Bed was great
The breakfast was super expensive and all it was breads, yougurt, and ham.....over priced.
This a beautiful old building that positively reeks of history, full of period features and set in a great location right beside the river and immediately adjacent to the old town, which is itself a wonderful area to explore. The place appears - at least during our stay - to be run by one man, who was welcoming, charming and efficient, and who spoke enough English to allow us to converse in that language, although we usually manage in French. The room was comfortable and quiet, but in many ways the highlight was breakfast. French hotels often claim to offer a 'superb' or 'brilliant' breakfast, but only rarely does the reality match the expectations. At the Abbaye, the breakfast is REALLY superb. As well as the usual breads and pastries served with butter and preserves, there were boiled eggs, hams, cold meats, cheeses, pancakes, cereals and a host of other foods on offer. The picture I've attached gives you some idea. Excellent, and we will certainly make a return visit.

The breakfast was great. The ambiance and history of the Abby was very interesting. The staff was kind and friendly.
The room was old and in strong need of renovation. We stayed in a ‘privilege’ room and paid a high premium. The bed was very uncomfortable. The shower stream is weak, water leaks and utilities were old. The plastering was falling out in the bathroom too.
