Glad I messaged ahead as staff went above and beyond for my other half who is dairy intolerant, by providing a dairy alternative for milk and breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful when myself and partner came back to hotel very late.
The hotel is a walk out of York but if you ask at reception, a small pre printed note with directions can be obtained which gives very easy to follow directions which guides you up Fulford Road and then onto the riverside path which makes for a very flat easy to negotiate walk into the centre of York right up to Kings Staithe from where most of the boat trips depart from. Good parking, even when we arrived there appeared to be a a couple of business meetings / conferences taking part which made parking tight, but spaces soon became available as people started to leave the events. We never used the car as the walk is easily done by the river into York and the buses run past the hotel very frequently. Taxis are also easily booked via the reception and local pubs are nice with good food on offer. The bed in our room was massive and comfortable. We used the hotel as a base on the run up to Christmas and would stay there again.
Nothing really. Would go again.
I liked the way all the staff Was welcoming An very polite would absolutely recommend this hotel
Lovely old building, lots of character. Rooms comfortable and pleasant to stay in. Staff really pleasant and accomodating.
The Best Western York Pavilion Hotel is a truly stunning hotel in York, offering peace and tranquility just a mile outside of the center. A brisk 25 minute walk along the river will lead you into the heart of the city, where you can tick off some of the best attractions Yorkshire has to offer. The hotel itself is a Georgian grade II listed country house, with spectacular landscaped gardens, lawns and a courtyard fit for a fairy tale. York is one of the country’s most fascinating cities, with countless things to do and see. York’s Roman walls, the train museum, the ancient ruins and York Minster are all within a working distance of the hotel. As is Clifford’s Tower, which offers some breath-taking panoramic views of York that will be sure to make you fall in love with the city. If you’re coming by car, we recommend checking out some of the surrounding attractions. Eden camp is just a 30 minute drive from the hotel, and is one of the UK’s largest museums on British militarily and social history. Flamingo land is also just a 30 minute drive, and a superb family day out - with a both a zoo and rides for a jam packed outing. The hotels brasserie is award-winning and will be there to serve you some fantastic fine dining dishes after a busy day. You will enjoy the gorgeous food next to a welcoming fire and beautiful view of the garden. For something a little more informal, the hotels Parisian bar is ideal as it offers just as much style as the brasserie, but in a relaxed setting. So, if you’re looking for a blissful escape from everyday life, that’s still within walking distance of the historic city center, then the Best Western York Pavilion Hotel is just what you need.
