9.5 Excellent
Pros: I booked this guesthouse for some family/friends of mine who were attending our wedding nearby. The feedback from the guests that stayed at Cambeiros was very positive, they found the Guesthouse charming, comfortable and in a beautiful area.
Cons: As my guests had to travel frequently between the guesthouse and the wedding venue it would have been helpful to be able to pre-arrange some transfers/taxis. Particularly as this is a pretty remote part of Portugal it was a little tricky being able to co-ordinate transport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality. The breakfast was wonderful, with a great variety of home made pastries. The location is spectacular, with a truly countryside view amid vineyards.
Cons: Having to leave so soon
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The emvironment and the friendly staff
Cons: The access was a litle rough
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful guesthouse, nice views and very friendly and helpfull host and personnel. We got stuck with our car in the evening and José helped us immediately the day after. Due to that we could relax in the end and have a very nice time over there. Wish we could have stayed longer, certainly go back some time and we highly recommand this awesome spot!
6.8 Good
Pros: Very friendly personal. Perfect location if you want to have a site in the middle of nowhere.
Cons: The location indicator on BOOKING.COM was misleading: The hotel is NOT in the centre of the vilage but some kilometres outside. Only accessible via unpaved road. Not recommended with rented car as it might get some scratches.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice views of the valley, modern, friendly staff, stylish pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bottle of wine with the room, great space, top shower and friendly staff who were more than willing to help, arranged taxi's at our request.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: OMG! The place far exceed my expectations , starting from facilities, really nice well decorated & comfortable rooms an outdoor area where you can relax and enjoy the quietness of the place, breakfast was 5 star, but what really stood out for me was the staff really friends , Jose went above and beyond to make sure everything was ok . We were attending a weeding and he used his personal car to transfer us from and to the venue. I will definitely be back in the future !
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I made a reservation for 1 night at the Guest House because we were flying out of Lisbon the next morning. We were greeted by Jose, who's family owns the place. The property is quite new (1 1/2 years) and the grounds and view are terrific. The rooms are very nice and include a complimentary bottle of local wine. The morning breakfast was cooked by Jose' Mother and was delicious. Homemade jams, cake and yes.....piping hot Croissants! Yummy! If you live in Lisbon and are looking for a quiet weekend getaway, this is the perfect place for you. I wish we could have stayed a few nights, rather than just 1, because the place is beautiful.
Cons: I would have rated them Exceptional on in all categories, but we had 2 issues with our room (#1). First, the room had a peculiar odor in it that we couldn't get rid of, even when we closed the bathroom door and turned on the air conditioner. My wife's nose is considerably better than mine, I could smell it, but it didn't keep me up for the night. Secondly, the Espresso machine in our room didn't work. That was not a big deal because we were served breakfast in the dining room of the main building. However, it would have been nice to have a coffee in the room. I made Jose aware of both of these issues and he planned to address them right away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet surrounded by nature, confortable room, attention to details and breakfast
Cons: The road that access to property

