I was given a cheaper room upon check-in & never refunded my money. Also there was an ant crawling on the mirror before bed & then at breakfast, I set my bagel on a napkin, on the table for 30 seconds while I grabbed something & came back to it covered in ants!!!
gave us a break in price due to changes. Quiet even though we were on the road side of the hotel. Upgrading facility after being sold to Quality Inns w/o informing us of change. Chemical smells.
Friendliness and accomodation by the staff and overall luxury of facility not applicable
Room was beautiful, bell staff was extremely great and cheerful! Front desk staff seemed to have an attitude and weren't overly welcoming or friendly, wished the lighting in the bathroom was better, didn't like the setup of the sink/vanity/mirrors. Not functional for putting on makeup or if 2 people wanted to use the mirrors at the same time. Also a tub would have been nice.
First time to Portland and The Nines had it all, location, convenience, style, etc. i booked off Kyak and couldn't be more pleased. I expect to be back multiple times next year.
great room, excellent restaurant
There is no pool at this hotel. It's a good hotel but I certainly wouldn't categorize it as a 5 star. You'd expect better room equipments and facilities. I haven't ever seen a 5 star hotel with no pool. Also parking is very expensive. $47/night is very expensive especially for weekend and holiday stays. I recommend to park at street.
Very fun and unique place. Great staff. Free bicycles and shuttle services for guests. Complimentary tea and coffee in your room. Located near several bars and restaurants. Will be back. One of the door guys was a little rude. He was short in his responses and seemed bothered by simple questions. Not really a big deal though. Didn't take away at all from my great experience at the hotel. Maybe he was just having a bad day .
We stayed two nights for a fun weekend trip. The beds were super comfortable and the location was great! Our favorite part was the bikes they have available for you to take out to explore the city!! We had a blast and would highly recommend this hotel!
Great location, staff super friendly. Parking wasn't expensive but unexpected cost.
Good location with included bike rentals. There wasn't AC in the room.
Loved the duvets. With there was a hot tub. Also, lots of homeless people camped very close to hotel made area less than great for walking around at night.
Fun location right on the river. Clean, modern hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The great location means that you will hear the noise (sometimes very loud) of an festivities happening on the river.
All was good The blankets were a little confusing..
Great staff. Clean. Outdated heating system. Was stuck on all night in one of our rooms. No air conditioning. Old bed linens. Frayed sheets.
It happened to be 100 degrees that day in Portland and my air conditioning in the room went out. They immediately came to my room and while facilities management couldn't fix it they moved me very quickly to new room and one with a better view. I arrived in Portland at 9 am ( I know check in time is 4 pm) but I travel often and it's generally never a problem to get a room by noon. They told me they would call me when a room was ready. I called at 1:30 pm to see what the eta of my room would be. The front desk woman at that time was short and seemed put out when she said "it's ready". Don't offer a call back service if you aren't going to follow through.
Room was comfortable and clean, restaurant was good, and location was extremely convenient to exploring downtown Portland. There is NO soundproofing in this hotel, so bring earplugs (or get some from the front desk). You will hear street noise, river noise, train noise, and TONS of noise from other guests.
Hotel Rose is what it is: a recently renovated motel. It's clean and comfortable, and staff are friendly. But to call it a four-star hotel is a real stretch, in terms of amenities and service. Compared to other downtown luxury hotels, this is a big step down at the same price. The bathroom is tiny, with outdated fixtures and mold stains. The provided toiletries are cheesy Tommy Bahama brand with an intense pina colada scent that I was a bit embarrassed to smell like all day. The bed only comes with a comforter, strangely folded on top of a bare fitted sheet, so you have to make your own bed. The king bed comes with two of these, each covering half the bed. Just weird. When I asked the front desk for room service to give me a top sheet, I was told I could find one in the closet and to make the bed myself.
The location is great, add parking is free!. The rooms were too hot as they only have central air, and they can only have either heat or air conditioning on at any given time. My room faced the highway and the train tracks, so it was quite loud. They did however provide earplugs. But because my room is so hot, I had to sleep with the windows open, and unfortunately both of the screens on my windows were so severely torn they were worthless. I informed the staff about the screens and the next day they were still torn when I returned. I called the manager and he immediately came up and fix the screens for me and offered me an upgrade to a suite. So overall not that bad!
they brought a mini-fridge on request. lots of plugs for charging. Nice location, close to waterfront park and quieter than mid town locations.
Location is great, facility is amazing, and staff was exceptional! Bed was a little firm but still got a good nights rest.
The location on the water front is potentially nice. (1) Took well over 1 hour to check in at 2;30PM -- no rooms available! (2) Noisy. Lots of ambient street noise
The view was beautiful. Very nice employees.
very walkable, close to theater and parks, walk to the river, I like a firmer bed but no one else in the party had bed issues
We were able to walk or catch the trolley and go anywhere we wanted. It is quite central so we could see lots of attractions Great place
The restaurant and friendly staff. In downtown Portland, but a bit far from certain attractions.
