Pros: The setting of the main lodge and the villas is beautiful, with views of the rainforest and an abundance of wildlife. Miguel, the host, is very welcoming and engaging. He couldn't do enough to help us and make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The communal set up for meals was very rewarding, meeting new people and hearing about different experiences. The design of the rooms was brilliant. Our shower was open to the surrounding rainforest. Although it is out of town it is easy to arrange taxis and lifts.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: the location was great; surrounded by wildlife and away from the local pueblo. Johnny and Gretel went out of their way to make their guests comfortable and happy!

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great; Johnny, Gretel went out of there way to assist and inform on a number of issues and were very knowledgeable on the birds and environment. Breakfasts and dinners were good, and the property spectacular with some of the best bird viewing we had in Costa Rica.
Cons: We did not like leaving- it is an adventure getting to Drake Bay and we would happily have had a few more nights at Maresia
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely accommodations, great food, a great way to meet people while travelling. The nature and surroundings were beautiful. Miguel was wonderful in arranging tours and boats on and off Drake Bay.
Cons: It's far from the village. Hard to get snacks or food on non-meal hours. We had hungry teenagers and we had to walk to town to get them some food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was incredible; far enough away from the beach/city center to be quiet at night and enjoy listening to the sounds of the jungle. Getting to the center was easy with a mix of hotel-provided transportation and walking. The community breakfasts and dinners were a highlight, as were the friendly dogs and cat, hammocks for lounging, and Miguel's patient answers to all our questions and his recommendations!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to be, beautiful finca with an amazing view over the finca from the terrace. Dinner was good and having it with all tourists together creates very nice chats. Having the finca organizing the Corcovado and night tour gives you the best tourguide of town!
Cons: -

Pros: The breakfast at a close partnering restaurant was delicious and a great deal.
Cons: Pillows were adequate, but could have been more comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great place. The huts and tents in the beautiful tropical garden gave us the jungle feeling we were looking for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else!
Cons: The kitchen fire need a bit more power
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the atmosphere, the tent cabin was lovely, I met some very interesting and pleasant people there. The boss Anja is great and she booked us some great tours. I liked the common space, the brochures where you could find all the animals you saw that day, the lovely kitchen with all one could need, the free coffee. I also liked the warm shower :)
Cons: The place is very lovely, but it is outdoors, so, during the rainy season, I would not recommend a stay longer than 3 nights, at least not in the tent, because it did get pretty humid.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Mohagine has an inviting common area with lots of information, hammocks, a kitchen for use, fast wifi. It is set amid lush greenery, so the property affords privacy. Anja was extremely flexible with our dates and responded to our many inquiries.
Cons: My only complaint is that our room (Piedra) was quite small. Then again, we did deliberately choose the cheapest room. It was very humid with lots of mosquitoes. Then again, it is the jungle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a friendly, natural place. Staff were great and really helpful. The room was incredible with only 2 walls and a view into the forest. Just perfect.
Cons: If you do want to pay on card you have to walk down to the office on the beach. Not a huge inconvenience but something to note.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This location is on the edge of the town of Drake Bay. It was clean and had fun guests. My wife and I enjoyed our experience there. It is a backpacker hotel in the jungle. Monkeys and Sloths and Macaws were visible right out side of our room. The staff was helpful whenever called upon.
Cons: For the money, this place is great. There are always upgrades to add to any hotel and considering the costs, it was both the least expensive and most fun place we stayed in Costa Rica. We will return with our kids.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The welcoming..all the explaination from the owner and the staff ! Only regrets...we took knowledge of their beautiful book a bite too late. We wish we discover their back garden / jungle
Cons: The salt is to humid
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean accommodation in a great setting, nice communal area with well equipped kitchen and free coffee.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is surrounded by lots of different plants and flowers, which makes it an ideal spot for wildlife and bird watching. Staff was nice, polite and friendly. When I asked to change room, they were very helpful in accommodating my request. They also helped me organise couple of trips, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cons: Bathroom was a bit far from my room, especially when I had to walk to it in the middle of the night without any lights.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located and Kim was super helpful booking tours and giving us all around information on city Floating tour was amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, stunning views, great value
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pacheco cabins were centrally located, close to the beach (where our boat landed) and the restaurants and supermarkets. Our room, while not quite a Motel 6, was small but clean, and had a good working A/C and daily housekeeping. The hot water device for the shower worked fine. The bed was comfortable. The place offered free coffee/tea all day. Great value for the money. Our host, Erik, was friendly though seemed a little tired and spaced out when we interacted.
Cons: As expected in a remote place surrounded by rain forests, our room had tiny little critters (smaller than ants) that went into all of our bags, clothes, etc. They didn't bite or cause adverse reactions, just sort of gross. Also, the sugar container left outside next to the coffee/tea station had lots of ants... The onsite WI-FI did not work consistently, but this was true for other facilities at Drake Bay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can only concur the raving reviews here. Excellent hostel, a little of the beaten path. Very personal care by the excellent host Mike, without being pushy in the slightest. He has excellent advice about the region (Thanks for the tip about the Drake trail hike, Mike!!) He has alternatives for the expensive Corcovado trips. His place is even good for spotting wildlife. We Saw a dozen (!) or so capucin monkeys in the trees by his garden. Although I guess that was lucky, so don’t expect those. Even the WiFi is excellent. Thanks again Mike! It was awesome!
