Traveling to Carnew,County Wicklow,Ireland from Canada,to visit family. Unfamiliar with roads, route etc. the Coach house is right on a main road, easy to locate and we were given directions to our family in Carnew that saved us time. The owners were extremely warm and knowledgeable about the area and made us feel at home from start to finish. Breakfast menu had something for everyone and you knew they would cook to any dietary needs. Greeted with smiles and a hand shake and said good bye the same..I would recommend staying here for value in every way..
What's not to like? From the friendly & warm hospitality of Mick & Barbara to the decor and ambience of the house, I loved it and will definitely return. I liked the presence of pets about the place too...very homely feel. I was sitting outside on the 2nd evening and Mick came over to ask if I would like a complimentary glass of wine. Very nice touch and I gladly accepted. At the Old Coach House they operate an "honesty bar" in the guest lounge, this was good because my friend & I preferred to return to the beautiful lounge for a nightcap & a chat. All in all, possibly the most welcoming & charming guest house ive stayed in to date. No complaints
The food was fantastic, staff were very friendly view from our room wasnt great, was also cold
The room was clean but hotel public areas were dirty and not cleaned to a good standard by the following day. The only good thing is that it is centrally places for the town of Arklow. Far too noisy and hotel staff did not enforce rules such as no pyjamas in dining room and children running around in corridors after midnight.
frenily staff and very nice rooms
Clean reasonable prices food drink Had room near function room so noisy
bedroom clean and no shortage of hot water no diningroom facility for evening meal bar ok for breakfast
yes standard of accommodation was not worth €177 p/n, have stayed in hostels very similar to hotel for standard for €40 p/n
my niece and i enjoyed the hotel for its spa facilities, the swimming pool is a fantasic size.we will be back! the taps in the bathroom need to be fixed. There was no bar menu in room, but a call to reception it was quickly rectified.room service very prompt
Friendly staff Lack of ambience in bar area
The Jacuzzi Steam Room Sauna and Swimming Pool were brilliant. Also the room location look over the bay was very relaxing. There was no entertainment.
friendly staff morning evening and night shift. 8 of my family stayed due to a bereavement. One of the twin rooms was tiny and the wardrobe was inaccessible for my elderly aunt due to the bed pushed right against it. The shower in the other twin room wasnt great.
It felt very homey and comfortable not like modern hotels that are full of corridors that look the same. . The room was gorgeous and the view spectacular, it was spotless clean and had all the facilities we needed. The staff in the bar were great! Breakfast was lovely and all the guests were chatting with each other. Definitely will be back and will be recommending this hotel to everyone.
The atmosphere within the Hotel was one of friendliness and relaxation. Would have liked better lighting in the bedroom which we stayed in, perhaps in the dressing/wardrobe area.
The whole experience was fine
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room in attractive building and scenic area.
food and service was excellent Nope, everything was good.
A very comfortable, quiet and pleasant place with a charming old-fashioned atmosphere.
no hassle just pay and get your room the foreign cleaner kept banging on doors to see if you wanted your room cleaned, check out is at 12, surely she could clean them after 12
Very friendly and welcoming and not upmarket. The price of drinks in the bar was far too expensive even for Ireland.
The view from the room was superb - food was good - the only downside was one member of staff who was serving food was not good at her job.
Location, choice of restaurants in the hotel , breakfast The website had only photos of the hotel, not the lodge and it was not clear that the lodge was across the road, away from bar etc .
It was quiet, charming, and in a lovely location The pub next door is owned by same people, didn't have as much on their menu as we had been led to believe based on sample menus on their website and despite winning numerous awards. The food was good, just not as much variety as we were expecting.