Location close to stores and downtown area Room was small. Bathroom was small. Bed was extremely loud and squeaky. Walls were thin
The resturNt downstairs was very good and the rooms are clean... Small but clean. The shower was kind of cheesy. It's great if it's just a crash pad. The Staff and valet service were all very nice The smaller rooms, shower felt cheap with crappy water pressure.
Windows open - - a great feature these days if you lIke a little fresh air. Wonderful staff and convenient enough location. A bit pricey, especially the valet parking.
Valet parking $38. No other real options.
The location and comfort made our trip an enjoyable first visit. Restaurant and accessibility from the interstate made it a stress free arrival, check in, check out... I don't know that we will stay at Modera for the price paid, again. Not a knock it is a gorgeous and friendly hotel. Great for a first visit.
Outdoor fire pits. Didn't work: AC, tv. 5$ for a bottle of water when the room is 200$ per night and tap water is gross seems cheap. Resturant was very expensive.
Nice location, lots of the city is walkable from here. The lobby is beautiful and the front desk staff made us feel very welcome. Once you get out of the lobby, the floors felt a bit dingy like they needed new carpets. The decor in the hallways felt a bit dated. Nothing particularly bad but just didn't feel quite polished. For the price I expected better.
I loved the front desk staff and the valet staff. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was extremely helpful with tips on activities in the area and food and restaurant choices. They didn't sound rehearsed with their suggestions. They really seemed enthusiastic about their choices which made us enthusiastic about trying them out. The valet staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. We left some items in our car that they had parked for us and they offered to retrieve them for us while we waited in the lobby. They greeted us every time we walked in and out the door and just seemed happy to be working there and not just working for tips. The customer service was greatly appreciated! The main negative comment I have is that their elevator is rickety and loud. I guess because we checked in at night, we got stuck with the room next to the elevator and you really can hear it every time it goes up and down. Luckily, we were just so exhausted from our daytime activities, we didn't have the energy to complain. Also, the housekeeping staff was a little intimidating. At around 4pm, we went back to our hotel room to freshen up and noticed that our room had still not been made. No big deal. We saw the housekeeping staff in the hallway and decided to tell them they can skip our room, but we wanted an extra towel and a new garbage bag. When we asked them, the staff member demanded my hotel room number in a harsh tone and when I told her, she then shouted to her co worker in another language some verbiage while pointing at us. They had a conversation, that sounded like an argument to me, for a few minutes while we were standing there waiting for the OK to skip our room and give us a towel. Mind you, they were standing right next to the towel cart conversing in their language while I was standing there confused.
Always enjoy the staff, the contemporary atmosphere, the location, and the garden with fire pits. This is my favorite place to stay in Portland for a reasonable price (the nines is great but expensive, and the loft is great but more for an airport stay). The valet parking was pretty good and free for my Prius (they had a special for "green" cars) and really helped to steal my stay (the nines did not offer anything like that). If there was anythInfo@VertebrataChiropractic.com I had a problem with, it was that once waited for 15 minutes for my car and when I asked about it, the valet had forgotten about it. He immediately remedied the situation and had the car in 90 seconds, but it would have been nice to have gotten it when it was first asked for. A small oversight, and overall does not take from my five star rating for this property.
Located close to downtown shopping and Keller Auditorium. Staff puts customers first. In house restaurant is fantastic. Excellent wait staff and food is great. Great outdoor patio with gas fire pits. Rooms not big, but very nice. Valet parking adds $35 per night. Would stay there again. $35 valet parking not mentioned in booking.
I checked into Hotel Moderna after a very long day of traveling and checking out of another hotel because if wasn't clean or at all what I was looking for. The guy behind the front desk, after hearing of my travel troubles, offered me free drinks in the hotel restaurant to make my day better. He also gave me a map of the city and marked his favorite places to hang out in sharpie. The front desk staff went above and beyond to accommodate me, which is exactly what I needed after the day I had.
Location and staff were great. Flowers were a little pass their time and bathroom needed a little work. Lightning in the bathroom was poor and a magnificent mirror would have been helpful .
The lobby alone makes this place worth it. Top notch all around.
Very comfortable bed and staff was quite friendly. Great lobby and building with a ton of character, historic architecture, marble, and classic woodwork. (If you want a sleek, modern, generic place that looks the same as a hotel in any other city, this is not the hotel for you.) My room (1212) was quite small, especially the bathroom. Because I wanted a single large bed and the hotel was pretty full, I think maybe I had that oddball room that most older hotels have that are squeezed into a non-regular space. In this case, it also happened to be near housekeeping, which was noisy in the morning with carts being banged around. The room was fine but smaller than one might expect. The bathroom was ok for me but would have been an issue for someone who spends more time getting ready. There was not even enough room to stand squarely in front of the tiny sink because a bookcase/shelving unit was put on the wall right in the area in front of sink. I had to shave at an odd angle, off to the side of the sink.