Cons: Slippery bathroom floor! No bath rug! How dare you, Mike? ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on the outskirts of the village of Los Planes, this cosy hostel gives you a great opportunity to watch wildlife and to relax. Mike, the owner, is very helpful and takes great care of his guests. He has heart for Costarican nature, helps to arrange tours and gives hints for great hikes in the jungle and along the coast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay! Highly recomended! Mike is a terrific host! He knew the area very well and had great suggestions for activities. Also he helped us to arrange tours. The location is fabulous! It was so neat to see macaws and toucans overhead. A great place to stop on any Osa Peninsula adventure!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely host who will help you throughout your stay to make the best of it! It’s a great house where you feel immediately at ease. Surrounded by nature, keep out if you’re looking for a bar - the nightlife here is that of the rainforest! Delicious soda at a 5 minutes walk means you don’t necessarily have to cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect and quiet location on the hills behind drake. Close to the primary rainforest. Lots of animals in the garden (macaws, toucans, monkeys and many more) and a huge and beautiful self built house with a lovely garden and a well equipped kitchen. The host Mike is truly a great person. He helps you with everything you need and organizes all the tours you want to do. He also has good (and off the beaten path) alternatives to the expensive national park tours. I highly recommend the horseback riding there!! We stayed longer than planned. Absolutely stunning place and I would definitely come back again!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mike Suizo is the best man you can meet in the area of Bahia Drake! Always full of good advice, can relate everything about the close nature he lived in for most than 10years now. The place is amazingly quiet, the house is really clean and also cheap considering the area. You can speak English or Spanish. We come as guests and leave as friends. Hope we will get back to this place one day or another.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place has an awesome location with an inspiring backstory. Mike is not only very friendly and helpful, he also brightens up the place even more with his personality. Me and my girlfriend had a great time, and will forever remember this amazing place. Ps. 5 minutes after arrival I was hanging out in the hammock, and two Toucans started “dancing around” in front of me. So wildlife all around.
Cons: 2 hours after we left the place my girlfriend already started saying she was missing Mike and his place ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A big and comfy house. In the jungle and very relaxing. On the top floor amochs to relax. A full kitchen to cook. Mike, the host, is a very enthusiastic naturalist and very helpful gay. I hurt my finger foot and he straight way help me with ice and a bag to hold the ice. He can give you a lift to the beach free,. He fetched us from the airport and let us shopping in the supermarket. He took us to town at 6am to get the boat to La Fortuna for a trek in Corcovado. A great experience to be there. He show us some animals and picked for us some coconuts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Corcovado Backpackers was brilliant and Mike (the owner) was absolutely amazing! He can speak perfect English and was incredibly friendly. His advice was spot on, he reccomended we do a waterfall hike (not the normal tourist one) a river walk where you have to walk in the river to try to spot Tapir, Corcovado National Park and a walk down to San Josecito Beach. There is the option of the shared or private room (we went for the private room). The private room has mesh instead of windows so you can hear the brilliant rainforest noises outside and the shared room has open walls so you are even more open to the rainforest. You can use his kitchen and he has a hammock up for relaxing. It is quite a long walk to the beach and the town but he can organise a quad bike to take you down to the town for a fairly cheap price. He also told us where to spot Sloths and managed to spot them in a tree for us when driving us back to his place. We completed the waterfall and river walk in one day, the entire time we were completely on our own and did not see another person meaning we could enjoy the nature around us even more. We started by walking to the waterfall up the river (recommend trainers not flip flops) keep looking out for Jesus Christ Lizards running across the water and Amazon Kingfishers catching the fish you stir up behind you. you reach a creek initially that you can swim in and then we got to the waterfall which was absolutely amazing! we then followed the route downriver looking out for Tapirs, it was a beautiful route and as there is no path on either side you walk through the river for the entire time which keeps you cool and is great fun! We found multiple tracks and trails that Tapir had made and smelt them several times (we could only identify all of this due to Mikes tips beforehand) but unfortunately could not spot one on our walk. This route was definitely a highlight of our trip and it was amazing to get to enjoy it without other tourists.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Corcovado Backpackers is located in a small village in the mountains, you feel like you're staying right in the jungle. That makes it very special! You can hear a lot of animals and even see animals like Tucans in the garden and relax in the hammocks. Or you can do hikes or tours on which the host Mike is very helpful! Mike is a super host, he organised my tour to the National Park and gave me a lift whenever I needed to get to the beach to catch a boat. This hostel was just perfect, I'd love to come back sometime!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: View from the room is amazing surrounded by so many birds. Food is great and staff were really helpful booking tours and transfers
Cons: Did nt mind the walk up to the room but some people may struggle but the view is def worth it
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This property was everything I was looking for when I made plans to visit Drake Bay. Our particular cabin was super cozy, and the view from the deck was amazing! Every morning we woke up to the sights and sounds of any number of birds and could hear the waves crashing along the beach. It's also a short hike down into town and to the beaches. The owners helped coordinate transportation from the airport as well as the tours we wanted to do, and they also run the restaurant down below. We only had breakfast there but it was delicious and promptly made every morning. If you don't mind a place that's a little more rustic, you absolutely won't be disappointed!
Cons: As others have mentioned, the stairs up to the cabin can be a pain, but for us it was a non-issue. Just make sure to bring a flashlight with you if you have to manage them at night!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cabin was cozy, up the hill so we had great views over the bay and lots of birds flying around us. Watching the sunset was magic!
