The rooms were very big and, although dated, immaculately clean. The staff is a couple that lives onsite who were very friendly and helpful. Free Wi-fi and parking were nice to have. There wasn't very good water pressure and the hot water didn't hold up long enough to fill a bath. The TV was a 19' 1980-something model. They don't have many channels in the room - you will have to watch the lobby TV to get ESPN, for instance.
Didn't clean our room!
The buffet breakfast was great. Make sure to bring some cash to tip your waitress. I left my wallet in the room and had to go back and get it. The hotel used to have smoking rooms as evidenced by the smell in the Air conditioner.
Room smelled like smoke. Beds were hard and you could feel the springs. Bathroom was dirty. No toilet paper when we got to the room. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Light fixture above the bathroom sink fell off. "Free breakfast" was only for 2 of our group. It was a mediocre breakfast at best.
Value The free breakfast could use some fresh fruit and a waffle maker.
Quiet, clean, warm, towels that do-not scratch, a triple plus for that. Young, middle age, and elder that clean your room, and I meant the clean room the old fashion way, dust for real ,everything. I have allery, and it did not bother me. A real sit down reaturant with all the fixing for a real breakfast...superior Nothing
Large room, comfortable bed, free breakfast, nice massaging shower head, close to casino.
Location Desk Staff. Bedding. Weird policies. Cleanliness.
The staff were friendly, the room was large, clean and comfortable, and the location is great as we were there to go to Harrah's Cherokee Casino. Easy walk to the casino. Nice view of mountain from our room. The breakfast was good, nothing to write home about, but was hot and substantial and the coffee was good too. Will definitely stay here again and again. There was nothing negative about our stay. We will be returning soon.
No clean linen, for breakfast the egg and sausage was fake. The quality of the tv sucked . On Thursday you can't check in before 4:00, but on Friday you check in early...just piss me off. But the bed was very comfortable. The sitting chair need to be a recliner....was not worth $150 a night
Staff was friendly close to casino. Housekeeping should be later since at casino all night. We only got service one day out of four because we slept til 2
Hubby and I stayed 2 nights for our anniversary. It was great with a great location near the casino. Not a big fan of Cherokee. All the local eateries are dirty, overpriced, and none were very good. The only thing going for the entire are is the casino.
The staff was amazing I loved everything
It was clean and quiet.. My room was on the second floor facing the lobby and beside the vending room, but you would never know it.. The vending machines on the second floor broke down and run out of water but no one came to fix them or put out of order signs on them. Yes I did let the front desk know and he gave me my money back. The young ladies who worked the front desk were fine but the man who works nights needs help..
They had a decent pool and the rooms were spacious and easily accessible. The room's decor was dated, no microwave or mini fridge, and the AC unit leaked water into the carpet when it was on. They had a continental breakfast, but it was sparse compared to most others.
The room was clean and stocked with a hairdryer and working TV. The room smelled musty and I saw a roach run across the floor. The bed was like a concrete slab and the pillows flat. There was notthing fluffy in the room, not even the towels.
Staff wss good. Bery accomidating Beds not cfortable. Beds not made every day. Breakfast was dry cerisl and some pastery. Coffee not available on oneorning.
Clean. Comfortable. Spacious shower.
Location The room was small and the TV was a Tube TV. I think you need to upgrade. The bathroom door had a whole in it. We had to stuff a wash rag in the hole to have a little privacy while showering and using the bathroom. Unless some upgrades are made, I would not recommend staying here again.
Even though we don't gamble, we love this hotel for the location and great restaurants. We've stayed here multiple times as a fall getaway. Very convenient to drive to Bryson City and Nantahala Forest. Love the restaurants on-site: Ruth's Chris Steaks, BrIo Tuscan, Johnny Rockets, Uno, Starbucks. Beautiful decor with outdoor seating next to a natural creek. Room very clean and nice size. We will continue to stay at this hotel for our annual visit to NC mountains.
Friendly staff, clean. Mattress too soft.
Everything - your staff is outstanding
Nice hotel. Beds are super comfortable. Beautiful location in the Smoky Mountains. Plenty to do nearby like hiking, fishing, etc. Check out Mingo Falls if you go. Everything at the hotel is super expensive. Food and drinks are way overpriced.
Staff was helpful. Rooms were just not clean. Cigarette burns in furniture. Felt gross.
The room was nice and I got a great deal on it N/A
- Free hot beverages and continental breakfast - Comfortable beds - Nice clean pool - Very pleasant staff - The shower drain was slightly clogged, so the water did not run out smoothly. It remained in the shower for quite awhile before draining.
Delicious breakfast. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Comfy beds and great shower! Room was a little cold. Had trouble controlling temp.
It was close to the casino and relatively clean.
Excellent room it was clean, bed was comfy, would stay again, staff was very friendly.
