10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional. From the minute we very weary walkers arrived, this property exceeded expectations. Amanda and Steve are amazing hosts. We were offered home made cake and there was Lindisfarne Mead and home made cookies available. Our room was just lovely and no stone left unturned to make our stay comfortable. Facilities and fitments were all of the highest standard. Breakfast was amazing - everything home made. Bread, baked beans, jams and marmalade. This place really was a touch of luxury and we could not fault a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have been several times to Market Cross and will go again. Amanda and Steve always make us feel very welcome and provide an unrivalled service

Pros: The little well thought out extras....dressing gowns provided, slice of homemade cake on arrival, proper coffee making machine, card and little present for my mum.Hosts extremely welcoming and friendly.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Market Cross Guest House was fabulous. I wish that we’d been staying longer. It’s in a nice little village with the ‘local’ next door. Steve and Amanda were perfect hosts in this very comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Amanda cooked the food that we had and it was beautiful. Highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The breakfast was first class, nothing was a problem, location great. The best B&B we have ever stayed in, would not hesitate to return and recommend to friends and family.
Cons: Loved everything, Amanda & Steve go out of there way to make you feel at home.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked having an antislip matt rolled up dry and clean in the bathroom to use in the shower. I appreciated their eco concern and having everything as eco-friendly as possible. I appreciated the teacups being quality and elegant,as were the glasses. I appreciated the fresh milk in a fridge on the landing. I appreciated the elegant decor and furniture. Loved the extra pillows . Loved the gesture of having local mead as a nightcap, again in elegant glasses. Enormous care was given to every detail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved all the little touches... the fresh milk, the fridge, the coffee machine, the welcome. The home made food was delicious. Couldn't have been better. Steve and Amanda were the perfect hosts.

Pros: Good room with very comfortable bed. Good hosts and excellent breakfast
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb - range of choices and a great selection of fresh fruit. A nice touch to provide fresh milk for making tea and coffee in the room. The location in the centre of the village is good. Belford is a good base for touring North Northumberland but the choice of places to eat in the evening in the village itself is disappointing
Cons: The hosts were lovely but perhaps checking a little too frequently that everything was all right - they have done everything perfectly so can relax!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A unique B&B, the best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B, hosts were exceptionally accommodating and we're more than happy to provide local knowledge on places to visit, eat etc... and it was ideally located to visit many beautiful locations along the coast. I would definitely stay here again when I intend to visit the Northumbria coast, or en route to Scotland.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The B&B was lovely in every way, great food, loads of choices, lovely room etc, etc. Can’t fault it.
Cons: We had done a lot of driving over a few days and we did not want to get into the car again, but that really affected our choice for finding somewhere to eat. Two pubs both had boards to say there was food, but neither had any that night. There was a chippie, but that would not be our first choice, so in the end we resorted to the hotel, and we each got a perfectly decent meal there, even if it wasn’t fine dining. The B&B’s printed recommendations were further afield and would involve using a car. While the atmosphere in the village was very friendly, the better resourced nearby town would be our preferred choice another time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming & friendly. A beautiful house. The breakfast was the best I've ever had.. it's an amazing place to stay!
Cons: Only that I wish I could have stayed longer.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Location was excellent. Within a very short walk of several local pubs and an excellent seafood restaurant (The Potted Lobster - would also recommend) in the evening, and only a 10 minute walk to the castle and beachside in the morning. The room itself was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent too and the breakfast room was very inviting. My partner had the full English and I had the local kippers. Both delicious!

Cons: We liked it all.

Pros: The breakfast buffet offered very good choice as I do not usually have a fry-up, although this was also available. I dined each night at the Sunningdale and the food was excellent. A generous selection of tea/coffee/biscuits and good quality toiletries in my room was appreciated and I greatly enjoyed my stay.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Not a lot. There was building work going on in the room below some of the time. There were 2 narrow flights upstairs to a smaller than average room. Shower was so stiff I couldn’t use it. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.