Convenient location, short two blocks from the MAX light-rail. Incredibly luxurious room, decent (not spectacular but OK) free internet (could get more speed for more money). Need room key to activate the elevator - an added level of security. Room was a bit dark, could definitely use more lighting or more powerful light bulbs.
The location is great (close to all the downtown spots). The staff are well-trained and express interest/care. The hotel is dated. The look can be charming. But I don't think that chipped paint, old and over-exposed grout, faded/worn carpets, tough mattresses are part of the decor. Maybe other rooms in the hotel have been updated, but my room was not. I also faced a very load street/area so I would recommend asking for an updated room (if they have any), and for a room in a quiet location.
Great location, lovely hotel. I really just wanted to get some sleep. There was a lot of street noise, even in the middle of the night. Who knew Portland was so loud?
Location in the heart of Portland. Great lobby. Staff unhelpful. Reservation was cancelled when it shouldn't have been. Small beds and rooms. Bathrooms just okay. expensive for what you get.
Easy walking to shopping in downtown and the Pearl district. Close to food carts and beer gardens. 1 block from the Max train.
Everything. Especially the bartender. He is so knowledgeable about scotch, etc. He's wonderful. He the reason we stay there every holiday season. I forget his name but he's been there forever.
Excellent location near great bars pubs and restaurants
Location was great and allowed us to walk to nearly everything we wanted to do. Lobby bar was amongst the best I've ever been to. Parking was not explained very well, and expensive. The valets ignored us for over 10 min before we drove off and parked in the garage that was less than a block away. Turned out to be the same garage the valet uses, and has a tunnel connected to the hotel. Room was dark due to only having one small window in the corner.
Hotel is very old but extremely well kept, it has a kind of regal feel whenever you walk in. Very good service and the location is the best. Just two things: The love seat and chairs in my room looked a little old, not in bad shape or anything, just old. The bathroom light was a little dim.
The hotel is in a great location and upon entering all you see is a grand lobby decorated completely for Christmas. The checkin/check out process was incredibly easy and the staff was friendly. Even got a free upgrade on the room since we were there for only a night which was a huge and wonderful surprise. The room itself was clean and modern and the bed made me want to stay forever. The hotel offered complementary drinks at night which was a nice surprise and the morning breakfast was such a great experience as compared to other hotel's "breakfasts". Overall I would come back to this hotel every time I come to Portland.
Location was great. Parking Garage right across the street. The staff is the best in all departments. Room Service is outstanding and the Food delivered perfect. The beds were too hard and I woke up with a back ache both mornings. There is only one door between adjoining rooms and you can hear every thing that is said. Which also made us whisper. High school choir were in town and ran up and down hall way knocking on doors . Possibly they could place kids on one floor or wing as not to disturb your other customers.
Location close to everything! They charge you for wifi , why!?!?!
Room was great, after changing rooms. Initial room not as described and had to show desk clerk reservation copy from email on phone. Res promised room with a view on top floor. Given previous floor level with view of parking garage. Said were given last available room with view. Had a great view of the city looking towards the river. Breakfast was great! Although the "cooked to order" ad description should of said "buffet" with optional "made to order" omelette. I did, and it was good. Having to use Valet parking. Rather a forced choice, because of logistics, then end up in public parking area anyway. Location was horrible. Maybe for some tastes is ok. Rough inner city, area. Not a place for going for walks or taking a young family. Sorry, we love Embassy Suites, but won't return to this one. Again, hotel inside was great. The surroundings not so much.
The hotel is nice and in a good location I only gave this place three stars because the windows are only single pain which made our room very noisy. Lots of street noise and loud music from the club down the street. We went there to hang out down town but would also appreciate a good night sleep. Also the rate on kayak was the same as I could get just booking direct with the hotel.
Breakfast and cocktail hour was great addition to the hotel and added value to the stay for price. Wish guest treated staff better by tipping for being served and cleaning tables was surprised that we were the only ones I could see that tipped everyone for what they did. I was ashamed that people don't appriciate nice friendly staff that are willing to help. Pool was a little colder then I was expecting for everyone wish it was a little warmer. Elevator were so long wait but I guess that what you get when it a historic hotel.
Great, friendly staff. Excellent value for the money. The included drinks in the evening and full breakfast in the morning are a big bonus. I have stayed here before and will again.
Clean good complimentary breakfast and drinks Had to pay $10 for wifi $30 a night parking cable in room kept cutting out for our 2 night stay
Loved the pool and hot tub. Also enjoyed the food. My room wasn't totally clean and I didn't like the dirty dishes that were always in the hall.