The room was clean--tv and ac worked--front desk friendly and nice --room service was very good. Breakfast was small (not much choice. Over-all very nice.
Staff friendly, room very clean, nice bedding and comfortable mattress. convenient
I stayed during the street repair time. It was noisy and hard to get around since the street was down to one lane. It was OK for the price. Didn't expect much for breakfast and didn't get much. Coffee and yogurt.
The location along the river was perfect! Close to everything we wanted to do, but not so close that we were bothered by the sounds of traffic or the crowds! The room was clean and fully stocked, but the beds were a little lumpy. The staff was excellent; helpful, but not intrusive! The breakfast menu was very sparse, but we will definitely stay again!
stayed one night and was pleased with room for the money spent.easy access and exit.would recommend.
I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. This hotel was very cozy and extremely clean. This is not what I would call a typical 'Econo- lodge'. It was way above my expectations. If you are not staying at the casino. I don't think there is a better place in Cherokee.
I stayed for one night and it was a great place to stay at. The check in attendant was very nice and check out was absolutely a breeze. I highly recommend it.
I have been staying here since they tore the Plasa Motel down a few years ago. I tried a couple of others but when I stayed at the Econ Lodge that was it, I have been comming back ever since. Icall the Qualla my home away ffrom home and try to get back as often as I can. My next visit will be July 1 to 8. I will be there for the Pow-Wow, which if any of you are in the area should try to see. I'm sure once you stay here you'll want to come back, especially when the leaves turn in the fall. From here I'm going up north for about 3 or 4 weeks and then back here on my way back to Florida for a week or so. So, why not make your next trip Cherokee and the Econo Lodge I'm sure you'll enjoy the Hotel and it's location.
I recomend this hotel...It's close to everything, very ,very quiet and the location is so beautiful, close to the river and a lot o f trees around...Loved the place..
The beds were comfortable, hard wired Internet worked very well, breakfast just o.k. Pool small but clean- enjoyed it after a 4 hour hike. Location good unless you're visiting WCU. Took us over 20 min. one way to get to the university. The ice machine on the first floor had a power surge and the clerk told me there wasn't another one in the building so went to the gas station for ice only to learn next day there was one working the third floor
The bed was nice, also the sofa was great. It provided somewhere to relax besides the bed. The walls may have been soundproofed but certainly not the doors. Listened to people coming and going well into the night, Even heard the elevator every time it buzzed and beeped.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They knew the areas attractions, restaurants and supplied additional printed information and directions. I found the breakfast very good with a good variety of items. The staff working on the breakfast area were very helpful with questions and worked well with children. The building was very clean and modern. I recommend this hotel for a great base to explore the area from. There are many attractions very close to enjoy during the day and then return to the hotel for a restful evening and good nights sleep. The lighting in the room was modern and bright, however, a soft night light type set up would have been great for younger children or older adults, due to the fact that they both have to find the bathroom during the night with out bothering the other occupants in the room.
Very restful room with a great view of the mountains, open window to the fresh air, great breakfast, good price. The window seat was a nice touch.
Clean and affordable. Comfortable rooms and excellent quality of service. I would recommend and book here again. Cable tv service terrible. Poor quality picture and limited channels. But I would stay here again because everything else was good especially the services.
The hotel was clean & bright & open. It was so beautiful with all the balconies that look over the river. They have a big balcony in the main hall, then we had one off our room. It was beautiful!! The staff was great! They directed us to a close-by restaurant (Akros, I think) That food was wonderful!! The best chicken parmesan I've ever had! The whole trip was amazing . & I would stay there again & again! :) Not much I didn't like. They were renovating a part of the hotel, so there was some dust here & there, but NOT in our room... so I really can't complain!
Very clean, comfortable. Great river views from the balcony. I am a coffee drinker. Their coffee was not good.
Staff, indoor pool for our grandson, common area in lobby. Double beds - yikes.
We had driven 4.5 hours and so we arrived at 12pm it was too early to check in. We parked over in Harrah's parking lot and walked around and gambled for a bit and then checked in. The casino is literally right across the street so we walked over to check in before moving the car. Our room was ready, on time and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was incredibly clean and the bathroom was much larger than expected. We stayed in a King and the bed was super comfortable, so much so that I had no trouble falling asleep. If you don't eat at the casino (which is horribly expensive) or Wendy's, you will be going back down the mountain for anything to eat. Also, the eggs in the morning are powdered and you can tell. They taste terrible. Also, I was informed that there is a really bad drug and crime problem on the reservation and that there isn't much being done about it. With that said, we didn't have any problems but I would not leave anything of value out in sight in a vehicle. I think this might also be the reason why you have to have your room key to get into the lobby late at night.
The bathroom was not cleaned well there was hair on the toilet and several places in the shower.. And the staff doesn't seem to communicate well with each other...
