Grabbed a reservation here to wrap up a week long camping trip in Death Valley, always been fascinated with Route 66 nostalgia so thought it would be neat. My standards are extremely low, I had been sleeping in abandoned miner cabins and the like after all for a week, and routinely stay at Motel 6 type hotels no problem. That said this place was one of the roughest I have ever encountered. I’ll spare most of the details but for the sake of others please know this town is infested with people on drugs in a way you haven’t seen in years, zombie type behavior is the best way to describe it. I was solo and had means to protect myself and was exhausted so I crashed and got up about 4 AM and rolled out. When I left at 4 there was somebody there in the parking lot trying to snoop through the dumpster who ran and tried to hide from me behind a small bush lol. Couple others were hanging out on the sidewalk still drinking in front of the place. The people running the place were nice but man don’t go to this town if you can help it and especially don’t take your family there.

Cons:Hands down the dirtiest establishment I’ve ever seen. I’m honestly a bit concerned with the cleanliness of the place as a whole. There was pubic hair on the sink the walls were stained with only god knows what everything from grease to bodily fluids I’m sure.... even the shower curtain looked as if it had never been cleaned or replaced and was probably more grime and dead skin cells than plastic... Very sketchy wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone..... Score 1 out of 10
Pros:My stay at route 66 motel was very good. I was sadly, late in arriving, however, when I got there the room was ready. It had a feel of a different era. Everything was clean, and the person at the desk went over the remote control for the TV with me. It also a fridge and microwave in the room that was a nice extra for me. :-) I was also given a postcard when I checked in. I also really liked the price of the room.
Cons:The location was on the end of town where there wasn't much activity, which is not the hotel's fault. My only real negative was the bed was a tad on the soft side.
Pros:We started our trip to the Southwest with some route 66 hotels. This hotel certainly is that. The round bed was a novelty and the old wood floors reminded me of my grandparents house. We would stay there again.