I had a good experience. nothing!
I love the location, the staff, the old world charm, how accommodating everyone is. I'm not sure I love the new modern furniture in the lobby area.
Lack of cost effective or variety menu selections in steakhouse
Helpful staff. Facility is due for renovations - they start next month.
The entire facility needs upgrading. As I walked into the lobby and down the halls it was shabby. The rooms however, were better than the common areas.
The bed was about the only good thing about the Red Lion. The location near the Moda Center is nice too! Loudest hotel ever!! Paper thin walls and a room by the elevator = Not a lot of sleep. $14 parking is ridiculous! Especially after paying for the overpriced room... The cleaning crew started cleaning rooms at 9am. So much for respecting their guest.. We've stayed at a handful of Red Lion hotels and this one is by far the WORST!! Save yourself some money and aggravation and book the Quality Inn across the street!
Staff was super great! Room was clean. Great location. Worth every penny! The wifi only last 30 minutes unless you pay extra.
We loved everything. The bed was very comfortable. The room was beautiful and spacious and modern. The shower was amazing. It was huge and had 3 different shower heads. All of the staff was super friendly an amazing. The girl working the front desk upgraded us to a suite. without any charge just because we had mentioned it was date night when she asked us what brought us to Portland. The room we stayed in had floor-to-ceiling Windows which was so pretty at night. We have robes too. as a woman the other thing I loved was our shower head shampoo conditioner and body wash pumps on the wall. I normally bring my own shampoo and conditioner when I travel because in those little tiny bottles there's never enough product. So being able to use as much conditioner as I needed was a definite plus. We also had dessert at the restaurant which was super delicious. It was a gorgeous evening in the rooftop bar is lovely. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.
This was a complete random choice thru hotel tonight app but I could not leave once I saw the lobby : the citizens bakery and then the amazing room : I ended up extending my stay thru 9 more days! Great happy staff and excellent realistic affordable room rates made me continue to call this home / I'm happy there and I consider it my new Portland home when I'm in town Everything was awesome. Great gob everyone!
Loved the bedding. Slept great. I did not like the bathroom sliding door. To slide it open is heavy and unsafe when it is open. Almost walked into the mirror. It is beautiful though.
Total redo of an older hotel. Very modern. Love having the coffee shop downstairs to grab breakfast at in the am and the hotel restaurant upstairs in fantastic. Great location with easy access to the MAX train lines. No issues. The parking at $25/day is high.
The location of this hotel is very convenient for downtown activities and proximity to suggested things to do in Portland. The lobby and bar area are very nice. The work-out gym is also very good. While the Hilton is very convenient, there are some problems with this hotel compared to other hotels in this class. While free parking is not included, there is pay-to-park available from the hotel, but the hotel charges twice as much as the parking garage that is just around the corner(price gouging is not okay.) When I tried to ask staff about the private parking garage, they did everything they could to talk me out of it. Don't pay the excessive Hilton parking charge. I am finding that most hotels these days provide free internet in the rooms and in the lobby. I travel and stay at world-class hotels at least twice a month. So I broke down and paid for the premium internet access at the Hilton. It was far from premium. Not the slowest I have ever seen, but close to it. Also, at this level of hotel, I would expect all the rooms to have charging facilities for electronic devices. Sad to say, but the technical comfort of the room was anything but hi-tech!!
Great location. It's was nice and clean. The staff are friends The room we stayed at is a standard king room. It's tiny. It think it meant for one traveler. My husband and I feel so cramped in it. No free Wifi in the room, only in the lobby.
The beds were very comfortable, clean space, (small) but functional bathroom. The gym was *great*, large and definitely had everything I needed to lift weights and do cardio, including a small room with mirrors. It's also very centrally located, and easy to bus to and from, which is one of the best aspects of the hotel. I definitely didn't realize there was no complimentary breakfast, and they gave us two full beds instead of a single queen (which is what we reserved).
Loved the quality of customer service, food, and location. I didn't like paying $5.00 for a travel size bottle of hairspray?
No exercise facility on premis. No in room water. Breakfast is no available before 6:30 am.
the staff was lovely and very helpful. No fans in the bathroom, views were weak, sauna and steam room was in the other building, which I found annoying.
I was almost finished checking in when I was told that there would be a $25 early check-in fee.
Hotel is always wonderful. Due to snow and ice storm I had to cancel. The hotel was fine with it. It was within their 24 hours. Unfortunately, the company I used on kayak stated I would have needed to cancel on the same date that I reserved!!!!! Are you kidding me? Don't reserve through them. They do not care what terms the hotel has.
