Convenient to interstate, shopping and lots of good food choices nearby.
Schlepping bags up stairs on an outdoor staircaseAbout what you'd expect for an economy level hotel. It's a place to sleep and shower. Having a WiFi is a plus.
closeness to turnpike
lack of customer service ability and unwillingness to work things throughwe orginally did a two night stay at the hotel and extended our stay by another day. the staff argued with us at original check in and i had to teach them to look ahead to see that we have an extended stay reservation. they wouldn't issue the door key for all 3 nights. instead they issued for one night. we had to have them re-issue for the second night and they made us check in again for the extended night. they didn't clean the room while we were gone. on the morning of the extended day we got a call at work that we weren't checked out and had to argue with them AGAIN that we had an extended stay reservation and were staying an additional night. If this stay hadn't been prepaid we would NOT have stayed at all but gone to one of their many neighbor hotels.
ease of access to the turnpike
staff needs customer service training and accuracy at performing tasks as wellThey gave us a key card for one day even though our stay was for two. We had an upstairs room even though one of us uses a cane. they expected us to go down to get the new door key even though it wasn't our fault. We asked for a 2 AM wake up call as we had to be to our business meeting at 4 AM and they didn't set it up. Overall an unpleasant experience. The hallways were dirty and worn down. The stairs to the second floor (no elevator) were hard to navigate with a cane and luggage. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
The breakfasts were free.
They didn't have any nonsmoking rooms and I had to take a smoking room, even though I called several days ahead. The room had been redone and was nice, but the area outside it was shabby. If you are a smoker and want to be near the airport in Albany, it's a pretty good choice. Pretty much every other motel in the area looked better from the outside. I didn't see a van, so you might have to take a cab to get to the motel from the airport.
The price was great.
I didn't realize until it was too late that there wasn't a coffee pot in the room.
Management let me check in 90 minutes early.
The service, the building, the quality of the room, and the location.Puts the economy in Econo Lodge. I walked in the front door to an empty desk, waited for one person to help me, and waited again for 'the other guy' to actually check me in. First room was almost entirely behind the cinder block brick wall leading up to the second floor. Felt like you were in a cave. After asking for a room change, not without resistance from the front desk (seriously?), I was put in a second room. While it had a clear view to the HoJo next door, it was so musty I had to check to make sure it was a non-smoking room (it was). As I got settled in, I noticed not one, not two, but three flies in the room. Just gross. Don't worry future guests, I killed them. Also, don't expect anything great in the free continental breakfast - you'll have the choice of cheerios, chex, or a mini muffin. Next time I kick in the extra bucks f...
It is basic, clean, safe, good and just about what to expect for price. The free breakfast that is offered is kinda a joke. What there is are bagels, donuts, coffee, oj, and cereal. Wifi sometimes worked.
Breakfast could have been more. Wi fi connection better.
The room was acceptable, but the bathroom doorway spacer was taped with duct tape which looked poor and it had no refrigerator which would have been better. Otherwise, it served it's purpose. For a one-night stay it was acceptable. I wouldn't want to stay there for an extended 3 or more night stay.
The front desk worker, Muhammed, was very nice and helped me with directions.
The room was very musty. The comforter on the bed was not very warm, and was very scratchy. The sink was plugged up. The WiFi did not work the morning I left.I was not very pleased with my stay. I hated that I was on the second floor, and had to drag my large suitcase up the stairs. The room smelled as soon as I walked in. I washed my face shortly after arriving, and the sink filled up very quickly, and took a long time to drain back out. The WiFi worked the night I arrived, but not the morning after. The breakfast was very bland as well. I would not stay at this hotel again. The only thing I have to say that was positive was Muhammed that worked the front desk. He was very nice and helpful!