Cons: We didn’t have hot water and the mattress was not comfy. We felt the manager expected us to tip him all the time so made us slightly uncomfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - the view was amazing - the staff was very friendly and helpful - the food was delicious
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great view, nice Veranda
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's not often we give a 10 rating, but we really loved this property. The individual cabanas are situated up on a hill with a fabulous view. The wildlife is prolific, with humming birds, tucans, and and vultures all around. The two sisters who manage the property both speak excellent English and were really helpful organising tours and giving advice. The associated restaurant serves very tasty food at a great price.
Cons: Nothing - though there is quite a climb to reach the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and host couldn't have been friendlier! The views from the balcony are stunning and great for bird watchers. The rooms were clean and simple with hot water shower. They run a really good restaurant at the bottom which I would consider very high standards of cooking. We ate here every night enjoying fresh snapper caught that day! Really worth a stay!
Cons: This is only because you should know it is about a 100 step climb to the room which can be quite punishing, but dont let this put you off!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lovely view from our lodge. Personnel very friendly. Good food in the restaurant.Tx Raquel and family for the great time.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice view! Beautiful birds around!
Cons: Uphill, very steep way up. I guess no pain no gain, to have that view you need to go up!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Josue and his family are fantastic hosts. He was really helpful with every enquiry and even gave us a lift back to our cabin when we bumped into each other in the village one night. The view from our balcony was amazing. We spent hours in our hammocks watching the macaws and other colourful wildlife. This is honestly one of the most special places we've ever stayed. Thank you!
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff helpt us with free cancelation within the periode that iT should have cost money. Great service!! Pura vida!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We traveled all over the Country and Norlyns' Pura Vida Cabinas was the finest place we stayed at. There were no bugs in the rooms, everything was immaculate, the leisure area/kitchen was relaxing and accommodating. Norlyn booked us in for an awesome Corcovado National Park hike and Cano Island snorkeling tour. They were both guided by friends of his that were knowledgeable professionals. It was clear that Norlyn and his family care a lot about their property and business. If you're staying in Drake Bay I don't really know why you would stay anywhere else! Luke and Jen :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were a group of friends staying in Drake Bay after a 2 night stay at Sirena Station in Corcovada Park. We had the use of a hire car as we were traveling from Puerto Jimenez and were concerned as to where to park during our stay at Sirena, the boat leaves Drake Bay at 6am. Norlyn very kindly allowed us to park at The Cabinas until our official check-in and was really fast and effecient with all email communications. The Cabinas are extremely clean along with a modern bathroom and great air conditioning, which was a welcome relief after Sirena. Our room had a double bed and bunk bed, fresh towels provided, soap in the shower and a lovely modern sink. There was also a table and 2 chairs outside our door along with a very spacious, outside clean toilet. The freshly cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs was really tasty. Cereal was available along with fresh fruit, coffee/tea, toast, butter and jam. Everything was beautifully presented and all the staff we came into contact with were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Cabinas Pura Vida, all of us agreed it was fantastic value for money and I would definitely stay again if I am lucky to return to Drake Bay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Norlyn and Gabby were amazing hosts. I got a horrible sunburn so Norlyn cut open an aloe vera plant he had growing on his property to help soothe my sunburn. He picked us up from the beach when we arrived and drove us to our tours every morning. He made all the arrangements for our tours so we had nothing to worry about. They had the air conditioner going in our room when we arrived so it was already nice and cool. He communicated with me through email many times and was happy to answer any questions I had. The location is in the middle of town so you have easy access to stores if you want to shop but you aren't in the middle of the jungle which probably helps keep the bugs out. There were a few small bugs that came in our room but only if we left the door open which was amazing compared to other hotels we stayed in.00000000
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really clean, lovely rooms, lovely common area, great location. Norlyn and his wife were very helpful.
Cons: 9pm felt a bit early to close the common area - as it was such a nice space we would’ve liked to be able to sit and read in the hammocks till 10pm.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful and friendly: thumbs ups!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Norlyn the owner of the guesthouse is an exceptional host. Starting with an unexpected pick up from the beach when we arrived. He did everything for our convenience. Breakfast was delicious. Everything is super clean. Nice terrace with possibilities to relax in hammocks. We have not seen many guesthouses so clean and good in this price range. Norlyn even drove me to a diving shop one day. Not many owners of guesthouses will drive their customers around for free. What a perfect service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wondered host. Basic accommodation but really clean and serviced every day. Well worth the money. Breakfast was wonderful.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent

6.7 Good
Pros: Great location next to a lovely beach with beautiful walks. Cabin was nice with lovely wooden flooring, electric sockets and a hot shower. We saw toucan, monkeys, macaws and hummingbirds.
Cons: Lovely staff but food was very bland and uninteresting compared to other meals we ate during our trips. Fruit is served on a plate and I would have preferred more. Expensive compared to other places we booked.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location next to a beautiful beach and lovely walks.
