We had a great time at Coco Bongo Hostel! Upon arrival we received a cup of coffee and a fresh, home made muffin (which was amazing!). Our room was very spacious with a little living room area, a kitchenette and a nice bathroom with hot shower. We had messaged the hostel to let them know we were on motorcycles, when we arrived they had space inside the hostel ready for our bikes so they were nice and safe! The common area is great to meet other people, to have an amazing homemade meal or to watch Netlfix. In the morning as we got downstairs after a great night of sleep they had coffee and 2 different muffins ready for us. The owner & his staff were incredibly welcoming, very informative (not only about Bahia de Caraquez but about all of Ecuador) and took great care of us. We would highly reccomend staying at this hostel, they sure know how to make you feel at home!
The chef, Saul, was our main contact. He was really lovely and friendly. We don't normally eat at hostels but we made an exception as his cooking was excellent. Local people very friendly, we bought beer in a supermarket and they brought chairs for us to sit and enjoy it.
Very quiet everywhere, out-of-season so quite a lot of places closed in the town. The earthquake 3 years ago had a bad impact on the infrastructure that they are still recovering from.
Excelent service. Highly recommend
Friendly staff: Sean, Catfish and the volunteers made my stay an amazing experience! The decoration is very impressive too, and maracuya frozens are golden! (I got a watermelon frozen as a welcome drink on the house!). Best place to stay in Bahia and to also make good human and doggie friends. I even got instructions on how many km were there from the hotel to cross the bridge and return for my morning run (7k). Thanks!
Stronger fan in the room or even AC. It's a warm place..even at night..