Pros: We loved staying at the property. The hosts were very welcoming and the hour was comfortable . Breakfast was Yum.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts Claire and Daniel were very lovely people who made us feel welcome the moment we met.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claire and Daniel couldn’t have been more gracious, helpful or attentive. The property is beautiful with breathtaking views. Breakfast was superb. There’s a lovely pool. We had an early flight on Sunday morning. Daniel woke up early to make breakfast and coffee for us. Daniel speaks many languages. Claire and Daniel were genuinely interested in learning about. They are superb hosts. We would love to return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed extra comfy and the excelence of the breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was incredible, the place was amazing and the owners were very kind and helpful. Very clean! Great breakfast!!
Cons: The road to the place wasn't good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect and owners could not have been more welcoming.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I picked the accommodation mainly based on photos and the general rating. Well I must say the photos still don’t do justice to what we really had. Firstly, the place is beautiful, the landscape and the house will make you disconnect from the rest of the world. The pool was always at the right temperature and most importantly, Claire and Daniel are the nicest hosts one could ask for. They take care of every single detail to make sure you enjoy your stay to the fullest. The rooms are well arranged and breakfast is delicious. We had some very pleasant conversations in several languages, and enjoyed their company and tips around the area. One thing to note: this is a slightly remote area though not far from the airport of Lisbon, so be sure to have a car, otherwise access will prove difficult. If you’re coming for a wedding (pretty common in the area) they can even help arranging a taxi.
Cons: If I’m honest? That we had to leave :( wish we had planned at least one day longer but we’re sure coming back soon!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claire and Daniel were amazing hosts! They treated us like old friends and made us feel completely at home. We can’t recommend enough!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We're just back in Norway after a short stay at Claire & Daniels place and we couldn't be more happier with our experience. We were at Aldeia Gavinha for a wedding, so unfortunately we didn't had enough time to enjoy the pool and the amazing views, however I've never stayed at a place as clean as this one, and Claire & Daniel really went the extra mile to meet our needs and keep us happy. They borrowed us the iron and the ironing board so that we could iron our clothes for the wedding, and Claire made us homemade cake for breakfast "with love" as she said with a smile. Because we weren't aware of the distances around the property and the places we needed to be, we didn't rent a car (now we know we should have) so Daniel offered to take us to a near restaurant and gave us the contact for a Taxi company who could pick us up at any time of the day and night. As if this wasn't perfect enough, we had to check-out around 4:30 in the morning due to an early flight, so Claire & Daniel prepared us some cake and juice for the road, since we didn't had time for breakfast (even though they offered beforehand). Overall we were really happy with our stay. Thank you once again, Claire & Daniel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Only good service could be more diverse for lunc or dinner
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and it is in a lovely place. Very nice rooms.
Cons: The quiet location has the disadvantage that there is not much around, so dinner might be an issue, especially if you do not speak portuguese or spanish.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely guesthouse! Staff were very helpful and informative. Even did our laundry! We were doing the Portuguese Camino and walked 5 km from Azambujo to guesthouse, but it was worth the extra kms.Room very spacious and very clean. A lovely swimming pool and a lot of public space. Lovely breakfast!
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything was brilliant. Pool lovely. Very quiet place. Gorgeous
Cons: This place is amazing. Small things. We selected a double instead of twin and the double was 2 singles together that's fine though and the wifi not high speed so couldn't stream tv but was good enough for work mails etc
6.8 Good
Pros: It was quiet at night despite two other guests being there. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The reception was not that warm. Nothing was explained about the area, so we did not find it that nice (nothing to visit nearby). When we went to use the pool we found it was very cold and soon after 6 or 7 unaccompanied kids came. I found out later that they were family members of the owner. There were two other paying guests that came to lounge outside, but unfortunately the atmosphere was very noisy due to the splashing and shouting etc. The breakfast was disappointing after the rave reviews. We paid the most to stay here on our 2 week trip and it was definitely the biggest let down. Such warm welcomes with wine or sweets elsewhere and much better value...a whole house for less than the price of two rooms here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything perfect, just eggs would have been nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice garden, friendly staff, clear communication, thoughtful service!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is family owned, the property has been in the family for 3 generations. The hotel is only 3 years old, rebuilt from a wine warehouse. New, modern, comfortable, with a very special personal attention from the owner and the staff. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, taking care of all the details. The yard is big and has a nice swimming pool. It is located 4.5 kms from downtown Azambuja in a quiet and relaxing environment. Excellent in every way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding.. one of the best. Everyone is wonderful
Cons: A bit away from town. Beautiful country setting made up for the distance from town..
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location in countryside for last night in Portugal before driving to airport 38 minutes away. Beautifully renovated Quinta with lovely pool area. Comfortable room and bed. Breakfast was perfect and coffee was delish.
AL embaixador - Alenquer - Building

8.9 Excellent (268 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room. Sympathetic staff. Superb location within Alenquer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room itself is way bigger and better than I thought.
Cons: No clear instruction for checkin or no clear sign at the front gate. We waited for more than 15 mins under the heat for the staff to arrive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was really good. The office lady was super friendly. We even got a little jam as a treat. Thank you for!
7.5 Good
Pros: the staff and central location
Cons: All rooms apart from 1 were small and bathrooms even smaller
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and spacious room.
Cons: It was very cold the heater was not adequate for the size of the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very central location and easy to find. It feels like a house, with a living area and the different rooms. The property had good finishes of good quality. We stayed for our wedding night as we had our wedding nearby and had some nice touches on the bed (rose petals), which was a good surprise.
Cons: The big shower head lookes so good, but when we tried it was disappointing as the water flow was not consistent throughout the shower head. The toiletries were just big tubs of shower gel and shampoo - perhaps little toiletries would make the difference. The decoration looked a bit bare, and with such beautiful finishes (fireplace, high ceilings, big windows) it was a shame that the owners did not go for a more expensive look.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely liked everything: perfect location, very nice host, big, tidy and quiet bedroom, very clean bathroom and excellent facilities - 2 lifts, a crib for our 4 month old baby and we even had cake and coffee upon arrival in the lounge room! We totally recommend staying at Al embaixador.
Cons: N/A.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great bed, large and bright room, nice bathroom

Pros: The host is really nice and friendly despite of the fact that she speaks only portuguese. She made us feel like hosted by a friend.
Cons: I missed the bath in my room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Huge room, comfortable bed, so clean, secure, in the middle of alenquer, beside bus stop and taxi rank
Cons: Would be amazing if there was an iron & kettle