Cons: Food could have been better.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: beautiful place - paradise like with a fantastic view and beautiful flowers everywhere Fantastic breakfast and very friendly staff
Cons: na
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Las Caletas is a little paradise between Bahia Drake and Corcovado. That you can only access this hotel by boat gives you the feeling that you are indeed traveling to a lost island and the boat trip is a nice way to explore that mangroves on your way. Las Caletas is run by David and his incredibly friendly team (first and foremost Daniel and Brian) - they always went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable (thank you for the wonderful Valentine dinner!). The shared dinners in the evening are a great way to get in touch with the few other travelers of the lodge to share tips and experiences of how to explore this unique place in the South of Costa Rica. My husband and myself stayed in one of the "tents" (it feels more like glamping :)) and we really enjoyed it. My parents stayed in one of the rooms which was comfortable and spacious. We wholeheartedly recommend this lodge to everyone who wants to enjoy a peaceful time in one of the most beautiful corners of the world!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was great
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is amazing, it sits above a beautiful beach and it's close from the path that connects Drake Bay village to all the other beaches. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I specially liked the fact that they treat the guests by their first name! The food was absolutely amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location great staff peaceful place
7.5 Good
Pros: Watching nesting macaws from hammock Tasty three course meals
Cons: Too hot and no pool/air con to cool down Price of beers and soft drinks
8.8 Excellent
Pros: jungle feeling, lots of beatiful birds, butterflies and monkeys, nice food, friendly people
Cons: even it feels like a private beach, someone stole our beach bag (that was unattended, so pay attention)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely amazing. The views were beautiful and the beach was a short walk away. We stayed in the cottage which was a short walk up hill from the dining room. The boat transfer was smooth and not a problem although we would advise not taking huge suitcases as the beach landing is not suited to such luggage. As we were there in low season there were never more than 6 people staying which meant it was peaceful but sometimes conversation at the shared dining table could be a bit awkward. David, the owner, was helpful but not overbearing.
Cons: The food was fresh and simple and plentiful but not as good as we were expecting based on some of the reviews. We stayed in green season and therefore the weather was a bit unpredictable but that was to be expected and not the fault of the lodge.

Overview Reviews
Osa Tucan features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Drake. Guests can also relax in the garden. The nearest airport is Drake Bay, 6 km from the bed and breakfast, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Surrounded by plants and tall trees, with a nice shower, spacious rooms and a quiet location.
Cons: N/A
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Huge room, tastefully decorated and furnished. New bathroom, with good hot shower. Free shuttle to and from the boat. Helpful staff - Spanish and English spoken.
Cons: Very loud music from a nearby karaoke bar blasting out until after 1 a.m. on two of the three nights we were there. This is the reason for my low location score. I feel a bit bad about writing this, as it's not the hostel's fault, but I think it would be a deal-breaker for some guests. If you go anyway ( and it IS a lovely hostel), I suggest taking earplugs.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The manager was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day. Towels changed.
Cons: The kitchen facilities were a bit limited, but sufficient. No sink in the kitchen.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hannah was amazing, very helpful with everything we needed and she even went the extra mile to help us book our tour. Very clean and comfortable room, super cheap.
Cons: Location wasn't that great (didn't have a view) but was good value for money
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice people, pick up at the beach and shuttle service to the beach.
Cons: Very simple accommodation, the door has big room under it and at the sides so we were a bit worried about insects or snakes getting in. Also the rooms get very hot.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is really helpful.
Cons: There is a disco around quite noisy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hannah was very friendly and accommodating. She let us park our car at the property for a few nights while we took a boat to another location down the coast, which was very helpful. The room was clean and a good value for the price.
Cons: The property was difficult to find from the main road....there needs to be more signage for it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money! Nice rooms! Fantastic owner!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Large clean room. Large modern shower room with warm water. Wonderful thick, white soft towels changed daily. 2 strong fans to keep the room cool. Room cleaned daily. Nice to be able to sit outside in peace and quiet. Henar was very friendly and helpful. Down a little dirt track off main road but nice and peaceful with birdsong in the gardens. Loud disco nearby which finished at 2am. Didn't hear it every night but take ear plugs just incase. Great supermarket 2 minutes away. .
Cons: Fridge in room would have made it perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were helpful sorting out our transport and tours. The room was really big with a nice area outside for relaxing and drying clothes.
Cons: The kitchen

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room is just breath taking. We had hummingbirds and macaws flying all around us and watched a lighting storm across the bay. For such a great price, we really enjoyed our stay!
Cons: Bed was a little bit hard and water came through the roof a little bit in the storm.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff, kindest of costa rica.
Cons: It would be nice if there was ac available. Other than that, it was great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view is great! You will be picked up at the peer because the boat captain calls the hotel to tell them that you are on your way. We booked the tour to the Sirena Station in the National Park through the hotel (90$ per person, that’s the usual price) and that day we received breakfast before leaving. The staff is really nice. The cabins are simple but you’ll find everything you need. There is a kitchen to use and a communal area to chat, play games, eat...
Cons: The green parrots sleep in the tree in front of the cabins so it gets really noisy at 5 o clock in the morning. That didn’t bother us but if you are sensible for sounds in your sleep you should have that in mind.
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful view on the ocean, well situated in the Drake village. Personnel was kind
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the view!
7.9 Good
Pros: The view is just great and the terrace was perfect! The room was quite small but very clean and the bathroom as well.
Cons: I have missed a small place in the room to get the wet towels dry.
6.7 Good
Pros: We liked being greeted by our host when we got off our water taxi. Our room had great views of the bay. We liked the idea of having access to a shared kitchen since it allows you to not eat out every meal.
Cons: Drake Bay is not set up for the increase in travelers that are now coming here. Open sewars of waste seems to be expelled into the bay in the center of town. The drinking water from town is not safe for travelers to drink so they must purchase water bottles or travel with a filter to limit environmental impact. I would advise other travelers to find out if their accommodation has a tap with filtered water before booking with them.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful. The views were exceptional
Cons: The position of the accommodation built into the hill was extremely high and lots of steep steps to get to your room. The kitchen was quite a distance from the rooms , maybe an electric jug in each room would be good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms were sparkling clean every afternoon we came back from our activities. The view over Drake bay from the terrace is amazing.