Pros: The staff were excellent in all respects. Brilliant location. The food was excellent particularly the breakfast with so many choices.
Cons: Only the chair in our room as it was a bit uncomfortable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Ad above
Cons: Staff - although helpful had that end of season attitude and facial expression.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We got a late start because of a flat tire but I called ahead and Erica the receptionist was terrific. She said we’ll be here when you get here NO worries. So we didn’t need to alter our driving plan for the day which included the dales hot tub pass and Whitby . A wonderful tour and no pressure to arrive at a certain time. The hotel is a town hotel with a bustling bar which served pretty good food ! No need to search for a restaurant. A really good comfortable place to stay. We had the castle view room... very nice. The hallway is creaky and winding and you might need a Sherpa to get their but once their you’ll find your way back. The breakfast was ABSOLUTELY terrific. Good food here!!!! PET friendly!!!!!
Cons: Nothing... we really liked this place... wish the weather was better but rain is a good thing!!!

Pros: Over-all stay was good. Staff were excellent. The bar and restaurant were bright and modern and the food was excellent for the evening meal and breakfasts. The hotel location was perfect for the beach and castle as well as travelling around the area. Despite the room we would return if guaranteed a better room
Cons: The room was tired and dated and could have been cleaned to a higher standard.
6.3 Good
Pros: We had a room on the first floor
Cons: No lift. Many dogs. Food underwhelming and overpriced

7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely staff
Cons: Decor very dated .Less Knick nicks would have improved it and made cleaning easier.Deep red walls and red and gold curtains horrible. Toilet and bathroom generally needed updating. Need shower in nursery and Marie rooms. Toilet took an age to refill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is located away from any other Hotels, Its that quite you can hear yourself breathe, really good for chill out, Food excellent ( would recommend ) nice small garden to walk around,
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was exceptional
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location. Spacious accomodation
Cons: Very unusual/elaborate decor
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was lovely - crispy bacon and fantastic poached egg, plus fresh fruit and homemade marmalade. Second room we were moved to (called Mary) was nice and light with lovely shower. Most of staff were lovely.
Cons: Put in Oriental room which was small and dark (and felt like a cell), Had a very old cheap bathroom suite. with shower coming off bath mixer tap. Insufficient water pressure to have a shower and water was boiling hot (could not cool water at all). Décor of hotel was also dark & more B&B feeling than a hotel. Insufficient staff to be able to have a suitable choice of time for meal. Dinner was very fancy/complicated but not that great. Our champagne was just plonked in an ice bucket and we were left to serve ourselves. No bar. Really just a B&B.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel decor tended towards the traditional country house, and so may not suit all. Bedroom and (brass four-poster) bed capacious and very comfortable. Food and drinks very varied and very good. Attractive, small formal garden and grounds. Ample free parking.
Cons: There’s little, if anything to criticise; the Waren House is a good choice of accommodation for those who -like us - are happy with a traditional standard of hospitality.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Beautiful garden. Property has a lot of character. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: No proper shower in the bathroom. Bath tap attachment only which did not maintain a consistent temperature. Toilet cistern took 10 mins to refill.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It has to be one of the prettiest hotels in one of the prettiest locations - a small manor house in a sheltered valley and really close to the lovely Northumbrian coast and its nature reserves. The hotel is very maximalist in its décor which you may like or not. The atmosphere is homely and welcoming. I really liked the library and sitting rooms downstairs - good choice of books too. It really is like visiting friends in the country.
Cons: The bathroom only had a bath and a hand shower but no wall hook for the shower or indeed a shower curtain. I personally prefer a shower to a bath and found this rather awkward and ended up creating rather a lot of splash.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location with lovely gardens and courtyard. Our room was a generously sized suite (the Parador), which was very comfortable. Dinner offered a good choice with much local sourcing
Cons: Would have liked an overhead shower in our bathroom. Wifi only available in the main building, but these are very minor quibbles, we did enjoy our stay.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cafe provides food 24 hours. Ideal location for our needs
Cons: Water pressure to bathroom was a bit hit and miss
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good service and food. Great views over the wheat fields. Room quiet.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Very good value for money.
Cons: The bathroom needs a bit of updating. The toilet seat needs replacing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is great for exploring the Northumberland coast and, being right on the A1, you can start exploring as soon as you come out of the hotel! The view over the farm fields is peaceful and there's a distant view of Bamburgh Castle, too. The staff are friendly and willing to help with requests.
Cons: Our room was a great size, but the heater - the only means of heating the whole room - didn't work so the evenings were a little chilly and a bit disappointing. Also the bathroom fan didn't work so the steam from the shower made the whole room damp for the duration of the evening. The carpet in the room was stained and the place was looking a little run down.