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was friendly and helpful, and welcomed us with a beer and some delicious orange cake. The facilities are good, with a room near the pool where you can eat, and a family room with table tennis and some other things set up. There’s a supermarket within walking distance. We had a weird mix up where our hostess offered to book us into a good restaurant but when we got there, via the supermarket to get cash (all on foot), the restaurant was full and hadn’t heard from her. We ended walking all the way back to the supermarket and picked up some food to eat by the pool which was actually quite nice after two weeks of big dinners.
Cons: We were going to be charged €5 each to use the swimming pool, and since we were leaving too early to have breakfast this seemed an unnecessary and unfair fee (that isn’t mentioned in the ad). There’s no card facility so you need to pay cash and as it was our last night in Portugal we had deliberately run ourselves out. Seems like this should also be in the ad.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was extremely friendly, showing me around and explaining everything. Also arranged a taxi the following morning. Room, maybe a touch small, was ok with a double bed, wardrobe, seating/extra bed(?). Could also sit outside the room with a view over the town, or there was a pool are you sit. Excellent facilities, pool, sauna, hot tub, pool table.
Cons: Travelling ‘on foot’ it was not readily accessible unless you are specifically travelling through the town. I was lucky to flag down a passing taxi at the nearest train station a few KM away. Property is on a hill, so has a rather steep road to walk or drive up...but once there a good view over the town/area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was amazing. We were invited in the evening for FREE tea/ coffee and various cakes. She treated us like her family. Breakfast was excellent with eggs from their farm. All in all one of the best hostess we had.
6.3 Good
Pros: The host lady was very kind and nice Good for one night
Cons: Very dificult to find the place with google maps. In the room we got the heater a radiator was not enough and the room was cold. The sheets felt humid may be because the heavy rain that night
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely view - though you do need to be fairly fit if you want to walk back from town - no great distance but steep. The hostess was very friendly & provided tea and cake on arrival.
Cons: The 10 euros each that we were asked for for use of the pool was a bit much out of our budget for one night so we never saw the pool without its cover - admittedly the description did mention a charge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maria, was very pleasant to chat with she went out of her was to make us comfortable, the breakfast was homemade and delicious.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, freshly laid eggs every day
Cons: With the fresh eggs comes a noisy hen, bring the ear plugs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yummy cake always available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like home away from home. Could relax.
6.3 Good
Pros: Swimming Pool was nice and clean. There is playing room with tennis table, mini golf (free) and pool and table football (additionally paid). A lot of chairs, arm chairs allow ou to spend time on the air.
Cons: First of all te smell in the rooms like incense was unbearable. The beds were too hard. And the breakfasts were repetetive and not tasty at all. The cheapest products from Continente shop. We were dissapointed. And the hosts are not speaking English well so it causes additional problems.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place, best breakfast of all the places we stayed. Amazing views! Great swimming pool and very beautiful rooms. Excellent value!
7.7 Good
Pros: The owner is fantasic, we muddles through in a mixture of English, French and Portuguese and she was only too glad to help out at every possible opportunity. She makes her own cakes, cheese, jams etc and they are all available to try. It was a very warm and friendly experience.

Pros: The room had a couch. The host was very kind and welcoming, although she spoke very little English. The dining room was like in a castle. The owners had several dogs who came to greet us at breakfast (so cute and friendly!).
Cons: The bathroom was very loud. The owner was smoking in the kitchen, while we were having breakfast, so some smoke came in the dining room, which was not nice.

Cons: Maybe we felt littel cold as outside temperature this weekend in April was not so high & there was no heating.

Pros: Very nice property very well located, cosy and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and nice.
Cons: Rooms can be slightly noisy. Nothing particularly unpleasant - city hotels are most noisier - but a bit counterproductive given that most people who stay in such a remote place are looking for absolute peace and quiet.

6.8 Good
Pros: Everything was clean and equipment ok
Cons: I was received by the (friendly) cleaning lady who didn't speak English. The house was being renovated so that the terrace was not available. The beds are not big. The bathroom is really small.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room, modern furnishing, kind owner
Cons: It's a little bit isolated from the city center
9.5 Excellent
Pros: clean and comfy, has everything you need, highly recommended
Cons: organise your arrival time as no-one lives on site
5.8 Okay
Pros: Sort of cheap I guess. It had all the basic needs even if the most important ones weren’t working
Cons: Location was seedy, air-con didn’t work even though it was summer. The place smelled like there was a leak or the sewer was backing up and there was a tiny little window to try and air the room out. Needless to say I didn’t stay one night of the three days I booked for, I cut my losses and stayed at the Quinta de São Martinho 1 klm away as i couldn’t explain the problem to the host as she did not speak a word of English. Also hard to get to if you have luggage. Probably should be cheaper to stay in based on the quality.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was met by a very friendly lady who didn't speak English but had a young lady with her to assist with translating. The room was large and comfortably furnished with air-conditioner and a TV (no English channels). There is a shared kitchen which was kept scrupulously clean.
Cons: My room faced the road and was quite noisy. Neighbours' dogs barking, traffic in the evenings and people talking in loud voices all carried up from street level.