Nothing Smelly room ,bugs flying all over,
Clean room, comfortable beds and nice staff. The ice makers were broken and only the first floor machine was working.
Ice machine broken.
The staff was really awesome! The beds were comfortable and the whole place was clean. They even had a complimentary shuttle to the casino.
Staff was very helpful including the shuttle driver to and from the local casino! Everything about the hotel and our overnight stay met OR exceeded our expectations.
I thought this hotel was a very good deal for your money. The rooms were nice, the bed was ok. but what made our stay was the balcony with the view of the creek. it was beautiful. Close to everything in cherokee. Would stay here again!
I travel a lot. I would have to be really desperate to stay here again. The location is great. Near a fabulous place for breakfast and very close to Big Cove Road. That is all there it to recommend it. Toilet was stopped up when we checked in. Took hours to get someone in to work on it. Desk staff is at best uninterested, at worst, rude. Smell of the hotel is not fabulous. Back door would not lock, so not the most secure place to stay.
What a weekend! The hotel and services were great! Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels available. We got to swim in the outdoor pool AND the indoor pool (located in a seperate building, what a great idea!) Breakfast was free and the dinnfer buffet was delicious. We really enjoyed the stay and will definitely be back!
I was very disappointed in the hotel. For the price very mad. First we got there around 4pm, the hotel had no towels, none. We had to wait until we came back at around 9pm to pick them up at the front desk. Secondly the sink was stopped up, the toilet ran continuously. the Tub was backed up. And thirdly wallpaper was peeling or missing. The staff was very accomendating and quick set about fixing things.but this not what I come to expect from your hotels.
The room was only fairly clean although size was good. M & M candy on floor. Wallpaper was peeling. Computer access in the lobby did not work although its supposed to be WIFI; room access costs $12.00. Balcony was filthy; needs thorough cleaning. Fridge door handle was broken. Breakfast was adequate.
desk staff very nice & helpful. Brkfst very good-just need to get all items out on time.
Cherokee, NC has many hotels, and some are a lot better than others. This is an average hotel, not fancy but comfortable. The bed was pretty comfortable, but the pillows were the usual tiny ones. Everything was very clean. \nThey have a shuttle to the outdoor drama. Take this! It is worth the $* when you see the parking at the park. \nOur trip was really for nearby Dillsboro and Bryson and they are much nicer looking towns. Cherokee is more touristy. Don't pass up the Smokey Mountain trip. \nI would stay at this motel if I didn't find a better one.
Stayed in Cherokee for a weekend getaway. This was one of many trips we've made to this town but never stayed overnight. Should have stuck with Marriott. This hotel was the pits. Unfriendly Staff at Check-in, Missing Ceiling tiles all over the hotel. Mildewed rocking chairs out front. Banged up walls, halls that were in desparate need of paint, wallpaper peeling in the bedroom, bathroom tiles that hadn't been cleaned in over a century. Furniture that looked like it came from K-Mart. Room rate was $* per night + Tax. The rate included breakfast which consisted of very old pastry and orange juice dispensers that dispensed water. we ended up eating at another restaurant. Poorly run and not very friendly. We will not stay there again. We emailed and called corporate with no response in over 5 days.
What was that smell? Not pleasant. Hotel desk staff seemed to be puzzled by any questions at all. Side access door was proped open all the time. NOT SECURE. Hotel is not at all satisfactory. Plumbing is 19th century. Try another hotel if looking for a bargain. This hotel is in a great location for a quick breakfast, but that is the only advantage. We will certainly never stay again.
Terribly overpriced for what you get. The wallpaper in our room was peeling from the wall; the sheets were thin and worn; the chairs on the deck were filthy; the carpet in the hallways was dirty and worn; ceiling tiles were missing in several places in the hallways; and many hallway signs were chipped or broken. What's more, the front desk person upon check in was rude and surly to the couple in front of us and to us. He was more concerned about being sure we signed some agreement that no smoking would occur on the balcony than anything else. No smoking is fine - didn't bother us in the least; however, they should be more concerned about upfitting their property than someone smoking outside on a balcony! Overall was just a horrible property and should be closed for extensive renovations!
enjoyed the stay-nice and clean-i would select to visit this hotel again in the future
When we first made reservations, we discovered that we didn't get a non-smoking room. After a call to the hotel, we thought the problem was resolved. Nothing was changed and we had to take the smoking room. The room was laid out nicely and had a whirlpool. The lighting was poor, and the room was in semi-darkness with all lights on. There were no convenient electrical outlets. Also, the mattress was lumpy. This type of room is about what I would expect in a 3rd world country. I wouldn't stay there again.
The staff was amazing! Very nice and helpful. Mark was definitely the best he made the hole experience for us with his kindness and wonderful personality. He was willing to solve any issues or questions in a very happy and fun way.
Peaceful setting and the exterior design was home-like. Bed was comfortable. Coffee packet in room had nothing in it