Great location Great staff Clean Overpriced valet parking Self parking across the street Rooms similar to cheaper budget hotels outside of downtown
The young lady at the front desk was excellent. First I go to the wrong Hilton which is across the street she checks me in anyway. Then my wife and I come down the look around your city. And there she is at the front desk. She gives us great directions and great suggestions. Blonde with glasses. Loved it all
excellent customer service. very accommodating. Extremely loud - the room above us and the people next door were very loud.
Tuesday night, December 20, the elevators were so noisy I was deprived of my sleep. Hilton should check the elevators There was construction going on so lobby level elevators were roped off for the evening so guests had to walk up two flights of stairs to gain access to the elevators. It appeared the construction crew was cognizant of cleaning up and they kept the worksite swept. However, on the 20th floor the glass table near the elevator looked as though it hadn't been dusted in several days. There was enough dust to write ones name on the glass! On a positive note, the employees at the front desk were very helpful at check in.
The quirky decor and the friendliness of the staff. Everything was fine. No complaints.
The hotel was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The room was large and comfortable, with very nice toiletries provided in the spacious bathroom. The location is perfect, down the street from food trucks, great restaurants, and only a short walk to great tax-free shopping. We will definitely consider staying here again. Our room had a slight odor of dogs / animals. This should be somewhat expected in a pet-friendly hotel, and is only really noticeable once you walk in the room. All-in-all, this was a minor gripe and will not deter us from staying here again.
We loved this hotel. Luxurious bed, gorgeous decor and details, accommodating staff and reasonable rates- we will be back!! $42 for overnight parking was silly overpriced.
Friendly staff; fun, funky decor; nicely situated downtown; and one of the best workout facilities I've seen for a hotel this size (a few elliptical machines, weights, cable machines, pull up bar, etc.). The parking is expensive, and works out to be a hidden cost: $26 per day, or $41 if you leave your car overnight.
The coffee was out before 5:00AM...excellent for an early riser. Running maps were sweet. Complimentary adult bevs in the living room...how relaxing!
From the moment we checked in and throughout our stay the staff went above and beyond to ensure that our every need was met. Incredible customer service and amenities.
They could do themselves a lot of favors by improving their bedding, especially the pillows. We both had a lousy night's sleep.
The price There is no elevator in this hotel
It was a convenient location near the airport. Room was clean and the staff were friendly. It's nothing fancy but does the job if you just need a quick place to stay before heading to the airport. They have a airport shuttle option which is nice to use as long as its not full. Check-in early to secure a spot on the shuttle. We were counting on using the shuttle service but when we arrived all the shuttle spots were taken for a large portion of the morning. The only available shuttle was leaving at 3am and would arrive many, many hours earlier than we needed to be at the airport, which was unrealistic for me. (I cherish my sleep.) Later they ordered a second shuttle to accommodate everyone which would have been nice. However they did not inform us and we had already made other costly arrangements to get to the airport. It would have been nice to know that a second shuttle was even an option. The pool/gym are not great.
Close to airport Little old, needs updating
This hotel is perfect for an overnight before a flight. Fly and go parking. In the middle of renovations. A lot of dirt and grime. Even in the rooms.
Low price for a night before flying out of PDX. Dirty rooms and stained linens, including likely bloodstain on the decorative bed cover. Weird lumps under the carpet. Overall, dingy, outdated and run down. Would not recommend unless desperate for a cheap room near the airport. I'd spend a little more next time to stay in a better place.
Very clean, friendly staff and a good rate. I had a good stay!
It is very close to the airport. In spite of its proximity to the airport, very little about our stay seemed accommodating or helpful. The front desk person, Scott, said that we'd need to be upstairs if we wanted both of our rooms on the same floor. He failed to mention that there was no working elevator in the building. When we asked him about it, he almost seemed to blame us for choosing the second floor. He was rude, the entire hotel smelled of smoke, the carpets were dirty, and nothing looked updated since the 1960s when it was built. We only had a 15 hour layover, and still, I don't think I'd say here again if it was free.
Everything was well worth it for the price. Pillows!!! They were not very comfortable, very lumpy.
Service Paper thin walls
location, ease of check in/out. Very dated. Bedspread looked like an orgy had just taken place on it.
The room was comfortable and kept us warm during the cold snowy week. We needed to print a few things and the copies were free. I didn't like that we were charged twice for the hotel. We talked with the manager who was able to explain the situation and get the first charge reversed; the bummer is that it took 5-10 business days.
I needed a place close to the airport and it was great for that. But it was so dirty. The hallways and lobby were bad, so I hoped my room would be better. Not. Drawers were open, bedding was torn, carpet was nasty and the room wouldn't get cool. I wouldn't stay there again.
