Very nice village, lovely shops and restaurants, well-kept hotel, very easy car access to the skiing resort of Pra Loup. Little parking available close-by, we often had to search the streets for a spot and never managed to get a spot in the carpark in front of the hotel. We also got fined for parking on one street despite a complete absense of any warnings or "no parking" signs. The hotel has a ski adf boot storage room, however you have to go up to reception to ask for the key every time and the room is very cold, hence the boots don't dry out overnight. The owner of the hotel was very stroppy about taking ski boots up to the room, in fact he flew in a rage at the very mention of it, claiming the boots were wet and hence not allowed up there. Despite the fact that the shoes we were wearing on our feet were wet and muddy.
the v iew lack of hospitality skills, no elevetor
Location, friendly owner, traditional decor
Friendly and helpful staff/owners, warm rooms, heating ski storage, free wifi and free parking, great location Blankets and sheets instead of a duvet, badly regulated hot water when toilet flushed (dangerous),
Authentic feeling in an older hotel, yet clean I thought the price was a high.
Hotel is on the central square in a wonderful little town. Breakfast good. Reception is on the first floor. Room a little noisy because of crowds in the square until early morning; however, this is also part of its charm.
Cycling in the Alps
The hotel is situated in an interesting old building which had character. It is near restaurants and the town itself is very pleasant. Our room had a comfortable bed. Due to the layout of the town centre, the hotel is difficult to reach by car.The shower door in our room did not fit properly and leaked water onto the floor. The decor of the room needed renewal. However, none of these points spoiled our stay.
The hotel was in a good, central location within the town of Barcelonnette. The quality of bedlinen was poor, with no seperate pillows, just a stuffed roll with the bedlinen rolled around it. I also found insects inside the blanket and was botten several times.
central location, clean, nice old compact small city, great family restaurant & breakfast. car park. great stop over for french alps tour. smell from pipes in room
Good location and attentive staff. Rooms were clean and fresh. Hotel was centrally located in the small town. Food was generally good. Tax formed over 10% of the total bill. As well as these hidden costs please be aware that the credit card machine did not work and we had to pay cash. Our cards worked at all other machines during our stay in France.
An absolutely beautiful setting and very nice staff. None.
The Maitre d was a charming stand out amongst the staff, he also had excellent English and joked kindly about the standard of my French whilst still giving encouragement to learn the language!!! Unfortunately new building work at the rear of the hotel meant that the "tranquility" expected was not there and we were awakened by drilling and or banging at 7:30am every morning other than Sunday. A real shame as everything else about the hotel was up to expectations.
be very exact about services quoted, specially in the restaurant
the room is beautiful, antique and very spacious and clean. the surroundings were also fantastic. the chef's comments when he found out we wouldn't try his food.
The reception was very friendly, a cosy place with a nice restaurant and nice surroundings We made a reservation for a superior room with an upgrade to a deluxe room, however upon arrival the room was not even close to superior let alone deluxe! We complained and were given a deluxe room with an additional fee of eur 40!!
The service and the personalized attention, the setting, the view. It was an overall nice expierience!
service, food and wine were all wonderful. We stayed here last year and it more than lived up to our memories. Large extension planned for next year including luxury spa. Can't wait! The restaurant is one of the best we have found in the area - the gourmet menu is superb.
Everything - beautiful hotel, fantastic food and excellent friendly service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings Only set meal available on dinner menu. Although this was a fantastic, gastronomic delight, as we were there for 3 nights, we did not want this every night. A lighter, a la carte option would have been welcome
The ambiance, the friendliness of the staff The beds were not comfortable. i would have glady stayed an extra night if I had slept better.
The food was excellent. Great location, next to ski rental shop and ski lift. Easy parking. Good facilities all around. Twin rooms did not have equal size beds.
Nice ambiance, friendly people, good buffet breakfeast a bit oldish style but has it's charm; rooms are not very well isolated from noise
Location & good food. No
the restaurant was very good room smelled of and felt little damp and there was no hair dryer. We stayed in three different places in the alps - this was the most expensive while being the most basic hotel / b&b so maybe not the best value for moneyconsidering it was supposed to be 3 star accommodation
Friendly and courteous staff Difficult to find, below average room and and very average food
Recommended by friends whom visit now 10 years. Excellent chef and cusine. Great walks and views. We were not told it was a fixed evening dinner menu when we reserved or arrived. Owners do not seem to like foreigners even those with 20 years French and live 2 hours from the hotel like us. We and other non-French were treated differently. I would only recommend this hotel to French friends and for the great cusine.
Honest, clean service, helpful service Very limited facilities ie no satelite tv, no fridge
Location, landscape works outside: full of dust impossible to use terrasse for breakfast
