Everywhere in Bergerac was in walking distance, lots of restaurants, a lovely boat trip on the Dordogne and the Petite train giving you a wider view of Bergerac than expected Lovely old town with many interesting streets & buildings Pascal & Lauren were a delight, even collecting me from the airport when I couldn’t get a taxi, breakfasts on the patio overlooking the gardens & swimming pool were perfect, lots of home made jams made by Lauren with plenty of choices of fruit, yoghurt etc It’s a beautiful old house which is very well furnished & cared for

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the hospitality - Lauren and Pascal are fantastic hosts. The pool is gorgeous and the house is beautiful. Location was perfect, breakfast was excellent and having a garage space available for our bikes was a bonus. I also loved that our hosts left a delicious snack available as well as cold drinks for only €1 in the fridge at any time.
Cons: It's hard to fault this place but my only suggestion would be to put ceiling fans in the bedroom as the air conditioning is a bit noisy and not effective in the bedroom. Otherwise, the rooms are great.

Pros: My family and I loved the clean, spacious room, and the beautiful setting when we visited Bergerac. Surrounded by vineyards, there are great walks around the property. Other than a pool, there were many other amenities such as bikes and games provided! But it was Anne’s incredibly warm hospitality really made the trip special. She knows the region well, and we enjoyed all her recommendations for wine, food and attractions. The breakfast she provides is exceptional! Don’t miss it!

Pros: The room we had was absolutely enormous and very clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast that was kindly prepared by our hosts. We were welcomed as if we were family. We are travelling with a little baby but Nat and Didier did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a stay in the Bergerac area.
Cons: Bathroom was recently renovated, but not fully finished.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast. Hosts were very friendly and very helpful. Lovely dog! Garden was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed one night at Madeleine Bergerac but it was absolutely delightful! We wished we could have stayed longer. Nat and her partner were very welcoming and warm, as were Fifi and Nanette (the two gorgeous cats) and Leon (the adorable dog)!! The bedroom and bathroom were beautifully decorated and spacious, as was the breakfast room. The real winner is the stunning garden and we enjoyed a lovely coffee in the sun on the bench looking back down the lawn at the facade of the old house. Also a very short walk across the bridge into town where there are plenty of great restaurants, bars and historic attractions. All round a brilliant and peaceful stay. Would 100% recommend. Thank you!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had the most amazing couple looking after us. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast included freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit, croissants, coffee and more. We could not have been happier with our choice. Merci bien!
Cons: Upon arriving, the entrance was rather rustic but once inside our concerns vanished. Parking was not on the premises but nearby and safe.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fresh breakfast in the beautiful garden, just a short walk across the bridge to old town Bergerac. We really enjoyed the gorgeous garden with plenty of room for reading, relaxing, or watching the birds. Didier and Natalie went out of their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. My daughter absolutely adored Leo, the friendliest dog ever, and the resident cats, Fifi and Nanette. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we really loved opening the shutters of the gorgeous windows and looking out onto the garden. A fantastic place for families and couples! We loved spending La Fete Nationale in Bergerac and walking right back to lovely Madeleine Bergerac after the amazing fireworks show.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast had lovely choices and set in a lovely garden

Pros: Hosts were brilliant, made us really welcome
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable garden room with air con, excellent!
Cons: A better quality breakfast. Homemade fruit cake was lovely, but madeleines and croissants would’ve been tastier if they were fresh and warm from bakers. Freshly squeezed orange juice would’ve been a nice touch for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the traditional house and got nds with its really comfortable makeover. Perfect location too with free and was parking
Cons: No bad things
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the garden "shed" which has been converted into a cosy little house with its own little patio. It has been done up very tastefully and with modern equpiment (very comfortable bed, TV with English channels, tea-making facilities, well-stocked fridge, great bathroom/shower etc.). Needless to say that it was also all very clean. Lesley and John were great hosts who gave us very useful tips on what to visit and do in the area, various restaurants etc. Breakfast was in the lovely living room in the main house and was a great choice of pretty much everthing you could whish for. The location is very central, just a short walk into the old part of Bergerac with many restaurants, but in a very quiet area,
Cons: There's really nothing to put in this section (especially since our hosts can hardly be blamed for the rain or the mosquitoes - for which, by the way, they gave us a big umbrella and a very helpful cream :-)) If anything: it might be helpful to put a a couple of hooks in the bathroom, but that's really all we can think of :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the chalet which is set in its own grounds next to the main house, everything was perfect and very quiet. We had secure off road parking for our motorcycle, it was just a short walk to the centre of the beautiful city of Bergerac. Our hosts John and Lesley are a lovely couple who gave us a warm welcome and useful information for our stay and a great breakfast to start the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Everything is walkable. Wonderful recommendations for restaurants and things to see. Our hosts were so full of information. The place was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A cancellation meant that we were offered an upgrade at a slightly higher rate to the Garden Room-a much more spacious affair. Our hosts, being fellow Geordies, (well John is a naturalised Geordie,) were very warm and welcoming and gave us excellent advice about the best value places to eat in Bergerac. Then we discovered we had mutual acquaintances and the coincidences became absurd. John and Lesley are very good company and run their business with a lot of heart. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about villa Violetta was fabulous John and Lesley was fantastic hosts great location
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast with great home baking .
Cons: Can't think of anything.

