McMenamins Old St. Francis School takes guests back to school in a whole new type of hotel environment. This property was transformed in 2004 from a 1930’s-era schoolhouse into a hotel that it complete with a pub, brewery, movie theater, and soaking pool onsite. Guest rooms were once classrooms, and with renovations of other building properties there are now 60 guest rooms and suites in total. Optional amenities include suites with kitchenettes and patios. All rooms offer their own modern, private bathroom.
The Old St. Francis School features extensive artwork paying homage to the school’s history and the history of the Bend community. The walls are covered with memorabilia, photos, artist renderings, and student artwork left behind from the classes of yesteryear. The Art and Ed Houses, which were renovated in 2016, feature secret hallways, secret rooms, and even a secret bar for guests that are willing to go on a little scavenger hunt. Pets are welcome, with some restrictions, for an additional fee.
While there is plenty to do on the property at McMenamins Old St. Francis School, there are plenty of nearby attractions in Bend and the surrounding Pacific Northwest, as well. Guests can find plenty of winter activities at Mount Bachelor and Hoodoo Mountain Resort. Golfing is just minutes away at courses like River’s Edge and Eagle’s Crest, and guests can enjoy a stroll in Drake Park, which is one of the most popular outdoor spaces in Bend.