Stylish, attentive service, cool bar, boutique nature of facility Justlocation is just a bit out of way but that could considered both a positive as well as negative
I love this hotel and stay here every time I go to Portland. All of the staff, from the housekeepers, valet, bartenders, and the front desk are happy and kind and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Clean room, well kept, and decent location Small room, very expensive parking
The hotel is close to many great restaurants and theater. The staff were amazing - and the attention to detail and creative touches are very appreciated. No shelf or counter in the bathroom is annoying - but the ambiance and details outweigh that!
Front desk and bell staff we very friendly and helpful. Everything was great.
housekeeping was excellent banquet staff was excellent excellent location hotel for 20s and 30s Front desk staff was all business, condescending and rude our king room was miniscule bathrooms lacked safety bars parking rules were never made clear
the room was clean lobby was way to small and noisy
Great location and decor. Well maintained and clean. Downtown and Washington Park were easily accessible by foot and the light rail. Staff were very friendly. Room was incredibly small, especially compared to the Marriotts I stay at for business. My room was also next to the elevators so glad I brought my ear plugs.
Have stayed there before and the Hotel is lovely. Bit of a remodel going on, but it's not intrusive. Service is attentive and Portland-friendly. The parking charge of $36 overnight is usurious; we had to park two cars and when asked if they would comp one of them due to our circumstances, they refused. This will cause me to stay someplace else next time.
The location is great, and the service is spectacular!
Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Location was excellent. Valet service an absolute disaster. Front desk unable to give good rec's on what to do and where to eat.
Couldn't be more helpful, great location and great price for luxury stay
Very comfortable room, old luxury style, very friendly staff No view, single elevator
Great location. Bar was awesome! Have a "bee's knees"! Because I used the door knocker that said I didn't need sheets and towels changed, no one ever came to my room to take the garbage or give us more TP, etc. thankfully there was an extra roll in the room. And one of the valet guys was rude to my uber driver when she came to pick us up. It was uncalled for.
Good renovation of an old hotel. No pool.
The receptioni staff were excellent. They upgraded our room after we told them of our vacation from hell just a month earlier. The location was perfect for us. It is close to the business area, the college and some of Portland best food. Loved it and would stay again.
The staff and location were excellent. Room furniture was too large fore size of room.
Very comfortable room in lovingly restored late nineteenth century building, with excellent restaurant attached. Extremely good value for money.
Beautiful building, excellent location near the Pearl District. Loads of cool shops, restaurants, and breweries nearby. Hotel lent us bikes! Pricey but not out of line for area hotels.
Great hotel, centrally located, free public transport close to several good quality restuarants noisey air conditioning
Room, hotel, staff, service, awesomeness Single ply toilet paper
People at Kimpton hotels are amazing across the board but we found the team at The Vintage to be especially kind and caring. From the front desk staff to the bartenders we had great conversations with each person we met and that made it feel so welcoming. We'll definitely be going back.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. The staff was courteous and helpful. The fitness center was disappointing in size and equipment available. It reminded me of fitness centers in 2 & 3 star hotels. On line it said there was a coffee/shop and bakery at the hotel and there were none. Online it also implies there was a spa but there was not. The front desk clerk said they could call someone off site to come to our room. One tiny window in the room. Paid approx $350 a night. Way too expensive for what it was.
Liked the style of the hotel lobby and rooms. Actual size of the room was tiny and way overpriced.
The hotel is closely located to the airport and provides a very timely shuttle to and from the airport. The workers at reception are accommodating and the rooms are clean. Unfortunately, they don't offer any sort of continental breakfast in the morning. There is a restaurant next door, but unfortunately it wasn't open when I was looking for a piece of fruit and some toast in the morning. There were no luggage carts available when I first arrived which was an inconvenience as I was traveling with a lot of gear for work, and since I arrived late, reception was unable to assist me with my bags to my room.
Very good service
Comfortable quiet dark rooms for sleeping Breakfast needs to be available earlier or at least some cereal and fruit
Conveniently close to the airport; free shuttle; basic room, but it was clean Noisy much of the night
Our stay at the Red Lion Hotel was a good experience. The hotel is close to the airport and the staff is friendly.
Staff was very efficient. Nothing
The staff was wonderful. It's close to the airport, and the shuttle service was great. We stayed for two nights and, while the rooms were clean, they did not replenish the towels. The restaurant was very good, and the waitress was absolutely lovely. The area does not feel very safe. There is not a security patrol around the parking lot, and two cars were broken into, and items were stolen, including a car seat. One car simply had an empty McDonald's bag, and still had their window broken. That is Portland, though. You simply cannot leave anything in a car, or it will be broken into. I would not feel safe staying here without my husband.
Responsiveness of staff; nice to have a frig and microwave; very clean room. Everything was fine!
When I called to confirm the morning of the stay, they had never heard of our KAYAK order and had no room
Shuttle service and parking packages the best!