The A89 motorway is 20 km from the property while Périgueux is a 45-minute drive away.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Historic unique characterful building which was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the opportunity to stay in a 450yr old house. The owners were friendly and welcoming and flexible as we had arrived early. Fresh continental breakfast was super.
Cons: Internet is a bit slow compared with city speeds. Noise travelled through the property very easily.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay here. The house has a lot of character that adds to the experience of being in a medieval town. Everything is decorated with so much attention to detail. Although the house is very old, it is kept in an excellent condition. The hosts were very welcoming, attentive and we really enjoyed talking to them. The location is very convenient - right in the old town, near the river and it's easy to walk everywhere. The breakfast was excellent - some of the bests croissants we had in France! It was also very nice to have a terrace to sit on in the evening. Parking turned out to not be a problem - we were able to park quite close to the hotel and it wasn't expensive at all. Overall, we would love to stay here again!
Cons: To enjoy your stay here make sure that you don't have unrealistic expectations - this is an old building and staying here feels more like staying at an old country house than at a traditional hotel. So if you are expecting a typical hotel, this will be quite different. Also, a few things to keep in mind if you are staying in the Superior Double Room (can't speak for the other room since we didn't stay there): - The room is located on the top floor and to get there you need to walk up a wooden staircase with uneven steps. This was not a problem for us but could be for someone with a lot of luggage or mobility issues. - The en suite bathroom does not have a door, only a curtain, so there is not much privacy. Make sure you are comfortable with such arrangement before booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful character of the building which is 450 years old, the spaciousness of our room and the hospitality of our hosts.
Cons: Breakfast was wonderful, but unlike the French we prefer fresh milk, and my husband likes muesli. These are very minor criticisms. The fresh produce from the market was wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host Alain was both welcoming and helpful. The house is delightful, historically interesting and very comfortable. It is situated in a beautiful part of Bergerac.
Cons: No complaints at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building full of character, perfectly positioned in the heart of old town Bergerac. Top floor room has a nice terrace to sit and read or have a drink or two.
Cons: Not a lot to dislike, perhaps a door to the bathroom (rather than a curtain) for more privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alain got out of his way to help us find the car park, and to lead us back there when we left. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful old house. Highly recommended.
Cons: The only thing is that parking is difficult in the old city. Luckily the hotel had a parking place in a private parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Colombier de Cyrano et Roxane is a delightful find in Bergerac. Alaine and Nicolai are two wonderful, friendly and generous hosts who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was gorgeous with a lovely covered roof terrace. They didnt hesitate to recommend good restaurants within walking distance which turned out to be amazing. Breakfast was lovely and generous, nothing was too much trouble and they were both very sociable and we all tried very hard to speak in both French and English, their English is definately way better than our French! ;) Would highly recommend anyone try this well positioned, character filled house for the history alone but couldnt fault anything. Carolyn and Neil x
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was quirky, full of nooks and crannies. Situated in the old part of the town. So nice we booked for a second night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotels was fabulous, I enjoyed everything about it. The room was comfortable, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was tasty.
Cons: I couldn’t figure out how to use the key to get in but my husband could.