Cons: The rooms got very hot and sticky and the fan just doesnt quite do its job. The rooms and the kitchen (for self use) could need a bit of an update to get rid of the filthy look.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was fabulous. The location was good with good eating spots around.
Cons: The knife in the common kitchen had a funny smell to them.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1) We had a small kitchen in our room which was perfect for cooking simple meals. It was equipped with a coffee maker, pans, silverware, plates, and a small refrigerator. 2) The room, bathroom and kitchen where absolutely immaculate! I have never stayed in a hotel that was this clean. Also, many hotels in Costa Rica tend to have a musty smell, this smelled super fresh. They clearly take very good care of the property. 3) The beds were extremely comfortable. 4) Mauri, the receptionist, was very helpful in assisting us to plan our time in Drake Bay. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. 5) We ate dinner one night at the restaurant and the food was delicious!
7.9 Good
Pros: restaurant is very good. staff is very kind. they allow us to store our laggage when we joined over night tour. kitchen has bottled water and coffee machine is useful. location is 10 min far from center of town and it was good for us, silent and many wild birds.
Cons: it was my fault but i misunderstood our room grade. photo of room on web site is high grade room's. I expected the room has air conditioner but down grade room only has fan. we should better check more carefully.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Basic but perfect for a single room and clean. Kitchen facilities with everything you need...
7.5 Good
Pros: Restaurant is good & Early opening to be able to do tour in early morning Nice and friendly people Rooms are large
Cons: No airco
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very accommodating, going the extra mile to assist us. Our room was much bigger than expected (having 2 doubles and 2 singles within it) and was equipped with a couple of fans and air-con, there was also a kitchenette and private bathroom, with a decent hot shower. Mosquito nets hung over the bed, but thankfully we had no need to use them. It is located only about 700m away from the main beach where boats dock and about 300m from another entry onto a more secluded beach. Plus there are a few decent restaurants within walking distance. A 'private' porch with a hammock is an excellent touch and also provides an area to dry clothes. Breakfast was convenient and could be a limited (4) selection of traditional options We were able to book to have an early breakfast the night before, which was served fairly promptly with varying degrees of success in terms of the correct order.
Cons: The music within the restaurant was slightly odd, 15 minute long trance tunes aren't my cup of tea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was close to the beach and to the village. A great restaurant right on the property. Laundry facilities just across the road. Very clean and simple. The staff were very helpful and genuine, going out of their way to make sure we had a nice time.
Cons: Nothing. It was perfect for us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful, booking tours for us and holding our bags. Maureen met us off the boat on the beach and helped us carry our bags. They place is good value for Drake bay.
Cons: The WiFi didn't work for one of the days after a power cut.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great lil spot! Super friendly Staff, Fell in love with their lil daughter Estella, and their new puppy. Close to everything.
Cons: Glad they have a kitchen but needs a few things, better pots and pans or a couple more. A second burner,( crowded when 3 or more trying to cook. Better knives ( I'm a chef) or a second one. And maybe some oil onsite for sauteing. Other than that clean organized kitchen....Oh a a ceiling fan! it was sooo hot in there! My first room had a table and chairs, second one did not, it would be nice to have a table in the rooms Restaurant was great food, portions could be a bit bigger for the price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great. First, we were picked-up at the boat which we did not expect. Actually, it is a pretty bumpy way when you need to walk with your backpack. For sure you won't manage walking with luggage. At Mirian's they arranged snorkeling and the trip to Corcovado for us and they even walked us to the meeting place. We had a great breakfast at Carey's next door and their provided dinner was also good. The room itself was simple but complete including a little, cute kitchen
Cons: The view into the garden was more a view onto parking cars. Still, they do efforts and planting beautiful bushes that attract birds and butterflies
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mirian, the owner is very kind and ready to help you organize. Rooms were very clean and the position, 5 min from the beach.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in VILLA CECROPIA, a lovely apartment that was sparkling clean, with an extensive deck that is surrounded by beautiful rainforest. The deck was well-equiped with a hammock, cute dining table with 4 stools, and multiple reclining patio chairs for couples and group travelers to make themselves comfortable while viewing toucans, scarlet macaws, humming birds, Hawks, vultures, and much more that would perch themselves on trees around the deck (so long as you stay extremely silent and still so you don't scare them away). We also loved having a laundry machine in the apartment, along with ice-cold AC which kept the mosquitoes and other biting bugs away (Note: bugs only got in because we left the door open a bit too long when entering and exiting at night. When we first arrived to the apartment, it was SPARKLING clean, and we could see how well they cared for the place). We also liked having a kitchen on site as well, though the 2 pots and 1 frying pan are old: the inner non-stick coating is peeling off, so I wouldn't recommend using them. We did enjoy making great vegetable and fruit salads though. And it was very nice to have a refrigerator for milk, yogurt, etc. Emilio, the owner, was extremely hospitable and helpful with anything we needed (including arranging taxi to and from the airport, and giving us great tips on where to easily see wildlife in town. There was an adorable sloth in the tree behind the bakery!). Emilio can also help arrange any tours you like. He does everything possible to ensure his guests are happy and comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again when we return! Gracias Emilio!!
Cons: The place would be perfect if the kitchen had newer pots and a pan. The existing 2 pots and 1 frying pan are old: the inner non-stick coating is peeling off, so I'd recommend replacing them with new ones to ensure healthy cooking. Other than that, the apartment is beautiful!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The apartment is completely new, the kitchen is wonderful and the beds are comfortable.