The bed was comfortable and clean. The room was definitely very well serviced by the standards of a typical 2 star hotel. The morning shuttle driver was incredibly friendly and helpful, and most of the staff I encountered were great. The hotel was fine as a place to crash for a single night. Unfortunately I had to stay for a couple nights, but it wasn't too bad even so. The air-freshener used in the hallway is the same one used by many porta-potty companies. Hence, the hallway reminded me of an outhouse. Might want to work on that.... The windows are NOT sound blocking - and the hotel is at the foot of the runway, so if jets bother you, this will be a problem (PDX is pretty quiet from 11pm to 5/6am though, luckily) There was an outdoor light mounted just outside my window that had an incredibly loud transformer hum, which was very very annoying. Walkability is incredibly low. You will need a car here if you want to go get food, unless you're cool with walking about a mile to the local restaurants (you can take the shuttle also, which I didn't do as I do like to walk and the weather was nice.) The rooms do NOT exclude external sounds very well. Doors slamming up and down halls are clearly audible and startlingly loud at times. Conversation of people walking by, etc. Overall, it's more that the hotel is ALMOST an excellent 2 star hotel than anything particularly bad.
We really liked how close the hotel is to the airport, how convenient it was to park our car while we flew, and the airport shuttle. The best part was the staff! The front desk people were SO friendly and helpful, the shuttle drivers were more than helpful and drove safely, and the restaurant staff went out of their way to be helpful. We'll stay again because the staff was so wonderful. We didn't like the bathrooms. The water in the shower didn't stay one temperature, ranging from painfully hot to freezing. The bathroom paint was old and the corners of the walls were full of grime. The vents were full of gunk as well. The beds were not very soft. The window curtains didn't close all the way and we had to prop a chair against them to keep them closed.
The location. Also it was clean. But not worth the price. They did the bait and switch when we got there. I paid for a deluxe room with a view and they gave me a standard room claiming they ran out of deluxe rooms. also forgot my request for additional towels and a blanket and when I asked for it at the desk they delivered the blanket but no towels...
The downtown area with its abundance of drug addicted folks is really a downer. Westin has this wonderful hotel on the edge of some serious scurge. I lived in NYC, I'm not so soft, but it might keep me from going back. The hotel is lovely, all the same.
The location was the best & staff were very attentive and helpful. Our room was very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. Most of the hotels, including the Westin are on busy streets so sometimes the noise factor can be a problem but inside the hotel we had very little noise on our floor.
Comfortable rooms, staff was excellent. Would be nice to have a pool
Great location, friendly and courteous staff Bed had recessed holes and sloped down from foot to head. No included breakfast. Parking options limited. Included internet service is very slow.
Great central "home base" location for a portland vacation. Almost everything we wanted to see or do was walkable from here. The room had a great view, room was clean, staff was friendly, and they had a phenomenal gym that is open 24 hours! Would definitely stay here again on my next visit. Nothing!
The staff is very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. They have excellent advice on fun excursions. I also liked the bathroom had a separate bathtub and the spacious shower had a rainfall shower head The bed was not as comfortable as other Westin beds, The mattress and sheets needs replacing. The towels in the bathroom were also old and rough.
everything STAFF WAS GREAT Its all good
centerally located with a daily beer hour where you can grab free beer Rooms are some of the smallest that I've stayed at with very thin walls. Expect to hear your neighbors using the bathroom...
Wish we would have known they were doing construction on the lobby. It was noisy so they should have given us something extra for the trouble
Very clean and tastefully appointed. A great place to decompress. Nothing
The location is great. You're close to plenty of great restaurants, museums and late night spots. The staff is very friendly and professional. The rooms are comfortable and include nice touches like USB ports on the lamps and recycling bins. And you get free beer every night. The rooms are a bit small, so you might want to upgrade to the larger rooms when you book. No closet space.
Friendly Bartending Staff at Imperial.
They upgraded my room when my original room wasn't ready on check in, and they sent a complimentary bottle of champagne to my room because it was my 21st birthday! Hotel was quite expensive for the size of the rooms
The staff gives you a lot of their time, professional and helpful, and most are friendly. The room was beautifully appointed, very comfortable for one person, and I was happily upgraded to a street view of the Starlight Parade. Unfortunately the ground floor was undergoing renovations, which had I known I would have booked elsewhere.
Absolutely the best location. Easy to travel to any part of portland, 5 minute walk from Powell's City of Books. Really nice staff, really nice valet, decent gym, decent facilities. Room is clean and cozy. Not a great view but it doesn't really matter since you can access the parts of the city with a great view within 10-15 minutes. Valet is a bit pricey. No view from our window, but it didn't bother me much.
Classy place and Beer happy hour were amazing. Room size was a little small.
Close to both cities I needed to work in. Close to Jantzen Beach shopping center. It was rather loud, just all around. If it wasn't the planes taking off or landing, it was the ice machine, or the gardener running the lawn equipment, etc. Also, how is it that I pick the one week out of the the year to stay when the pool and the hot tub are both closed?