Pros: Situation
Cons: Shared bathroom facilities
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quirky but lovely small hotel. Well looked after by the lovely Masha . Right on Vieux Pont with the Fabulous Bistro d'en Face opposite.
Cons: A robe would be nice for girlies as the bathroom is across the corridor, but nothing else.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Macha was an excellent host, and cooked us the most amazing French toast in the morning. Would definitely recommend.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location to the town which is why we booked. 5 minutes walk.
Cons: I sit in the lounge writing this review as it’s quieter than the bedrooms we are all wide awake and it is midnight and not sure what time We shall be allowed to sleep! We booked these rooms on Thursday due to having to change travel plans and needed a night in Bergerac! At no stage anywhere on any of the booking details or confirmation or even mail message from here did it say they had a private party booked in their restaurant , which do note is located directly below all the rooms and outside them. We arrived at 2.30pm to be told the place wasn’t ready yet even though the details stated you can check in from 2.30 pm so we said we we’re happy to go off and have a coffee and told to come back in an hour, still no mention of a private party they were holding under and outside our rooms,! Arrived back an hour later to check in and chill out for a while having travelled to Bergerac before going to explore early evening and get dinner. As we were shown the room the private Birthday party in the restaurant was mentioned but nothing about thumping loud music from then... yes 3.45pm in the afternoon onwards!!! They had it playing whilst setting up It’s now 00.15am it shows no sign of stopping and I have a raging headache! I feel that to have taken this booking was completely greedy and had we have had any warnings prior to arriving as they did send a confirmation message, we would have changed and cancelled and stayed somewhere without a party! I am in disbelief at this and have video sound evidence not that that will make any difference! The music finally finished at 1am but it took till 2am to get quiet and the guests at the party to leave and we had to be up at 6.30am due to a flight which we did mention on check in. When we arranged breakfast for 7.30am . Masha the girl at breakfast hadn’t realised how we had been affected until we explained she tried to be cheery but knew we were not happy. She also informed us it was her last day.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was convenient over the bridge and you were in the old town. Parking slots in front of the building. Decoration was really personal and unique.
Cons: The stairs were for us a bit challenging as we had quite a lot of luggage. Otherwise no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - My partner and I loved everything about Maison Raphael Kafka, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we return to Bergerac! - The views from the property are amazing and it is a lovely and short walk across the river to get to the main town. - There is a lovely terrace that overlooks the Dordogne river which we enjoyed whilst playing cards with a glass of wine. - The the entire place is decorated and styled so beautifully and was kept impeccably clean throughout our stay. - The breakfasts were traditionally French and very tasty, and served at whatever time we wanted. Marche is a master at making French toast! - Marche and Raphael were very helpful and friendly, recommending restaurants, researching car hire on our behalf, booking taxis and keeping our luggage for us when we arrived many hours before check-in! - Raphael’s newly opened restaurant/bar is a lovely setting, we ate there one evening and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend eating or at least having a drink here. - We were dubious about the shared bathroom, but we didn’t even come across the other guests and it was well stocked with toiletries and always extremely clean.
Cons: - No lock on the bedroom door, absolutely not an issue for us as the property felt very safe and secure but may bother some guests.

Pros: Our host, Phillipe, was wonderful. He gave us great info on where to visit, particularly restaurants which were outstanding! And he made the reservation for us. He definitely made our stay 100% brilliant. His house is individual and homely and as he only lets one room, we had his undivided attention. Recommend it wholeheartedly!
Cons: We loved everything. But this is someone's home so if you want a sanitised (impersonal) hotel experience this is not it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Philippe was so welcoming and kind. He offered his recommendations and was happy to make dinner reservations for us. The breakfast was also delicious! The bedroom was clean and really well positioned-about a 10 minute walk from Bergerac centre.
Cons: The toilet was separate to the bedroom, we didn’t find this to be a problem but others may not find this works for them.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Phillipe, our host, was very knowledgeable about the area and it's transport links. We didn't want to hire a car but Phillipe was able to advise us on the best way to see places of interest. We caught the train to Sarlat which was fabulous. Phillipe also advised us on restaurants and hired bikes for us. We had a lovely relaxing stay with good breakfasts. Pros: Philippe was a very good host and extremely helpful and obliging.
Cons: We expected our bathroom to be en-suite but we had to wander onto the landing in the middle of the night which wasn’t ideal. The breakfast was nice and fresh with homemade jams and breads/croissant but unfortunately my husband does not eat jam so a little variety perhaps ham or cheese would have been good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Phillipe was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast very good. Villa in great location.

Pros: Couldn't be more convenient to airport - superb. Excellent room, comfortable bed and bathroom facilities. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: Miserable reception person who perhaps had been through a bad day. Had to request a couple of glasses for water.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location for airport great .
Cons: It was fine, didn’t like slippy mats .were asked not to eat anything in room . We didn’t, but I thought that was an unessesary request .
6.8 Good
Pros: Shame we didn’t know they only accept cash as oayment
7.0 Good
Pros: It’s location for the airport.
Cons: Arrived and shown to room. Not allowed to eat in room which is alright but there were no tea or coffee facilities and not even a glass to have a drink of tap water. We brought coffees from a cafe with us in the car and being polite sat outside on two chairs provided with a table. The owner saw us do this. We went out for an evening meal and on returning to our room the table and chairs outside had a reserved notice saying they were for the room next to ours, which we felt was a direct message to us that we were not to use it. We felt this very rude of the owner - could he not have just told us!! We were asked not to eat/drink indoors and then not allowed to use the chairs and table provided. I had booked this on the numerous good reviews but sadly feel let down.