Cons: The water in the shower not hot and strong enough.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The nature is gorgeous. Emilio is very helpful and u can book tours directly with him, Nativos Corcovado.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everthing
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the villa with our 2 kids aged 4 & 6. Beds were comfy, air con was great. We only used the kitchen for breakfast but it was really useful having a large fridge, and a washing machine and drying lines. When we could bear being outside in the heat the balcony was great!
Cons: The only negative was the walk up the hill in the heat. We knew the villa was 800m away from the beach but hadn't realised just how hot it would be in April! We ended up always getting a taxi up the hill during the day as we were melting!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rented a house - clean and great view of forest - hummingbirds etc - Emilio was wonderful and arranged all tours for us
Cons: None
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Emilio's warm welcome and help at ALL times (he gave us many advices, offered to clean clothes, was very flexible with the time of our breakfasts etc) The fact that Emilio spontaneously upgraded us from the double room to the Bungalow with sea view because it was unbooked and without extra charge Therefore, great value for money It was always nicely cleaned every day Great location (just next to boat departure and nice bars/restaurants)
Cons: We didn't sleep well due to the noise of the fan which we needed to use to its maximum because of the heat (there is no AC but we understand this is the case of many hotels in Drake for ecological reasons and we approve) and also due to the very soft mattress
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was the best! We had to get up early due to our Corcovado tour but the owner was there to make sure it was all perfect. The room itself (triple) was basic but we did not need more then that. The owner knows a lot about the place and in my case he was very helpful and honest about the diving. The diving is overpriced with the schools in my opinion and were not being completely honest. Of course not the accommodation his fault but worth mentioning is to check with the owner if diving/snorkeling is worth paying.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful back porch. The laundry room was a big plus! Spacious, comfortable and clean! Ideal for a large group or family! Our host, Emilio, was very attentive!
Cons: Getting used to the early morning traffic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The review scores of the lodge are so different because they have multiple types of rooms that are very different: very basic and noisy and close to the reception, as well as private bungalows/cabins that are much more comfortable. We stayed in a villa that is 800 meters from the reception and the beach, the only room they have with airconditioning (which you really need in Drake because of the heat and humidity). Since we were there in the dry season, it was easy to drive to Drake using a 4x4. It is about an hour on an unsealed road with 4 river crossings, but the water was only about 20 cm (8 inches) deep if you cross at the right point. Because we were there by car (as we could drive if we wanted to), the location of the villa was perfect as it is quiet there (no traffic or noise from other guests). The beds are good, there is a kitchen so you can self-cater if you like, TV with Netflix, good Wifi, and washing machine. The balcony has a great view of the jungle. The owner Emilio is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about tours et cetera.
Cons: The layout of the villa is a bit strange, as you can only reach the kitchen through the balcony. For us this was not a problem, but if you are staying with more people take into account that all beds are located in the same space. The other staff apart from Emilio is not as friendly and does not speak English.

Pros: Practically everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The magnificent views, wildlife on your doorstop, friendly staff.
Cons: The hike up the stairs to get to the rooms :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff and Resturant/kitchen staff were excellent. We had a medical issue and Carlos, the hotel manager, made the arrangements for 2 doctor visits, personally drove us and stayed to translate the doctor's instructions. We needed boiling water for a treatment and the kitchen staff were very accommodating. They saved our holiday! The food was delicious and pleasing presentation. Had a good wine selection. The Chef, Shirley, is an asset to the hotel.
Cons: The hotel owners need to upgrade the bar and kitchen .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A hearty breakfast was offered daily, that served us well given the energy burning activities we had booked through the hotel-all of which were well organized with engaging tour guides. We elected to stay in the units below, without air conditioning and thoroughly enjoyed the sound of the surf lulling us to sleep each night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Website totally undersells this place. Amazing restaurant with delicious food right on site too! Room was very spacious and comfortable too.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, amazingly beautiful setting. Restaurant is amazing. Chef is Italian and is excellent. If you are looking for good Italian and Spanish it's great. You must make reservations in the morning. All the people are very helpful. Breakfast is also great.
Cons: My only complaint is that there is not any air conditioning in most of the rooms. The ones that do have it are not accessible yet and there are many stairs to climb. I really wanted to give this place the best, but, that is the only issue. Giovanni, Rolando and all the guys are great. Very hard working and honest. We will be back as long as we can get an air conditioned room. Pura Vida.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic. Location. Great kitchen. Great people. Night tour was amazing , we saw the fer de lance snake . Corcovado tour and snorkeling also good
Cons: The room we had was too basic with little privacy . The walls are thin . The rooms need to be modernized
10.0 Excellent
Pros: fantastic location, staff, trips and food
Cons: cant think of anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff is very friendly, flexible to guests' special needs and very professional. The hotel restaurant is delicious, a very nice atmosphe and dishes are high quality. Our room was huge, very comfortable, clean and had the best view of the Drake Bay. The hotel helped us organize tours to Corcovado park which were punctual and excellent in general. Transfers to and from Sierpe by boat also met our expectations. I recommend this hotel 100%.
Cons: The boat transfers and Corcovado park entrance fees are much lower for Costa Rican nationals. This is not made clear in the hotel website. The hotel will make a discount to nationals if they ask for it, but this should be done by default.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and nice, they cleaned the room every day. The owner Ivan was really nice. He helped us organising the tours. I went diving and he also drove me early in the morning to the meeting point. The restaurants and the beach are all very close in walking distance.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Clean sheets and bathroom.