Free airport pick up and drop off. They also picked me up from the Rail Station. Very good service, I appreciate
Spacious rooms Front desk understaffed & some staff not adequately trained on procedures & customer service
The staff was very accommodating
Even though I didn't have a room facing the river, I was at the far end of the hotel and had trees which cooled the room down a bit...and I loved being able to open a patio door for the breeze! I was a little disappointed that the check in person failed to mention that my assigned room was at the opposite end of the check in area...An extremely long walk after retrieving my suitcase out of the car...however there was an elevator entrance just outside my room at the far end of the parking lot that I was able to take advantage of after returning from dinner with a friend...I just wish people would think one step ahead in order to make life a bit easier.
Convenient location, some rooms water view fair resturant, no bed spreads I like that. They demand to run your credit card for $25.00 for incidentals. It wlil be credited back to your card with in nine days. Should be mentioned before booking on their kayak advertising , would have been a deal breaker for me.
Clean rooms and friendly service. Hand soap was available in a push dispenser in the bathroom, and shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were also in dispensers in the shower. The room (a standard double with two queen beds) was fairly spacious, much bigger than at other hotels charging the same price. I used the free airport pick-up and drop-off, which was very convenient with a little planning (it leaves on the hour and you generally schedule it in advance). My complaints concerning the Red Lion on the River are minor. Room-hallway soundproofing wasn't great -- I could hear anything in the hallway at or above moderate volume. No fans in the bathroom but post-shower condensation vanished once the door was opened. I could have used more outlets for convenient charging of my devices.
We wanted to have a better room than the one given to us as a river facing one... especially to have fresh air. Lorkeya, at the front desk, did a terrific job and upgraded us to a terrific suite that just made the stay truly incredible. Lorkeya - you ROCK!!!
Loved the view and location. Room was spacious and had accomodations for two or more people nicely. The soaps and shampoos were restocked as needed. The extra blanket in the closet had bugs in it both live and dead. The bathtub had silverfish in it daily. The ac unit made a very loud buzzing noise for the first 30 or so minutes after it was turned on. And the toilet would only fully flush about every third time.
What I liked about Red Lion on the River was that it was next to the river, away from the business of downtown. I liked that our room was readily available to the exit, gym, and tennis court. What I didn't like about Red Lion on the River was when I first checked in I asked about an upgrade and I was charged for a room that was not only already booked but was incorrectly told the price for the upgrade and got charged $140 more. During that time I obviously wanted to correct the error but the hotel associate that was helping me did not know what to do and did not report or ask for help initially and was just answering phone calls right in front of me instead of fixing the problem. Plus, I could have been left with this wrongful charge if I had not said anything. The other staff that were free to help at the time ignored what was going on when they clearly saw that I was upset. I was then told I had to call my bank to cancel the charge, but I don't understand how or why the associates at the registrar could not fix the problem by returning the money back to my card. After I called my bank and fixed the problem myself, there wasn't really any remorse or compensation from the staff regarding this whole ordeal. I don't want this to happen to any other guest, so I hope this helps to prevent any mix up with upgrading and with customer service because I did not appreciate of it while at my stay here.
Room was large and recently remodeled. View from the patio was great. Would have been convenient to have a late checkout.
Although room was located on the 6th floor, the continuous noise from a generator on the ground floor was so loud it ruined our sleep and stay
Staff attentive to requests and very personable! Everything was super clean.
Loved the attention to detail and the French Press coffee in the room. My husband did not like the fitness room. Too small and only one option for weights.
The location of the Heathman is in the heart of downtown Portland and close to everything. The amenities are plenty and the dinner restaurant room service is excellent. We stayed in the Oregon Symphony suite and the decor is amazing with plenty of extras. In room French press coffee is a great touch. Customer service is excellent and the staff is sure to make your stay memorable. The late night food service menu could stand to have more choices.
Big room, nice tv, very comfortable beds, good friendly service Bathroom was a bit on the small side. All of the food and other assortments were VERY overpriced. Maid also came in without announcing herself. Sheets had some crumbs on them when we came in.
The hotel was great. Location was easy, the room was beautiful, and the staff were friendly. The french press in the room was a perfect touch and the corner view was perfect. Check in and out was incredibly quick and easy. Really a great staff. The walls were paper thin! Twice we had a grumpy neighbor come and bang on our adjacent door telling us to quiet down. first time we were enjoying some wine and we did get in a bit late, so understandable. The second night we were simply watching a movie at 8pm. Ridiculous thing to deal with considering how much we payed to stay there. In the mornings when they woke up I could hear them arguing over itineraries and even zipping up their luggage. Careful those walls are THIN!! This was the executive king room.
