Pros. Fantastic location for exploring Barcelona. Easy walking distance of major Metro line, and great bars & restaurants along La Rambla. Modern, clean, helpful friendly staff.
Cons. Motor to power the lift in the hotel was very noisy! Very audible from our room, seemed to be constant around busy breakfast time. Just ask for a room further down the corridor if possible, should solve the problem!
Pros. Here is the same review I've posted elsewhere: Highly recommend! Great hotel, almost boutique in atmosphere, and very well located for Barri Gotic (the medieval heart of the city, the Gothic Quarter). The building has been fashioned out of two of the old courtyard blocks. If you book early and request it, you should be able to get a street-facing room with a little balcony. The inner-facing rooms don't have balconies; the windows open onto the inner "courtyard". I use speech marks because the lower floor has been extended into what would have been a courtyard and has a white plastic roof. View aside, the room was very quiet. It was also on the small side, but I expected that based on the location and it really was quite comfortable for one, probably for two as well. The room had every basic amenity you could want; air conditioning, desk, TV, phone, safe, wardrobe. There was even a kettle, cups and teabags which is quite rare in continental Europe. The bathroom offered a rainfall-style shower which was fantastic. There was an almost complete set of toiletries (only conditioner was lacking) with a nice neutral green tea fragrance. The room was serviced every day and the communal areas were always bright and clean. The murals on walls in the corridors and individual details in the rooms are very nicely done. Reception is always staffed to my knowledge, and the people running it were happy to help with any question or request (booking taxis, directions, suggestions for good local restaurants) in English, since my broken Spanish is that bad. There is plenty to see, eat, drink and do in the immediate area, and Jaume 1 or Drassanes are the closest metro stations (each about 10mins walk). These lines connect really well with the rest of the city. I had a great stay and would book here again without hesitation.
Cons. The only thing I didn't like as much was the mattress. It felt quite hard but when I was researching which hotel to book it seemed to be a common issue so I'm not sure it can count against this hotel in particular.
Pros. The location was very convenient: close to the Metro, the beach, and Las Ramblas. The staff was friendly and responsive to our needs.
Cons. We had only one problem during our stay. On our last night there was a lot of noise, and someone in the hotel was smoking and it filtered into our room from the air ducts.
Pros. Amazing customer service, perfect location, great shower, room was clean and bed was very comfortable.
Cons. Room was very small but fine for one person, view was into middle of the building, would have preferred street side but this was the least expensive room available so I was OK with it. Location and staff were so great that it made up for these minor inconveniences:)