Cons: Without knowing Drake, it seems to be on the seaside of town with a view. It is not. It is a small valley in the outskirts backed up against the forest. The outside area is a gravelled driveway, there is no outside furniture, no view and the WiFi hardly worked for receiving update notices. But for just sleeping and moving on, I guess it is OK, but a bit expensive for the four of us.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Ivan was a great host. He made us fresh coffee, gave us fresh fruit from his own trees, dried our soaking wet trainers and helped our onward travel plans. We couldn't have asked more of a host.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The very friendly host Ivan helped us with very well with transportation. They gave us free drinking water and some delicious watermellon. The rooms are basic but spacious and the facillities are clean and great. Also we got a quick cleaning everyday that we stayed. We did an overnight tour to corcovado and they were happy to hold our luggage for one night. Hammocks and chairs out front for some relaxing. Definately recommend this place!
Cons: -
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money. Location a few minutes walk from the main town but that was nice because it was quieter and could hear jungle noises. Clean, good size room.
Cons: No breakfast included or kitchen to use but there was a fridge in the room which was useful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good fan. Pick up from the beach on arrival. Friendly owners. Clean. Fridge in room. Hammocks outside
Cons: Bit of a leak behind the toilet but didn't flood the bathroom too much.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was big, clean, furnished with a small fridge. The owner was very nice and helped us out with some bowls for the breakfast (there is no kitchen). Good value for money !
Cons: The small garden could have been better arranged to enjoy the view which is not the best of Drake.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ivan and his family were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He was able to offer advice and guidance on the local area and excursions. The rooms are comfortable, clean and excellent value for money compared to others in the area. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was cool and clean. Sweet, friendly owners, fresh bananas.
Cons: Lack of light for reading, loud road noise off and on throughout the night, envied those with a cool terrace to hang out and watch the ocean in the heat of the day

Cons: During rainy season ways up to the lodge can get muddy and slippery
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location and had the chance to see many wildlife from our room's balcony. More the family taking care of the place has been the loveliest, we added nights during our stay and it wasn't a problem. It is also possible to have dinner and breakfast at the property, it was probably our best meals in Drake Bay and also the cheapest.
Cons: The bed was a little bit too hard for us and after few days our back started to feel it .. Otherwise it was a perfect stay . Thank you !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly owner who went out of his way to help us with car problems. Just far enough from the centre to be quiet and secure, but easy walking distance to restaurants.
Cons: You need to be able to walk up a very steep slope to get to reception and terrace.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and location, tasty dinners (simple and delicious) and a fantastic view from the terraces on the sea.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner, Michael was very friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was great, and they kept everything very clean and tidy in our room. Very nice vibe there. Beautiful view as well!! I’d definitely go back there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The look has amazing views of the ocean and wildlife. The staff were helpful and the food was delicious.
7.5 Good
Pros: Related to its Drake Bay location -good price/ value relation. Good breakfast Air conditioning ( in our. case) extremely important!Well functioning. Kind welcome ( in spanish)! Good communication ( but in spanish) Nice views -mirador only ca 2 min. walk from the main building !
Cons: Only Spanish speaking personnel-while booking communication only in Spanish as well ! Extremely narrow drive in-small parking lot on site. 4WD is a must while approaching WiFi only at the restaurant-not in the room No table in the room-only outside on the terrace shared with the neighbor. No glasses in the room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great place, chilled out without the tourist overload of places in the north. We loved it.
7.5 Good
Pros: I loved the view from the hotel, like no other. The restaurant will prepare you dinner if you reserve in advance and this was delicious. Very helpful owners.
Cons: The hill to walk up to the hotel was a mission
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great view over the bay and both breakfast and dinner were value for money
Cons: Mattresses were a bit hard, I personally prefer a little bit softer but I guess that’s personal taste...

Pros: Very excellent view to the ocean. Nice trips organized. Just e few meters by foot up the hill next to the beach.
Cons: Breakfast too expensive. But also very early possible (our tour startet at 6 am and we ate at 5.30 am).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location in Drake Bay and helpful staff. The view at the bay from the hotel is amazing. The room is spacious and has airco and a fridge, so you can cool down after a muggy day in beautiful Corcovado.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from our room was amazing, and the staff were very hospitable. Centrally located, steps away from where the boats land in Drake Bay, and also the surrounding restaurants/bars.
Cons: There are a lot of steps, but the view is worth it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. The view was gorgeous and loved the hammock on the porch
Cons: The stairs to getup there. But the view was worth it
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful. And very friendly and helpful. They were very kind to my disabled husband.
Cons: We didn’t know that we couldn’t drive to the lodge. My husband is on a cane and we didn’t know he would have to climb 117 stairs. I wouldn’t have made this booking if I had known how difficult access was to the lodge. The room was very plain and there was no privacy. We couldn’t open the curtains of the room. But the people were so nice that we were very happy
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is at a great location near the beach and the town. The air conditioner in the room worked very well. I loved that we had a balcony with a hammock overlooking the ocean. It was very tropical. The staff is very friendly.
Cons: The beds and pillows were a little too firm. There are a lot of birds surrounding the place and they are very loud. They are at their loudest at 5:30am. I understand that this is not something they can change.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Views from the top of the communal area were phenomenal. Lots of beautiful birds to see! Rooms were very clean. Air con was very efficient.
Cons: There wasn’t really a comfortable place to sit or relax in the afternoon once you get back from your day out. The seats were all wood which look nice and authentic but are incredibly uncomfortable to relax on.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our cabin was much larger than I expected and felt just like being in a treehouse. You could hear all sorts of wildlife at night, which I loved! The hammocks were a nice place for napping with an amazing view of Drake Bay and the garden full of hummingbirds. It's quite a climb up to the hotel but it's totally worth it!
