked online & had the conformation. The bed only had one very thin blanket that had a big burn hole in. We drove to Walmart & bought a blanket & comforter. The window was wide open & the heat took a good 12 hours to even get the temp to 70°. Office door was locked & we had to ring the doorbell numerous times & knock before he opened the door for check in in the middle of the afternoon. Never signed any paperwork or showed any kind of ID when checking in.
4.5 Okay
Cons: The sheets weren't clean. We had to ask to have them clean. The room smelly like cannabis.
6.8 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable, plenty of channels to watch
Cons: A little more attention to the cleanliness would make this place better.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: There was NO breakfast!!!!
Cons: Cob webs in the room, I was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 and had to wait at the office door for 5 minutes to get in to register, and wait for a person to show up to understand who I was and that I had paid already. It was a VERY POOR run facility, and I would NEVER stay there again!!! I would sleep in my car.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This place wasn’t fancy by any means but it was very clean and comfortable. Well worth the money. I would stay here again

7.0 Good
Pros: Booked 3 rooms. The lady at the desk was very nice that helped with the first 2 check-ins (earlier during the day). The hotel and rooms were clean and quiet. Liked that the breakfast was available from 7 - 10, we seem to usually miss the breakfast when staying at hotels. Breakfast was fair; waffles, cereal and rolls. There's a McDonalds, Save-a-lot and a gas station within walking distance.
Cons: 2 rooms were booked 2 days before the 3rd. Price went up $30+ for that room and when they went to the room, there were folks already asleep in the beds. Hotel lobby and rooms had a faint smell of cigarette for being 100% non-smoking hotel via sign at front door.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Availability
Cons: Terrible mattresses. Shabby interior. Skimpy breakfasting
5.0 Okay
Pros: Big bed
Cons: Over priced for the room value, no bath plug, only two rolls of toilet paper
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: The smell of food AND cigarette smoke. The concerning guests at the campfire outside consisting of employees with their family/friends. Or maybe the reports of 3 deaths in the past 2 months with a little baby almost being the 4th after her parents died of an OD and was left in the room for over a week. Despite what I'm sure was constant crying the staff never checked?!?! You had to dial 0 at the front desk to get any assistance from the employees who was set up outside at the campfire. There was God knows what all over the mirrors and walls. The shower hadn't been cleaned and had a dirty film all over it. I have pics of all of this if anyone thinks this is an exaggeration. Weve travel alot AMD sometimes run into some less than perfect places but I have never been terrified for my family's safety or worried to leave my belongings in the room in fear that they would be pillaged by the employees. I'm disappointed that booking.com would even be associated with a place like this. You should really look into pulling them off of your site
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location
Cons: For starters employ a staff of people that can speak English clearly. The room and surrounding area of hotel was filthy. The bathroom had mold in the outside corner of bathtub. The shower curtain rod was rusted where fasten to wall. Too name a few !
4.5 Okay
Pros: Close to Michigan Adventure
Cons: Dirty rooms with stuff left from previous person, dirty towels with orange crusty stuff on them. Lost our reservation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service was excellent and staff was friendly and liked how they talk to you right away
Cons: The staff and how well the rooms were and clean and also the customer service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They were very accommodating.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Well...let's see, we saw no bugs, there was no discernable mold, the bathroom appeared clean, although the linoleum in the bathroom did not fully cover the floor at the edges. Yup...rolled linoleum in the bath. The TV worked. There were very small plants in plastic containers (that sadly needed water) sitting ion top of large vases at the entrance. A sad "effort" to decorate...The picture of the outside at the website did not match reality. Ditto for the pics of the rooms. Not happening. Y We did not even attempt the breakfast. My grandchildren "looked", but the offering was pretty dismal. The motel was just plain sad. We went to the McDonald's next door. I knew as soon as we drove into the parking lot that we were in trouble....a portly 40 plus guy, was all encased in "camo" gear, a spiffy "Elmer Fudd" hat, pants, long sleeved shirt, (it was hot), who just stood in the middle of parked cars, "looking", scanning the area. It took us a few trips to bring our gear in (we were afraid to leave in the car). the man was still there, just looking....I wondered if he was a drug dealer, etc. It was creepy. There was not much to "like". Our mistake was to book on a Friday night after the 4th of July to give us a break in driving to Traverse City from Indiana. Any motel in the area was either booked or it was over $200 plus for one night., and non of the options were 5 star...rather 2 and 3 star, if that. Our room was $4 I get it, there is the "demand" and because it is a resort/lake area, their season is short. They have to make money to tide over the rest of the year. There was a young woman at the desk who appeared to be congenial. I assume she was employed to balance the owner, who yes, I presume is an immigrant (I have read other reviews, I am not complaining of his status at all). Clearly, the owner appears to be an introvert and not a "people" person.
Cons: Pour some money into the motel. Major money. Or, tear it down and start over. It may be beyond "saving". The motel is sandwiched between a McDonalds (which was okay, I guess) and maybe a garage on the other side. We could hear drilling as if something was being repaired. There was a shed in the back of the property/parking lot. It appeared that the young woman who helped the owner at the front desk, (who was friendly, but appeared down on her luck), was allowed to have friends and family congregate around the shed. I assume a job "perk"....There was a grill, they were cooking, portable chairs, Tiki torches, coolers, young kids, etc., a whole gaggle of people.. Unsure if some of the group lived in a van next to the shed or what the deal was....there appeared to be a wooded area by the shed, in the back of the parking lot. I saw some of the group walk back to the wooded area. It was all very odd....and to my eye, sad. I think the entire group was living "off the land", so to speak. It all sort of intertwined with the feeling of the motel. It just fit. It was all interesting, to be sure. In short, the experience at the motel, observations, etc. made me so very grateful for what we have in our lives.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Room smelled. Ac system was unbelievably noisy all night. Could not rest.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: I couldn't understand the staff and the a/c unit didn't work in my room.

Pros: Location
Cons: The place is horrible bloody sheets and bedbugs. Have photos to prove it. Drug deals in the parking lot and prostitution police on site couple Od . Not a safe place to stay.
