I stayed at the hostel for 3 night's. Advantages: - locker in the rooms - clean bathroom and kitchen - Free donation space for food (no food waste) - 20 minutes to the city by foot I just wanted a cheap hostel to sleep in for a few nights. And therefore this is perfect. At the same weekend was a U2 concert in Auckland and everything was out-booked. 5 minutes aver I checked in the woman from the information told me, that if I want to extend my stay at the Newton Lodge hostel, I should tell them early, bc of the concert. This was very nice. And you get the feeling, that it is important for the hostel, that you feel comfortable. The people in the hostel are really friendly and from different countries. And if someone is loud in the hallway after 11. pm. You can just go the the reception and then they will make it quiet. (The receptionist went to the person and asked them friendly to change to the living room.) I would book here again. It was a nice stay.
disadvantages: - No oven in the kitchen - No windows in the room, just 2 ventilators - The beds are a little shaky
Locates close to SkyBus stop (airport bus), 15 mins walk to CBD areas. Kitchen are well spacious, equipped. Bathroom are neat and clean.
There was a miscommunication with the hostel and we ended up staying in a double bunkbed and i don't think that it worth the money. The room is small and the bed is not super comfy. No window.
Everyone is very friendly, it is central but not too busy. Good value
Cleaning is completely acceptable, but could be better. It is not dirty at all... just not exceptionally clean