Cons: We arrived at 7pm and spent 20 euro on a taxi into town were everything was closed. Hosts speak little english and we felt as if we were a burden rather than paying guests

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful halfway house to Spain stop for ten weary motorcyclists riding through 42c heat. The pool was most welcome and the flexibility to order in pizzas for us to eat poolside with a beer as the evening cooled. Alice the manager is wonderful and the times were spacious, clean and cool.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: All the staff were very nice & speak English. Shopping was waking distance. Went to attend the wedding so we were only coming back to sleep.
Cons: Lobby door closes at 11pm. Could get in after hour but couldn't get out & felt trapped but found out next morning how to do - written in French only. After I mentioned, they put the sign in English. Parking garage is till 11pm so if you come back after that then you have to park on the street but you have to move next morning before 9am otherwise you'll get the ticket. Garage door was not convenient. Had to get out of the car(in & out) & put the code to open.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Small and friendly hotel, outside pool was lovely. Family had two single beds as well as double (rather than sofa beds). Good location, only 5 minutes to the restaurants and museums.

Pros: Very good restaurant with attentive staff and good quality, well presented food. Dinner excellent but continental breakfast somewhat limited. Reception staff very helpful.
Cons: This is very obviously a Restaurant with some rooms attached. Whilst the dining area is very clean and impressive, the rooms do not quite meet this standard. The public areas, pool area and gardens would benefit from an intensive spruce up. Does not turn out to be as attractive as it appears on the website. Could be good with a bit of TLC.

Pros: Handy
Cons: No facilities to make a drink. Pillow so flat kept banging head had to use clothes underneath. Water leaked out of shower onto floor causing a slip heating couldn’t be turned down so too hot. Very noisy so couldn’t open window also noisy inside so didn’t really sleep. Would have been useful to have a channel on tv for visitors who speak English especially as so close to airport
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was OK. It was easy to find, and convenient, as I only booked 20 minutes before we arrived.
Cons: The hotel is on an industrial estate near a busy road, which was noisy. The WiFi was broken all evening, although staff did try to repair the connection. The shower, separate from the toilet, flooded onto the bedroom floor. The poor design means it's impossible to take a shower without this happening. The air con did not work - although this is a common problem in this type of hotel.

Pros: The room was basic but it had air conditioning which was an absolute must in the temperature at that time. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: We would have liked to have a drink in the evening but there was not a bar and when we asked for a drink we were asked to wait but no one came to serve us, the staff were changing shifts at that time but it would not have taken much to explain to the next member of staff?
4.5 Okay
Pros: The hotel had a restaurant which was convenient the night we arrived. It is located close to Bergerac so just a short drive from amenities.
Cons: Internet was supposedly available in the room but we were never able to connect. Had to sit in the lobby in order to use internet. Staff was unhelpful and merely shrugged and made no attempt to solve the issue. The room was very hot and had no air circulation. Again the staff was unhelpful when we complained about this. There was no window to open, just a door leading outside. As we were on the ground floor leaving this open all night was not an option. The entire stay was very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
4.5 Okay
Pros: Staff nice (mostly) Pool available Food ok Ok for 1 or 2 nights(stayed a week as house hunting
Cons: On an industrial estate. Too far out of Bergerac to walk tho’ stated as 2.4km Eating choices in walking distance bad to average bar the Planet Grill( Asian buffet), very good Rooms compact and no balcony Ok for 1 or 2 nights but that is it

7.5 Good
Cons: 1.the place is not a chateau it is a big ordinary house , part of him old . 2 . in this area bergerac city there is a big T severe mosquito warning Especially in places where standing water . These mosquitoes carry dangerous diseases. The landlord knew about it and did not warn us. My wife was stung badly And we lived for a long time under the fear of being infected We see the fact that he did not warn us in advance - We would cancel and not come - as deception and dishonesty.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Interesting location in the countryside
Cons: No air conditioning during heatwave no fan in the room only one small on communal landing. Lighting in stairwell and landing needed to be on at night or triggered by sensor otherwise you walked in the dark until you found a switch

Pros: A delightful property, with a very hospitable host in Serge. When our friends arrived to meet up for a a meal, Serge promptly invited us all in for a wine tasting. He then booked up the local restaurant La Flambe for us, where we had an excellent meal washed down with a bottle of his wine. We so much enjoyed his wines that we bought a mixed case which has been shipped back to the UK.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation simply oozes character and charm in abundance. It is a traditional old chateau in a natural, rustic surrounding. The furnishings etc are entirely as one should expect in such a venue. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are traditional with handmade preserves and local produce, and well presented. "Les Farcies du Pech " encapsulates Bergerac. The availability of their own wines was a bonus.
Cons: Our visit coincided with an exceptional heatwave. Air conditioning would have been helpful in the circumstances but it was never expected in this type of accommodation. Don't let this put you off.

Pros: Authentic old world furnishings make this feel like you truly stepped back in time. The chateau is homely and the hosts welcoming and genuine. Breakfast around the communal table with superb produce from on site was wonderful