Cons: The mattress was not very comfortable and the stairs down to the bathroom are a little dangerous (I almost slipped)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It's on the top of the hill ,120 steps each way, what a view
Cons: It's on the top of the hill ,120 steps each way

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing - incredible views and hiking and wildlife everywhere. The staff was super-friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks were delicious.
Cons: The accommodations/amenities were rustic - simple rooms with basic bedding. Off-grid means short periods of time without electricity.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location bordering Corcovado National Park. Loved long walks on the jungle trails. Pristine coconut palm lined beach. Laid back vibe
Cons: Not run by the hotel, but guests should be aware boats from Sierpa run overloaded and don’t have life jackets in children’s sizes
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My trip at Jungla del Jaguar blew away all expectations I had. The staff was incredibly friendly and knew the surrounding area so well. During my trip I went on plenty of hikes, explored bat caves, went cliff diving, and ate fresh mangoes and coconuts on the beach. It is the perfect getaway!
Cons: Everything was great!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I really enjoyed my time in Jungle del Jaguar , Perfect place in the middle of jungle , next to the ocean, surrounded by nature, wild animals make this place special. Many things to do , hostel offers many activities !I had a good rest !Amazing food-I.would say the best in Costa Rica;) Thank you Fernando!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was breathtaking. This is one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed, in that it is remote and wild yet offers nice cozy rooms and excellent food and personalized service. The tours were wonderful and may seem a bit pricey but are a great value. We saw a humpback whale in the water while snorkeling!
Cons: I did not mind and this added to our adventure, but it can be difficult to reach the beach landing at the lodge in bad weather so I would caution anyone with mobility concerns or those not comfortable in the ocean about this possibility, and that you may need to transfer to/from the site of the lodge to the boat via kayak if the water is choppy.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Bathroom and bedroom were durty. And you can't stay at the garden or at the beach because it's full of sandflys.. the marks are all over my body. I went ro playa rincon, wich is near by, and there were none.. and more animals. It's not worth it to go all the way there.. there are better beaches. And the guess kitchen was not nice and clean at all... and food served at the bar was expensive
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice location with beautiful view. You can start your own hiking trips directly at the hostel. You can spot monkeys and tucans in the garden. Tab water is filtered and drinkable. There is a guest kitchen to prepare your own food, which is recommendable because of the high restaurant prices. We recommend to bring your breakfast and lunch and have a nice dinner in the restaurant. If you like fish choose the catch of the day :)
Cons: The answers we received to our questions before getting to the place were not really informative. Next to the location is a small banana field with the sign “nada en la vida es gratis tampoco el banano” which seems to be the motto of the hosts due to the high prices they have for everything :(
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My favorite place to stay in the Osa Peninsula/Drake Bay Area. There’s so much to do and see here and they have some of the best beaches. There’s amazing wildlife on the property and hiking trails. P.S. the chef Fernando makes the best key lime pie
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hands down the most beautiful place I’ve been at in Costa Rica. Not touristy at all, the staff was extremely friendly. The wildlife is everywhere, monkeys, Tapir, toucans, scarlet macaws, the list is endless. We went free diving to the island on a trip with the owner LEO and he went above and beyond to show us a spectacular time. He was very patient with us even with our lack of experience in the water especially snorkeling!
Cons: Leaving
7.9 Good
Pros: If you're looking for 5* luxury, all mod cons and a clinical hotel experience this isn't going to be the place for you. Jungla del Jaguar is a little slice of paradise tucked away from it all in a remote location accessible by either a truly exhilarating boat ride or a hike through the jungle. Our accommodation (Cucula Cabin) was clean and bright with a fab bathroom. Swinging in the hammock in the heat of the afternoon, looking out over the palms, small beach and the Pacific was magical. Some of the other accommodation looks a bit tired, but the owner, Leo, is undertaking a programme of updating and refreshing. However, the Jungla del Jaguar experience is way more than the accommodation - the place has a really special vibe, with total strangers coming together in the spirit of adventure and discovery, sharing the day's experiences with each other over a great meal, a beer or a cocktail. We found the food to be good (especially the spear-caught fish) - it doesn't get much fresher. Service could be a bit hit and miss at times, but this in no way detracted from our stay. many of the staff are volunteers, turning their hands to whatever needs to be done - they're great, helpful and friendly - if they forget you've ordered a beer, don't sweat it, just ask again and it'll arrive. Some reviews have mentioned about snorkelling trips to Cano Island being cancelled at the last minute - having now stayed there for a few nights, I can entirely understand why. Leo has lived there for many years, he knows the waters around the place like we know the streets where we live. If the weather and sea conditions aren't right, or the visibility conditions underwater poor due to storms in preceding days, he won't waste your money by taking you somewhere where you'll barely be able to see. Also, you really don.t want to be doing a 40 minute boat ride across open and exposed waters unless the conditions for the next few hours are good.
Cons: Our trip to Corcovado (San Pedrillo Ranger Station) was disappointing, mainly because the guide didn't really seem to know his stuff (we ended up spotting birds and telling him what they were). It felt like the small group was hurried to a waterfall and then around a bit more of the trail before heading back to beach to wait for the boat to collect us. We really weren't expecting to see wild animals cavorting around every corner, but we felt that compared to other guides we'd used this was somewhat lacking. The saving grace was the appearance of a Baird's Tapir underneath a mango tree - truly wonderful experience and worth the $90 each for the trip alone.
