10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is super well run. Everything works, including the wi-fi. The rooms are really nice, with new mattresses, sheets and pillows. We're travelling on a budget and this place is at the top of our price range, but it's the nicest place we've stayed in Senegal or Gambia, and it's tremendous value for money. They serve a good breakfast with a choice of five different homemade jams. Dinner was superb, with big portions of well-cooked fish. We had two different Senegalese dishes which were excellent. There's lots of bird life that you can see from the hotel terrace, including gorgeous Abyssinian rollers. Eric, the owner, is extremely helpful and friendly, and he speaks English. I can't recommend this place highly enough - it's great.
Cons: The beach isn't the nicest in the world, but the hotel is close to a nice stretch of sand and it's perfectly acceptable for a quick dip. The hotel is about 3 km from town, so it's a bit inconvenient if you want to spend time in Kafountine, but for us that's fine. We're happy to relax on the hotel grounds, and although Kafountine may have its attractions it's not the world's most beautiful town.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, lush, tranquil. The stars at night are glorious! Fewer tourists than Cap Skirring, although still some. Eric, Justine and their staff are gracious and accommodating. Food was really good! And cheap compared to Dakar, the capital. Brochette de lotte was especially excellent. Would definitely come back!
Cons: Still trash on the beaches, but that's unavoidable here in Senegal. I wished there were more birds that frequented the lagoon, but it may simply be the time if year (January). The room was a bit stuffy and so my allergies acted up. However, the first two issues are beyond the hotel's control and the trash issue is ubiquitous in Senegal, which lacks waste management infrastructure.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clara is a gem. She's the receptionist, security, cleaner, cook, and more hats worn. She's the only staff we encountered throughout our stay. She tried her utmost to make sure we were as comfortable as possible considering the running water/shower problems .
Cons: There is no security personnel at all at the resort which is greatly needed as the resort is secluded. There is a huge problem with water. Its was muddy water running through the pipes. We could not take showers and the toilets did not have water. Poor Clara had to carry buckets of water on her head to make sure we could clean ourselves.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a marvelous stay at Esperanto Lodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This beautiful place is a haven from the hustle and bustle in town, set on the edge of the estuary and adjacent to the beach you are spoilt for choice.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well designed and maintained place run by owners Justine and Eric. Fantastic location, facing a nearly deserted beach on one side and the beautiful wetlands on the other. A canoe for free use. Lots of birds.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location: a short walk to the beach and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Check out the sun-terrace!
Cons: Map location...the lodge is further from Kafountine than it looks on the map. At least a mile I'd say.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: a lovely secluded place with a beautiful walk to the sea and a great empty beach. A simple but very nice stay. The staff (Omar) was super helpful and nice. He picked me up from the station and dropped me there on my way out. He also showed me around which was great! My stay there was really nice. I highly recommend the place.
Cons: I came at a very quiet time when there were no other visitors. I think the place would be much more fun if you come in November/December - I guess you could expect more music, a fireplace, etc. Breakfast could be improved
